Cooliris 3D Gallery Froyo Port FULL 8MP Support
This is the new Cooliris 3D Gallery that supports 24bit color and the full resolution on your camera. It was ported by someone from a Froyo build. Enjoy.
It world thanks for sharing.
Thanks for sharing this upgrade.
Can't share pics via picture message.
thanks, but it seen like little bit lagging.
Yeah mine lags as well.
Sent from my HTC Incredible using Tapatalk
it seem as though when I zoom in on a photo (8MP) taken with the htc camera app, and viewed with photos app, the pic quality is better when I zoom all the way in compared to this apk. It was more distorted with this apk...
I used a photo of my car near the lawn and when I viewed the photo in full zoom, the blades of grass were sharper with photos app, than this gallery apk.
anyone knows why?
It's a pretty cool app but the pics are obviously not in 24 bits
It's not from the screen, I can get pretty good colors gradation if I stay in 480x800 on my Desire, but with this froyo app all of them sucks, I have only 30 steps of greys between black and white ! I think it's not 16 but 12 bits colors or worse !... Seriously, in 2010, android looks ridiculous with that...
The other version was better, allowed picking up other outside pics (picasa) and seems a lot faster.
I don't bother or use 8mb pic's since I use them for web work and 8mb images are way too large for that, so that part doesn't matter much.
This works on EVO. Very nice.
When will there be a version of the 3D gallery that can see my Incredible's internal storage?? (where I default save my new pics and video)
It works great on my Evo. How do i integrate Picasa web albums to it? I dont see any option. Please let me know where to enter picasa login details to sync webalbums.
Thanks.

In my experience, the 3D Gallery requests access to your Google account after it is installed and run for the first time. You will get a message in your notifications After you grant it access, it fetches all of your Picasa albums.

Same issue here.
New
Hi,
OK I'm new here. How do I install this?
Hi,
Thanks for this one ^^.
Is there a way to make it as the default Gallery on HTC Desire ?
I want it to open when I click on the bottom right corner in the camera app.
Samsung Captivate
Anyone know if this will work on the SGS Captivate?
It's not working for me.
I cant seem to get this installed on my evo post a .zip?
Does anyone have a modded HTCCamera.apk to make use of the 3D Gallery?
Is there a new version of Cooliris 3D that could be ported out of Froyo?
Does anyone know a camera app that uses the full screen of the tab?
With the integrated camera app not using autofocus it is mostly useless to me since i cant read any text i photograph.
I tried several other apps. They all use the autofocus and it works great, but they dont utilize the full screen of the tab.
The camera app in JM6 features touch-to-focus, and I have no problems making photos of text. Maybe i could post the apk + odex files, for testing on stock firmware.
Yes, the app works fine, its me that didnt function correctly.
You just have to hold the button down, it will autofocus and beep when done.
Thanks very much for thay info now alsi i Focus.

Another strong user of Vignette here.
I posted a topic on the use of Vignette over the stock camera App.
Vignette has so much more to offer and one special mention has to go with 'Zoom'. As you all know the default camera has no zoom but id you use Vignette it uses a very clever 'live crop' tool that works very much like a zoom.
An added benefit is you get to see the surrounding area you are cropping out of the shot..... AND the shot taken is so, so much better than the default camera App.
Much greater detail, cleaner, sharper focus and better colours.
Next is the settings..... there is an absolute MAMMOTH of settings to choose from.
I have one customized that gives me an 'ND Filter' at a touch of a button.
In my experience, if you're looking for the most options & filters, then Vignette is the way to go. But if you're looking to take the best possible "normal" photos, Camera360 is tops for that.
I don't know what it is, but Camera360 shots ALWAYS are clearer & much more detailed/cleaner looking in comparison shots against Vignette.

I must confess, although I have great admiration for Vignette, Camera360 Ultimate definitely does have some very good settings.
Of particular value I find the 'Tilt-Shift' to be fantastic. I also like the focus settings with it's 'Manual Focus' where you can focus on a subject then move the camera to another subject to throw the focus out.
So, my recommendation for photography would be Vignette & Camera360 Ultimate for taking the shot and Picsay Pro to post edit for even better image processed results.
I'm hoping someone can be of assistance, amazingly no one in the GS2 forums was to be of any help, surely this is a common theme for many,im just looking for a recommendation even for an app so i can get rid of the red eye in photos.
cheers

Doesn't anyone know any way i can get get rid of the red eye in photos?
I use PicSay Pro. You must change the red eyes manually
I did a quick search on the market for "red eye remover" and came up with about 8 apps, some lite versions and some pro versions. I've used PicSay Pro before and it's pretty good.

Pic Say free version doesn't fix the problem, ive tried a few others and cant see anything to get rid of the red eye, which app would you recommend?
PS-Id sooner a free version as ive already spend too much on apps the last 2 weeks.
Photoshop.com online editing tool is quite useful in a pinch, but any picture editor worth it's salt will have this function as standard. Even Windows Live Photo Gallery does a good job of it!

I missed the 'app' part of your post. This seems to be a popular option:

I recommend using from pixlr
OVERVIEW
When I got my Nexus 4 phone, I wanted to take full advantage of the high quality screen and set a gorgeous wallpaper on it. But I realized that no matter what wallpaper I set, I always get tired of looking at it quite quickly. What I really wanted was a new beautiful wallpaper every time I would pick up my phone. And that's why I created the app Gainos Fresh Wallpapers. It selects a random photo from Flickr's Explore stream and sets that as your wallpaper at regular intervals. I have mine set to change every hour.
APP HIGHLIGHTS
Images are selected at random from the 'Explore' stream at Flickr. This app is not affiliated with Flickr in any way.
Remembers last 10 wallpapers so you can go back and choose one you previously liked.
Choose to change the wallpaper as frequently as 10 minute to as slow as once every week.
Enable Daydream mode on JellyBean+ devices to start screensaver when device is docked.
Share images with your social networks.
Works well with tablets and phones. For high resolution displays a higher quality image is downloaded.
Choose to download new wallpapers only over wifi to save cellular bandwidth.
Minimal interface that stays out of your way. Just start the service once and forgot about the app.

Hi guys, any issues to report?
Just installed it. Interface is clean and simple, very nice!
I don't know much about Flickr, but would it be possible to choose different "genres"? Such as scenery shots, cities, beaches etc..? That would be be a fantastic addition.
Apart from that, it seems to work exactly as described! I'll see how battery life is affected over the coming days but I don't think it'll be an issue
Great work! :good:
P.S. Check the XDA Portal in a few days
Glad you liked it!

Ahh excellent! I'm still using the app, looking forward to the update!
First of all, thanks a lot for the app! It's a great idea. I just have a couple of requests:
Let's say I have the app refresh every 10 minutes and I leave my phone idle for an hour. It downloads all 6 wallpapers and wastes bandwidth for no reason rather than waiting for me to see the wallpaper before going to the next one. Could you change the app to prevent these useless downloads?
If I don't like a wallpaper, is there a way in the app to skip this wallpaper? Could you make a widget to skip the current wallpaper?
Hello great app, a save option for saving wallpapers to phone will be great!
The auto download on wifi only toggle is missing on the Nexus 7 with 3G (tilapia).
And it seems to get pretty low res pictures for the Nexus 7 as well, not sure if it's better on the N4 because the screen is so much smaller, and my eyes ain't perfect.
Awesome
hi alinium, awesome app bro. just downloaded. works great on my S2. Thanks and good luck.:good:

well this is nice
Thaaaaaaanks, but..

Great app and nice job! Simple, clean and compact. I had been using foxsaver for years before they changed it all for the worst. It used to work like this and now its been whittled down to about 10 pics per week. At a point it updated pics every 3 minutes and rarely repeated itself. I still have a foxsaver cache of over 1000 pics that I use with other wallpaper switchers but I am sick of those pics already.
Yes, after looking at the same 1K pics for over a year you will get bored of them too. Kinda explains marrage and divorse, or getting bored of your favorite foods and past times, if you think about it. The human brain needs changing stimulii to keep it satisfied. I feel like I got back the old foxsaver here. Very nice. I missed the "fresh" new feel of constantly changing wallpaper and now its back on the stack.
*****************************************************************************
I found one problem and have another request. First problem is when you upload a pic to your dropbox, it has the SAME NAME as previously uploaded pics. In order to upload one pic you have to overwrite another you've already uploaded. Each pic should have a unique name, every time, every day, every week, etc. I should never have to overwrite a pic with another pic. And there is no way in your app to name the pics. They are named whatever flicker calls them so you will probably have to change this.
My request is to be able to save pics to local SD (or internal memory if I choose). There is no option for that in the share function.
Thank you for the initiative!!

Hi Chaoticaa, thanks for your interest in the app!

It's designed this way so that you can see a new wallpaper whenever you go back to the home screen. If it waited till you were on the home screen before downloading a wallpaper, you would have to wait a while to see the actual results. Its very likely that you would have actually navigated away from the home screen by the time the wallpaper changed.
If you are concerned about bandwidth, you can use the option that only auto downloads new wallpapers over WiFi, or use a longer interval. I have mine set to 1 hour and I find it pretty good as I get to see a new wallpaper almost every time I pick up my phone.
If I don't like a wallpaper, is there a way in the app to skip this wallpaper? Could you make a widget to skip the current wallpaper?

You can go into the app and press the big green button to get a new wallpaper. You can also re-select any wallpaper from the last 10 you had. I have plans to add either a widget or a low priority notification (or maybe both) which will let you do the same without having to go into the app in a future update. Also, in case you get some embarrassing wallpaper, you can long-tap it in the app and select 'Remove from History'.
When I first downloaded it I was using my Galaxy S3 which is running an AOSP AOKP ROM, however when I downloaded and tried it out on my Galaxy Note 2 which is running a Touchwiz ROM I don't see how to set the app to set both the Lockscreen and homescreen wallpaper. The app just sets the homescreen wallpaper.

You can use the share button in the app (turquoise colored button), to export the currently selected wallpaper to other apps on your device. This way you can save the picture somewhere on your phone.
You can also long-tap on a wallpaper thumbnail and then tap 'View Wallpaper' to see the original image on Flickr. You can then save the image from that website. Please be mindful of the image owner's copyright though - however its usually ok to keep the images for personal (non-commercial, non-promotional) use.

That's a good catch! I am hiding the option for devices that didn't support 3G. But Android doesn't provide a good way to detect these devices. So I was checking if the device supports phone functionality. However, it looks like tablets like yours will fail this test even though they support 3G functionality. I'll look into finding some better way to detect which devices have 3G capability. Look out for it in the next update

As for the resolution, the size of the images downloaded is related to the display size. The image size picked is always one that's larger than the screen's dimensions. However, care is taken not too choose something ridiculously larger as that would just be a bandwidth hog. Sometimes Flickr might not have the correct sized image, in which case a smaller resolution image has to be downloaded. But most of the time, you should be getting a high-res, crisp image.

Thanks for trying out the app IvanAugustoBD! But I wonder if you're missing out on the point of the app. As elfaure mentions in his post, the idea of the app is to keep providing a fresh stream of images to keep your visual senses stimulated at all time. This is hard to do if you keep seeing images from a pre-determined set. The advantage of using Flickr is that you get an endless stream of new gorgeous images.
Having said that, I realize that some people might prefer seeing the same set of images e.g. if it is pictures of their loved ones. But truthfully, this sort of feature is very low on my list.
If this is truly what you want, you might be able to find other apps in the store that cycle through images in your own photo gallery. But I believe you will have a better experience using Gainos than those apps.

The share function is handled by the Android system itself. It does looks like they don't provide any functionality to save images directly to sd card. I'll take a look at what other possibilities exist. For the time being, you're best off saving them to some other app like Dropbox or Google Drive.

I've had a few Galaxy Note 2 users complain about this issue. They all seem to be using Samsung's TouchWiz. I looked into it and found out that Samsung has modified the Android API functionality in Touchwiz so that the wallpaper changing function only changes the home screen wallpaper. In all likelihood they have a separate function for setting the lock screen wallpaper, but it is not documented any where and Samsung has said that they do not make it public either. So the way it stands right now, there is no way I can fix this issue.
I notice full 2560 width images render very slow on the 12.2 in the gallery app.
They 1st appear at a very low resolution then slowly start sharpening.
Is this a 12.2 issue , gallery issue ? Any image viewer apps that show images instantly in full Res?
Here's a link to some 2560 width test images if you want to save and check. ..
http://members.shaw.ca/JVPhoto/JavaScript/Retina/images/2560x660Test.png
http://members.shaw.ca/JVPhoto/TestImages/2560x1600/2560RGBWhitecrop.png
Both test images show instantaneously in Galley on my Note Pro. (Ditto other high res images I'm using as desktops).
I would try clearing the cache in the gallery app. Also, are you loading images from an SD card or internal memory?
Otherwise I would recommend QuickPic. The first thing I do with any device is replace gallery with QP. Its much better. (Also I hate that gallery wants to display every random image on the device in its own directory, so its always a big mess, whereas with QuickPic you can easily exclude entire directory paths and only see relevant media directories.) Plus in general, its faster.
I notice rendering taking place when viewing my high resolution pictures such as those taken by my dslr. The image pops up instantaneously but sharpens gradually from top to bottom, left to right.

Same result with quick pic.
Took a screen shot with home+power , image renders very slow as muzzy996 mentions in both gallery and Quick pic?
Hmmm...
Yeah I see it with screencaps, same as described. Now I notice it on other photos as well, but less extreme and faster to fully render. I haven't tried DSLR photos yet.
I notice the same effect on my Note 3, but I have to look close to really notice it.
Went to a local store tried taking / viewing Home+Power screen shots on all current Samsung tablet models.
All show the same very slow rendering of images. That was the Note 12.2, Note 2014 10.1, TabPro 8.4 and 10.1.
Tried the same on an Asus tablet and iPad air both render images instantly.
It's not just the gallery app, as photos and even quickpic show the same lag .
Only workaround I found is to view images in a browser, file:///storage/emulated/0/dcim/
I'm surprised this is not a widely mentioned concern?
My gallery renders images (internal memory and SD card) incredibly slowly as well. The interface also becomes unresponsive. I hope they have a software update in the works. This shouldn't be the case with a $750 tablet.
I'm not holding my breath for a software fix for this. Even the gallery app on my Galaxy Tab 10.1 running ICS (Android 4.0.4) has the same issue.

Looks like a nice app.
Couple small things ...
Noticed pinch zoom does not work?
Does not seem to be a way to show images at the pixel level if they are smaller or larger than 2560 wide?

Yes this is unbelievable. My brother and I both do a lot of photography. He likes Apple stuff, I don't. But what pisses me off is that his iPad goes immediately to the pictures. My Samsung Note Pro 12.2, with a lot of pictures and albums, some internal some on SD, has a black screen for 20 SECONDS before pictures show up after opening the gallery.
Yeah, nice hardware. Now please, some clever software.
Use Quickpic. https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.alensw.PicFolder
Nobody in their right mind voluntarily uses the Stock Gallery with more than 50 High Def images. I'm a photographer, just opening stock gallery is enough to freeze the entire device. Quickpic has no such issues. (And has a lot more features. And the option to exclude folder.)

It appears that you are right. I accidentally assumed that the stock stuff on this pricey thing was gonna be fine. I will install the other apps mentioned in this thread and try them out.
What I do like tho, not as a photographer, but as a consumer, is the facebook/flickr/social albums in the stock gallery. If only they had one clever developer that knew how to actually pre-cache the albums.
