Possible brick? - Samsung Infuse 4G

So I recently made the move from 2.3.6 to 4.0.4 and was working great no problems. I want to move to 4.1.1, so I checked my cwm version which is 6.0.1.0. That's all I did in cwm and then clicked reboot now. I got the Samsung logo then cm9 but directly after it bought me back to the home screen of cwm. What should I do??
Cwm is not distorted in anyway... just can't reboot. I'm a heavy texter/caller and would like his to be fixed ASAP!
Thanks

Try to do the 3 button combo to enter recovery, then reboot.
If not, flash the ics kernel with heimdall or odin, or back to stock would be your last resort.

Follow above step and you will be fine...

I'm running cyanogen mod 9 (the zip file reads "cm-9-20120317-UNOFFICAL-infuse4g.zip") the cwm is v 6.0.1.0 I'm running ICS... the exact build from that video I shared with you just the other day... I have tried rebooting from cwm after it return s there.... and tried a battery pull and normally starting. Still brings me to cwm screen. (This was just a copy of a message)
That's a little more detail of exactly what I've tried. I did do clear everything again and try reinstall. No good.
I'm not sure how to go back to stock exactly.. since I'm now on 4.0.4, would stock be ICS now? If a link could be provided that would truly help!
Thanks

Or a post on how to flash the kernel with Odin/ heimdall.
Thanks

Stock would be only froyo or GB since those are the only official versions by at&t.
The heimdall one-click ICS kernel is linked in scott's cm10 OP and also in the guide I have on my signature.

I used this direct link for ICS
http://d-h.st/Pfr
Would this be the kernel to flash through Odin?
Thanks

The file you linked is a cm9 build.
Use the heimdall one-click ics recovery, linked in the 3rd post of the guide.
Or if you prefer Odin, there is also one for that there.

Sorry bro but i think yes, i had the same issue, i tried to get into CWM after installing "stable" version,If your CMW is gone after installing ISC version then probably same issue, CWM is affected by that file thats why OP removed it, but for now you have Odin back to stock sorry.
Hope thats helpful.
Flash the cwm community kernal and do 3 button restart. You will get it back.
Flash with sgs kernal flasher app. and shut down, reboot woth 3 button. Wala!

Did you make sure the root explorer app was set to r/w and not r/o? Also you can Odin a kernel and get cwm that way. Its easier imo as well.

try booting into recovery. Hold power and volumes then release power but continue to hold volumes. Give it a minute. When(if) it boots into recovery, then navigate to the "Voodoo" tab and disable everything.(Click on anything enabled). You will boot up normally then.
Its not bricked. A lot of people went through that. Give me a moment to remember or find the solution. Its been awhile since this issue. One question though. Why not try gingerbread?

Seems your looking to flash a gingerbread rom. If you flash Valhalla while still on froyo your going to have bootloader issues. Fbis251 has a great gingerbread starter kit that you should have a look at. Its in the dev section.

(Successful)Scarred to flash any ics rom

Ive tried many of times to flash a ics rom on my infuse but it always ends in a horrific way i usually get stuck in a bootloop, a broken Cwm recovery screen or my phone just doesnt want to turn on half the time i am currently running infused v2.2.3 build w zen core a16 kernel and voodoolag fix how would i flash a ics rom from this rom without any problems, and any suggestions on the best ics rom on xda?

1. Make sure you do all of your wipes.
2. Flash once to get blue recovery
3. It will likely hang so get back into recovery and do all your wipes again.
4. Flash the rom again and reboot. Should be good after that.
What steps were you taking?

Okay. Do the wipes as per instructions sake.
First, you're going to have to flash whatever ICS ROM you want. It will be stuck at the Cyanogenmod screen. Wait a minute.Take out the battery and put it back in. Now, when you reboot, you are going to have a messed up BLUE recovery. THIS IS COMPLETELY NORMAL as you have Froyo Bootloaders. What we need you to do is attempt to find the ICS ROM again that you wish to flash. Flash it the second time. Reboot. Voila!

Depends on personal preference. Using nun's aokp and was using RemICS UX edition as well. Both ran very fluent. AOKP has a few more customization options from what I've observed over the cm9 base builds.
Every single ICS ROM has its own distinction. I have personally tried JB's Ultimate ICS and AOKP.
I highly recommend these two. AOKP provides more customization options off the bat, but JB provides its own pros as well. It is just a matter of personal preference.
Good luck!
actually sometimes you wont have to reflash if it boots straight up into it

Yes, it will. The advantage of us having the Rogers version of the Infuse is that we have Gingerbread bootloaders. This means that if we ever want to flash ICS, we are not bound to get "rainbow" recoveries.
As for flashing ICS, please read a lot before you flash. It is best to know every single thing to avoid problems.
If you need any help, you can PM me.

Yes, any ics ROM would work just fine on the Rogers' phone (I am another Rogers user on custom ROM - Remics 1.3). Make sure you have a good backup and a working recovery firmware (Get CWM ROM Manager from Play store and flash ClockworkMod Recovery) before flashing. Recovery firmware is key for flashing - both for successful flashing as well as recovering from a failed one.
Good luck!

Okay. Here follow these instructions very well.
- Go to CWM recovery
- Go to backups and restore
- Backup current ROM (should take around 5 minutes)
- Download ICS ROM of your liking
- Put it on your phone (internal SD NOT external)
- Go back to CWM
- Wipe data
- Wipe cache
- Go to advanced, and then wipe dalvik cache there
- Flash the ROM
- Reboot
- It will be stuck at Samsung Logo with Cyanogenmod logo as well... I advise you to wait 30 seconds and THEN pull-out battery
- Put battery back on
- Reboot phone
- Go to Mounts and Storage
- Wipe system, data, and cache
- Flash the exact same ROM you flashed earlier
- Reboot
- SUCCESS!
Now, you might encounter APN Settings (data not working) problems.. I advise you to find the APN settings here on XDA (I'm on Virgin Mobile Canada so I cannot provide these.)
ALSO, if you run into problems with Google apps (I assumed you downloaded a ROM that already has them), download the "gapps" file. Link should be found on the OP of the ROM post you downloaded.
Have fun!

Gingerbread to Ice Cream Sandwich Unlocked and Rooted

Hi. I thank you in advance for pointers and direction. I have searched around, but want to make sure I am doing the right thing.
I have an Infuse and it is unlocked. It is running with a T-Mobile SIM card.
I downloaded Odin 3 v1.7. I successfully flashed from 2.2.1 (Froyo) to 2.3.6 Gingerbread by using this ROM/Root that I found on another thread here:
************ OPTION C *************
I997UCLB3-CWM-root-deodex-extras.rar
Features in this version
- Entropy's Daily Driver kernel
- Red CWM recovery
- Rooted
- Deodexed
- Zipaligned
- Busybox
- AT&T and other bloatware removed
- Scrolling wallpaper fix
- CRT off animation
- 8 lock screens
- Extended power menu
- Accurate battery mod
The phone is working properly on the new firmware.
I would like to jump up one more firmware to Ice Cream Sandwich or Jelly Bean. Every method I can find seems to include root, and I am already rooted. That happened when I ran "option C" from above.
What is my next step? Can I simply flash a Gingerbread ROM through Odin (after, of course, putting the Infuse in "download" mode)?
You need to flash a (ics) rom from the CWM RECOVERY of the phone not using odin and then you can flash a jellybean 4.xx rom.

Ok, I did a little research and I am more clear on the process - (download rom, put it on sd card, flash it using Clockword Mod while in recovery mode). I do have a question. Does it matter what version of CWM that is on my phone?

You'll have to flash ICS before flashing jelly Bean when you flash ICS it'll change the cwm to a more current one.

one last check ...
Let me check one last time before I do something stupid:
I have a rooted and unlocked (T-mobile service) Infuse. I had stock Froyo 2.2.1. I used Option C from a thread here that rooted it and gave me RED recovery. I used Odin and flashed the "extras" package.
I currently have build #: Gingerbread.UCLB3, kernal version: 2.6.25.7-I997ruxkg3-cl366622, firmware 2.3.6.
I would like to experiment with flashing up to ICS, maybe Jelly Bean.
My understanding is that I can simply drop a ICS rom onto my SD card and flash it from red recovery. Then I do do the same process to move to Jelly Bean.
Am I correct? Am I missing anything? Thank you ALL soooo much for guidance. I am learning and will pass it on!

Yeah.....its typed on Note 3.
Ok, I followed the directions provided and flashed Infinitum ICS. All works well with the rom. Recovery is distorted. I see directions which include Heimdall to correct the recovery.
Does that process just correct the recovery or does it revert me back to something other than Infinitum Rom? if so, can I repeat the process to get the rom back?
My next step will them be to move to jelly bean and be happily ever after.
