I am looking at different ROMs and I am curious, if I already have gapps -jb-20120726-signed.zip on my phone, there is no need to grab it again, right?
That is to say, the gapps for AOPK is the same as the gapps for CM10?
You'll need to reflash it when u flash or new ROM. I've used the same gapps for different phones ie. even. Works for all.

i have a rooted nexus S..
how i gonna install Cynogen Mod Rom..
i get this link..
http://nexusshacks.com/nexus-s-hacks/how-to-install-cyanogen-mod-rom-on-your-nexus-s/
but my question is...can Cynogen Mod Rom can be install using ROM Manager??
Why Cynogen Mod Rom have to install googleapps after we have installed Cynogen Mod Rom??is that necessary??
Do others ROM have to install googleapps too??
thank you...
Last i checked that website was pretty outdated.
Yes it can be done using rom manager. You have to flash the gapps after as they are not included in the rom. This is because Google asked cyanogen to not include closed source apps in his open source rom.
You will want rom manager premium so you can download the cumulative nightlies. Otherwise just download the necessary files and install zip with rom manager. Make sure you wipe data, cache and dalvic cache before flashing the rom.
I recommended you install the latest nightly as it has included alot more fixes since the rc1 release.

not exactly
RC1 is the last official "stable" version
the link you provided is to the nightlies which are very random in nature, and many times it might not even work as pointed out on CM website itself
and when you are NEW to the flashing game, it's best to work with files you know it will work for sure, to minimize the unknown and fear factor

CM7 was on a code freeze. No additional code was being added because they were about to release rc2. It would have been out by now but kernel.org was hacked. The latest nightly is far more stable than rc1.
So I have a few questions. I guess you can call me a novice at this. I have flashed Roms before just put like 4 on my phone and nandroid back up each one to test later.
My question is what does flashing Radios and Kernels do?
I flashed a radio on my inspire once and messed it up.
Also I need some help on flashing CM10 or jellybean ROMS. I wanna try jelly bean and cm 10 out but know nothing about gapps and I don't want a ROM I will have to update weekly. Will I have to with those roms?

You only flash daily to stay on the bleeding edge. Besides, a few days ago CM added an updater which you can tell it how often you want to be notified about an "update". (Weekly, monthly, only stable builds, etc..)
Gapps = Google's proprietary apps like Play Store, Gmail, etc. Can't legally put those into CM due to legal reasons. If you Google "jb gapps", I'm positive you will find what you are looking for .

Oh and also, you should check out the radio thread in the dev section. Has a map and explanations of the radios.

I've seen good words about ParanoidAndroid. Is that one you would recommend?
And I know I've seen you on some Rom forums that you've developed is that right? I can't remember which ones

We can't really give our opinions on the rom because different people will always think different things, as far as my say goes it is an impressive piece of work.

Ok I have not flashed a ROM on the S3 yet, but coming from the Incredible every time you flashed you had to flash Gapps too. And most ROM threads would have a link or at least instructions to do so. But it seems that this is either a given or is no longer the case because I almost never see a mention of Gapps anymore. Maybe the rock I have been living under caused me to miss this. So do I still have to flash Gapps 4.2 too? Thanks.
Sent from my SCH-I535 using xda app-developers app
Yes you do of you flash an AOSP ROM, but if you flash a TW ROM they are included. I'm assuming you flashed CM10.1 since you mentioned 4.2 so you will need the correct gapps. You can find the latest here http://goo.im/gapps
Sent from my LG spectrum (that's right) blazing fast on cm10!
The 12/12 version is the most recent. If you don't want goo manager is pretty easy to find elsewhere via Google.
Oh that's why! I have only been considering TW ROMs. Thanks!

Hello everyone, I'm new to root and flashing ROMs. I have tried CM10 (which I love) I've also tried Clean ROM and Hyperdrive ROM. So far I've liked them all for different reasons. I'm interested in trying MIUI v4.1
I read somewhere (I don't remember where I saw it) that using MIUI you lose SU access and TBU... is this true? If so I'm thinking it would be a waste to try it. Also does anyone know if v4.1 is stable?
Thanks

Hi, its been a while since I've flashed anything, I rooted my S4 months ago but never put any recovery or rom on it.. I have cwm on it right now but would like to try twrp but goo manager is having some issues my build number is jdq39.1337mvluamg1.. What can I Flash is anything.. there's just too much info and a lot of post with no or little direct answer..
Thanks... And yes I did search
Flash kangabean ROM if you're looking for AOSP experience. If you want to remain on touchwiz try GoldenEye. It has 4.3 software and is smooth as fk... Unless you're Canadian then you'll experience data drops during calls. I'm using kangabean right now and I'm enjoying it.

Like I said I rooted the phone months ago just didn't want to flash anything until now (I was flashing every week with my other phones lol) Goo manger was not working so I used odin to flash Twrp 2502 for now.. My mean question is it ok to flash my build ver and should I flash a older rom then the new ones for kernel and other things..
am not familiar with your build as i am att
2.5.0.2 is what i use no issues, there is a flashable zip you can keep on sd if you want
https://www.dropbox.com/sh/yhrq0tia8512rj9/FCjN8C9RMT/TWRP_Flashable-2.5.0.2.zip
on att some roms required having taken at least the mdl version. not sure if that is something that would apply to Canadian builds. that's why i posted first link. it may have some useful info. someone with Canada will reply here also--
