Why do you keep closing my threads? These are valid topics of discussion that haven't been fully discussed in other threads.

Don't worry Archer, I reported it too...
Because you're not reading the rules and creates pointless threads.

With all due respect, what is pointless about asking why manufacturers can't take existing components, and put them together into a phone that so many people want? Instead they slap together hobbled devices and promote them like they are time machines. I've seen lots of threads about future devices with future technology, but this is off the shelf stuff that people want.
Just give up and quit making the threads. Read through the rules, and all the other documents on XDA.

I was mainly referring to the iPhone thread you created. Try reading the stickied threads first. They actually contain some useless information (Mind blowing isn't it?)
I'm a product of the system I was born to destroy!
OK first as stated read the rules again. If you don't understand them then read them again.
Asking this question is like asking why Ford doesnt add a Corvette engine. What is best is all up to the person making it. Personally I wouldn't want any component from LG in my device. Some OEM don't want a removable battery. Hell even Google doesn't want SD cards really. See what I am getting at?
Now the threads have been closed and yet you make more. Then you want to complain about it. Not wise at all.
If you want to complain about hardware then hit up the OEM sites. Not a a software development forum.

I've written a blog post about my thoughts about Thunderbolt development and XDA forums. It's somewhat inflammatory, but I offer a few suggestions on how things can be better.
Full disclosure: I'm a sysadmin and an OSS developer. I haven't contributed to Android development but I do contribute in several OSS projects.
I personally like Xda and the community it has. The devs put in alot of hard work for free to the rest of us.
I do too - however, it can be made better for aspiring developers. My perception is that if you want to contribute code to these ROM projects, it's nearly impossible to get started, ignoring everything that anyone would have to learn about the Linux kernel and Android SDK.

No flames from me. While I like xda, all your points are valid and if anything you ignored some of the worst parts...e.g. Flaming, lack of respect, and other things that I see more often than I'd like when they aren't really warrented.
That said, ive seen much worse on other foss mailing lists, but at least in those cases its about code, not people.

So you want ROM threads to have a few posts only by the developer and have developers respond to emails to help users? Some developers enjoy helping others hence why they distribute their work for free and spend the time to make posts. The other questions are answered by other members who know how to resolve issues to a point. The fact you use that as a reason this site "sucks" is simply ridiculous. But that's just my opinion just like you gave your opinion.
I do agree with the CM7 issue to an extent. It shouldn't be on one man who has a job and a big family. Others should be helping and the code for everything should be available for others in the community to help get it finished and ready for final release. But with that said he is doing quite a lot and for one man he has done quite well IMO.
Seriously?
You try to start an intentional flame war with a hot topic that's been beaten like a dead horse and then write a blog post (presumably on your own blog because I'm not giving you traffic by clicking on it) so you can get free traffic by link baiting and most likely free ad revenue from it. Pathetic.

I think it's time for mods/admin to look out old rom like i said in above title, archive it, so that everything sorted again.
Forumers can start list out any known roms that have been discontinued/dead/unsupported.
PM any dev, ask for their developing status is a good start.

What are you talking about?
Each ROM thread in Development has a last released/updated date in the title and the threads are ordered by activity so its very easy to see which are current.
The INDEX thread orders all ROMs by date so its clear?
If you think this forum is messy don't consider getting a device like HOX or GSS3
So true...
yeah, I was so unclear. I dont realize that from this page to this page are all updated and undead.
So sorry.

I think the general point is that if a ROM is 'dead' then it won't get any more posts and will naturally drop backwards. Why go to the effort of archiving them, which then leads to more effort required if somebody does want to use those ROMs?
You just went from page 2 back. That includes many, very current, articles;-
TouchRecovery
TWP
Reaper
GPS Tweaks
Eng HBOOT
Do I really need to go on?
one page back, nothing much outdated. but others? nevermind. Im just trying to sort out outdated, unsupported, maybe non stable/testing rom/etc.
for example, in this thread, http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1639065 . you replied to that thread also.
new comers didn't see this as something I call, in align or sorted out. That's why that guy open up that thread.
and well, forget about this, maybe the seniors influence are higher and what others think for someone like me, meh, im just trying to be like some kind of wanna be mods or wanna be the good guy greg. bleh.
I do appreciate what your saying, but the system that is in place exists across all forums on xda and it exists because it works.
Old threads that are possibly dead still contain valid posts, fixes and even active links which will be picked up if people were ever to use the search function so should always be left.
Sywepd form my DsereiS
I'm not sure that sorting out these ROMs is your job. Or mine. Or, really, anybody else's.
What would be useful would be if genuinely dead ROMs had their title modified to reflect the fact and maybe the links from the OP removed, but that is the sort of thing that should, realistically, be down the the thread creator, not to another person - who is to judge when a ROM is dead?
I work in the EPoS (Electronic Point of Sale) business, and we have an application for wireless order-taking on Android. Unfortunately at the moment (and for the foreseeable future) it is only officially supported on v2.x (no support for v3 or v4). That's just a single example, but here are also many people out there who don't want to run a buggy version of ICS with the wrong kernel - for them the older GB stuff is essential (and they won't all choose to run Reaper or Endy either).
If that sort if stuff was to be archived, we would probably just get even more of the pointless threads than we already do.
well then, forget about this thread.
my bad.

Is it really necessary to have an entire page worth of bull**** in your signature? And then top it off with a message to NOT SPAM THE BOARD? One single line of barely-legible text followed by an entire page of stuff nobody could possibly care about? It's gotten bloody obnoxious, all these huge pictures, all these huge spaces and lists and everything else.
Oh, and the "POSTED WITH XDA APP!" and "POSTED WITH TAPATALK!!" ****... give it a bloody rest, nobody gives a damn what you're using or what you posted it from. Yes, I know that's a default message - but what kind of ******* would leave that in place? You install the stupid thing - probably just to get rid of the popups - AND YOU IMMEDIATELY REMOVE THE SPAM. Who is the **** at XDA who said, "YOU KNOW WHAT GAIS WE NEED A SIGNICHUR IN OUR APP DURRRRRR".
I don't think people should get banned except for repeat offenders. Maybe some guidelines.....
(shouldn't this topic be posted in the "About xda-developers.com" forum?)
no it shouldnt most people have that even me..
he/she's probably the recognized contributor of useless signatures.
EDIT: Haha i found out who it was.. He also now has an annoying gif above the "xda-developers" gif..
I think xda should limit the amount of gifs and images you can put into your signature..

I've heard there is a limit, 4 images.
Well almost all the RCs has those same pics
The best route to air such complaints is to contact a mod, and not post it anywhere in open fora...
Anyways, I've attempted to contact the concerned rc, and we'll suggest him to use his space a little more efficiently...
And just a request, please be a little more polite in the future
I made my sig as simple as I can hence the multi-links. They should learn how to compress their sig alot better.
I gotta admit, My sig is a bit messy ;P
I don't think sigs are a problem, if you hate them that much try tapatalk 2 which doesn't seem to show them

I am still new to the forums and don't even know how to create a signature yet, but the original posting didn't seem to be that bad, just needs to be compressed a bit in my opinion.
Ok.. so the signature is a bit long.. but what beats me is the fact that you actually opened a new thread just to point this out, while you could have just reported it or PMed a Mod.
I have requested the user to shorten the signature

Ok guys, I ALREADY searched for roms, but all of them are jokes. None of them are downloadable. My samsung galaxy 4G keeps giving me a force close message every 5 seconds, and I cannot use it. I wish to restore it back to the stock ROM, but when I try to click on a download, it brings me to some "lnx.lu" website so the uploader can make money. THEN it redirects me to some Hollywood advertisement that is totally irrelevant. Where can I get an actual download link for any rom? My phone is currently broken and I am frustrated. Could someone help me? Thanks in advanced.

@hyudryu
You should be more respectful. People are tired of helping with such simple requests. If no ROM at Multiupload is available, couldn't you figure out then that it was Multiupload the problem? Also, you checked the Bible, and that's it? There are hundred of threads but you only checked one. Can't you even look at the dates that the ROMs you were trying to get are very old? Search for a ROM, either GB or ICS, is even simpler than reading the Bible. There is a development section and there is a search. You could have just read a few thread topics in development section before making a thread. Also, check out the people helping you here. Look at their signatures. Full of working ROMs. Search and reading are not that hard and since you already know how to do it, then I suggest that next time you search a little further.

I hate people with long signatures and have a GIF in them. Really side tracks me.
First we have people who uses XDA from a mobile application, which has signatures enabled as default.
Code:
sent from my a0001
I could not care less.
Then we have the people who adds a GIF to their signature

"lightbox_toggle_sidebar": "Toggle sidebar"
}
(upvote or whatever)
Which doesn't make me upvote their comment or whatever, instead it side-tracks me from the post I'm trying to read. Really annoying and pictures should be allowed in signatures.
Then we have people who have their lifes work on a signature.
I don't mind those people, as it may be hard work they have put up. But still; not my thing.
Then we have people who have all information in the world about their phone, what ROM they run, recovery, kernel, settings, sometimes even weird patches.
IF I WANTED TO KNOW THAT STUFF YOU RUN THEN I WOULD ASK YOU RIGHT!?!? As if every human in the world asked the guy and he didn't want to tell each one by one.
At last we have people who bough a OnePlus device. So what people would do right, is they include the whole process of buying the phone into their signature. Not only on the XDA forum, but also on the oneplus forums (renamed to Community). It's getting on my nerves everytime i browse the OnePlus forums. Literally everyone has that stuff. STOP IT!
Code:
bought the phone 11/11/11
> processing 11/11/12
> shipping 22/11/33
> recived 77/33/22
CONGRATS!?!
Some people also have a picture instead of text, which makes it even harder to scroll down. Like I care when your device was bought.
Something to add to this rant, is that signatures makes a page go really fast, especially if people have a large signature. I see more signatures than actual replies.
For some reason you can even add which mobile carrier you have on your phone to your XDA profile. What's next? IMEI, S.O?
So you there: stop with signatures completely, they were made for emails in the first place and instead turned to be a spam in forums, people writing one line reply then a signature which is the motherload, that's SPAM. No wonders there's not a lot of posts in one page.
I can't tell if this rant was a long one or not. Some people will say for sure that you can turn off signatures or whatever. That shouldn't be necessary, instead look at your ugly signatures and remove them.

Signatures were very popular in the past, now that many people uses mobile versions in my opinion they aren't a good idea. Forums used to lock signature images with 300x150px resolutions.

Using a mobile device isn't a issue. In all XDA forum apps I've tried you can turn off signatures.
I don't have a major problem with people with signatures, unless they make a book out of it, which everyone seems to do.
But yeah, the admins need to set a limit to signatures.
Signatures are a way for members to express themselves, pass on information, etc, etc. And yes, there is an option in the user control panel to disable them from your experience if you so choose! :good:
But opinion noted and thread closed.
