SG4G problems... - Samsung Galaxy S (4G Model)

Ok guys, I ALREADY searched for roms, but all of them are jokes. None of them are downloadable. My samsung galaxy 4G keeps giving me a force close message every 5 seconds, and I cannot use it. I wish to restore it back to the stock ROM, but when I try to click on a download, it brings me to some "lnx.lu" website so the uploader can make money. THEN it redirects me to some Hollywood advertisement that is totally irrelevant. Where can I get an actual download link for any rom? My phone is currently broken and I am frustrated. Could someone help me? Thanks in advanced.
What is this bull****...

Nice intro. If they are all jokes, why should anyone help you find them?
Please check the stickies and Google "multiupload site shutdown"
Posted from my SGS4G, thanks to Team Acid development

Im sorry but you cant convince me you searched long and hard. Because there is a development forum full of GB based roms and several ICS flavors all on the first page of the development forum.

Please tell me, does ANY rom on there work? The links on 7 out of 7 roms are BROKEN. They redirect me to the same bull**** EVERY TIME.
Since you think you're so smart, why don't you tell me how to actually get to MULTIUPLOAD

@hyudryu
You should be more respectful. People are tired of helping with such simple requests. If no ROM at Multiupload is available, couldn't you figure out then that it was Multiupload the problem? Also, you checked the Bible, and that's it? There are hundred of threads but you only checked one. Can't you even look at the dates that the ROMs you were trying to get are very old? Search for a ROM, either GB or ICS, is even simpler than reading the Bible. There is a development section and there is a search. You could have just read a few thread topics in development section before making a thread. Also, check out the people helping you here. Look at their signatures. Full of working ROMs. Search and reading are not that hard and since you already know how to do it, then I suggest that next time you search a little further.

I thought this forum was friendly but i guess i was wrong, im just tryna get a little extra help and you turn it into a joke. Im gonna go to a different forum and get help and when i make apps, themes, and os for android im gonna remember this. I might make the app private so that only certain people can download it. Thanks! For nothing!!!

I dont think anyone was trying to be mean, its just a hard question to answer and most of us dont know what you want.
You should also try to be more specific in your thread titles so people know what your asking. A title like, "looking for an application development walkthrough" or something like that might get better results than "New To Development (Please Read)". It saves other peoples time if they cant answer your question instead of just trying to get everyone to read your thread.
That and your question is just vauge, if you narrowed it down to a specific question you might have more luck or maybe even try PM'ing the people that are currently developing apps and see if you can ask them your questions directly.
Forums just have a way about them and its frustrating getting the same questions over and over again when they have been answered 50 times before. I dont think you will find a better forum for developing so I would suggest you hang out a little longer and see how you like it instead of getting turned off from one bad encounter. Most of the people here are extremely friendly and helpful, you just got unlucky by having someone post a really funny/sarcastic reply.

Ya, no one was ragging on you, It was just the first time I saw that site and I laughed my ass off. Just look at the guys like Koush, jashsu, jesusfreke, and the guys that have stickied threads for help. Developers in general are very mean unless you ask very specific questions that have a single short answer. lol
First thing first u need your sdk setup

add S2U to current ROM

i am a noob and went searching for it but no luck. is it even possible? thanks for any assistance.

Yes it is possible to do this. Use the search function and type in S2U2, you will find it. Also the creator has a website just for it. Please next time search before you make new threads. People get annoyed when the answers are right there and someone post a new thread about this.
here is his website: http://ac-s2.com/
Mods please close this thread. Thank you.
didnt i say i searched for it with no luck? im pretty sure i did. i was there, matterfact i was the one who typed it. now, im annoyed. next time YOU read.

I'm glad you are annoyed. If you did the research this problem wouldn't have happened. Obviously you are the one that can't read as per: http://forum.xda-developers.com/announcement.php?f=378
1. Search before posting
Use one of our search functions before posting, whether you have a question or something new to share, it's very likely someone already asked that question or shared that news.
And don't get pissy with me because I was doing you a favor. I politely showed you where to get the program and told you nicely next time search. Other members of this website wouldn't be so nice answering a question that has been answered so many times before. Oh yea obviously you didn't do enough searching because if you had type "S2U2" on google, you would found this: http://www.google.com/#hl=en&q=S2U2&btnG=Google+Search&aq=f&oq=S2U2&fp=Q9hKAq0-8-0 I'm done ranting.
Moderators please close this thread as per forum rules...

Honestly, no you obviousely didn't search. A simple search at Google for "S2U2 XDA" and the 2nd result would have been it. I have done this multiple times to redl it so I KNOW for a fact from experience!

Thanks to the genius that deleted my thread about fixing the phantom voicemail without an email or even moving it to another section, as I have seen done with so many other threads.
I would have thought fixing the phantom voicemail was a development issue, as its a problem in ever AOSP rom ive tested, and I was attempting to contribute to the solution.
But someone decided they were high and mighty instead...

They probably deleted it BC your not actually contributing any "dev " work. Roms, kernals, ports etc usually go in the Dec section. Questions go in the general section.

Archive Dead/Unsupported/Discontinued ROM

I think it's time for mods/admin to look out old rom like i said in above title, archive it, so that everything sorted again.
Forumers can start list out any known roms that have been discontinued/dead/unsupported.
PM any dev, ask for their developing status is a good start.

What are you talking about?
Each ROM thread in Development has a last released/updated date in the title and the threads are ordered by activity so its very easy to see which are current.
The INDEX thread orders all ROMs by date so its clear?
If you think this forum is messy don't consider getting a device like HOX or GSS3

I think the general point is that if a ROM is 'dead' then it won't get any more posts and will naturally drop backwards. Why go to the effort of archiving them, which then leads to more effort required if somebody does want to use those ROMs?
You just went from page 2 back. That includes many, very current, articles;-
TouchRecovery
TWP
Reaper
GPS Tweaks
Eng HBOOT
Do I really need to go on?
one page back, nothing much outdated. but others? nevermind. Im just trying to sort out outdated, unsupported, maybe non stable/testing rom/etc.
for example, in this thread, http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1639065 . you replied to that thread also.
new comers didn't see this as something I call, in align or sorted out. That's why that guy open up that thread.
and well, forget about this, maybe the seniors influence are higher and what others think for someone like me, meh, im just trying to be like some kind of wanna be mods or wanna be the good guy greg. bleh.
I do appreciate what your saying, but the system that is in place exists across all forums on xda and it exists because it works.
Old threads that are possibly dead still contain valid posts, fixes and even active links which will be picked up if people were ever to use the search function so should always be left.
Sywepd form my DsereiS
I'm not sure that sorting out these ROMs is your job. Or mine. Or, really, anybody else's.
What would be useful would be if genuinely dead ROMs had their title modified to reflect the fact and maybe the links from the OP removed, but that is the sort of thing that should, realistically, be down the the thread creator, not to another person - who is to judge when a ROM is dead?
I work in the EPoS (Electronic Point of Sale) business, and we have an application for wireless order-taking on Android. Unfortunately at the moment (and for the foreseeable future) it is only officially supported on v2.x (no support for v3 or v4). That's just a single example, but here are also many people out there who don't want to run a buggy version of ICS with the wrong kernel - for them the older GB stuff is essential (and they won't all choose to run Reaper or Endy either).
If that sort if stuff was to be archived, we would probably just get even more of the pointless threads than we already do.
well then, forget about this thread.
my bad.

techhelpfox appearing in many searches

this doesnt exactly have to do with mobile devices , but im sick of techhelpspot results appearing in most of my google searches that would otherwyse send XDA results, the only thing that site does is steal the info here in the forums, and then giving you a link to xda (and other tech sites)
i cant see a way to block it , so i wanted to make sure its not something in my pc hijacked or anything else.
example using google.com (us) example search: galaxy s3 clock aokp
here is an example image with results:

}
another one: atrix hd swype apk
any idea why is this happening or if its only me?
i hate to go there just to click on a link that will bring me here, i think that site is new, xda results used to come on top before.

When you do a Google search, just include

XDA wasn't even on the first page, yet all the information on techstupid was from XDA...
After submission, Google suggested this add-on https://chrome.google.com/webstore/detail/google-webspam-report-by/efinmbicabejjhjafeidhfbojhnfiepj , which I have to say I will use relentlessly, and I recommend you do the same. It allows you to navigate to the webspam site, then click a button and have the form auto-filled for you.
Maybe even better though, is this add-on, https://chrome.google.com/webstore/detail/personal-blocklist-by-goo/nolijncfnkgaikbjbdaogikpmpbdcdef which allows you to click "Block xxxxx.com" from the search results. I think I'll report a few hundred techstupid pages and then click the blocker.
Hope this helps someone else!
