Two Questions about CM10 - Samsung Infuse 4G

1. Not to criticize or anything, I'm honestly curious about it. Instead of having to flash the ROM + Gapps separately, why aren't the Gapps integrated into the install by default? Is it a copywrite issue or something?
2. Is it possible to flash a new boot screen using ROM Toolbox Pro? Or will this crash the system necessitating a wipe and restore?

1) I cannot remember the reason.
2) Ive never bothered much to change the boot animations but i believe the infuse toolkit has this option.
(sorry i couldnt offer more information)

For some reason, Google ended up frowning upon including their apps in a ROM. Can't remember what their reasoning was, but it ended up being less of a potential headache for the devs to just link to the G-Apps separately.
As far as boot animations go, you can use a root-enabled file explorer to change them. I use JRummy's Root Browser Lite. The boot animation is located in /system/media. You'll have to manually set permissions once you replace the animation. Permissions are "rw-r--r--" or 0644.

I have reworked this ROM to make it a little easier to work with. In the 0.2 version, you will be able to flash the main package without any need to add files like in the 0.1 version. As for the removed apk files, they are now flashable either individually or in packs depending on what they are. I felt this would be an easier way to still get what you want but not having to put things together before flashing.
I still recommend that you take a backup before you flash anything. I am not responsible for any damage you do to your phone while flashing any or all parts of this ROM. I also recommend that you download both the ROM and Addons at the same time so that you do not have to wait for a second download after you have already flashed the ROM.
Also, to be clear since there has been confusion, MMS is 100% functional in this ROM because it uses stock MMS, not AOSP.
*****This ROM contains these apps:
ADW Launcher
Browser
Camera
Clock
Contacts
Gallery
Gmail
GTalk
Latitude
Maps

MMS
Music Player
My Files

Quick Boot
ROM Manager

Touchwiz Calander, Calculator Pack

*****IF YOU HAVE VOODOO INSTALLED, DISABLE LAGFIX FIRST*****
Download the ROM and Addons. Unzip the Addons and decide which packs you want to flash. Put the ROM and individual Addons on your sdcard and boot into recovery. Flash the ROM first. Then you can flash the Addons individually. When you are done, reboot. If the phone hangs at the boot animation for more than 5 minutes, pull the battery, do three button to get back to recovery and do a data wipe/factory reset. Reboot and things should be fine.

Awesome! I'm reading up some more on how to flash these roms in and I plan on using this one. I'm new to this and just learning.
I installed ROM Manager and installed "flash clockworkmod recovery" (it said I had to) and then I clicked backup current ROM. I have tried twice, and it said failed each time.
I'm afraid to try it again, as I don't want to ruin my phone.
Any ideas?

Try going in to recovery by turning off the phone, hold the power and volume down button. Once in recovery, select apply sdcard:update.zip. That should get you get you to clockwork recovery. From there select install zip from sdcard and then choose zip from sdcard. Find the zip and flash it.
Let me know if that works.

Thanks. That was my thinking. A lot of people were asking for apps to be put back in to jt's super clean ROM so I figured this was the easiest way that anyone could just drop in what they want and it would be custom tailored to their needs.
Since I've seen over 200 people look at the page but only 2 download the package, I'm thinking that there's got to be something to the hesitation. Feedback is welcome here, and encouraged. If this is too scary and people want something that they can just flash, throw some ideas out to me. I'm definitely open to suggestions.
I think the holidays may have something to do with it. Personally, I plan to use this once I get my phone rooted (for some reason z4root locks my phone up every time) But I want to wait until the rushing, travelling holiday is over because I cant go without my phone =)
I'm happy with the SuperClean Rom and Voodoo 5 right now, otherwise I'd have given this one a shot.
I'm still using this and I have had no issues. I like being able to choose which programs are going to be on my droid, instead of having all or none that I want.
I am getting same errors also..
I have done super one click..
Run Rom Manager and chose ROM it asks to reboot I get error.
When I choose SD update.zip it boots back into a image that has sceens that have black widgets.. All other Samsung and USSC stuff is still there as well as ROM Manager..

You have to do some work on the files to make ROM Manager working.
Get Clockwork Working
That will let you make the backup.zip and install from the SD card. Threw me for a loop as well.
One thing I do not want to lose or at least be able to find in another app is the SMART ALARM ..
I know... I got used to it in just a couple days. Love the way it sort of eased you awake instead of a full on GET UP..
So question would be. Which apk and dependencies would I need to keep and or anyone know of another app that would give me same with more options.

Deodexed framework/app for 2.2 Froyo Chinese ROM

As requested by some I have deodexed the Chinese 2.2 Froyo ROM from Here
It is the full package for now based on the exact ROM, but I will be putting out another two later one with most Chinese stuff removed and another with a fair bit of the blur social stuff removed.
Flash the package by Clockworkmod recovery in the usual way, over the 2.2 ROM. If you have removed apps they will come back, so you will have to remove them again.
Credits go to:
H5u for posting the original stock 2.2 ROM in the above thread.
Sorensiim for the hosting!
Download Here
Enjoy
NB:
If you get an issue with the camera flash after installing 2.2 chinese ROM with it flashing once and then stopping working/being ot of sync, I don't think its related to the deodexed files, however I fixed it by wiping data for camera 2.21 in Titanium Backup
Thank you!
This is exactly, what I've been waiting for.
Could someone please explain what this Deodexed Framework is and what it does or what it's for?
Thanks

.odex files are present in the system by default and accompany most apps (generally apk+odex). The process of deodexing (afaik) removes these files.
As far as purpose goes, Odex system: generally faster, more stable, Deodexed system: easier to mod (bootscreens, lockscreens, themes, etc)
if you're new to the scene that's basically the nutshell version of what you need to know.
Does this still contain Chinese? We really need it.

I don't know if it's signed version, but use "update from zip" in the recovery mode, i've used like this.
Also you can delete some unneeded apk before updating by open zip with winrar (or other) and delete it directly, because older deleted apk will be installed again...

update zips don't need to be signed for clockworkmod, if you remove apk's from the package and flash, make sure they weren't there before or they'll still be in system minus the odex files.
Oh, clockwork mod. I don't have that. Where to get please.
To be more specific I go into recovery and all I see is
reboot system now
apply sdcard:update.zip
wipe data/factory reset
wipe cache partition
that's it.
Is clockwork mod suppose to replace this?

AROMA file manager that works on Explorer? [SOLVED]

Is there any version of AROMA file manager that works properly on the Explorer? I have discovered that I have some how lost the busybox binary from /system/xbin and now I need to replace it, which I think would probably be easiest by copying from /system/bin with AROMA FM. (If there's a better way, please let me know and I'll do it instead).
(At the moment, my phone won't boot, so it's kinda urgent...)
Isn't easyer to just flash the rom that you already have, with wiping only cache?

No, seeing as that wouldn't fix anything...I'm on stock ROM which does not include busybox, so flashing it would achieve nothing. (To clarify, busybox is required by some script(s) I have installed)
EDIT: Turns out that the latest version of AROMA FM works fine. Booting is certainly getting further now than it did before

No thank you. I have fixed the issue now, without needing to flash a new ROM or anything silly like that (my current setup is exactly what I want, there is no point in me changing it and having to go through the hassle of restoring all my apps, setting up all my accounts again etc.).
All I needed to do was use the latest AROMA FM to copy busybox from /system/bin to /system/xbin. Took all of about 20 seconds once I got a card reader and the latest version of AROMA. Compared to the time required to download and flash a new ROM, and all the app restoring that would be required following doing so (and I don't even have completely updated backups, so I'd be missing some apps/data), I think my solution was better.

[ROM][Stock][Rooted] D850 20f Stock ROM Debloated

Updated: 03/24/2015
Hi all,
I did this mostly for practice but I thought it might be helpful so I went ahead and posted.
Stock LG D850 20f ROM
[*]Rooted/SuperSu
[*]Most bloat removed
[*]Oversharpening fix
[*]Flashable zip
[*]init.d support*
[*]CarrierIQ Remover*
*Init.d support is implemented in ROM only, not the kernel. CarrierIQ is removed automatically after first boot via an init script. Say thanks to @skeevydude for his help in getting this done. I shouldn't say "help", he pretty much did it!
Installation
Flash the Lollipop modem - see @autoprime 's thread here for modem zip
Flash the ROM zip
Wipe cache and dalvik (and in some cases data) if coming from a different ROM
Download
v3* - https://www.androidfilehost.com/?fid=95916177934548695
[QRCODE]https://www.androidfilehost.com/?fid=95916177934548695[/QRCODE]
*No change at all to the ROM itself since v2, I just realized that I've been forgetting to zero out the free space on the image file before uploading, which saves about 600 MB when zipped. New flashable zip is about 1.1 GB instead of 1.7 GB.
Older versions:
v1 - https://www.androidfilehost.com/?fid=95916177934543883
Apps Removed
/system/app:
Google Books
Google Chrome
Google Cloud Print
Google Drive
Facebook
Hangouts
Google Newsstand
Google Play Games
Google Play Music
Google Play Movies and TV
Google Plus
Twitter
/system/priv-app:
ATT Address Book
ATT Caller Name ID
ATT DriveMode
ATT Games
ATT Locker
ATT Lookout
ATT Mobile Locate
ATT Remote Support
ATT Smart Wifi
ATT Mobile TV
ISIS Wallet
ATT Visual Voicemail
MLT (LG tracker)
/system/vendor/app:
Amazon Kindle
ATT Family Map
ATT Home
ATT Keeper
ATT MHS Launcher
ATT Navigator
Uber
DeviceHelp
myATT
YP Mobile
ATT Apps
In case you want some of the ATT apps back, I have uploaded a zip here with those apps. This is NOT a flashable zip. You have a couple of options:
1. You may be able to install these as a normal (user) app by just pulling out the apk and installing the usual way.
2. If that doesn't work as expected, copy the app folder from the zip into the appropriate system folder as listed in the "Apps Removed" section.

Xposed Info
cmulk said:
Xposed has a couple of bad side effects at this point, so before doing anything you need to use Titanium or something similar to Freeze (this basically what the "helper" does):
LGSmartCover
Weather
Weather Theme
WeatherPlatform
Then you can install xposed as in the thread here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=3034811
However, there is still one more bug to keep in mind: Xposed will crash the Tethering and Networks menu. There is no fix for that yet, but as a workaround you can download some apps from the play store (like Mobile Network Settings), to shortcut around the menu that force closes.

@autoprime - Flashable zips, bump'd boot.img, and very clear instructions in his thread here
@timmytim - uploading the lollipop stock images (although I know a lot of others were working on that too)
@Skin1980 - Oversharpening fix
@skeevydude - init.d support and carrierIQ remover
CarrierIQ Removal
CarrierIQ has now been removed!
The removal is done via an init script that runs at boot to disable the IQ service before removing the files in order to prevent a force close. However, if you have to wipe data/factory reset without re-flashing the ROM, you will get a force close on the first boot. The good news is that I've tested this scenario and it should fix itself if you just wait about 20 seconds. In other words, the mentioned script does it's thing to stop the service to fix the force close and you are good to go after that.
Old info below:
cmulk said:
On the 20f lollipop rom (either mine or stock, there's no difference) either freezing LADDM or removing the libraries and LADDM as you mention will cause a force close unless you disable the "IQService" first, which is built into the framework-res.apk. I have repeated it multiple times and it has been discussed quite a bit in the Lounge and other threads. Disabling the service is easy for users to do with the "DisableService" app, and then you can remove LADDM and the libraries as mentioned. The difficulty is that disabling a service is a user setting, so, for example, if I reflash my ROM without the IQ files onto a phone with clean /data, I will again get the force close and an unusable ROM.

Manual Steps
In the meantime, here is how users can manually disable CarrierIQ. I take no credit for this method, it is posted in several places by several people, I'm just putting it here for convenience:
YOU MUST DO THIS IN ORDER (or at least the first few steps)
1. Download the "DisableService" app from the play store
2. In the DisableService app, go to System -> Android System and disable the "IQService" service
3. Use a root explorer to delete the folder /system/app/LADDM
4. Use a root explorer to delete /system/lib/libiq_client.so and /system/lib/libiq_service.so
5. (Optional) Uninstall DisableService
Remember, disabling the service is a user setting, so if you need to wipe /data for some reason, you will need to re-flash the ROM (which has the CarrierIQ files included) or else you will get a constant force close when your phone boots.
I'll give it a try, thanks
Flashing now. Will report.

Flashing lollipop Issues
Thanks for your work.... When flashing the 2 lollipop roms, 9 out of 10 times I get just a screen with icons, no wallpaper, no notification pull down no buttons at the bottom. I flash the modem the rom then SU and clear cache. I have only got the other ROM to flash successfully once. The same is going on with this ROM, is this happening to anyone else. I flashed it 5 times with the same results, would anyone know why this is happening, seems others dont have this issue. Thank you again for bringing us a debloated Lollipop rom.

Here is what I understand for a clean flash:
"1. Boot into Recovery
2. Make a Nandroid backup
3. Wipe data/factory reset
4. Wipe cache partition
5. Wipe Dalvik Cache
6. Flash ROM
7. DO NOT REBOOT – STAY IN RECOVERY
8. Select backup and restore
9. Select advanced restore
10. Select the Nandroid backup you made above
11. Select Restore data
12. Select Yes – Restore data
13. WAIT!
14. REBOOT"
What I do not understand is step 8, which selects the backup made in step two... and then flashing the backup over the (new) ROM flash in step 6. Wouldn't that overwrite the new ROM you just flashed?

I have not seen that issue, but in case you are not clearing data you may need to try clearing dalvik cache.
Also, (and this is just a shot in the dark) you could try formatting system before doing anything else just in case something strange is left behind there.

You can try dirty flashing first without losing any of your data.
1. Back up your current Boot and System
2. Back up your current modem (if you're coming from the Kitkat modem), or just download a flashable KK modem already posted on XDA
3. Flash the modem and ROM in this post
4. Wipe cache and dalvik
5. See if it works
If it's not working, then you will need to restore your boot, system, and modem to go back to your original kitkat setup without losing data.
Otherwise, you'll have to backup with Titanium and do a clean flash (wipe data) as already mentioned. Using Titanium makes clean flashing not so bad
I do clear Wipe cache and dalvik I wipe everything and it boots back into a desktop and thats it no notification, the same thing happened with the first lollipop.. but after 10 flashes it finally took... so I thought Id try your de-bloated and the same thing is happening again, not sure why this is. I can jump back to kk after flashing the modem without issues. Thank you again for your work.

I agree that I use most or all of these Google apps as well. However, they update so often anyway that I prefer to just have them as user apps (otherwise you end up with 2 copies - the old static version in the system apps folder, and the updated version in the user apps folder).
As for the visual voicemail, I have posted the ATT apps in a zip in the OP. Visual voicemail is in the VVM_ATT folder.
Thanks!

Sure thing! That's actually what I meant to do in post 13. I am not sure if you can flash over 10f without wiping data, but you could give it a try without losing anything (except time) if you look at post 13.
You should clear cache and dalvik mostly any time you are flashing, unless you are just flashing over another stock 20f ROM.

Ever since flashing this I'm getting "no sd card" messages every time I try to download anything ( I don't have an external sd card) but it's never been a problem before. I've restored a backup of my stock Tim and the problem followed me after full wipes.

It's my first time customizing an android phone after rooting it, and I have to say, there's a lot to learn. Samsung devices are made to read qmg files when it comes to boot animations, but I'm already making my own boot animations, and I have a lot of questions I hope this post isn't that long.
================================
1- after installing CWM can I UNINSTALL it using odin? Or is there any other way to do it without my computer?
================================
2- I know that you can't UNflash files, so when I flash a zip file (specifically bootanimations4U) what files should I back up? I'd rather back up only the files that will be replaced? Or is there an app to back up files from a certain folder and just bring them back if I want to bring back the normal animations?
================================
3- let's say that my device is rooted, it has CWM installed, and also, has the . zip enabler flashed already and in use. I'm planning to FORMAT my phone in a couple of weeks because I want to use it as if it's rooted with the whole storage available (I don't have storage problems I just want to do that) but my question is...
==========
-Q3: if my goal is just to delete my data and apps only, can I just use the factory reset from the settings? Do I need to do anything regarding CWM or the zip file I've flashed? Will CWM be deleted? Will I have to flash that .zip reader enabler (bootanimations 4u) again? What do I need to do if I needed to reset my phone without any problems?
================================
4- is there a file size limit for the bootanimations.zip files on Samsung devices (galaxy s5 android 6.0) and also the audio file size limit?
================================
5- what is the condition in which I have to flash the bootanimation4U.samsungani.zip file and not the other one?
If u want to format you can do it by wiping data, cache, dalvik it does not effect custom recovery and reboot
