What is the appropriate RUU for CID: HTC__J15

I don't know but I do know there's a Q and A section for posts like this.

You're right. I am sorry.
If MODs can move my thread, please do.

It is an Arabic version, so you need a rom with X.XX.415.X. RUUs available are 1.28.415.9 & 1.29.415.11, though the latest update is 2.17.415.2, but the RUU has NOT been leaked or found yet. You can only get it via OTA update after flashing 1.29.415.11.

The point is how to flash that old Arabic RUU and then update, when trying to flash the old RUU I get an error that the bootloader version is newer.

You cant. Not until we get S-off.

ICS OTA update on debranded Sensation

Hi all, apologies if this has been answered elsewhere.
I have a debranded Vodafone Sensation using Revolutionary and then CID change, S-Off, etc.
Is it safe to accept the OTA version of ICS, or better to go the whole hog and wait for the RUU? Is one available?
Thanks in advance.
OTA will be fine, or you can flash the RUU from the Shipped ROMs thread if you don't mind losing your data - it's up to you
If you're going to go down the OTA route, you have to be 100% stock bar the HBOOT to flash it without issues (e.g. not rooted, stock recovery)
Hi Eddy, thanks for the response.
I just did the necessary in order to debrand and unlock the phone to accept the Gingerbread stock RUU, I presume I would be OK with the OTA, or would you recommend the RUU?
Hi Eddy
I have received the OTA notification for the latest ICS update, but I am confused- I'm still S-off, hboot 1.18; should I not have received this update?
I think I would prefer to start again with an RUU executable programme to wipe the phone- is such a thing available yet?
Many thanks.
The 3.32.401.5 RUU is in the Shipped ROMs thread if you want it. OTA is fine if you're 100% stock but with S-OFF

and please is this RUU version 3.32.401.5 the same build as build distributed by OTA? In case I will apply it I would like to have solved "tap to URL" problem that was in original OTA file for Nordic countries and possibly in elevate distribution..

He means to check your firmware.
When upgrading to ICS you need to update your firmware. There's a thread by mike1986 that'll help you. You can find it in developer thread.

Yes, you need a newer firmware that's running ICS correctly.
It as been updated to the latest firmware to run ICS but the lad I bought it off said then's when all the problems began. So I was thinking of trying to downgrading it back to gingerbread [stock or custom rom] to see if that would sort the problems out

Have you installed a Custom Firmware or a Stock-Rom from ICS?
What firmware has you installed yet?
it was already rooted with a custom ISC rom installed So it came straight from a stock gingerbread rom to a custom ISC rom
Hello Freddy!
Have you tried to install another custom rom or re-install the one you already have? My guess is that it's not ICS that's messing with you but rather the ROM/firmware is. My tip for a rom is Ordroid (You can find it in the developer section of the sensation forum).
I don't know how experienced you are with rooting/flashing roms etc but when you go from one ROM to the other it's recommended to format the different partions (except SD-card).
Also here is a thread about different firmwares and how to install them if you don't want to change rom and just try a different firmware to see if it gets any better
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1459767
Here you have an all-in-one thread linking to different guides and fixthreads etc as well

How do you know if your downloading the right firmware [Unlocked UK sensation]
You can also download the latest ICS RUU. Then you will be completely stock, with the correct firmware. from there you can always try custom roms If you don't like the stock ones.
You can find the RUU's in the Pyramid Shipped Roms thread in de developers section

Hi
I decided to try and restore it to stock gingerbread rom put am not sure what rom and firmware I will need
You van download the RUU in the Shipped roms thread, If you run the RUU then everything will be installeren, firmware, radio, rom etc.
You can find the thread in the developers section. For europe you need the RUU with RUU_PYRAMID_1.50.401.2 in it's file name.

usually
go to the development section of htc sensation and look for virtuous or another ics and inside that same post, they will tell you which pyramid you can install, for your cellphone,
Flash a stock GB RUU so you will be putting the phone back to out of the box. Then start fresh reading all the tutorials available
am not sure which one i would need though
http://db.tt/1vf53aOI
This is a link for the 1.45 europe RUU. You can update it OTA to 1.50 to get the latest Gingerbread rom. Make sure you have the correct CID either HTC__001 or superCID.
If you want to flash the stock ICS rom then here's the RUU for that: http://db.tt/KLhJSmgk

CID... Is carrier identification.. It is to identify which model is linked to which carrier or whether it is unbranded.
A device with a particular cid.. Only receives update from that carrier only. (eg recently TMOBILE US ppl got ics)
If your cid is HTC__001 then your phone is Europe unbranded (not linked to any carrier) one
Now supercid is a unique cid (11111111)
That lifts carriers restrictions.. If you got supercid you can install official rom's (RUU) of any carrier and any country
Sent from my pyramid.. Through blazing fast sonic waves
Its unlocked to work with any network Is the supercid part of the rooting process

You won't get that update. It is for Asian phones. You can unlock and install on of the zips in the development thread though. They work fine for the most part and are jellybean and work on AT&T.

Sorry. I completely missed the 2.23 in your post. I have no idea. I would just stay unlocked and use the recovery flash able zip.

Download CID Getter from the play store to determine your CID Version. Then, refer here for the hboot file http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1957376 and download the one that matches your CID number(if it doesn't matches any of it, then you've gotta wait for your carrier to roll it out).
After you've downloaded it, you can flash it manually or use the tool here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1924003
Good luck btw

Do I need to update my RUU if I'm installing a CM10.1 based rom?

I was running ViperRom XL, and it messed up my phone. I was thinking about going back to stock but wanted to give another rom a try before doing that. I was considering installing Avatar Rom which says to follow the Cyanogenmod directions for installation. The first line when looking at Cyanogenmod's installation instructions is:
The CM 10.1 builds require you to be updated to the newest 3.17/3.18 RUU (for the updated firmware and the 2.14 hboot). You also must downgrade your touchscreen firmware, see here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=38304611&postcount=1
That line seemed a little ambiguous to me, and I wanted to make sure I absolutely understood before continuing.
I'm only running hboot ver 1.14.0002 with S-OFF and SuperCID. Since I never updated to 2.14, does that mean I don't need to update my RUU to 3.17/3.18? Do I need to downgrade my touchscreen firmware?
Or can I get right into flashing the new rom?
Thanks in advance for your help.
Yes, if it has the 3.4 kernel you will need to RUU up to 3.18.

Great, thanks!
I need to edit this because I have a choice overload with all of these RUUs. I went to http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2191477. I'm running on AT&T, but the latest RUU (RUU_EVITA_UL_JB_45_S_Cingular_US_3.18.502.6_Radio_ 0.24p.32.09.06_10.130.32.34_release_signed.exe) doesn't mention AT&T. In fact, the only AT&T RUU is the 1.44 version (RUU_Evita_UL_ATT_US_1.44.502.1_Radio_0.15.3201.09_ release_249105.exe).
Would I use the Cingular 3.18 version? Which is the correct RUU to update to?
The Cingular 3.18 one is the correct att one.

If you look at the first post in the Dev thread, you will also see that it is no longer necessary for you to downgrade your touchpanel firmware. H8 had that removed quite a while ago.

Yep. But you might need to downgrade your touchscreen firmware for the older ROMs using the 3.0 kernel.
