Is your bootloader unlocked? If it is, have you flashed a custom recovery?

It works, i did it yesterday itself . But i was skeptical about actually rooting with the tool so i flashed the recovery via it. (that too i had to replace the recovery for one x tools data folder with the one for sensation)

I just did the same thing as you did yesterday. EXCEPT flashing the kernel....so you have gone wrong there !
I couldn't properly understand if you can enter the bootloader or not. If you can do this...
1. Install a ROM from the great guide above. I suggest Android Revolution HD
2. In the AndroidRevolution HD .zip file, you will have kernels...select anyone and extract the boot.img into the folder where your ADB and fastboot.exe are in your computer.
3. Run cmd, then navigate to that folder and type "fastboot flash boot boot.img"
Im assuming you can access the bootloader.

Hello Experts,
i am using unlocked desire s with hboot 2.00.002.
i unlocked my device using htc unlock method.
i installed su binaries and i have done complete rooting of my device with S-ON
now the problem is, when i tried to port the PRIMO S 3.4 for DESIRE S and it ported succesfully, but when reboot the system after porting, my device is hangging at HTC screen and moving on ...
i waited for more than hour to check whether the screen will move on.. but in vain.
also i am not able to port any other ROMS tooo..
any suggestions or any steps i am missing here..
please help
porting is not what you are doing, porting is the process of converting a rom from one device to another.
what ever it might be... i am looking for a solution where i can install ICS ROM on my DESIRER S

You have to flash the boot.img in fastboot. You copy the boot.img into the platform-tools folder in the android-sdk folder. Have you downloaded the android sdk?
i have andriod sdk !!!
can you help me frm where i can take the boot.img and flash it...
right you extract the boot.img from the rom zip. Drag it into the platform-tools folder
2. go to command prompt and navigate to the platform tools folder. once your in there type in fastboot.exe then type this command in without the quotation marks "fastboot flash boot boot.img is that too complicated? If it is I can simplify it
---------- Post added at 01:15 PM ---------- Previous post was at 01:11 PM ----------
may I add that you have to be in bootloader. It will have fastboot hi lighted so you press the power button and it will then change to fastboot usb then thats when you flash the boot.img You may want to google how to flash boot.img with htc unlock as that will be a more detailed guide.

Glad I could help! You're the first person of many that I hope to help on this forum. I've only really started to gain knowledge on this whole thing. I remember when I was at the stage when I didn't know what a rom was! To think that was only 9 months ago Oh and one more thing to help you rajeshmb4u next time you say "Port" You really mean "Flash" That will help you with the less friendly members that may only correct you on your terminology instead of trying to help!
Thanks sharpinator. I just started used for this terminology. Surely I understood the difference between porting and flashing. Thanks a ton

Need more info. Hboot version, s-on s-off. What did you do that got you in a bootloop?
If you are S-on sometimes you need to "Fastboot boot boot.img" I used to have to do it for my vivid, I'd either get bootloops or WiFi broken. I'm not expert or anything but it could be that...

You should really do some reading on this phone. People have bricked them by not reading enough before attempting flashing ROMs. Flashing the wrong rom, become familiar with adb/ fastboot commands, and generally how the phone works and the proper steps to get it accomplished successfully. And after reading if u still aren't 100% then ask before attempting, its easier to find it something won't work right before you flash and then need help to recover the device.

You are boot looping because on hboot 1.14 you can't flash the boot image from recovery. Has to be pushed with fastboot.. So the boot image from your previous ROM is still there, resulting in a boot loop

Haha! I was gonna say something similar to this as hboot 1.14 + s-on + flashing boot.img is posted ALL OVER THE DAMN PLACE and if not just from reading a sticky, a search surely would pull this info up... but then i figured, what's the point? OP won't care and people will continue to not read and have issues as a result. Best thing to do is just embrace the noobs with their nooblike behaviour!

Also, don't run the latest ruu if you want to root. That will limit you from rooting.
You have a lot of reading to do my friend, I'm not even gonna touch this thread.

+1 best advice so far
OP, do yourself a huge favor and listen to this. I personally don't care how familiar you THINK you are with mobile devices, EVERY device is different. Sit down, relax and read. If you can't get the terms RUU, HBOOT or don't even know if you have the Evita, please read everything possible before you brick your phone. If you do brick, don't come crying here about how to unbrick either.

if i make root to the phone, the result - root access to the bootloader > so i could install another recovery for my phone > what gives to me access to install another ROM or *.zip file ..
another result can be Brick .. that i could use the phone for paper holder, or door stopper ...
can't see this working out well....
