I don't have my GSN10.1 yet, so have no idea if you can actually open the back easily, so this is all theory, but...!
All of my Nokias I used to have back in the day had the squeaking. It came from the back cover rubbing against the main body. From the other thread I understand what is happening with the GSN10.1 is probably a similar phenomenon.
You could easily get rid of it the squeaking in the Nokias by gently rubbing a chapstick along the edge of the back cover.
worth a shot! you can't really break anything (assuming the back is removable)

Dunno. My back doesnt creak in the slightest. Perhaps get a sturdy case?

[Q] Small bump on back cover

Hi everyone. I've been a long time lurker here, just recently registered and have my first question that I wasn't able to find through searching. I got my NS the weekend after launch. Coming from a G1. I love it so far.
My question. Has anyone else noticed a small bump on the back cover? Its on the little grill where the speaker (or fan) is; to the right of the camera lens. There are the two slits and the middle piece of plastic is raised just slightly to where I can feel that it is there.
I'm trying to figure out if it is a design or a defect. I couldn't find anything searching through the forums. If this is the wrong section, please feel free to move it.
I was trying to take a picture, but the plastic is so reflective that the phone wouldn't focus on the piece that I want. So I'll have to use an actual camera later. I took the back cover off, and it doesn't look like the plastic is bent (the inside of the cover is flat). So it might be by design. But it bothers me none the less.
Thanks.
I do believe it is design,
so when the phone lays on its back the speaker hole has some space to project sound
Ahhh...that actually makes sense.
Thanks for the response. I ordered a BSE skin for it a few days ago, so hopefully the little bump won't impede the cover too much.

ya most covers have the whole space around the speaker removed, so the bump doesnt get in the way

Exactly. The Galaxy S i9000 and T-Mo Vibrant have the same thing, only it's much less pronounced than on the SNS.

htc sensation back casing defect

Does anyone have this slight problem? When pressing down at the bottom of the phone near the search symbol you hear a cracking sound? It looks like there is loose space.. hard to explain but it is annoying me, good enough reason to go back tmobile store and get a new replacement?
i have slight movement in that corner, makes a creek slightly but not a crack.
I also have this on my current phone. Mine is bad and with a couple of other issue I have a replacement coming today. My worry is the problem is with the back cover and if they send the warranty replacement without the back cover it will not fix the issue.
However if I get a perfect device and this is the only issue I might try to put something in the case to fill or tighten up this area and I can live with that.
I have similar issue. I just don't feel it solid.
If I push at any side of the phone, I will hear the light cracking sound.
I put some tape on the cover. No more creaking
pictures?
I get annoyed when I press the touch button, I hear the creaking noise.
damn.

The creaking on my Sensation is more towards the middle-right. Really annoying.
Got my thoughts and results on the issue here:
http://forum.vodafone.co.uk/t5/HTC-Sensation/The-creak/td-p/815521
wow another problem i dont have
I didn't at the start to be honest, just one day when I went to the local Voda store to get a new sim and I started feeling it, either way gone with the new back, or gone with the old back and lots of sticky labels.
Will be nice to have a scratch free back up down the line I guess.
there's a thread about that here somewhere. my first one had it, my current one doesn't
I had a cracking sound near the corner. However, I removed the cover and put it back on and it's dead silent. There is still some movement possible but no sound anymore. The phone I currently have is quite good only there is a scratch on the back of my screen so I have to return it. I really hope I get a good phone back.

Here are the pictures. Very simple, just put several layers of tape where the creaking is.

I did the same. Fixed it
Weird thing was I never had this problem when i got the phone...
I'm just going back to the t-mobile store and exchange it for a new one.. i wonder if they would give me a new one right off the bat~
my previous unit had the same issue, and i hated it. i returend it prompltly and my current one is perfect, nice & tight.
I went to the store today, They just exchanged my back cover and its working perfectly now =)
great to know. I will ask the store to have it changed.

You could give the place where your phone has been assembled, it could help identifying possible faulty batches.
f.
I added a couple of small pieces of thin foam tape inside the case near the bottom corners. Snug as a bug, and no more creaking

Noisy Battery Cover?

Hi, I was curious if other owners have a clicky noise when they press on their battery cover? Its really irritating. I took off my battery cover to see what the problem was and found out its either a loose screw or just the design itself. If I touch anywhere in the "RED" location of the picture I will hear a popping/clicking noise. I was thinking I might need to tighten one of the two "GREEN" screws. But I dont have a small enough screwdriver. Just curious if anyone else noticed this? If Im the only one I was going to pick up a Glasses Repair Kit.
Thanks for any response.
I have no noise when I press on that spot...or any other spot.
You are not alone on this. Most people dont see it until the back cover has been removed several times. Mine started doing it after removing it about half a dozen times. The most common and simple suggestion to fix it is to take a post it note type piece of paper, cut it down to size to fit under the cover where the noise is originating at (where you are touching it to produce the sound). If it doesnt work, try it again. My phone is almost completely silent now. Hope this helps.
Thank you very much. I'll give it a try.

My GNex did that directly under the camera cut out on my battery cover. I got the OEM Samsung extended battery and that fixed it.

Give the slip of paper trick a shot. I know its a dirty solution, but it sure beats hearing that creak all the time and being reminded about it (and its also free).
Mine did that too but it was on the top right hand corner if the screen is facing you. I replaced the back cover with the Samsung flip cover and it eliminated the noise for me. It also made the camera recessed into the back cover which I was very happy about. Maybe it will keep it from getting scratched so easily.

[Q] Muffled Audio / Distorted Audio issue?

Hey peeps,
I've noticed that people complain they cant understand/hear what I'm saying to them when I'm in call and holding the phone in between my shoulder and ear (you know...like using both my hands to do something else while on the phone)
I was curious if anyone else is experiencing this issue because I'm ready to send my phone back to T-Mobile and have them replace mine. Oh and my battery life is terrible. Not sure if that is due to the ViperROM or just from using and charging the phone for the last several months.
Please give me some feedback. I know I'm going to have to reload the stock android rom on my device before sending it in if I do

I had a similar problem, everyone was telling me that they couldn't hear me or that it sounded like I was on speaker phone. Turns out some gunk had gotten into the mic hole. I cleaned it out with a needle and my problem was fixed. Might want to check that.
ill also have to see if its the cheap $7 plastic casing i have around the phone. gosh this mic hole is tiny and is covered by the casing
the hole is down on the bottom right of the phone right?
Bottom right is correct. You might try drilling a small 1/4" hole for a mic opening in the case.

That is actually a good idea. I'll try it if I isolate the problem to the case. I'm using my phone casually without the case now to see if its the issue.
My hands struggle to grasp the tiny phone now lol, the case is small but the phone itself is slick and smooth metal. Loved this phone when they first set it in my hand at the kiosk

A bulge/bump on the back cover

Hi guys,
I got my nexus 5 a while ago and notice theres a bulge on the back cover right under the camera, i emailed google and got a replacement but it has the same bulge.
Will it cause any issue? The bulge is on top of the vibration motor.
I googled it and found some others having the same issue but nothing else about it.
Attaching the picture of it.

since you googled about it and found others but nothing else about it.. tell me, is it really an "issue"? i did check mine regardless, and dont have a bulge.
Even I checked mine and it doesn't have any bulge whatsoever.
Isn't there a clip there? Push down on it and it might click into place. Maybe it just wasn't installed correctly from factory.

hmm... so its a rare case... and i have 2 of them...
I too think its a plastic defect, when i shine it on the light, it looks like a patch on the cover.
but its right on top of the vibration motor, so i wonder if anyone know will that cause an issue or not
edit: lol.. just did some test, the vibration motor is loose.... another RMA..

open up the case and check if the lock is properly locked in, there is a lock on the place you mentioned, I've had the issue and i opened up and found it was not closed properly (ironically by the service center guys) and i closed it back on. Check if the vibrator works all the time or only when you press down on the bulge(if it does it's not a huge issue).
Guys don't waste time RMA'ing, just a simple fixable problem which anyone can do if you want to know more about your device and it is a bit of a learning also.
