Bricked, dead, whatever you call it. - HTC Inspire 4G

Hey Guys,
I was deleting partitions on my old I4G and not paying attention whilst doing it.
I have managed to delete the system partition, and no cannot get passed the white boot screen. I tried to fix it with adb and fastboot, but just not sure what it is I need....recovery image, boot image?
If I do
Code:
adb shell
even that fails saying it cannot find sh
I have no problem getting my hand dirty, just need to know where to start.
Luckily this was an old phone so I can wait for sage advice.
Thanks all.

S-on or off?
I'm assuming off. Do you have a backup of your rom?
Try
Adb reboot recovery from the splash screen

Yes, S-OFF.
I can now boot into recovery, but not sure what to do next. Or more precisely...what do I push/flash?
Thanks

You're gonna have to re-flash your ROM... or a new ROM. Might I suggest LordClockaN's Ice Cold Sandwich.

Just so you know, your system partition is where your Rom is installed to. Can't just wipe it unless you're installing a new Rom. Follow teichopsia's guide as it has everything you need to know before diving into Rom flashing.

Thanks guys, very much appreciated info.
I'll do it shortly and let you know the outcome.

I have an Evo Shift that was running Android 2.2, then I clockworked modded it and accidentaly applied the cyanogenmod update before S-OFF, it can go to the clockword recovery screen and all that, It just stays on white screen when i reboot.
*NO BACKUP* Please help!!!
Search for the 2.2 RUU and run it. Then you'll be back to stock where you can root using the shiftrr.exe, I would link you to the RUU but I've been sick in bed for about 4 days now

No need for RUU.
Boot cwm and wipe data/factory reset, wipe dalvik, format /system and /data and flash cm7 and gapps.

I do not have S-OFF, what happened was I had Froyo 2.2, I temp rooted, downloaded Cyanogen mod whatever, got the clockwork recovery, and while in that accidentally Updated to Cyanogen, with no Backup, Now all it will let me to is the H-Boot screen (Fastboot, Recovery, etc.) and Clockwork recovery mode, it says i cant mount my SD and when it could it wouldnt let me update to froyo 2.2 saying its bad.
*******
******************************************************EDIT**************************************EDIT****************************EDIT ************************** Also I tried the 2.2 RUU and it got stuck at 13%, I found a way around it( the way i downgraded the first time ), but I cant get the phone to work to do it again, as explained above.

So where are you at? Does the phone Boot into Recovery? Did you finally get the RUU to run all the way through? Does the phone boot up like it normally would?

Okay, I can go to HBOOT screen (Where it list Fastboot, Recovery, Factory Reset, Etc.) It can boot into Clockwork recovery, and if it tries to boot normal, it stays at white HTC screen. Will not mount SD card, S-ON.
And No, the RUU will not run all the way through.

Did you get the RUU to run all the way through? So that you are " S-On " on Froyo 2.2. If you did then it is a simple matter of fully rooting the device to avoid this from happening again. You can use THIS to root if you are already on 2.2 .
Thank you,

You had to run it in fastbook mode, and it worked? I tried that and it still got stuck on me.
That's really strange the ruu isn't working. I've used it before on windows 7 and it worked ok for me. Maybe your missing some drivers or something for your phone? I've never ran ruu from fastboot so I can't help you there. What version of windows are you running currently? Also what ruu are you using? Is it the 2.3.4 one?
If you need a link to it I've downloaded it from here and it works for me:

If you dont have to, do not update to the 2.3.4RUU . Running the RUU from fastboot is simple. Boot into HBoot, the choose fastboot. Connect the USB cord, it will say fastboot usb. Then just open and run the RUU from the desktop.

Flashing ROMs on MT4GS with TWRP

Sorry for the noob question, but this isn't my phone. I'm trying to flash ROMs on my buddy's Doubleshot using TWRP. I use this recovery on my Hercules every day, so I'm very familiar with it. I try to flash using the standard procedure (wipe, install zip, reboot) and when I reboot, it just hangs. I tried wiping cache and it still hangs. Is there something else I could have missed? I've tried several different ROMs.
Is he S-On? If so you will need to fastboot flash the boot.img!

So even if I already have a custom recovery installed, I still have to install via fastboot if it's S-ON? Actually, I think I may have seen that somewhere...I may have more reading to do.
EDIT: Yes, I found it. No more replies needed (for now!)
Pls can anyone help me with link for superwipe script for mt4gs

[Q] Bricked my HTC One S

Hi all,
Got mine today, tried to install a ROM and it got stuck in bootloop.
I did a number of stupid things not to mention wiping the SD and im in serious trouble.
I can get into bootloader and CWM but thats it.
Ive heard restoring a RUU can cure it but I have a MAC and cant find anything to help.
Can anyone help? Im gutted....and fell like an idiot.
Ive got an S4 on the three network.
Thanks
Hold down the power button for 10 seconds then after the touch buttons stop flashing, just hold the volume button and see if ot enters the bootloader.

i cleared my cache
wiped my data and wiped the dalvik cache all perfectly fine when i try to flash the cm10 official rom back on it cannot mount the sd card
i would try to install a different recovery and try again maybe using viper one s
but i cannot get the phone to power on
it doesnt showup on the computer when it is plugged in while in fastboot
when i try the cmd fastboot flash recovery it says waiting for device
any advice. this is not my own phone so i need it repaired pretty quickly.

Are you on HBOOT 1.14? Did you flash the boot.img in fastboot?
Do you have a backup? You can get back to recovery by holding volume down and pushing the power button for ~15 seconds. When the capacitive buttons stop flashing, release the power button but keep holding volume down. That should get you to the bootloader screen. You can choose recovery or fastboot there.

Where did you perform the factory reset? All resetting needs to be done inside twrp.
If that is all truly gone, you need to try and mount the phone as storage when you plug into your pc. From there, reload the Rom you wanted. Go back into twrp and wipe all cache. Then do a system wipe. Finally do a factory reset INSIDE twrp.
Now go to Install in twrp.
Select your rom zip.
Swipe to flash.
Follow Aroma Installer and select your preferences.
Be patient and let it do the install as it will take a little while.
Let it finish and follow steps to reboot.
Once rebooted you need to again be patient as the first boot will take a while.
Enjoy!!

[Q] Can't get into recovery

Hey guys. For some odd reason I'm having issues with my AT&T HOX. I was running the Sense 5 rom and everything was running great. I was going to flash a battery % mod so, I held the power button down to get to the reboot menu to go into recovery. Well I accidently tapped the power off button instead of reboot. Crap! No problem, I thought. When I powered the phone back up again, the phone just sat on the HTC Quiet Brilliantly screen and wouldn't go any further. So, I held down the power button to force it to shut down, held the volume down key to go to the bootloader and then into TWRP. I couldn't get into TWRP. The phone would get to the TWRP splash screen and then reboot. But then it wouldn't even go back into android. It would just stay at the HTC screen. The only way I could get it into android was to RUU the phone. I flashed TWRP 2.3.3.0 on it via adb but now I still can't get into TWRP. The phone goes into a boot loop on the TWRP splash screen. I tried to do a fastboot wipe cache but that didn't help at all. Any suggestions?
You flashed recovery with adb..? You need to flash it with fastboot. Always check the md5 of your files to make sure they're good
Sent from my HTC One X using xda app-developers app
Haha, sorry, I meant fastboot. I flashed it with fastboot. When it didn't work the first time. I re-downloaded twrp and flashed it again. Same results.

Did you run the RUU? Which one? Running a RUU will restore stock recovery.
Also, the command is fastboot erase cache. Is that what you did?
Yes, I ran the AT&T 3.18 ruu. Don't worry I have s-off. The phone booted up fine after I ran the AT&T ruu. I then wanted to flash TWRP so I could install a different rom. I went to the bootloader and flashed TWRP 2.3.3.0. I flashed it with the OneX toolkit. I also did a fastboot erase cache when it didn't want to boot into TWRP. When I try to get into TWRP, it gets to the splash screen of TWRP, then the screen flashes for a second and it won't go any further. It keeps doing that until I force the phone to shut down. I am using the phone now but on 3.18 and I can't root it. I am stock. EWW!

I'm not a big fan of toolkits. They let you skip over learning things you really need to know.
Try downloading the twrp image, check the md5 to be sure it downloaded correctly, and flash in fastboot manually.
It's possible something isn't working right with the toolkit.

Just a few minutes ago, I re-downloaded TWRP again and flashed it with fastboot flash recovery. It said it was successful but, it is still doing the same thing. TWRP acts like it wants to boot but it won't. It gets to the splash screen and then it will just blink on and off, on and off until I force the phone to shut off.

I would try Goo Manager, then give up if it doesn't work. CWM is okay for this phone now.

Been there did that. Still won't work. Going to forget it and stick with CWM for now.
