[Q] voice recorder - Galaxy Note 10.1 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

What's the best voice recorder for note 10.1

Built in
Sent from my GT-N8013

Could you please tell us where is the built in voice recorder? I wasn't able to find it yet.
thanks in advance,
Nimel.

Depending on the firmware version and region in some "Voice recorder" is built in in some not (like mine with German XXALGA) but methinks it will be implemented in future updates.
Meanwhile I use a free app "easy Voice Recorder"

Thank you a lot, I will try it.

I haven't used it but isn't there a voice recorder in s-note?

Sound recorder
Actually there is an "hidden" app called "Sound Recorder".
I found it in Settings-Application manager-All.
To create a link to launch it I had to use "Any Cut" (select Activity and there will be a very long list op apps, included the "hidden" ones. Look for "Sound Recorder").
[ BTW Any Cut works on the GNote but it's somehow misteriously hidden itself in Google Play as you get no result by searching for it. Anyway it's actually there if you use the following direct link:
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.appdroid.anycut&feature=search_result
Last update is October 21, 2008 and its interface is ugly on a tablet...
Does anyone knows of a more recent alternative with the same functionality (i.e. create links to some system or hidden apps)? ]
So I could finally use the "Sound Recorder" stock app.
It's a very basic app (probably just intended as a tool for other apps) and it doesn't even let you save the recording with a name in some selected folder.
My test recording was automatically named "recording-[long number].3gpp" and saved in the /sdcard/ folder
I could listen to it with ES Media Player (the player embedded in ES file Explorer) but also with Video Player.
That was just out of curiosity...
If you need a good full featured voice recording app I really think you should find and choose another one on the market, like the one suggested by troed.
BTW my baseband version is N8000XXLGA

I use "sound recorder" from the play store. I can rename, edit and alot of players read it fine.

[Q] Can I launch another app from my app?

Hi, is there any way to launch another app within my app?
if can, how to navigate back?
Thanks.
I don't think you can - though I'd be interested to hear differently. AFAIK you can only launch certain system apps (such as Marketplace and the video player).
Casey
no,unfortunately you cant......i think)

[Q] How to get Voice Search 3.0 to show up in App Drawer?

Hello xda users/experts, one quick question:
I noticed after upgrading to ICS, the new Voice Search 3.0.1 app doesn't show up in the app drawer anymore, which is a problem since I use headphone commands to make calls (through JAYs Headphone Button app), and the app only recognizes and activates other apps that show up in the app drawer.
What I need to know is, is there a way to get Voice Search 3 to show up in the app drawer? Do I need to modify its .apk? And if so, how should I go about doing that?
Full disclosure, for people that are suffering the same fate, I have found a temporary solution by uninstalling voice search with titanium, and installing voice search 2.X from the market. I would much rather have a more elegant solution though .

LG Voice Recorder On U.S. AT&T Stock Version

I'm trying to see if there's a way to utilize the built-in LG Voice Recorder on the U.S. stock version of the G3 software from AT&T. I see it in the system/priv-app folder, but attempts to manually install it, checking permissions, and even removing and adding the .odex file have yielded no results.
I realize it's available in the international G3 variants, but I prefer my own rooted and debloated U.S. stock version. I was just attempting to see if it can be used as I tend to do a great deal of voice dictation, and I don't want to use a third-party app to do so. Plus, I might learn a thing or two along the way as well.
The app itself is installed already, it just that it's hidden from the app drawer for whatever reason. You can use anycut or any other shortcut creator to create a shortcut to the app activity.

You can also use the G3 TweakBox xposed module and turn that feature on. It will add a button you can press to record while in a phone call.

Thanks for that tip. I used Anycut to create a shortcut to the app. I just wish there were a way to make it visible in the app drawer.

Sms app support over Non-Samsung Phones

Hello guys this wasn't made by me, but since the author released it to the public, im just sharing the steps, if you guys wanna thanks
say hello to mcfasa09 here https://www.reddit.com/r/GearS3/comments/7t9nfd/tizen_messages_app_non_samsung_phone/
"If you don't have a Samsung phone I just found out you can still launch the Messages app. This app allows you to see SMS conversations for all texts sent from the watch. The app will not be visible in the app drawer (thanks a lot, Samsung), but it is still installed on the watch!
If you use a face from an app like WatchMaker you can set a tap action to open an app, and sure enough, "Messages" is listed as an app (select one of the elements in your face, Tap Action/Watch: Select Application/Messages).
What this ultimately means is that it is possible to create an app that, when launched, auto-launches Messages. Essentially adding Messages itself to the app drawer. For now using a tap action is fine, but I'll be making an app for this during this coming week (Of course I couldn't put it on the Samsung app store, but sideloading it to your S3(S2/Sport) will work fine). If you beat me to it please post a link to the download.
Thanks!!
Another note: Once you look up a contact in the messages app, you can then send texts via voice. Another once thought "Smasung phones only" ability.
It's a very simple piece of code. Again if someone wants to beat me to it please post the link to download it (the Tizen Studio project file would also be appreciated). Here's what you need to make it:
https://developer.tizen.org/community/code-snippet/native-code-snippet/launch-another-application
https://developer.tizen.org/ko/deve...anagement/application-controls?langredirect=1
Note that the link is for a native app, rather than a web app.
You will also need to know the package name of the Messages app which can be found using an sdb shell command:
http://developer.samsung.com/forum/thread/how-can-i-know-installed-package-name-by-tool-/201/280289?boardName=SDK&startId=zzzzz~"
When are you releasing the app
Sent from my [device_name] using XDA-Developers Legacy app
I would also like to know.
I'm new to Gear S3. On the link in OP, the dev told that the app should be sideloaded to the watch. How do I sideload apps on my Gear S3? Is it the same as using adb tool?
Any update on this?
HI Any update on this.
Really need help to enable the messaging and call function in my samsung watch.

Can I install a dial app with automatic recording function used in other ROMs other than the default dial app in Arrowrom??

Everyone, I have a question.
The default dial app for this arrow-rom is Google Dial.
Therefore, there is no automatic recording function.
So, can I install the default dial app (auto-recorded one) used by other ROMs??
Where can I install it? (Flashing or apk)
I need automatic recording. It is legally permitted in our country.
However, I hate the Google Dial app because of the right to know the other person.
Try Indonesian stock MIUI firmware it has automatic call recording option! Good luck!

I'm not sure :{
I don't know how to use the firmware.
I will be staying in Erorom.
What I want is a basic phone dialing app in crrom, habokrom
Flashable or apk installation app required
Basic ROMs have an automatic recording function.
However, since Arrowrom is a Google Dial app, automatic recording is not supported.
Please help
