Phone creaking when squeezed - Verizon Samsung Galaxy S III

Has anyone else noticed that their device makes a creaking sound when squeezing it in certain places between your thumb and forefinger? Mine does it right below the volume rocker. At first I thought it was just the flip case that I had installed but noticed it still creaks when the back cover is off. Kind of annoying me. Anyone else?

Uhhm. I don't really understand why one would purposely squeeze-test his phone.. but to each his own I guess. I haven't tried, but from my daily use I can't detect any noises like you've described.

I had the same issue, I loosened the screws on that side of the back of the phone and stuck in a few slivers of paper and then retightened it, and so far it's been better.

One of the things this phone can't boast is premium quality built. Don't squeeze it!

Creaky battery door FIX!

Ok so I did some experimenting these past hours and I've found a terrific solution to the Vibrant/SGS4G creaking issue that many people have encountered!
Heres what you need:
*Papertowel
*Scissors
LOL not much of a list but trust me!
Step 1: Take your battery door off of your phone
Step 2:Cut a rectangular piece of papertowel enough to fit over the battery, sim and sdcard
Step 3: Place the rectangle cut over the back of the phone
Step 4: Now put on the battery door directly over the papertowel peice
IE: You should notice that the battery door now fits tighter and has no space to make contact with the plastic inside, the papertowel acts as a buffer between the plastics - eliminating the creaking noises.
[EDIT] - Don't cut too big of a piece and if its not snapping on as normal i'd suggest not forcing it and reducing the size of your cutout.
Kool ill have to try this if the creaking gets to bad. Thanks bro

Will do when I try, creaking isn't that bad yet but it will most definetly get worse over time but atleast we can fix that now.

Haven't heard any creaking yet. I've owned a Vibrant and now this. Wouldn't the paper towel cause more heat? I dunno. I'm thinking it's like leaving your laptop on top of your bed effect. But then again it is thin. So I dunno. lol.
The battery door definitely fits a bit loose to the back of the device and makes loose contact with the bezel. What I did was just stick two pieces of scotch tape to the back of the cover side by side which seemed to work fairly well.
Not having to do with the battery door, but if your bezel creaks, some units have loose bezels out of the box. You could try to tighten the screws on the bezel on the back of the bezel (with the cover removed). Of course, I am not responsible if you break it.

My bezel definitely creaks . So all I gotta do is tighten the screws behind the battery cover right?

It helped a little on my unit. I don't think it is the bezel itself as it is the battery door contacting the bezel in a manner that causes the creaking. Does it creak if you take off the cover?
This worked great lol

Sorry to hear that. If it creaks with the cover on, then you should try the trick from the OP. My bezel was loose and creaking a little with the cover off. Sucks to be OCD...
Thanks for trying my method guys hahahahaah OCD FTW! Everybody thinks i'm a freak because i get so off kilter with such little things but, glad to see i'm not the only one who had supersonic hearing!
is this the only way to fix it? I am getting pissed of that my SGS is creaking..****ing **** build quality
I don't think its a good idea to do this. The paper prevent heat from dispersing when your phone heats up. If too much heat is generating while you play game or use your phone it might cause the battery to explode.

Ok i thought so also but there is no other solution to stop the darn creaking sound?!
Buy a case. Not being a smart ass. I bought a body glove case and have no creaky door issues. Plus it gives the phone a little more mass, makes it feel less cheap and not as slippery.

already have a tyre case, do u recommend any other case?
Lol, do you guys Chuck Norris grip your phones? I only get that sound when I squeeze pretty hard on my phone.
Also, putting a piece of paper there seems dangerous. My battery gets pretty hot sometimes when I play with it for too long (games, YouTube, etc.). I'm sure that heat would make the paper catch fire. Then again, I'm no fire expert. XD
It might just be the case I have, but I've never heard the phone make any creaking sounds. This is a simple fix though if you have the problem haha.

loose bezel?

anyone else have a loose bezel on the right side of the screen? Mine doesnt seem to be attached to the screen like the left side is.
No my bezel is not loose on either side. Just took my g2x back and exchanged it with this one so much better.

Buzzing sound when taking calls

Hi, I've been lurking the dev section for about six months and have a rooted ds which has sampled many of the great roms available but it has developed an issue, when I make or receive a call the buzzing/vibration makes it difficult to hear the other person. When I look at the grill covering the ear speaker it looks like I can see debris behind it glistening which makes me think metal filings? This would be consistant with me working with metal in my job and accumulating filings/flakes in my pockets. Any ideas how I can get them out guys?
Thanks.

The only thing i can think of without dismantling the phone, is to turn it off, take the battery out, then pass a stronger magnet than the one in the speaker, over the grill. It may take some time but maybe you could coax them out that way. Unless the filings are non ferrous of course. In which case it may need taking apart.

I may have to give that a try, would the magnet not damage the phone? What I don't understand is how they got in there as there are two that can be seen that are about 2-3 mm in size.

I can't guarantee what effect the magnet would have, which is why I would turn phone off and remove battery first. The speaker itself has a magnet in as all speakers do, so in theory there should be nothing in that area of the phone that is susceptible to magetic ill effects.
If there are pieces in there too large to come back through the grill then the magnet is not going to be any good. I'd guess they've found their way in through the headphone socket then.
In which case I'd recommend taking it to a phone shop to be dismantled and cleaned out, else you'll be limited to using a hands-free kit or the speaker phone to taking calls. Plus the last thing you want are metal filings rattling around a circuit board! I know it's closing the gate after the horse has bolted, but if you get it cleaned out, I'd recommend getting this case...

It offers fantastic protection, and features rubber plugs to cover the USB and headphone sockets which will prevent the phone getting full of bits from your pocket again.
Ok, thanks for the advice

Has anyone felt any empty spots on the back of their device?
When I'm holding the device in my left hand my thumb is on the front and fingers on the back. My forefinger hits this spot right above and a little further back than the card slot, and the case indents then if I shift the weight of the device at all it pops back out making a clicking sound. When this happens I feel the edge of the back piece move under my thumb as well.
It is a terribly minor issue but it's also annoying. As I'm reading the back of the device is popping in and out just a tiny bit and clicking.
Has anyone felt anything similar on their device? Should I just get a case and forget about it? I would hate to exchange something for this tiny little issue but it is very distracting (to me).

yes mine does it 2 its a lump of crap. i hate it with a passion that's why im selling it on ebay http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/170811319...LX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1555.l2649#ht_964wt_1344 and now im buying a galaxy nexus haha now that's quality. also it will be getting the new android 5.0 jellybean this year. our tab is good but not for what i what. i can not use it with out a case as it will scratch to bits. its almost like Samsung made it form a melted down coke bottle
hmm ive always heard these tiny click-like noises when i hold my tab without a case. annoyed me like crazy. i was thinking is was somehow the sd card slot cover. i'll check it out...
Well 10 minutes after posting, the Poetic case I ordered from Amazon arrived. Problem solved.
Primarily I wanted to know if the flexibility of the back cover was unusual. It seems to be so that greatly reduces the chances of exchanging it for one that doesn't have this issue.
Thanks for the help.

I personally haven't noticed it, but that's also because I have a folio case for it. No big woop, it works for me I'm happy.
I use my GT-P6210 naked, with nothing but a screen protector, and I haven't noticed anything like this. I've tried some gentle probing to look for soft spots. Nothing. Feels solid.

Noisy Battery Cover?

Hi, I was curious if other owners have a clicky noise when they press on their battery cover? Its really irritating. I took off my battery cover to see what the problem was and found out its either a loose screw or just the design itself. If I touch anywhere in the "RED" location of the picture I will hear a popping/clicking noise. I was thinking I might need to tighten one of the two "GREEN" screws. But I dont have a small enough screwdriver. Just curious if anyone else noticed this? If Im the only one I was going to pick up a Glasses Repair Kit.
Thanks for any response.
I have no noise when I press on that spot...or any other spot.
You are not alone on this. Most people dont see it until the back cover has been removed several times. Mine started doing it after removing it about half a dozen times. The most common and simple suggestion to fix it is to take a post it note type piece of paper, cut it down to size to fit under the cover where the noise is originating at (where you are touching it to produce the sound). If it doesnt work, try it again. My phone is almost completely silent now. Hope this helps.
Thank you very much. I'll give it a try.

My GNex did that directly under the camera cut out on my battery cover. I got the OEM Samsung extended battery and that fixed it.

Give the slip of paper trick a shot. I know its a dirty solution, but it sure beats hearing that creak all the time and being reminded about it (and its also free).
Mine did that too but it was on the top right hand corner if the screen is facing you. I replaced the back cover with the Samsung flip cover and it eliminated the noise for me. It also made the camera recessed into the back cover which I was very happy about. Maybe it will keep it from getting scratched so easily.
