I touched on this in the EOS thread, but I've discovered it's probably not the ROM's fault and some other problem. I was staying in a very old hotel, which I assume had very poor electricity (not sure if relevant, but wife's iphone was charging slowly too, so maybe it could be part of the problem - way too low voltage or something). Plugged the (TF101) in and it charged barely, if at all. If I recall, the wall adapter got hot on the first try (didn't really take much notice as this has happened semi-frequently since I got it - might describe it more as "warm" in the past, where in this case I'd call it "hot") and from then on probably charged to about a max of 25% in 24 hours. So assuming the problem was the hotel, I tried it again at home, where I knew it always worked, and it still doesn't charge. so...
TL : DR - charger isn't charging - thought it was the electrical supply but it's not (though it could have started the downward spiral of breakage)
I tried freezing the adapter, bending pins, hard reset/cold boot, etc as per different threads on the subject. Didn't help.
Tried plugging the USB cord into a PC and it shows up as a connected device - doesn't show charging on the Transformer, but I don't think it's supposed to - so I think that means the cord is okay.
I plugged a Blackberry with its USB cord into the wall charger and it shows "charging" so it would seem that part is okay - but not necessarily definitive proof as it's a completely different device, just my only other USB device I could test.
This all happened right after flashing the newest EOS Jellybean ROM (from #70 to #72 - no full wipe - cache & dalvik wipe only), but I've switched back to Megatron, which worked perfectly in the past, and nothing changed with the charging. So unless it's possible for parts of the EOS ROM to remain (after a full wipe this time), it would seem the problem is with the charging circuit or the battery itself, right? Not sure what steps to take to test that.
I think I will probably try a new charger anyway, as that seems the cheapest of the $$$ options to try first, but are there any tests I can do in the meantime without spending money on replacement parts? At the moment I have it plugged in with the power off to see if that does anything - will update with any positive results

Start by buying a new usb cable, that fixed my issue. Wall socket and usb port only trickle charged my tf101 (about 48 hours for full charge) tried all the freezing, bending pins but nothing worked. I then brought a new usb cable as a last resort (Wall warts are quite expensive so i was apprehensive of buying a new one) and it started charging straight away. seemed strange because the charging issue was just out of the blue (No damaged to the cable)
doubt this needs an update, but my new charger and (longer!) cord came today and it's charging my tablet perfectly. thanks for the info
now to catch up on 2 weeks worth of ROM updates
Dunno if its the right thread but I was also wondering:
My TF101 charges perfektly with the Wallcharger (TF to USB Cable + Adapter). But as soon, as I put
an USB-to-USB-Cable between Adapter and TF-USB-Cable to enlarge the range ... it wont charge anymore.
But: if I connect the same config it to my PC... I'm fully able to Up/Download/ ADB etc... so it can't be the connection
at all.
What's the trick? What am I missing?

Okay so my usb port has been a bit annoying the past week - where i had to vigorously wiggle the cable to get it to charge or to sync (and even when it did decide to connect to the computer, it would chop out eventually)
But now it's no longer charging or being recognized by my comp
It's strange because the headphone adapter was working fine, and so was the usb host, but it just wont charge anymore - I effectively now have a dead TG01
Currently, i'll get the orange light, telling me it's charging, but when i try to power on, nothing happens...
So i'm thinking a new USB port which is where I need some help: I'm not sure on what part to get
But maybe This is the one? Comparing the images with the ones found on the net of the TG01 (Yep - I still haven't got mine open yet)
But yeah, just a heads up on whether you think it would work would be epic, or whether you think i should just try a different battery/charger/throw it away (Although i'm almost certain it's the port, as it was working intermitently before - it's now gone altogether)

Wall charger, but i tried USB, and still no luck
It just wont charge at all, regardless of the orange light when plugged in now that it's off (though i wouldn't get it when the phone did still have charge left and was therefore still switched on...)

I'm still without my beloved TG01, I'm having to use a **** old Samsung G600
I do have some problems of my own with my USB cable. I believe the problems are due to the cable, though. The wall charger works fine. The USB cable that I use, has to stay somehow "forced"... imagine having the cell laying face up on a desk. The USB cable gets out and is forced by a small pen that stays right near the cellphone, to have a 30% slope upwards, so pushing a bit the cable onto the upper part of the USB port. I do know that you are telling us a different issue, however, maybe this way you could check whether it's just a broken connection and not a completely dead port.
No, this sounds like the exact issue i had...
It was like this with the Charger and USB - where i had to force it to be recognised or charged, and it would still cut out after a while - and wiggling it or knocking it wouldn't actually affect it, it would be of it's own accordance...
But it was strange because the headphone adapter worked fine...

It vaguely remembers me of something I read on the forum about different micro usb (explaining my different cables do not connect just the same, some easy, some bit forced); I think there also was a drawing. (but I don't have time to search for the exact thread; it was not the "solving usb port mistery one))
Maybe your earphone adaptator don't have exactly the same as your charger? And if it is not battery trouble, find a charger with the "very right" micro usb plug?

I understand why you say it could be the battery problem with the charger - but it doesn't explain the intermittent connection with my computer when using the USB cable. Which is convincing myslef more and more that it's a port problem
One solution for now would be to buy one of these cheap external battery chargers from eBay, but it would mean i still wouldn't be able to use sync using the USB cable and i'm a bit conscious on whether the charger is safe and wont fry my battery
Which is why i'm leaning towards having a stab at reparing it myself
It'd solve the issue directly and it'd be a safer and more secure solution too... (the external charger would have to be ordered in from Hong Kong eBay)
I'm having what seem to be exactly the same problems. I have used 2 x usb based chargers on it - and neither work (whereas they had been working for the past 6 months). Got a mains charger last week - was working for a while - but as of right now, no longer works.
I'm not sure what else to do. I will try later to use the other adapter I have for connection to usb keyboard. The strange thing is - this will probably work but charging won't!
So....is it the micro usb port that's broken? (strange if it is but still works for data)

So, I'm traveling (for a long period of time) with my TF. One day, it stopped charging.
I took apart the power brick and put it back together, I even tried to freeze it (on advice from some older "not charging" threads), nothing helps.
When I connect the TF to my laptop via USB - it recognizes the TF. When I connect my iPod to the power brick (with its own cable obviously) - it charges just fine. So what broke?!
I hate this, the local stores here don't sell the power brick separately and I don't even know if that's the source of the problem.

Sounds like the power pin in the TF port has bent/broken or just has some detritus/dirt/foreign matter in it and is stopping it from charging properly. Have a look, but you might need to check the port with lots of light and a magnifying glass, so not easy while you're on the move.

strange thing is that sometime my transformer doesn't charge.
i have to reboot and it start to charge again.
Same happened here. Asus tech wanted me to wipe the device. After trying other options to get it to charge, I did but it didn't wipe... Go figure... But it booted up normally and now it has been charging.

Apparently charging has some history of issues on the TF101.
I just had mine act up on me, went around the house trying different wall sockets and checked that it worked fine via USB to PC. Ended up taking a can of dust-off to all the pins, then shoving the plug hard into the TF101 socket. Now it works.
Should have mentioned I have a dock as well, which doesn't charge either (so problem is probably with cable/brick)
I'm trying to get new ones (nowhere to be found here, but I'm trying to get one sent to me). I tried looking for dust/dirt and different wall sockets, no luck.
Weird thing - I left it plugged in to the wall overnight and it grew from 5% to 15%, so looks like some electricity is trickling.
I had the same problem with mine after I had it for 5 weeks, I just RMA'd it and everything is fine.
Im having the same exact problem. I left it charging over night by mistake the night before yesterday. I only let it charge 3 hours the most because I know the Transformers have known issues.
I tried to charge it this morning and nothing. I plug it into my PC. The PC recognized the Transformer but no charging. Turned it on and off, nothing.
Just put the power brick in the freezer, waiting to dry up to see if it works .
Although the tf charger and cable has a usb connector it is not usb compliant. the charger brick looks for a gnd signal on pin 7 of the usb connector ( normally a usb 3.0 data line) to determine it should supply 15V to the positive charge pin vs standard 5V. The slow charge you are seeing is from the 5V supply . check to see if pin7 is seeing the gnd signal. Are you using a usb 2.0 extension cable as it doesn't have have pin 7 conductor. be careful connecting your ipod as it could accidentaly see 15V vs the 5V it is designed for.

My VZW i535 just started giving me issues. I should preface this by saying that it is rooted and I do have a CM11 nightly flashed (will try to get specific version when I can, which may be awhile). I've had this installed for probably over a month now without problems. I also understand that charging issues are very common but nothing I could find is the same as my issue.
I noticed my phone was overheating (as it has frequently since purchased) with about 30% battery today, so I plugged it in after doing a reboot and all seemed well. About 15 minutes later I hear it beeping, giving the signal the battery is below 15%. It was actually at 5%, and the bottom of the device was extremely hot, as well as the end of the Samsung cable included with it, so I unplugged it and found that the metal part of the cable was mostly black and there was a strong electrical burning smell.
I tried two other USB cables, both in the Samsung AC adapter, and in the USB ports of several devices. With any cable in the adapter, it would say "charging" but would not actually charge, but with the computer USB ports it wouldn't say or do anything at all.
The battery is at 2% now and the device is powered off so that I can quickly do something if need be, but I can't do much. I ordered some replacement batteries with a charger, due for arrival by Friday 1/3, since I assume that the damage to the USB interface is permanent.
Is it likely that this was caused by the software? Or is the charger faulty? Any advice, in general? The warranty has expired, but I do have insurance on it if for some reason it would be better to just get a new device. I can't restore it to stock until I get replacement batteries; is that what you recommend?

Sounds like a hardware i ssue. Look inside ur usb port on the device to make sure it did not get burn. Wen ur battery comes in put it on and try to charge it with new cable. If it doesn't charge then it will ur USB port. I know some 4.4 roms give wonky bat stats but it shouldn't burn out ur cable or usb port at least i think it shouldn't. If u believe is a software issues flash a different version of the rom a previous build or a whole different rom. But with 2% battery i don't think u would be able to. Good luck
After playing around with it a bit, the USB interface on my phone definitely appears to have taken damage from the heat. It only charges when powered off, must be completely still, and charges relatively slowly.
What I would recommend for people with a similar problem is to do as I have done and purchase extra batteries with an external battery charger like the set I got for around $17 on Amazon.
My only guess for what caused this is that something faulted in the cable or AC adapter and caused a severe overheat issue. If anyone has anything else to say about that, please let me know so I have a better idea of what happened. I will mark as resolved soon.
So I bought a cheap cable from eBay that converts microusb to the proprietary Galaxy connector on this device. Tried to charge the device but it entered a bootloop. Unplugged the cable and tried charging with the stock cable and left it overnight. Woke up and the device was completely dead.
Wouldn't boot at all.
Tore it open, unplugged the battery and plugged it back in. It booted! BUT the battery was critical and it shut off immediately. Tried charging again, no dice.
So I unplugged the battery and applied 4v to get some charge into it. Got the battery up to about 3.6V, booted again and it showed 3%. So in the time I had with the device turned on I tried both cables again but neither would charge the device. I used a multimeter to test the stock cable and it was all good, I even did a beep test between the 4 USB pins in the stock cable and the places they're wired up to inside the note and everything was fine so it's most likely not the cable.
Anyway the 3% is long gone now and I can't boot or charge. The device and battery are fine and definitely working, it just won't charge through USB no matter what. I've tried different power points, different adapters including stock and normal usb ports.
I've also cleaned both the plug and the jack with a toothbrush.
Could it be that the internal charging circuitry got fried when I tried the dodgy cable? If so, is there any way to fix/bypass this?
I'm at a complete loss so any help would be greatly appreciated.

I would not recommend to charge battery directly outside the device or even remove the battery at all.
First you gotta make sure your cables are capable of charge other galaxy devices if a friend has Tab 7 or Tab 10.1 or other note 10.1 or another try your cables to see if they really work.
Because it may just be your cable, remember batteries have their own circuits boards of sort and batteries are sometimes picky on how they are charge especially OEM batteries that are not suppose to ever be out of the device unless are change for a new one in a repair.
So first of all cable check it a must, again is not as simple as check if all the pins works as this is not a simple USB (Universal Serial Bus) port is a proprietary port and cable, check the port in the tablet too.
As well it may be just a defective battery or worst case even a board problem.
Unfortunately I have no other device to test it with. I might just buy another cable and see how I go.
I know about the circuits on the battery, but I always thought they were just there as a safety measure due to the potentially volatile nature of Li-Ion when it drops below a certain voltage. I'll probably take your advice and stay away from charging it externally, I only did it once to see if the tab died or it was just a dead battery. The voltage never dropped low enough to trigger the circuit to 'kill' it, evidenced by the fact that I could get it back up to 3% just applying a constant voltage.
I'm guessing you've hit it on the head with the last sentence, might be a board problem which would be quite sad. Silly reason for a great device to die.

Ok, So to update:
I've bought and tested 3 separate cables, all provide 4.99V inside the device, but none of this makes it to the battery so I'm fairly certain it's the charging IC that's dead.
I bought a new battery that was charged to 40% so I was able to flash the device to see if it was maybe the custom kernel messing something up. Flashed to stock via Odin, still not charging.
From what I've read, I need a cell balancing circuit (since the battery is 2-cell Li-Ion) and a charging IC. I've found a suitable IC for fairly cheap, but I'm not sure if the balancing circuit is necessary. The battery already has one of these inside, but I'm not sure if this is just for Voltage/Current protection or if it also balances.

I just picked up a used TF300T on Craigslist yesterday. It was completely stock, running 4.2.1. When the lady handed it to me to check out, both the dock and tablet were fully charged and everything was functioning normally. It wasn't til later that I tried to charge the tablet/dock that I noticed the dock wasn't taking a charge, but the tablet was charging. Eventually, the dock battery went down to 0% and that's when things got worse. Now, neither the dock nor the tablet will charge. Even when the tablet itself has the cable plugged directly into it, it still won't charge. No matter which port I plug the cable into, my PC recognizes it and mounts internal storage; but the stupid thing won't charge.
I've since unlocked the bootloader, installed the latest TWRP, wiped data/factory reset, rooted, etc. Nothing has made any difference. The fact that everything was fully charged up seems to support the original owner's claims that she never had any issues with it. I just don't understand how it could be fine one minute and suddenly have issues once I take possession of it. I'm pretty anal about caring for my gadgets, so it didn't suffer any bumps or any kind of mishandling in the 24 hours that I've owned it. I'm at a loss. Any ideas?

The USB cables have been known to go bad, and regularly at that. The wall wart's quality is stable, but you can never tell. Now if you plug the cable to the dock and it blinks orange, leave it for a few hours. If on inspection, it persistently shows 0%, that means 2 things: either the charging port soldered onto the mainboard is kaputt (unlikely if the charger charges the tab through the dock); or the I/O controller chip (Nuvoton781) has gone AWOL (this is situated on the back of the dock's main board). The inner circuit that burned the charging part still allows for other functions such as USB and SD card and keyboard, and give you the false impression that ube alles, just for the fun of it. But don't be fooled. It has died.
If you plug the cable directly into the tab and the (a) the led shines solid orange, it means the charging circuit is good; or (b) blinks orange, it means it's charging but the battery voltage has gone too low for the tab to be useable. Normally such situation requires at least a few hours of charge. If it don't do nothing, again either the charging port (cable) has gone bad, or the cable and/or brick are. One time I plugged the cable in upside down, and accidentally forced it a bit, which resulted in my bending 2 pins inside. Had to replace port. So use a loupe and look inside all the connectors to make sure nothing has been twisted out of place. It might be tedious work, but since you're anal, you might enjoy it (lol).

Your tf300t will not charge from your computer. You need to get the USB adaptor to charge it. The Blinking orange light usually means you have an empty battery.

While not entirely true, my issues are actually along those lines. The TF300T actually will charge from a PC's USB port. It just charges painfully slowly. From what I've been reading, unless it's connected to the correct power adapter, it'll trickle charge, but the system doesn't know it's being charged and the LED won't acknowledge the trickle charging.
Well, after more panic-stricken reading, I figured out the problem, and it was comically simple. Apparently, neither of us had noticed that the lady accidentally gave me the wall wart (adapter) that came with her Samsung 7" tablet. It was when I was inspecting all the various connection points that I noticed the adapter said Samsung on it.
Apparently, it's as simple and stupid as the 5V output from the Samsung adapter being too weak to properly charge either the tablet or the dock. Oddly enough, it'll trickle-charge the tablet, but doesn't seem to do anything for the dock. Until proven otherwise, I'm gonna be optimistic and assume that, once I have possession of the proper wall wart, it'll charge normally. Can't wait to find out.
