If not is there a way to some how enable it to work with some kind of hack? They look like they might be kind of cool (maybe a little unnecessary, but cool)

Cool Dual View

I would love if there was some way that we could do the similar things that the Samsung Galaxy Note 10.1 can do with dual applications.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qbgBxr4H59A&feature=player_embedded
Any comments
I saw that and that looks sweet.
I am assuming that is built in and Samsung specific?
It is built in and Samsung specific. However, once we get some AOSP roms like CM10, we could get a similar effect if someone would compile a build with Cornerstone in it.
http://www.onskreen.com/cornerstone/
First time I saw this.
Blows my mind!
We need this.
Cornerstone looks awsome too, but not close to what samsung is doing
To be honest, there are already third party apps out there for "windowed" apps for the most common tasks (browser, calculator, notes app, terminal emulator, movie viewer, IM client, etc), so I don't see this being so a huge deal... The windowed apps I speak of are actually very good too. You can have 3 or 4 apps on the screen at once if you'd like!

Im sure that some functionality like this will be quickly copied. Might be a paid app, might be bundled, but I'm sure it will be copied.
Cornerstone, overskreen, super video. Plus, we'll probably get some porting action.

I think more things like these will be coming, but sure it would feel nice to have it integrated. Somehow I don't think it's going to be common anytime soon.
That dual window is pretty cool. I kinda like that ir remote. They should make a ir blaster that plugs into the proprietary outlet. Would be a cool feature to control all our TV/stereo/cable.

(REQUEST) Multi-Folder MOD for Note 10.1 TouchWiz

I was wondering if anyone has this same annoyance. I run a fairly clean, stock and rooted tablet, and I like to group my icons on my homescreen. However I absolutely hate the bland file folder icon used for grouping multiple items. Is anyone aware of a MOD for this? Similar to the JB ROMs out there? I'm DYING to see this fixed.

I'm not sure, but I want to change it. I'm not a Dev by any means though. I'd love to know if someone already has a MOD out.

If your talking about say combining apps into a folder and dont like the icon use a diff launcher and change the icon. Like apex it nova ..
Sent from my GT-N7000 using Tapatalk 2
Try circle launcher lite rooted or not.
Folder Organizer is a good app. I use it on mine. You have the option of either using a shortcut or a widget to link to each folder/category. Plenty of choices for folder icons too. It's better than using a mod in my opinion.

Previous SNote?

Hi guys!
I got my Note yesterday and after I've upgrade it to the new Android version I've got the new SNote as well and I'm not a fan! My palm is accidentally zooming when I rest it against the screen in a way the previous one didn't and the buttons at the top bar was much more intuitive to me.
Any other with the same problem and maybe a solution? I am open to new better apps as well, I've tried LectureNotes but as an engineering student I'm really in to the SNote shape/function/search the web functionality and I have not seen any app that's anywhere near SNote considering that.
Thanks in advice!

You can disable hand writing so only the s pen is activated, the button can be located at the lower right side of the screen just right of the add page button. The symbol is a hand. Hope this help

Thanks! That was the first thing I did, but the zoom is still active at least when the pen isn't near (14mm/~1 inch or what it might be) and in reality I don't have the pen that close to the screen at all times. The strange thing is that I didn't have these problems with the previous model, maybe they changed it in some way when they added the "pinch to delete page" functionality? And besides I liked the little arrow that completely minimized the toolbar and gave me a blank screen to write on which have now mysteriously disappeared.
I think there is an apk file with the previous version somewhere but even though I've been Google it for the last hour I can't find one! Anyone who has it on their tablet?

Hats the new Snote app. I liked the fact that the menus would hide to increase size of the page for writing, and switching from pen to eraser was jn one place on the right. All gone.

hi, i gt the same problem, eng student too, apparently alot of users have same problem, its been around before we got the update in uk, since aug 2012 as far as i know, i tried many apps, paperus might be a gd one for us but it aint as good as s note, i emailed samsung and i think if alot of users does so something might happen to improve it, or if any devs could jus take the zooming option out,
would you mind emailing samsung so that they could get a massive user feed back.

Exactly, to me the ideal is to have a blank piece of paper and be able to put the tools needed (maybe different pens and the function/shape thing) as floating boxes just like you do at CAD programs etc. SNote got just that, and to be honest SNote was a huge part of why I bought this tablet in the first place. Now it's kinda useless though...

I'm glad to hear that I'm not the only one having troubles or disliking the new SNote, the more that have problems the faster a solution will appear I hope. I have actually only tested LN besides SNote, mostly because LN is great in any way but SNote it isn't. It doesn't have the mathematical function recognizer nor the shape recognizer and just doesn't seems to work as well with the rest of the system. Like the "screenshot, drag and drop" that works like a charm in SNote where I can look something up at Wolfram and paste it to my notes. It does have some advantages over SNote though, I feel the pure writing is better on LN and it have for example the really simple but so useful feature of "select part/text and move it", more easy to customize background etc.
Not at all! I thought of the same thing myself, I just wanted to check if I was the only one having this problems. But the easiest and by far fastest way to deal with it would of course be if anyone had an Old SNote apk file to install. Adding a "lock zoom and pan" option won't solve the problem with the whole new version suck, and I think getting them to get back to previous versions will be difficult.

That's actually not a bug I think, you can adjust the screen brightness in many apps individually. I'm not quite sure where in the new SNote though..

I got a reply from Samsung Sweden today where they apologized and told me that I, for a cost, could get the previous SNote version if I got the tablet to a service center. On one hand I think it's great that they actually give the customers the option of having the previous version back but on the other I think it's rubbish having to pay for it when it it because the new one is working like ****. There might be a chance that the downgrade will just be a couple of bucks but I'm afraid it won't.
I'm going to reply to Samsung once again, this time with a movie I've made that illustrates the problem with the shape and math identifier. To be continued..

This is obviously a solution however to me this isn't an option since I think everything from the general flow to the multiscreen capabilities is that much better than on ICS and even though SNote is a big part of this tablet LectureNotes is not far behind. But don't get me wrong, I wanna have both of them working!
I made a simple video that illustrates the problem with the shape and math identifier, even though that's just a small bit of the problem with the new SNote feel free to use it for example in contact with Samsung!

Thanks for your answer!
No it's not, I've got 4.1.1 and have the version 5r16958FV03 so it's not even close. However, I don't think everyone's got these strange problems and I don't have them all the time either. But it's way too often to be acceptable, especially since the precious one didn't have any problems what so ever (as far as I could tell).
Have you noticed any other bugs or are your version of SNote a stable functional one?
Another thing I noticed now when I looked up the version of SNote is that I have not one but two "programs" named SNote, the main one of 8.8MB and another one of about a quarter of a MB. Is it possible that the smaller one is the upgrade? I couldn't disable it in any way unfortunately, and when I forced it to stop nothing happened in SNote but that might be because it started up again.

N8013 4.1.2 Update Missing Features?

Got a question.
I got the update for 4.1.2 on my 8013. Everything is sweet. But i thought we was suppose to get the ink effect feature like i have on my note II and also where can i change my toggle buttons? i know where all this is on my note II but have they left it off this one?
Thx Wicklet
Anyone know or was i missinformed? Bump
Looked it up its pretty cool but ultimatly not the end of the world if its missing
Sent from my GT-N8000 using xda app-developers app
There are many features that note 2 has which for some reason Samsung has decided not to include in note 10.1 so nothing we can do
I have found an alternative on the forums that are flashable and do give you the ink effec, might want to give it a look see if it's something you are interested in.
Sent from my GT-N8000 using xda app-developers app
Is there any practical use for this feature?
For the ink effect not really other than being kinda neat. Something to show off what ur tablet can do that others cant. But i do like the option of being able to turn off and move my toggles around. Thats a handy feature. I just had read in a couple of places that these was in this update as well. So was just asking to see if i had missed them. Thx for the replies.

Floating Notes ( > 1)

Any idea if there is a program that allows you to "float' more than 1 (handwriting capable) note on top of other programs?
S Note can only float a maximum of one note on screen at a time, and it's impossible to recall saved notes in floating form.
The only one I could find was this: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1803284
Any ideas?

I'd suggest using (or trying) Snap Pad (free or ad-free).
It's not a floating note but rather a pad that comes out when you drag the snap region (that normally stays invisible).
So it can be opened and resized anytime (without having to launch it) and also while using other apps. It's also possible to adjust the pad's opacity and make it semi-transparent.
Pros
It's designed for the S-Pen (so supports pressure sensitivity and changing from pen to eraser with the button)
It's very simple
Cons
No Undo-Redo function
You have a single page to use

What do you mean?
I have downloaded it (I even have just decided to buy the ad-free version in GooglePlay) and it's fully working. I have a Gnote 10.1 (GT-N8000) - stock Rom.
Maybe there's some sort of conflict between the app installed and downloaded from SamsungApps and the new one offered by GooglePlay. In my case (to be sure) I uninstalled the previously app downloaded from SamsungApps before re-installing the one sold by GooglePlay.
One difference I see is that GooglePlay offers both versions (the "ad-free" and the paid one) whilst SamsungApps, at the moment, offers just the free version.
Re: Floating Notes ( > 1)
This is the adfree version and the free version says the same thing too. I'm running BaDaB!ing's rom with the N8013, 4.1.2 version.
Edit: I got it from the Samsung Apps store, and I have to say, this app is what I have been looking for lately. Thanks.

I downooaded the free version from google play this afternoon. I liked it a lot and got immediately the paid version. Both work like a charm on my 10.1.

I think the same
Its best side is its simplicity of use and its very "basic" functionality.
Anyway we could maybe ask the developer for something more (not much, just a little bit): something like undo/redo buttons, multiple pages, and (maybe) the possibility to manage more than one single note...

Yes... there's some lag for me too. Moreover if you use your finger to pull it out and it's not precisely placed on the pad's border it may happen than while pulling the pad out you leave some unwanted ink in the note
For me, it's one of the most important apps as I'm an avid notetaker (college). The best part is if a professor mentions something, I can just use the pad and write it down. The only thing I'm concerned about is how will it affect the battery life. Keeping the settings on "low" for 2 of the options (can't recall at the top of my head) makes it flow a little better.
The closest Floating note app, that I could find is cPaint (Cover Paint) (Floating Paint)
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=coverpaint.ragingtools.com&hl=en
Pros:
4 notes
Transparency
Line thickness
Resize
Minimize
Color Selection
Cons:
No eraser (negates the usefulness of transparency feature)
No S-Pen pressure support
