On ICS i would always force GPU rendering on because it would make scrolling a lot smoother on some apps..
Does this still make a difference in jelly bean? or does the tripple buffering and vsync mean it has no improvment.
Also what about disable HW overlays does that improve performance??

I know ICS 4.0.x supports HW acceleration of the UI.
But I wonder this means the stock web-browser of ICS 4.0.x supports HW acceleration for web page rendering and compositing.

Not exactly solved but it works. This is tested in the latest albinomans and DKs builds.
For touch to focus while recording download "LG camera" app. Touch to focus works but it depends what resolution your ROM supports, 1080p recording works in the latest albinomans release. 20.000mbs is supported. Do not change video or audio codecs the defaults work flawlessly.
For flawless hardware video playback download "BS player" no additional setup is needed. You tube videos are not affected and they will display minor artifacts. Much better than MX player which renders videos with SW rendering.
I know it's not a revelation but I hope this will help somebody.

i have a Rom where there is this tab in settings named "build.prop mods"
and one of the mods is GPU acceleration where it says "enable hardware acceleration where the GPU controls the UI instead of the CPU" can someone explain this to me? what its does exactly? and if it's bad for your GPU or phone or if it's better.

I have CS918S TV Box with Allwinner A31S CPU, tv box connected to TV with HDMI 1.4 cable, when I watching video with any player (lot of tried) I see somthimes vsyn problems (like in games on PC vsync off) video tearing, I tried Project Butter install, Project Butter enabling vsync and tripple bufffering without chance change any setting, when I using Project Butter vsync its ok but video sometimes freezing for 0.5s or 1 second, I think its triple buffering problem, how I can fix Jelly Bean (4.2.2) video tearing problem
CS918S 1080p @60hz-->TV 1080p @60hz, maybe better is be using 1080p @50Hz or 1080p @24hz ? ROM for C918S is newest
