Looking for the 'Thanks' button - General Questions and Answers

All the post I have seen have some some variation of "If you like my work, please click on the 'Thanks' button.
However, in the location I frequent most I am unable to find a 'Thanks' button; certainly not in the spot identified as 'right next to the quote'.
I would like to thank the poster, just didn't was the post to say thanks in a technical forum.
Thanks, Richard
Sorry if this a dumb question.

You've already gave out 4 thanks.
I'm a product of the system I was born to destroy!

Posting to get the "Thanks" button to show up below a post.

Just want to be able to thank people for taking the time to share useful information. XDA is a great community filled intelligent people; they need to be thanked...and donated to whenever possible. Apparently, a user needs one post to see the "Thanks" button, and I hope this post works.

Bite me. One of the virtues of this forum is supposed to be that they actively encourage people to search before posting.
But please, encourage laziness and stupidity, it's awesome. Everyone loves reading 1100 page threads where 900 of those pages are questions that were already answered.

And that is partly what the report button is for ............thread moving........the user is notified that it is the wrong section by PM and most likely they will learn from the mistake.
People would learn a lot faster by that instead of smart comments by wanna be moderators, not speaking of you in general, you are very helpful.

I would think that commenting to the OP, and reporting it would be the most effective. Otherwise the OP might not realize why it was moved (do they get notified if their thread is moved and why? I actually don't know).
Not that it has to be a "smart comment", but just to tell the person why its wrong. Like seeing someone drive the wrong way down a one-way street: Its just better for them and everyone around them, if you tell them what they are doing is wrong. It doesn't make you a wannabe cop.

When a moderator moves a thread the op does get an automated email and recently there was a change so that we can ad a comment to the pm sent as well like
"Your thread was moved to Q&A please post in the appropriate section in the future"
By the way thread moved to Q&A

I need 10 messages to post ?

okey, here the thing. I found this website through oblytile as in the link below
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1899865
Currently i am using the program and I would like to give my appreciation to OP however I need 10 messages to post the thread. I glanced at some topics and there were lots of phone topics going do. As far as I am not highly interested in phones. I posted my message here. Is there any specific place for new registered users can post anything off-topic. I do not want to spam messages. Thanks for your interest have a nice day all.

There's a "thanks" button at the bottom of his post, that's what we use around here to show appreciation.
That way we don't litter development threads with "thanks" posts...
i have some feedback on a rom but i don't have 10 posts
For info and advice about the 10 post rule, have a look at the link in my signature. As orangekid said above, if you just want to say thanks then you shouldn't be posting that - just click the thanks button instead.
Welcome to the forum - I'm sure you can find plenty more things you'll want to thank
Thread closed to stop further "I want 10 posts too" posts.

[Q] why?

hello, I can not write my comments on roms I've tried if I have already posted 10 times mandatory? Another thing to impose the English when there are people who does not have the slightest idea (like me) I think is unfair, it is clear that it should be a general language but not the only one. For people like me have to use the translator google up to write and many times that limits the expression.
I close the issue because now I see that I had 15 yesterday now it counts as 2 post, I hope this does not happen again because it ...

The moderators probably considered your posts spam or you were posting were you should not have been posting. If you read the rules word for word (not skimming), you should know why your post count dropped. If you post in Off Topic, that would be why your post dropped. They deleted them for specific reasons. If English is a difficult language, use Google (http://translate.google.com/) to translate XDA for you.

I understand what you say but I doubt that messages like: thank you very much! served me perfect. Comments are unfit. Besides using google translator (which is terrible and almost all instructions finish reading them in English because in my language says what feels like) is a hassle grandisima have a single tab with the translator and having to spend everything I write to the. 26/08 15 post 27/08 0 post all are bad??
Actually they almost frown upon "thank you" posts. That isn't a very well thought out post. There's a button for that.

It's the rule they made to prevent pointless discussions and question. You've to earn your right like everyone else here.
And a tip from a senior; use the search button!

I understand the desire to reduce comment spam, but what about those of us who only comment when we have something original to say? Do i really have to post 10 waste-of-time-and-space messages before I can join the thread where I have something to add?
Does this post count towards the 10? How creative do I need to be for the next 9?

Bud, it isn't 'trolling' to point out that you are supposed to try to find the answers and solve your issues yourself before posting.
This is a long-standing principle on XDA - which unfortunately for some reason seems to be getting lost on new members - and for a 'senior member' like yourself, you should know better.
You could have easily answered your own question - but instead you posted, unnecessarily cluttering the thread. And, on top of that, you are hardly in a position to accuse anyone of being condescending or trolling based on your last reply.

*Sigh* This is what XDA has become, apparently - a place for people to post basic questions like this instead of just figuring things out themselves, or Googling the answer...

Affirmative, XDA has become a place where everybody, even noobs, get support by others - that's the spirit of XDA besides that XDA still remains a platform by developers for developers. Are you a developer? I see you're a long time member, something that is highly appreciated, and I hope you continue to stay for many years.
Certainly, we require our members to first search prior to posting but even I get so many pop-ups after a search that are confusing that I just tolorate any serious post and question. Doesn't now more than 11 million registered members prove that this is the right way?
I hope we, you and all can find a compromise and agree: If you don't like a post, simply ignore it unless the post violates the rules but in such a case only report the post without any reply and comment and let us do our "job". Consider to add the author of the post to your ignore list. Accept that it's the threadowner's privilege to assess if a post is cluttering his thread or has to be removed as off-topic.
Thanks for listening to me and your cooperation!

Understood, agreed, and will do, Oswald! Clearly I let my frustration with that kind of post get the better of me. My apologies to OtisFeelgood, and I will follow your direction going forward. Thank you, and best regards.
Hello everybody, I just bought my Galaxy Watch 4 but I am very jealous of Toy Story Apple's watchfaces so I created mine downloading these videos and converting them into gifs.
I use them together so they change every time you tap or unlock the screen.
Hope you like them.
You can find the original video and others two here: https://www.youtube.com/user/toystorysvideos/videos
