Shake Awake App? - Asus Transformer TF700

Is there some app that will perform the above-mentioned function well? I let my tab's display turn off, but when I want to return to it, I still use the power button.
Any of these types of apps work without major battery drain?

I hope one day there would be an app for TF700 like this one
http://forum.ponury.net/viewtopic.php?f=14&t=562

I tried Awesome On and Off on my Galaxy S phone and found it drained my battery pretty dramatically. I installed the same app on my 700t, and it worked reasonably well, then quit. Re-upped it and then even that started draining the ASUS. Is this just a side effect of these types of apps?
It's a good concept but I can't take the drain.

Can't adjust brightness....

Got my Infinity yesterday - loving it so far. I was worried after all the negativity on the forums over the last few weeks, but I couldn't be happier.
My one issue is with the brightness of the screen. I know some people have taken issue with the auto-dimming feature. I have the complete opposite problem - I can't adjust the brightness of my screen! Moving from balanced to power saving to performance makes no difference. Turning on Super IPS? No difference.
Am I doing something bone-headed? Anyone else have this problem?

Just tried a factory reset - made no difference whatsoever. No matter what setting I choose for screen brightness, it never changes....
Any ideas? Should I just return it?

It appears that there is a issue, if you reset the tablet and its the same you should exchange it. Try the small reset hole also.

Would I use the reset hole when the tablet is on or off?
Many thanks

Don't know if that makes a difference as I am running the updated firmware with no issue.

It's very strange - the screen itself is beautiful and responsive to touch. It's just it appears the brightness cannot be altered!

No. I can move the slider up and down the scale, but it doesn't have any effect on the brightness. Very strange.

Send it back and get a replacement, not worth the aggravation.

hope this video illustrates the problem
I took this short video to try and better illustrate the problem:

Anyone got any ideas? I can return it to Amazon fairly painlessly, but it's a shame as otherwise it's a great bit of kit.
Grateful for any additional thoughts people might have.

Your issue more than likely will not be solved on the forums anytime soon. Amazon is very good at exchanging defective items usually shipping it the next day. Your stressing over this to much, and you don't have to. It cost you nothing to exchange the tablet.

Same thing
Just wanted to let you know I'm having the same problem. I've tried a factory restore as well still no brightness control. Thing that sucks is I returned my prime for a screen defect, now I get a faulty infinity. I'm beginning to question asus quality at this point and starting to think about perhaps getting a Google nexus 7 even with its limitations.

Isnt Asus building the GN7 also?
Either way, defects will happen. Send it to back and Amazon will make it right -- it's worth the two days. I've had none of the problems that people are describing with their Infinitys
Good point cinco5 ugh. I forgot they manufactured it. They are at 2strikes, I guess I'll give them 3.

Anyone found a way to display notification area battery remaining as a %?

Would love to be able to do this without a 3rd party app (such as GSam). Any tips would be most appreciated.
Cheers,
Mike.

I know you don't want a third party app but every time I recommend "Battery Widget? Reborn! Beta" people love it.

Download the Cooltool app. It displays remaining Battery percentage amongst more important stats.

Yeah, I've been pretty happy with the features of those ROMs on the phone . However, I understand that the builds aren't quite 'there' yet for the tf700. Using CleanROM atm, which is running like a champ, but could do with a few customisations.

Cheers, Seems pretty similar to GSam Battery monitor which I am using. Would like to minimise 3rd party apps if at all possible though. I don't mind using apps, of course, but if it can be themed into the ROM then would rather not have redundancy.

The developer of the app told me that it's a Jelly Bean issue. I know it worked fine with ICS.

Nevermind.
This one wont shot the percentage in the notification area, but I figured someone might like it.
Dual Battery Widget
It will show the power levels for the Pad's battery and the dock's. If you unplug the dock, it will remember the last power level the dock had and show you that percentage, but will let you know they arent connected anymore.

Why is wifi killing my battery

I'm on stock jelly bean and only getting just under 3 hours of screen on time. This is horrible and besides screen drain I'm getting most of the other drain from wifi. Anyone know whats going on? Any help would be greatly appreciated
Edit. After Google I see it's a known issue

Try killing off Google maps if it's running.
Shut blue tooth and GPS off if not using them.
These couple of things might help.
One thing to know and remember: The percentage mentioned is not how much of your battery it uses, it's how much of the current battery usage belongs to the app/component.
Running any live wallpapers? Auto brightness? Which power-setting mode? Location services?
i am having the exact same issue, balanced mode, 35% brightness, no gps, bluetooth on etc and having only 3 hours on screen? Unfair because this tablet is perfect other then that
I would assume it's normal, it might use more than it's supposed to but wifi and screen will usually be the worst sinners, depending on what use of course.

Thanks bud. It's definitely not normal. After doing research I come to find out its a problem with Asus code. Wifi should never be anywhere close to being reported by the battery use stats. Hopefully we will see a fix sooner or later

If I am not mistaken an update came out either yesterday or today that had the WiFi issues noted in the changelog. Check the ASUS website.

Contrast degradation

I noticed my TF700 is suffering from contrast degradation after prolonged use. I could be using the browser and then the screen seems to kinda whiten up a bit more then usual. It's still readable but noticeable. Wondering if anyone else is noticing this and if it has been noticed does it get worst because mine is happening more often now.

Turned off Auto Brightness?
Turned off Battery Saving? Not the speed toggle, the one in settings that turns on when battery gets low. This has an auto-contrast.
So that settings / power savings / first selection battery saver. Thanks I will post results.

I'm still getting the weird contrast.

It sounds like the effects of the Asus "Smart Backlight Adjuster". Go to "Settings->Asus Customized Settings->Enable Smart Backlight Adjuster" and uncheck that option - I think that will solve your issue... This is completely different (and separate from) the auto-brightness setting.

Thanks I will try it when I get home. Kinda driving me nuts. Instead of the solid black letters I get light grey letters. Harder to read. Just started happening maybe 2 weeks ago.

Hmm, that actually sounds a little more serious that just the setting that I talked about a few posts back... Almost sounds like a hardware issue.
Let us know what you find out - a picture would also help. In fact, if you take a screenshot with the TF700 and post the picture and the picture looks fine, then it would definitely be a hardware problem (the screenshot would capture what is supposed to be displayed - if it's a hardware problem, the screenshot would look normal to everyone else, but would still look bad to you, if that makes any sense)...
Sent from my ASUS Transformer Pad TF700T using Tapatalk 2
I have the same problem, noticed yesterday for the first time. It looks as if contrast is lower and brightness higher than normal.
I am still within my 30 day best buy return period, should I consider returning it? I have unlocked it, would best buy care?

Yeah that's what Im experiencing. I have a square trade warranty but I'm curious to see how they will remedy this. They would have to use it for a bit till it warms up.

Cool - glad that if fixed it for you guys. Personally, I don't know what Asus was thinking with that one! It's utterly horrible! At least they finally provided a setting for it (previously, you had to be rooted and type some commands @ the Android command-prompt to disable it)!

.[Q] Keyboard with no battery

Hi there,
It's about time I root my infinity but before I do I just want to check up on some issues to see if it's warranty or just an annoyance I'll have to live with...
Whenever my keyboard is out of battery while the tablet is not, my tablet seems to turn off while not being actively used. Is the the way it's supposed to work, or at least the way it works for everyone?
Thank you for reading!

Yep, if you mean turns the screen off. You can set the time out under display settings. No, if you mean completely shuts the tab down.
