so I was wondering why I have terrible battery life on my phone not the worse it could be but my phone is being awake while the screen is off way too much. I'm using betterbattery stats app can someone please pinpoint the app that is causing my issue? see attached images also 3rd image is kernel wake locks im using latest synergy build with imoseyons kernel and ive tried trinity kernel and ive had this problem in stock what is causing so much kernel wake locks???as you can see 6 hours of phone time only 6 minutes of screen time and I drop 27% battery is that bad? i know standby time use to be way better with my droid one but what is average wakelock for most peeps?

See how your top 3 partial wakelocks are related to alarms? Particularly the AlarmReciever. Something is regularly telling your phone to wake up at a specific time. You'll need to check/post a screenshot of the Alarms list. It could be any number of things such as apps syncing or Google Now gathering information in the background. Get that other screenshot up and I'll try to help more.

Android OS "keep awake" much greater than screen time on

Just completed my 2nd full charge and discharge of my AT&T One XL and I'm a little disappointed.
Got just about 3 hours of display time along with about 10 hours of time off the charger.
One thing I noticed looking at the battery details is that the Android OS keep awake time was over 5.5 hours.
I'm hoping my battery life will improve dramatically after a few more cycles but am wondering if anyone is seeing this type of behavior with Android OS? Any thoughts on how to troubleshoot?
Download Better Battery Stats and look at the Partial wakelock stats, that will tell you what's keeping it awake when the screen is off
It can be your radio. Also get juice defender or something that turns off wifi. My phone reported it made my battery 2.21 times longer. Androids have poor screen time. Rooting helps too

Doesn't BBS require root? (I know it's been discovered for AT&T but probably won't do it till bootloader can be unlocked.)

[Q] How to improve battery life on CM9?

My current build is attached.
I have auto sync on because i need my email, brightness on VERY low. Bluetooth, GPS are both OFF.
Wifi is on when im at home and im getting 3-5 hours of battery life out of my SR...
PLEASE help. What am I doing wrong? What is the matter here?
I would recommend the InstigatorX or Cymbaline kernel with the badass or SmartassV2 OC/UV governor. Also, check your BLN and haptic settings as they can drain battery also.

3-5hours of battery life doesn't sound normal unless you were using it heavily like playing a graphic extensive game or driving with the screen on with GPS and streaming music.. if you were using it lightly you should see about 10-12 hrs, very light 15~ and barely using it 20+ with regular use maybe an average of 9hrs. Things like wakelocks can also be the culprit, thats when the phone doesn't stay on low CPU clocks or deep sleep but stays at full load speeds when not in use and that will drain the battery pretty quickly.
I too am having this issue. On battery use it list phone as taking %55 and screen at %8. This indicates.a.wake lock issue, correct?
I recommended installing Better Battery Stats and checking your wake locks.
Also if the phone app is killing your battery, it is due to bad signal. Also known as rillj wake lock. Or so I've heard. I've yet to find a solution other than flashing radios that may or may not help signal.

annoying battery life issue

Hi folks,
since some days my battery drives me crazy...
Last week i flashed CM10 by nk111. Nice ROM, but my battery lasted only for some hours with normal usage. So I went back to MIUI...problem stayed.
Yesterday I flashed Jellytime and replaced the battery. The problem stayed as well. At 6 pm battery was full, I restored my apps with Titanium, used it a bit and when I was going to bed at 10 p.m. battery was 81%. Getting up at 5:30 this morning --> battery was 41%.
After the battery was full yesterday night I used display for maybe 10 minutes, why there are 36% battery usage by th display?
WTF happened to my system by flashing CM10 by nk111???
Any help is appreciated!
PS:
Baseband-Version: 20.72.30.0833U_3831.17.00.310
Kernel-Version: 3.0.50-g6ea80e4
First, do you have Google now on. It really drains the battery. If that doesn't help install better battery stats and let it go through a couple of cycles, it will help you pinpoint if any apps or wakelocks are draining your battery.

I don't use Google Now. I use the same apps withe the same intensity than in better battery times...
Could you please give me a recommendation for a battery stats tool?
Thanks!

Use the search, you'll find it in both xda and playstore it's called better battery stats

U have an app or something that is running when screen is off.
Find the app and del it.

app called carat could also help you find the battery sucking thing. It's a bit more simple than battery stats, you'll like it if you're not an expert.
it doesn't need to be a new app that is sucking power, it could be the poorly made update of some app that you're using for a long time.
I installed both apps.
But in both I can't find any kind of statistics about consumed power by apps or something similar, am I that stupid?

Bbs needs to run for at least a full battery cycle to give you a clear picture, if recommend running it for at least a day

I get max 24 hours battery life , sometimes 12 hours , so it's not something to worry. If you speak 2-3 hours and WiFi on another 2-3 hours that is the battery în my case 12 hours max.

IT IS something to worry, cause battery behaviour changed dramatically while I didn't change my usage of the phone.
40% battery loss over night should be a clear indication of abnormal behaviour.
@jugg1es: thanks for the advice!

you must run carot a day or two, than it will display some apps on the first page and the approximate battery life you get if you kill them. read the manual also..
Yesterday in the evening I realized a 96% entry in the Partial Wavelocks section - AndroidMediaScanner. I freezed it (I know where my pictures and music is located...), did a full load on the battery and for 4 hours the battery remained at 100%. I really thought the problem is solved...but in the morning...31%
But - the 'Media' entry in the android accu stats is gone, I think this is a partial success.
In the BBS app, there is no remarkable value - the biggest is 3,8%.
When I watch the graphs - WiFi and Awake is nearly completetly blue over the whole night (unfortunately, I can't take screenshots right now for any reason).
I'm a bit helpless right now, will charge the phone now and keep an eye on BBS the next hours/days.
androidmediascanner shouldn't be the bad guy, it's a system app that we all have. maybe your battery is the problem...

I inserted a new battery last week without any change. Don't think both batteries are broken.
The common way to solve this is to do a fresh install. Leave it for a day without any apps yo see if it is ROM related. See if the battery life improve. Install one app per day and monitor your phone awake period with screen on, it should be almost same.

Yesterday night I made a full wipe, installed Jellytime and Gapps and went to sleep...
In the morning --> 67%.
Very odd, normally this would probably indicating a defect battery, but it is new!
Maybe a hardware defect?
Maybe RRU Problem?
Hi,
I have a similar problem here. I was using the desire s for a long timne with stock rom (2.x android), a full battery was enough for ~2 days. Then I rooted the device and installed CM10 (NK111 alpha build).
2 things changed:
The battery is empty after 24h or less.
The wireless network is worse than before. This is my subjective impression but there are places at home or in the office where wifi worked before and stopped working.
I'm starting excessive tests (disabling everything, removing apps, running carat) during xmas holidays to find the reason.
My guess what it might be: to root the device I did a downgrade, including a radio downgrade. Now I run baseband 20.23.30.0802U_38.02.01.11 which is known as "Saga Test RUU" and has the lowest version number of the RRUs listed in the forum. I did not found anything about this in the forum or with google but maybe this is the reason.
My average battery stats with normal use (whole day, used the phone a few minutes):
~30% Display
~25% Wifi
~17% Mobile Standby
~5% Android Os
For comparison, my Motorola Defy has in a similar scenario ~5% Wifi and ~3% Mobile Standby

The first thing you should do is download BetterBatteryStats so you can figure out what is causing your battery drain.

Have you tried faux123's recommended settings for his kernel? It is on the Faux Kernel Google+ Community. You could also make your own adjustments until you get it how you want it.

ok i have joined it . lets see what happens ,. will post back.. meanwhile can you please tell me about anyother kernel with known working setting
The major kernels are faux franco and bricked. I am on bricked atm but all of them have apps to tweak settings as needed.
If you want battery I suggest bricked or maybe a dialed back franco

Do you have a Pebble by chance? Causes a bluesleep wakelock, other bluetooth devices don't seem to do this. Just a thought since that is the only thing destroying my battery life and I have like 100 apps.
I'm running SlimKat+Faux also and am getting really good battery life. I'm running Faux's recommended settings and as long as I don't use the tap or sweep to wake, the phone sleeps like a baby. I get pretty much crap phone signal everywhere in my area so I don't get massive 5+hour screen on time but it's quite more than enough to take off the charger at 6am and still have around 20% give or take when charging it up at 10pm. Usually getting around 2-3 hours screen on time with about 2-3 hours bluetooth music streaming a day.

[Q] battery dropping significantly?

I've been using the latest ota 44s rooted, but with no modifications. its probably the most stable yet. no issues apart from this. despite the battery being actually quite good, i get 6+ sot within 40+ hours. but i'm getting an issue where according to the battery monitor, it drops a few percentages in one go without me actually using the device. its still on deep sleep. no wakelocks or anything like that.
Could it be that the battery stats is not being monitored properly by the phone? where the phone is going down steadily and then it realises the battery is at a slower percentage than its already displaying?
or is it something else?
This has happened to me several times previously. though no reboots, and battery life is still good.
as you can see here it drops from 86% to 77% whilst the -mAh is at -9mAH
Use a app such as better battery stats and debug your apps. There's most likely a app causing the phone not to properly deep sleep

i used to use bbs, but then found wakelock detector easier to use. if i install v2.000b7, do i just go into the advanced setting and add debug info to logcat?
Re: Phone deep sleep battery drain
I have also come across the sudden battery drain issue this past week. My phone deep sleeps well and I can find no wakelocks. It appears to use excessive battery when idle. I have tried a fresh, blank install of CM11S 44S and that didn't resolve the issue. I have since moved to Cm11 nightlies and that slowed the battery drain but I am losing 12% battery per hr when idle and the phone is staying warm. I do not understand how this happened and why it just spontaneously began. A fresh install with no additional apps, and no problems entering deep sleep. shouldn't be doing this This phone was brilliant for battery life and I cannot work out how to resolve this.

I have checked that and it appears to be sitting at the minimum 300MHz as far as I can tell. Since posting I have tried PA 4.6 for 24 hrs, no additional apps, and now I have moved to Liquid Smooth Lollipop nightly just to see how they compare. Even changing radios doesn't appear to have any impact on the power consumption.
When using GSam battery monitor on both the CM11 and PA (both behaved similarly) my phone was using anywhere from 500mA to 800mA (minimum screen brightness) for no apparent reason. I am unsure what usage this phone should be to be honest but I think that is high.
On Lillipop, the category 'Miscellaneous' is by far the greatest usage category and is seeing 2-3 times expected mAh drain compared to its computed usage, though I am unsure how that is worked out.
The most my phone will last now is 8hrs standby, in deep sleep. I am beginning to wonder if there is something wrong with the hardware of this device now. Perhaps the power regulator... Not sure what test to do next TBH
Thanks for your reply

The next thing I'd do would be a complete wipe and flashing the fastboot images. This still return the device to a completely stock state (including wiping the user data), leave it like that (don't install any apps) and test for a day or two.

Fresh install, data off and left to own devices for a few hours and it is deep sleeping like you would expect, but a neat linear drop in the battery of 10-12% per hour as before...
I saw the same type of behavior while running CM11 based ROM. At night, I would put device into sleep (no data/no wi-fi/no sync/etc.) - basically everything off. In the morning, it would still show 100% - but then quickly drain several percentage each minute for the first 10 or so minutes. It was like it was catching up to the correct %. I have used wakelock and BBS and nothing sticks out. I also set Google Play services to stop wake (which did help battery life a lot).
