[for beginners]type your defualt tweaks you are using, i will build a cab with them

hi all
i saw there are many switching from a rom to another and they waste a long time to set their tweaks like clear type, start menu sound....etc
so, just list your tweaks needed, then you will have a cab file ready with your settings (type whatever you want ), i'm sure you will need this always .

i need a cab
my screen for wmp is flipped backwards on my 8125 can you make a cab to flip it back to default?

I do these things:
Run P_Generic_Conn_Settings.CAB and P_Other_Conn_Settings.CAB in \extended_rom\ to install T-Mobile USA connection settings. These CABs are left in extended rom by install of official T-Mobile 2.26 WM5 prior to installing WM6 build.
Set Button 1 to <Start Menu>
Set Word Completion to suggest after 2 letters, suggest 4 words and not add a space after the word.
Set Ring type to "Vibrate and ring"
Enable Start Menu sounds with .reg file
Change the DeviceID
Set Backlight to brightest setting
Set Battery power to turn off backlight after 1 min and turn on when a button or screen is pressed.
Set External power to tun off backlight after 4 min and turn on when a button or screen is pressed.
Set to Display the clock on the title bar in all programs
Disable Microphone AGC
Set Battery power to turn off device after 2 min.
Set External power to tun off device after 5 min.
Set Regional settings to English (United States)
Set Time style to h:mm:ss tt (instead of hh:mm:ss tt)
Enable ClearType
Set Left Soft Key to "Outlook" to launch "\Windows\tmail.exe"
Configure PIE for "Fit To Screen" and Text Size = "Smaller"
Configure Camera to save to Storage Card, Disable Shutter Sound and don't Apply "Date and time stamp". Set Photo capture size to 1.3M (1280x1024)
Install my Apps:
SlingPlayer Mobile - configure for SlingPlayer
spbDiary - restore backed up settings from SD card
IM+ - configure ICQ/MSN/AIM accounts
Remote Desktop add-on (if not included)
Mocha VNC
Live Search
Remove Init_Tray.lnk from \Windows\Startup and other startup tray icons I don't use like Dr.Yar's, Battery Status, etc.
Configure Today screen and theme/background
Configure Menus to show the Apps I use (Apps installed + Internet Sharing and Total Commander)
Copy Favorites from SD card to \Windows\Favorites
Restore contacts using PIM Backup
Setup Exchange server/DirectPush options and sync
Configure my alarms that I use to wake up each morning including custom Alarm sound.
Setup some ringtone/wav file specific sound/notification options for New E-mail, Incoming calls and new text message.

Set Button 1 to <Start Menu> ( Done via Start/Settings/Buttons. On my MDA, it's the hardware button on the top left of the screen with the envelope picture on it.)
Change the DeviceID - I change it to <my name>Phone, but this is not that important... just listing ALL my steps
As for the Apps, I have the cabs on my SD card and they don't take that long to install. Mocha VNC requires a Windows installer so I have no CAB for it.
I also forgot about MS Voice Command - I install that as well.
T-Mobile cabs are attached

Look in HKLM/Ident/ [Name] and [OrigName]
I have this on my phone so it does everything for me.

Set Home Time Zone to GMT-4 Caracas, La Paz
Add a Net connection called OrangeNet, Modem (Cellular Line GPRS), Access Point (orangenet.com.do).

Set Start in to Day View
Set 1st day of the week to Monday
Set Week View to 5-Day Week
Set to Show half hour slots
Dunno if the list is too long

a cab for IE Cache to SD
I know you have this covered in your rom but I allways have to change the values of the cache and cookies and history to save to SD when I install a new Rom.
also if you have it change the value in the email section to save attachment to SD also would be great

What do you want to build? A personal cab for everybody or some kind of wizard app?

Custom SMS Notificaitons

Anyone got any ideas on setting up custom notifications I have a few short Mp3 (3 seconds long) that which have been transferred to the Micro SD Card, but there not appearing within the Notification List.
So anyone got any ideas on how to set custom notifications

Most of the default notification sound on the Sensation is not good. To make the phone unique, just set own music files as notification sound, to make your device really YOURS.
These are the steps:
1.Connect the phone and computer via a compatible USB cable
2.Choose Disk drive as the connection type
3.On the computer, open the removable disk
4.Create “notification” folder on the phone SD card
5.Copy and paste your favorite mp3 files from compute to “notification” folder
6.Press home screen > Menu > Notifications, select the ongoing Connect to PC status and tap Charge only
When you want to assign a mp3 file as notification sound, press the phone Menu > Settings > Sound > Notification sound. Select your desired one.
Notice:
You cannot use SD card during the process.

Access the scientific calculator
To access the scientific calculator, rotate
the phone to landscape mode.
The calculator will change to a scientific
one.
End a phone call by pressing the Power button
Rather than having to locate the hang up
icon on the screen after each call, you can
quickly end a call by pressing the Power
button. It will not turn off the screen
though.
To enable this, go to Settings - Accessibility
- Power button ends call.
Note: Depending on which firmware you
are running, you may need to update your
firmware to see this feature.
Tether your laptop or computer to your phone
You can tether your computer or laptop to
your phone so that the PC uses the
phone's 3G or 4G connection.
To do this, connect the phone to your PC
via USB cable. If a screen appears saying
Choose a connection type, then select USB
tethering and you should be able to start
surfing straight away. If it doesn't then
press the Home key to go into normal
mode. Then go to Menu - Settings -
Wireless and network - Tethering and
portable hotspots. Then tick USB tethering.
Your computer should then install the
relevant drivers. To test, simply open your
browser and start surfing.
Another alternative if the above doesn't
work is to use an App called PdaNet.
Before you install this App, you will need to
go to Menu - Settings - Applications -
Development. Then tick the option which
says USB Debugging. Then download both
the App and the software for your
computer. Once they are both installed run
PdaNet on your laptop and then on your
phone. Follow any other instructions to
complete the process.
Warning: Some carriers will tell you that
tethering is not allowed in their contract.
You should still be able to use the above
techniques, but be aware that your carrier
may not be happy. Also, if you are not on
an unlimited data plan, be sure you do not
use too much data through your laptop or
computer as you may incur extra charges.
Accents and special characters
If you want to type non-English letters (eg
those with an accent), long-press on the
relevant letter. A list of options will appear
for you to select
Add email or phone number from text
To add an email or phone number to your
contacts from a text message, you can
long-press on the email / phone number.
Then select Add to contacts.
Adding pauses when dialling
To add pauses when dialing numbers, or
storing numbers in your contacts, then
insert a comma ( , ) when entering the
number.
This will pause the dialling for about 2
seconds.
Allow swear words in voice recognition
To allow swear words in voice recognition,
go to Settings - Voice input & output -
Voice recognition settings. Then untick
Block offensive words.
By default, the phone will actually
recognise swear words, but will insert x's
instead of the word.
Change your default font(root required, read line on top)
To change your default font, you need to
download a third-party app because
Android does not have a built-in way of
changing fonts
There are two good Apps that allow you to
change fonts:
Font Changer - There is a free version and a
paid version. The paid version allows you to
change the screen density and allows you
to preview the font. You can also change a
few other options.
Custom ringtones, alarms, sms notifications
To use custom ringtones for your phone
ringtone, your alarm or your text message
notification, simply copy an MP3 file to one
of the following folders:
/sdcard/media/audio/ringtones
/sdcard/media/audio/alarms
/sdcard/media/audio/notifications
If they don't already exist, then create a
new folder.
The file will then show up when you want

For Ringtones go to Settings - Sound -

Help, I have forgotten my unlock pattern
If you have forgotten your custom unlock
pattern, then don't panic.
After 5 unsuccessful tries a button should
appear saying 'Forgot pattern'. Press this
and you will be asked to enter your Gmail
username/password.
The phone will then ask for a new unlock
pattern. If you don't have a Gmail account,
then you might have to either call your
carrier or factory reset your phone:
1.Take out the battery
2.Press the volume down button+power to boot in recovery mode
3.scroll using volume keys
4.Scroll to factory reset and press power button

I am periodically getting a notification to select my keyboard. I have Swiftkey installed and selected and yet I keep on being forced to re-select it to dismiss the notification. Anyone know how to stop this?

I assume you mean with Titanium? Or is there now a way to freeze apps in Kitkat? And is it ok to freeze the stock android keyboard. Thanks

Yes, with TB. I always keep the other imput methods frozen for precisely this reason.

Stop hearing Android system Select Keyboard Notification
Hi, I was a victim of this thing too and have a creative solution - replace the notification sound by a silent one you create:
- Use your smartphone voice recorder to create a one second silent notification - just press the record button and then immediately again.
- An ma4 sound file is created
- Rename the file to whatever name you want
- Share it - email it to yourself
- Go to your email inbox open the email with the fole and save the file - it will be saved in the "downloads" folder
- Go to Seiings -> Sound and Vibration -> Notification sound -> Deafault Notification Sound -> and change the sound to the one you created
Now it can notify as much as it wants - you will not hear it - like a mute person shouting- Hahahahah...

Simply create folder ringtones anywhere and put music files into it, OS will find those files. For notifications use folder notifications, for alarms alarms.
You may need to reboot your device.

How can I assign a ringtone to a specific contact? lots of versions prior to 5.0 were able to do so. Did Google remove it from 5.0?

Go to the specific contact, touch the pencil icon on the top right. Then tap the three dots on the top right and select "Set ringtone." Make sure you hit all the check buttons on the way out and you have the ringtone set. Seems like an extra step or to compared to KK.

Is there a specific file format or size limit for ringtones? I've tried copying mp3's to the ringtone folder of my wife's Nexus 5 and they don't show up under the ringtone menu.

MP3 and OGG are the file formats I have. I generally have better luck getting them to work if I transfer from my laptop via USB than if I save them directly to the phone by downloading or using an OTG adapter.

Thank you Miller! Until you posted the answer I was unable to locate where to do this on my Moto X (2nd gen) also.
