[Q] How to get past bootloader, cannot delete PG88IMG.zip - HTC Desire S

Hi
I have tried to change my hboot from 6.98... to 7.00... Because i want to install miui on my saga. I followed the steps in this thread:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1679338.. But after the hboot installed, i could only reboot. Now i am stuck with the bootscreen (was running andromedaus jelly bean rom) and therefore i cannot delete the pg88img.. What should i do?

Shut your phone down, pull the sdcard and use your PC to delete/rename the file.

I upgraded from 0.98 straight to 7.* by mistake, now phone stuck on Andromadus boot animation. I am s-of running Andromadus test build. How bad damage is and what I should do now?
Thank you for your answer

I deleted the PG88IMG.zip, and flashed 2.00.2 hboot. but still have the same issue: after flashing roms are stuck on boot animation.
I did some research, but steel no luck fixing this.
UPD--
I succeed to recover to one of my backups after pulling off my battery (after proper power off) for few minutes. I don't know if it helped, or may bee
it because of I first tried CM 7.1 Instead of CM10 alfa from Andromadus. Anyway, I'm really happy now

Did you flash the ROM after changing hboot?

Yes, after flashing 2.00.2 I tried to flash Andromadus3.3/CM7.1/7.2
Have luck on CM, but still can't get success flashing Andromadus.
May be problem in bootloader?
My Bootloader loks like this now:
Code:
***LOCKED***
SAGA PVT ENG S-OF RL
HBOOT-2.00.2002 (PG88*****)

You could just put your sdcard into another phone and delete file from it, like I did.

I use a normal sdcard that is an adaptor for micro sdcards.
Sent from my Desire S

I had this problem once, I ended up booting the phone into recovery with no sdcard, then inserting sd card (being careful that the battery stayed in).
Since then I use the dd command to flash hboot if necessary.

So can someone PLEASE HELP if you can. I will be as detailed as i can. I will start off with my phone specs and so forth: By the way i am on GB 2.3.4..

Okay, i wanted to download the ELEGANCIA ICS ROM but before i could i had to download a FIRMWARE PACKAGE(or just firmware). So i downloaded the Firmware from 3.32 RUU which is for the ELEGANCIA ROM...By the way, I DID THIS BEFORE I INSTALLED the ELEGANCIA ROM(i hadn't downloaded it yet..elegancia rom) I followed the instructions how to flash it. It said it would tell you what to do next..so i did it. Went into Recovery and flashed through sd and installed the ZIP file and when it asked if i wanted to udate it i pressed Yes...and then this is what HAPPENs NEXT.
It ask if i want to update and I do and then it says:
Parsing...[ SD ZIP]
[1] BOOTLOADER - Ok
Update Complete...
Press POWER to reboot.
So i press power and all it does is: BOOTS up and then TURNS OFF
It continues to do that...I believe it's called BOOT LOOPING.?
I pull out the battery and press VOL. Down plus POWER at the same tiime and it takes me back to the WHITE SCREEN and I see FASTBOOT, RECOVERY, FACTORY RESET, SIMLOCK and IMAGE CRC but does NOT let me choose. It automatically goes to HBOOT.
I have to pull battery or it will continue to BOOT itself on and off again. Even with the phone off, I connect it to my usb connection on my laptop and my device does not show on my laptop. Both the usb connection and usb cord are working properly.
That is my BIG PAIN in MY ASS right now!!
Can someone please help me.?
You will have to make your phone Super-CID or download the correct firmware package that fit your CID.
Super-CID makes you able to flash any firmware package etc.

You stated that your ROM was GB and that's not supported on the 3.32 F/W.
Download your ICS ROM and mike's SuperWipe script from the ARHD thread.
Copy them to the SDcard via the PC and a USB <-> microSD adapter.
Delete the PG58IMG.zip file on the SDcard.
Boot the phone into Bootloader, get into Recovery, SuperWipe and flash the ROM.
You also have a locked version (1.27.0000) of the HBOOT, I suggest at some stage installing an unlocked version (1.27.1100) from: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1459767

Don't bother restoring to stock, waste of effort.
Read my previous post.
1. Anyway, did the ICS F/W update work ?
2. Is the PG58IMG.zip file still on the SDcard ? If so rename /delete it.
3. Get your chosen ICS ROM and mike's SuperWipe script onto the SDcard.
4. Go into recovery and run the Superwipe script then flash the ROM.
Steps 2 & 3 you'll need to use a PC to do these with a USB <-> microSD adapter.
I am assuming that there wasn't a typo in your original post in that you actually have HBOOT 1.27.0000, this is ICS ONLY firmware and GB won't work on it.
BTW what recovery have you got ? CWM or 4EXT ?

I just tried it and the phone is ON NOW BUT it is just on the White screen with the Green HTC letters. It has been on for 15 minutes already...By the way, I DO NOT have a microSD adapter. I did it by getting into CWM and going to Recovery and going into mounts and then i mounted it and was able to install it like that. Is that the reason why it is still on the White HTC screen? Do I pull the Battery?
Another thing I still haven't flashed my ICS Rom because when i DID Mike's SuperWipe it did it's thing and just automattically went to the White HTC screen.
No, there is NO TYPO, that is exactly what it says. I believe i still have CWM and I remember tthat I had 4ext to.

So precisely what have you got on the SDcard at the moment ?
PG58IMG.zip ?
SuperWipe.zip (or what ever the name is) ?
ICS ROM "zip" file ?
Edit: If you used the superwipe script you have no OS on the phone and will NEED to flash an ICS ROM through recovery. It shouldn't have gone to the white HTC screen just returned to CWM. If you don't have an ICS ROM on the phone's SDcard you can try adb pushing it or possibly use another device that has microUSB capability.

What I have now is Superwipe.zip and ICS ROM.zip. I deleted the PG58IMG that I had on the SD Card before I did the SUPERWIPE.
I pulled out the battery and got into recovery and installed from sdcard and I went to install ICS ROM and it started but then it said ABORTED. Tried again and said the same thing.
Should I try another ICS ROM?
What about not having the PG58IMG?

[Q] Bootloop Sensation XE

Hello!
My HTC Sensation XE have gone in a bootloop after i rooted it. I've tried several ROMs, and I can't figure how to make the loop stop.
I'm able to go in hboot, and 4EXT recovery.
My hboot looks like this;

Any idea how to make the loop stop?
I want to use the HyperSensation rom, if u need to know that to help me!
Thx for answers!
Did you wipe before installing the rom? If not this is what is causing your issue! In recovery you need to do the wipe.
Hope this helps! The thank button is there for a reason!

If you mean putting a ROM on the SD card, and flash it via 4ext, then yes. Thats the only way ive tried to flash roms. Might that be the reason for the loop?
Radio?
Shoudln't the hboot say something about radio?
mine doesn't, but it I remember that it did the first time i went in Hboot.
If that's the problem, how can i fix it?

First thing first do the whole first Step of this guide to S-OFF your Sensation. Do it very carefully and follow all steps!. Don't get bored to read.
Then follow this http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=21711154#post21711154
VERY VERY VERY CAREFULLY Find your CID and MID as the thread says (I recommend using the method 1. fastboot getvar cid
2. fastboot getvar mid). Then download the correct firmware from the same thread corresponding to your CID. The correct version is 3.32 if you want to flash ICS roms. Just find the correct one to download.
Then follow this http://forum.xda-developers.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=966814&stc=1&d=1332793798
to install a custom recovery. There is a file called "Recovery flash guide - READ ME.txt". Do as it says EXACTLY .
Then just download whatever rom you want, place it on your sd and flash it using the Install zip from sd-card option located in the recovery (access it by pressing volume up+power when the phone is turned off)
This is a guide for a specific ROM (Android Revolution HD) but the procedure is similar for any ROM. just flash different zip

Help with HTC Desire S (bricked)

OK, need a bit of help with a Desire S that can only get to HBOOT screen (vol down + power) otherwise it's just a white HTC screen.
Phone is S-ON. HBOOT 0.98.002.
I've tried Revolutionary.io's guide to convert to S-OFF but I just get 'Waiting for Device'. Tried uninstalling HTC drivers then installing again without luck, disabling firewall and AV, still no luck. Kinda given up on that front.
Trying 'fastboot devices', device is recognised, but if I try to flash a recovery ROM from fastboot I get an 'out of memory' error.
I don't know if USB debugging is enabled or not (how can I tell & enable from HBOOT if not)?
I thought about going via HTCDEV and their method, but my HBOOT is at the wrong version (can I upgrade it to V 2.000.2?)
I'm really running out of options now....anything else I can try??? HELPPPP!
Run htc ruu exe file and don't close the windows, find rom.zip in windows temp folder, rename it to PG88IMG.zip ale copy to sdcard. Turn on your phone in hboot mode, rom will be flashed automaticaly.
Or just go to fastboot mode in hboot and then run RUU, should work if you have bootloader locker (relocked).

sorry, but I'm really not getting this. I'm looking for a RUU to flash a recovery ROM. When I went to HTC dev, there were all the ROMs for all the different carriers. I don't know what mine is. I tried downloading one for Vodafone, unzipped and searched for RUU.exe but there isn't one.
I need to get to this RUU.exe but dont know how.:crying:
what is a recovery ROM? anyway, people over here at the DS forum has already extracted the radio, Hboot and ROM of official ICS. search around...

I had a bit of progress. I downloaded the latest 4.0 RUU util from HTC Dev, ran it, extracted the ROM.zip and renamed it to PG88IMG.zip, copied it up to the SD card, rebooted the phone into FASTBOOT and the phone recognised it and started installing.
Wahey, I thought, that's it I've cracked it, but then it gets stuck on Updating the bootloader. Stuck for nearly an hour. Tried twice and different SD cards...same thing.
Is this because I'm still S-ON and bootloader is locked, or do you think my internal memory is fried?

Absolutely irrelevant. He's not flashing anything himself, he's executing RUU which can flash everything.
OK, so how do I enable USB debugging if I can only get into HBOOT? Is there a FASTboot or ADB command that can do it? I think that's what's stopping Revolutionary.

And what means to flash a RUU? Do you see any RUU running on your phone?
Trying to help people is a good thing but not before trying the stuff yourself, knowing the differences, how it works and WHY it should be done
amdr said:
Run htc ruu exe file and don't close the windows, find rom.zip in windows temp folder, rename it to PG88IMG.zip ale copy to sdcard. Turn on your phone in hboot mode, rom will be flashed automaticaly.
Or just go to fastboot mode in hboot and then run RUU, should work if you have bootloader locker (relocked).

I have an unlocked HTC ONE S (T-Mobile) with CWM Recovery v6.0.3.1. I was having an issue with looped rebooting of my phone. So I tried to flash a cm-10.1.3-RC2 on the phone using ROM Manager. After this the phone keeps rebooting in loop also this time I am not able to format the sdcard and everytime I try it I get error "Formatting /sdcard/.android_secure...
Error mounting /sdcard/.android_secure!". Can someone plz help?

You need to flash a stock recovery. Then from bootloader you have to do a FACTORY RESET/CLEAR STORAGE.
afterwards, SD should be mountable.
Thanks Khan. But my problem is that my PC is not recognizing my device in the bootloader mode. Also when I try to mount SD card as USB drive it is not getting reflected as external drive. After trying for almost 40-50 time I could see it in PC only once or twice.

hmm... Faulty Cable? or have you tried checking the device with another PC?
You can also check the DEVICE MANAGER while the phone is plugged in, and see if there is any unfinished device driver installation.
No, not at all a faulty cable I tried 2 different cables both of which used to work till yesterday. Just was able to connect to PC again flashed stock recovery img which I took a before flashing CWM but again not able to reset factory settings it just keeps restarting.

It should work though. Can you go into stock recovery? The phone with red triangle is ok. When this appears, pressing volumeUP+power should get you into recovery.
If you can't go into recovery, you may have flashed a wrong one.

Yep I got that red triangle with phone and reached the recovery mode prompt as well now what?

I was checking if the recovery you flashed is working correctly. Technically it should be able to wipe the SD storage.
Try factory reset again and then flash TWRP and see if you can mount the SD now.

Ok. But when I do factory settings reset it is not going back to the last software version I updated it to OTA. How to get the latest version on the phone?

Oh that. No it won't restore it like that. The factory reset was to make the SD PARTITION work again.
To get the stock ROM back, you need to run an RUU or have an OTA.zip ...
That being said, what's your CID?
Also tell me the details on your bootloader. Bootloader version, radio...

Okay you can use T-MOBILE US Jellybean (JB) RUU . You an find RUUs stickied in the development section.
When you download it, connect your phone in FASTBOOT USB MODE and then run the RUU from PC.
It will restore your phone to stock.

Boot loop, No recovery. help needed :(

hi guys, ill try and keep it as brief as poss.
Phone was rooted working fine, dropped the phone and cracked the screen so sent for repair. Repair shop returned it back to stock :/
Left phone stock and working fine for a couple of months, accidentally let phone fully discharge and think it damaged the battery. Bought a new battery but the phone just boot loops. Can get into Hboot but when i choose recovery it just starts boot looping again. In a panic i flashed a 3.33 firmware but made no difference. Can someone give me a step by step how to sort? thanks!!
Phone says :
-firmware- 3.33-
pyramid pvt ship s-off rl
hboot 1.27.1100
emmc-boot
Im guessing its also locked because when i do the oem lock in command prompt its saying device is locked. cheers all.

I found the stock rom for my phone, double clicked the .exe and it went through all the loading process and installed the stock ruu onto my phone but the problem i started with is still there. If i turn the phone on it just goes to the htc logo and then reboots. If i hold power + vol down then pick recovery it does the exact same boot loop. thanks for your help!! :good:
