I dropped my phone yesterday and scratched the chrome bezel that goes around the from of the phone. Where can I get a replacement part or is there any way to repair it?

This sounds like a CRAZY idea, but I build plastic models, so this might actually work.
Maybe you can try masking off everything on your phone except for the bezel then sand it down til all the chrome is gone (low grit to higher grit for a smooth finish). After cleaning all of it up, use any color spray paint you want to repaint the bezel. You might need primer for it, depending on what kind of paint you use. Maybe topcoat it as well to protect the paint. Just make sure you spray in very light coats and it shouldn't run underneath the masking tape.
Obviously, this will take a lot of work, but that's the only thing I can think of if you can't find spare parts.
Also, the person mbernusg mentioned in his post might've done something similar. Just a random guess though.

Yes, it's quite simple once you figure it out. Make sure you place on as flat as possible and before you take the second protector film off smooth it down onto the screen slowly and use an applicator to smooth it on slowly. If you don't have an applicator just use a credit card.
It does take some practice though

Not cheap though. Had a look at Amazon and they're expensive and the reviews aren't too good either.
I have put quite a few screen protectors on- for family and friends, all of them are still bubble/dust free. All of these are the 'cheaply priced' one from ebay
The key things are :
Make sure the surrounding area where you are applying the protector is dust free- somewhere like a bathroom/shower room is best.
Clean the screen thoroughly with a lint-free cloth (usually provided with the protector).
Remove the 'number 1 plastic protector film only a bit at time, exposing as minimal as necessary, whilst using a credit card (with a thin lint free cloth over it) to press the the film from one end as you remove the protector film from othe other end.
As said above, keep the 'number 2 protector' on and smooth out any bubbles again with the credit card.
Peel off the 'number 2 protector'. Be careful, this sometimes 'raises' the actual protector off the screen and can allow dust to get in.
If any bubbles do appear after taking the number 2 protector off, use the credit card wrapped in a lint cloth to smooth them out (the cloth will of course prevent scratches).
Sometimes, dust can get in whilst you are applying. You WILL need to remove the protector and wash it thoroughly under running water.
I have had to do this a few times. Do not dry the protector with anything; you can actually apply it on wet (much like car window tint). You can squeeze out any excessive water out to the edge, again with the credit card. Just have another piece of cloth ready to absorb the excess and avoid getting it in the speaker.

U use a credit card its more easier and then I push the big air bubbles out .. it doesn't matter if there are a couple of small air bubbles as they will fix themselves

I have been using my Desire for about 13 months till now and I always carry it in my pocket.
I do notuse any screen protectiona and I still have not a single scratch untill now...I dunno if the protective screen is really necessary.
I wish I'd fitted a screen protector. I keep my Desire in a pouch but still managed to scratch the screen. Only a small one, but it still annoys me!
I always used cheap ones from ebay, even the ones sold with my hard-cases.
Here's i do (method found here on xda) : just take a warm/hot shower if there's "water" on the mirror, then you're good to go as the dust will be on the floor.

I have my desire since 8 months ago without any protection and the screen is perfect, as the first day. No matter if you carry anything made of metal in the same pocket your desire is. It's almost unscratchable
I find that screen protectors dull the look of the screen somewhat. Just take care not to carry coins or keys in the pocket along with the phone.

I dunno about the first question. But you're supposed to be able to put it on using a credit card to smooth it out as you apply it. In saying that, I've never done it successfully

I doubt having anything under the screen protector would harm these screens. The junk stuck under it isn't going to move as it's stuck in the adhesive.
The best way to apply them (for me anyways) is to clean the screen with an LCD cleaner (or make your own), use tape to blot up anything else, wipe again.
Next--I have found by taking the first layer of the film protecting the screen protector upside down works best. Dust and debris can fall and settle on the sticky side. Then carefully apply. As long as you don't touch the adhesive side, you can pick it up and keep applying the protector until you get it right. You want the top of the protector just about even with the AT&T globe.

By using tape do you mean using scotch tape, sticking it on the screen and pulling off?
I'll try washing my screen protector, drying it up, cleaning the screen with MF cloth, taping it up and then hopefully I'll be able to apply it perfectly! :fingers-crossed:

If you trap a particle of dust under the protector that has a hardness greater than the screen, yes, it will eventually scratch the screen in that spot.
However: Gorilla Glass has a Mohs hardness of around 9, which means there is not a lot in the mineral world that can scratch it. The likelihood of your trapping something like that under the screen protector, if you apply it correctly, is not great.
You should be able to remove a particle big enough to scratch your phone from the screen protector without having to wash the protector. I think you would ruin the screen protector if you wash it.
I've used packaging tape as it leaves no residue. Done it for years before with iPhones before owning an Android.

When you apply your screen protector, do it in a washroom with a hot shower running. The steamy air will prevent dust from getting under it.
I will try that out. I always seem to get a bit of dust or lint on the corner of my screen protectors.

Just don't wait too long, not sure if the humidity sensor would get affected.
The way I do it: obviously, I clean the screen then remove completely the clear layer from under to make sure no dust will fall in. I'm holding the screen protector with the tips of my fingers on the sides and gently bend it across (the long) median then align with the phone's screen (this is the hard part). Put the screen protector on the screen at this stge the contact area will be the median line, and then use a credit card and work your way to the eges (one side at a time). I never got any bubbles under this way. I caught some dust particles few times though. It takes patience but it pays off, currently I have no dust or bubbles on it.

If the particle is trapped in one place and can't move, I don't see how it can cause a scratch.
Plus, if any dust gets on the screen during the application process (as long as you've done a halfway decent job), its probably airborne. So its not grit or sand or anything like that (which would just fall to the ground instantly) but more likely skin, ash, etc.
A little preparation and a few tricks will go a long way to a good screen protector install. My process is:
1) Use a wet apply protector. Don't know why, but I've had vastly better results (no dust under protector) with wet apply rather than dry ones. I got to the point where I can do a dry type almost flawlessly, but only after lots of practice and a great amount of care. But even so, there still tends to be a dust particle or two. With wet apply, the first one I ever tried was perfectly dust free with little effort, and the subsequent ones also.
2) Before starting, examine the protector and see how it fits on the phone. With the backing still on the protector, place it on the phone's screen and match up the openings and edges to familiarize yourself.
3) As previously mentioned, use steam to pull dust out of the air. I run a hot shower for 5-10 minutes, then apply the protector in the bathroom. It won't eliminate all the dust, but makes a big difference.
4) Wipe the screen off with a micro-fiber cloth (often included with better quality wet apply protectors).
5) Blow off the screen with a can of compressed air (the kind used to dust electronics and whatnot) to get rid of any remaining dust.
6) Spray the application solution. Quickly apply the protector. As another mentioned, don't hold the sticky side up after you take the backing off, or it will instantly catch dust. Put the protector on quickly, don't let the sticky side touch anything but the screen. Handle the protector as little as possible, and by the edges.
7) Squeegee the protector down with a credit card (make sure the edge of the card is smooth) or some protectors will include a rubber squeegee. Blot the excess moisture at the edges. Then leave the phone alone while it dries.
The best investment for my smartphone has been Ghost Armor. I have spent so much money on packs of screen protectors. A couple years ago I decided $45 was worth it if I only needed to do it once a year. You won't regret it, and you don't have to install it.

I've also heard horror stories about peoples phones not working after they are done or the screen not functioning afterwards. And since you sign an agreement they aren't liable

I replace about 3 screen protectors a year (bought from amazon clear ones, 3 for $1.99). Other than a little rainbow effect when the screen is off, no regrets looks just like glass. I've been through many protectors before (ridiculously many on my first 'smartphones' rip moto ming, touchpro 1&2) but I can't justify the cost anymore, I'd rather have none (since I change my device every 8-12 months).

Screen protectors that come in packs are crap. The higher quality kind that cost $15 or so (Skinomi, Zag, etc) are in a different class. I've had a Skinomi on my One X since release (May), and one on my Flyer for almost a year and a half. Both are still looking great.

I've never used a screen protector. Don't like the feel of them. This phone has great glass. I'm a mechanic and I keep my phone in my pocket all day (screen towards my leg of course) and not one scratch

Was gonna say the same bout my Zagg...love it! Wet application and a squeegee, works perfect every time. The wet app also can aide with alignment if you don't get it just right, you can still move it before you squeegee.

Not sure if this is still relevant, but I will put a vote for Ghost Armor as well. I have it for all my devices and it's like there's nothing there. Crystal clear and screen responsiveness is great. Had Zagg before and the orange peel feel and stickiness made me remove it. Those cheap packs aren't great either, they scratch up very very quickly.
So I just got this screen protector today and it does look amazing ill admit. The problem is it does not seem like the top part of the protector wants to attach to the phone as if there is no adhesive. This is mostly my fault ill admit. I put it on wrong and what i did was take the bottom of nail and peeled it up and tried to re apply to adjust it. Is there any way I can maybe re ad the adhesive and how can I safely get off any lint or w/e that may have gotten onto the bottom of the screen protector? I already opened a ticket to spigen but I heard that their customer service is crap so I just wanted to see if there was anything I could do in the mean time.

No such luck. They uses special adhesive. No way to remove dust. You have to be extremely careful when applying this glass protector....
Sgp won't help you because it's your fault for applying it incorrectly.

You have to be quick, there is a 30days time frame from when you purchased.
I must be just as bad. This is the most frustrating screen protecter to apply. I've been known to mess up once but never had this much problems. It floats off center, fingers holding it and getting in the way. Front plastic made it hard to estimate the edge with the rounded corners, getting caught as well on fingers as I let go pushing it slightly to one side. Unable to pry it back up without barely scraping the adhesive ruining one corner if not multiple edges from micro fuzz etc. The squeegee is worthless on the glass, back protector is fine but just have to deal with it.
Must be me. Oh well. Good thing I get the cheap ass protector with my Neo Hybrid case.
You tried the masking tape method?
Align it the screen protector without peeling off the back cover. Once it's in place, use making tape to hold it in place, like a book. Put some a strip from the front down across onto the phone. You should be able to "open" it like the page from a book. Then apply it. Should make things easier.
a Good company will stand behind their products. After seeing my brother's Hybrid case and reading some things on their customer service, I chose to pass on Spigen.
The clear coat on his bumper part is already chipping way, the whole thing looks like a cheap Chinese knock off ( bought directly from Spigen).
Zagg for example, a product I don't recommend at all because 1) It's a horrible product 2) it's ridiculously expensive. But the only thing they have is pretty much unquestioned replacements. Which I'm sure they can do because of ridiculous markup.
BTW, it might not be your fault at all, because these are rigid glass pieces, they have to be flat in order to stick to the phone. a SLIGHT imperfection will cause it to not stick.
All that being said, I went with MIME glass protector.
I have the glas t and I love it. They are much easier to apply then typical plastic ones as they dont bend and flop around when applying. When I applied mine it lined up perfectly but I did get lint under it right in the middle of the damn screen. I tried dealing with it but couldn't take it so I lifted it half way up with my finger nail and used scotch tape to get the lint off... dropped it back down and it looked even worse. I thought i wasted 27 bucks until the morning when I looked at my screen and bubbles were gone. So it is possible to remove lint just dont touch the adhesive.

just pay the half price spigen charges to replace it and move on. sulk it up as paying for a learning experience.
they already mention that the best method for aligning the thing is to use scotch tape on the top and bottom aligning it then drop down.
if you dont want any dust trapped, well don't mind me for stating the obvious but... don't work in a dusty room, close windows/doors turn off fans... don't breathe too hard on it lol.
use a photo air duster like a Rocket blower, to remove any left over dust/lint from cleaning the screen. I find that camera lens solution and lens paper works perfectly for prepping the surface. use the included stickers to remove any left over dust that cannot be blown away by the rocket blower.
if you can do not reapply once completely set down, when applying make sure it's aligned, bottom edges, make sure the gaps are evenly distributed on all sides, cutout holes centered...
when applying and you notice it is not centered gently lift up but never touch the adhesive side. lift up with only scotch tape.
I've been applying screen protectors for years and have gotten it down to a science... everyone comes to me to get theirs installed haha...
Once any part of this is adhered scotch tape is useless as it's glass. you have to use a suction cup or your finger nail you just have to be careful.
I install mine in the bathroom with the shower on hot. Let the steam take care of all the dust particles. I have been doing it this way for a awhile now and i never get dust under the screen.

i installed mines 5 days ago and got a 2mm air bubble on the right side of the home button i couldn't squeegee it out and doesn't seem to want to go away. has anyone else experienced this? is there anything i can do to get rid of it or will it eventually go away on its own? fortunately its not on the actual screen but its still an eyesore
i re applied my twice, wif no side effect, just dun touch the adhesive side, use industrial musking tape to lift it and for dust on under the screen, use scotch tape to remove it. key point is to never touch e adhesive side wif ur finger. nothing wrong wif this product, love it! its like the original screen, just tat if u really scratch it, u can remove it and there is the perfect screen below it.
btw for those tat claim it could b an production defects tat the glass is not perfectly straight, being in the glass industry for over 30 yrs, its actually easier and cheaper to create prefectly straight glass then any wif the slightest curve.

Same thing happened to me so I had to return it. The install came out perfect but the top left did not want to seal/adhere properly. I was so disappointed so I just went with the tried and true zagg. I purchased the protector from eBay so the return policy is different from their website.

just tried lifting up that part of the screen for a few seconds and putting it back down. this air bubble is like a giant zit that wont go away

The issue with it not laying after picking it up with your fingernail is not necessarily because the adhesive has gone bad. You need to level out the edge you stuck your nail under. Happened to me, fixed it with the squeege between the phone glass and the protector, prying up to level out the edge.

The steam trick works. Its not like its a sauna and your phone is a steamy. The steam is like a static electricity to dust.

I recently purchased a tempered glass screen protector for my nexus 5. From using it so far I love most everything about it. It feels just like the screen without a screen protector and does not smudge is easily as the other screen protectors I would use. Since I'm used to paying a lot less for screen protectors I took a lot of time to apply the screen protector. I took about 30 minutes, but it was worth it since I applied it perfectly. Not a piece of dust, so straight it looks like the screen itself. However as soon as I applied it I was disappointed to see these weird patterns under the screen. I said spider webs because that is the best term I can think of to describe them. It almost looks like little circles of fiber are under the screen. The biggest one has a little rainbow circle in the middle surrounded by what looks like a spider web. Any help would be appreciated.

It's moisture - did you apply it in a wet environment? I applied mine in a bathroom after running a hot shower (to settle the dust) and ended up with something that looks exactly like this.

Its a known issue with the N5. Almost everyone has the spider web with the tampered glass, especially by the mic. You might be able to get rid of it by using binder clips or some sort of clips and leave it over night.
I was in a bathroom since it has the least dust but it was dry at the time. I did wipe it down with 70% isopropyl rubbing alcohol. I didn't notice any left at the time and I figure it would have all evaporated quickly anyways. What did you end up doing with yours?

Don't buy the same screen protector. You'll get the same result. Mine also have that little dimple on the bottom right portion on my phone. If you must, get the iloom flex glass or similar kind. It goes on your screen without air bubble trapped unlike the non bendable glass protector. Hope this helps.

you can try massaging them just like getting rid of bubbles from a plastic screen protector. applying pressure using your fingers.
if you don't want to use binders, you can use clothespin with a cloth in between to apply pressure.
I initially had them but after doing the above I got rid of it and it never came back.
It could well be a faulty screen protector. Which brand did you buy? I had an identical problem with my spigen tempered glass screen protector. Luckily they were happy to replace/refund it as it was known to have come from the original, faulty batch they initially released around the release date of the nexus 5.

Its not faulty, I'm very OCD myself, and I had the same thing with a tempered glass screen protector from Anker.
It took about a week of gentle massaging, and rubbing, but it comes out. You just need to keep rubbing it...

may need the "glue" to take care of it...
use a hair drier and get it warm... then use pressure and come clothe clips... i think a binder clip is too strong

I used a small adjustable wrench with cloth covering the back of phone and the glass. With it you decide how firm its clamped.
20 minutes and the big bubble to the right of the led was gone. Never to return. ?

An update to provide info to those in the future. Not wanting to try anything with my phone until trying out a new one, I contacted the person who sold it to me. The eBay seller kindly sent me a new one, so as soon as I got it, I applied it. I was even more careful, and was frustrated every time it was half a millimeter off. Once again, I applied it perfectly. I put my finger on the center of it, and watched it slowly stick. My heart dropped when it revealed the bubbles, in the identical spots as they were in before. Not to mention the biggest one seems bigger and there is a slight patterned line in the middle. I haven't decided yet. I might try the methods everyone provided (Thanks!), or I will get myself a nice spigen one. I think it might have been because it was some cheap protector. The pictures are below.

I used binder clips but I used a thick microfiber cloth before I put the binder clip on and it worked 100%. I had a small area near the camera at the top and placed a MF cloth over it and used the end of a ball point pen (Not the tip) and put pressure on it and it disappeared. It's now been 1 month and its still flawless.
If you don't clamp and leave it clamped for 20 minutes or so on those bubbles, they will likely appear on any glass protector. Its a widely know n5 screen issue.
A binder clip....or a medium adjustable wrench work great. Careful not to over tighten and break the glass tho. And use padding....cloth.
Some guys here keep returning them, thinking they are all defective adhesive in the exact same spots. Lol. Especially the well known big spot to the right of the led.

I'll add, my mime ghost had the same bubbles as the pics above. 20 minutes of the wrench in each spot....they were all gone for good. 2 months now and the glass is still flawless and bubble free.

I had the same issue like you. You have to take the back cover off and unscrew the bolt that is under to bubble. The screen is fitted with 4 bolts at the bottom. It is too tightened.

I probably wouldn't want to try it until I had tried the binder clip, but doesn't taking off the back cover void your warranty?

Thread cleaned, and honestly, I don't know why (or how for that matter) it turned into a racial discussion.

No. You can easily take it off with a plastic card. It's fitted with clips.
