Hello,
So today I had a few hours to waste at school. I played around on my phone just using social media and stuff but I noticed the battery went down REALLY fast. Also I noticed that the phone was very hot when just browsing twitter. I'm rooted, have elementalX installed and I'm on dalvik. I'll include photos. Help would be appreciated. I had GPS off, also the 'ok google' command was turned off. I know the Nexus 5 battery life isn't great but I normally get about 3-4 hours of screen on time, I only use my phone to browse social media really.
Thanks in advance!

well, your wifi connection looks terrible, thatll drain battery very fast. plus google play services took a little battery from you.
Hmm, I was only sitting in thay class for about 20 minutes though and normally I get way better battery life at school. I will check on the play services though. thanks!

If you're rooted, gsam or something similar can tell you if you had any wakelocks, and if so, what app.
The stock battery usage screen pretty much has no useful info.

You know what you're doing.... But if someone doesn't.... They'll never find issues with it.... Most the time. Or see wakelocks.

Oh, and as a full time battery life helper.....I can't help anyone without something better than stock screen shots....not without taking guess after guess. Lol

truth, lol
except thats the first place ill see when a wakelock is bugging my phone. itll show up as my phone being awake when my screens off. normally when my phone screen is off, my phone doesnt get woken(except for gmails or messages). but if i see it awake, i know i have wakelock to kill(or get a system process unstuck).

But how do you find the wake locks? Like a needle in a hay stack without a battery monitoring app.
And again, I'm sure you personally can find them quick enough, but 90 percent on here can't.... And I sure can't if they don't get gsam, BBS, wakelock detector or something.

its usually like one of three anyways(if i get bad one). anyways, i use wakelock detector to greenify sysyem apps occasionally, or if i need to find a wakelock https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.uzumapps.wakelockdetector

Got that one too. Lol
Gsam is great overall....but wakelock detector has more detail for actual wakelocks.
When helping someone, I usually ask for gsam main screen.... To get the big picture, then wakelocks.
K.... we're hijacking. Even tho its thread related... I still must report us both. ?

Hello all!
I recently received my OnePlus One and have had it for about 5 days now. I love the phone, but I seem to be having a problem with my battery. I've only been able to squeeze about 3 hours from this phone. Coming from a Note 2 (which also has a 3100 mah battery) I was expecting to get about 6-7 hours of screen on time. Could I have a defective battery? My screen is only at about 25%-30% brightness most of the time.
I attached a screenshot of my battery life. Thanks!

Can you post the complete battery graph, maybe wakelocks draining the battery... If not then seems like I also have the same problem. Not doing anything but it drained 11% of my battery.

I've charged my phone since this so I don't have the graph anymore. However, I notice that by battery drains 1-2% per hour on standby.
Your screenshot shows absolutely nothing. Your battery is not defective. You obviously have wakelocks that are preventing your phone from deep sleeping.
You need to show:
- Wakelocks (Partial Wakelocks, CPU, etc)
- Overall battery stats
I wouldn't be surprised if its Google Play Services.

Well those screenshots don't really help now since you charged your phone. When you charge your phone your previous battery stats are dumped and new stats start to appear since you've unplugged.

In simplest terms, its a app on your phone that is preventing your phone from entering a deep sleep mode. So even though your screen is off, a app on your phone is keeping your phone awake as if the screen is on not allowing the phone to enter a deep sleep mode (very conservative on battery).
Can you download GSAM Battery Monitor and look at the info that gives you? And which ROM are you on?
Check if your "Ok Google" turned on, i had mine turned on and it was draining my battery as it was not letting my phone to sleep.
Google Search -> Menu -> Google Hotword detection
And yes Double Tap to Wake might also be another one .

I have used BBS and GSAM before, but I think GSAM is better. However, in the latest update some of the menu options have changed names.
Could you explain what each one is for? I can see Kernel Wakelocks, which one is 'Partial Wakelocks' now? Should I be looking at any of the other tabs?

In Gsam, click the vacuum icon on the bottom left of the screen. This will tell you which apps are using the most battery. You can then click on an app from there and see what exactly it's doing. When your battery gets low, see what comes up as draining a lot of your battery and post back.
As to partial wakelocks, idk. Let's just see what is draining your battery.
I prefer Wakelock Detector. Gsam is not too bad though. I just prefer the simplicity of wakelock detector

OK so I have let my phone run without charging all day and here are the stats. I could only get 3 hrs. of screen time...pretty crappy. Anyway, my brightness has been at about 60% and GPS in battery saving mode. Please help, as I love this phone, but would hate to get rid of it because of battery issues.

I get almost close to 6 hours of screen ontime , but yes most of the stuff like GPS / NFS is turned off when im not using it ..
Like i mentioned did you try to turn off the " OK google " stuff , i had experience of it waking up device quite often and draining my battery, try turning them off ...
Other place to look out for what is walking up your device most of the time and deny them the access to wake up your phone , to hunt those apps , check
settings -> privacy -> privacy guard -> menu -> advanced -> device tab .
I found my facebook app / google play services was constantly waking up my device when on sleep , i denied "keep awake" to boost some more battery life ...

Check on what's keeping your GPS on all the time. My GPS is left on, but when I'm looking at my battery stats for the past 24 hours and it's maybe 3 or 4 slivers where the GPS actually turned on for a moment when I used an app to find my location.
So I've had my S6 for just over a week and am really enjoying it, unfortunately though I am experiencing some serious battery issues. Most nights for instance I'm losing about 30% while I sleep and that's with mobile data and bluetooth turned off, the only thing on is WiFi. Here is an example from last night, I went to sleep with it on 90%, having used a few apps before bed and then woke up with it on 60%:
Any advice?
Turn off...
NFC
Location History
Facebook Sync
Set Wi-Fi to only scan when it is on

You have 3,5 hours of wakelock/held awake. This way more than Facebook/Google service. I suggest confirm that deep sleep is working and that you look into the wakelocks. This isn't just facebook and Google location service.

CPU Spy can tell you if your phone gets to deep sleep.
Better Battery Stats can show you wakelock.s. BBS also shows you deep sleep, screen on and such, which can be helpful when troubleshooting wakelocks.
When you sleep, does your phone sleep, or does it stay up all night and crunch 1s and 0s? Rate this thread to express how you deem the speed at which the Huawei Nexus 6P's battery drains under standby conditions. A higher rating indicates that when the phone is not in use, the battery drains minimally.
Then, drop a comment if you have anything to add!

Go to bed with phone at 100% wake up to 98%. What's not to love.
Pretty good.

Exact same results here.
Same, last night went to bed at 32% and woke up with 30%. It's MUCH IMPROVED from previous versions of Android.
Having major issues with Doze, with battery drain of between 15-20% overnight.
There's a thread where these users can weigh in here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/nexus-6p/help/doze-expected-t3237573

That would be because of an app you have on your phone keeping it awake.

I should get my second replacement soon.
Just wanted to show that some users aren't experiencing the same battery life "Doze" is supposed to provide.
Have you turned off Wifi always scanning?
From full charge at 9pm i loose 3% when alarm goes off at 5:30 am
I've lost anywhere between 1%-5% overnight with doze. Not really sure why the difference either. When I look at the battery chart, it's showing very minimal "awakes" each night. Either way, this is much better than prior version of Android where I'd easily lose 7%-10% overnight.
One of my only gripes with doze is that it kills some helpful apps that haven't been updated yet. Timely, I'm talking about you... No more smart rise until there's an update.
I don't know exact numbers (haven't been checking that hardcore) but the battery graph looks damn near flat while my phone and I are "dozing."
Deep Sleep Battery Saver is a really great app to help reduce battery drain. I was struggling with my phone always being awake, even with aggressive doze mode and DSDS helped a lot.
It does require root because you need to make it a system app, though.

The solution for Timely for now is to not have it optimized for battery.

I tried that one night and it didn't smart rise 30 minutes in advance. Alarm only went off at the time set.
I'm getting a 5% drain in 2hrs dozing and apparent exchange services is the culprit any ideas? It survived a factory reset, cache wipe etc..

My guess is that the exchange services are treated as priority (just as with SMS and phone calls) and keep the phone from going into doze mode/continually waking it up.
I'd suggest using a third-party app for Exchange (such as Outlook or Cloudmagic, which is excellent) and remove the other exchange account. Doze will put those apps into hibernation unless you whitelist them in battery optimization. Give that a shot and see if the issue persists. I'm using Outlook and haven't had any frequent wake-up issues. My phone dozes like a baby.
I recently bought a Lefe Blade X8 (can't find any details online about this model, it was very cheap and had decent gear so I bought it) and I'm satisfied with it except one thing. Battery is draining so fast even when I'm not using it. So I checked the battery stats in the options and saw that phone never goes into deep sleep, it's always awake. Then I started the phone in safe mode to see if it was an app causing it, I left the phone running in safe mode at night and checked the stats again.
Here is the stats: (It seems I can't post the image link as a new user) %100 to %50 in 12 hours without using the phone, WiFi %22, Phone Idle %20.
It seems that I have a Wi-Fi problem, as you can see at top Wi-Fi was off all night but at the stats screen it seems like it was on.
I installed Wakelock Detector and checked the kernel wakelocks, and the biggest wakelocks were ttyC0 and EINT. I will share a detailed Wakelock Detector screenshot when I got the chance.
