[Q] Help identifying Tablet - General Questions and Answers

Could someone help me identify my new tablet, so that I can flash the correct CM ROM. It's branded as a Tursion.
Model number: F721
Android version: 4.0.4
Baseband version: 1.4rc3
Kernel version: 3.0.8 [email protected] #2
Build number: 20120821-F721
Any help is appreciated.
Thanks in adavance.

Didn't find out if it has a ROM or not but did find:
Diag/Setup Menu - recovery mode?
Up+Power+home on touchscreen (four little boxes)
1- Autotest
2- Tools Menu (see below)
3- Vibration
4- Screen Color Adjust
5- Camera
6-7- missing
8- Keyboard
9- Speaker
10- Audio and Router/ing (?)
11-12- missing
13- Battery
14- Touch Screen
15-16- missing
17- Gravity Sensor
18- missing
19- T-Card (? older name for microSD)
20- WIFI
21- EFUSE
The 2- Tools Menu leads to:
(read left to right, top to bottom. No numbers)
1- Clear Test Results
2- IMEI
3- Coupling Test
4- Clear Data (did a factory reset, lost apps)
5- Off
It appears to have root already. I installed superuser and sshdroid and am able to ssh [email protected] to it.
I was able to remove the unwanted apps (so my daughter could use it) from /system/app.
Unfortunately the /oem directory w/ facebook and youtube (just what I want my daughter surfing) is not removeable. It appears to be mounted in the /init program (binary file) since grep'ing that file returns the line /oem. I tried adding a line to /init.rc to "umount /oem" but that didnt work. Any ideas?
(before anyone screams...she's young, when she gets older she'll get more access)

Thank you so much I needed to factory reset a tablet with this chinnese service menu and thanks to your information I was able to do it may the force be with you

How to Root
This was a hard & long trial to get this phone rooted. Though, it's a very simple way found by me and yuweng, thanks bro!
Based on yuweng's tutorial : MT6577 CWMR Root Updated V2[/b]
Download these and follow the tutorial:
ADB.zip - http://www.mediafire.com/?11cbu388oqu8amw
All the Drivers I could find - http://www.mediafire.com/?wfr5fgkxkdau6w4
CWMR Recovery's.zip - http://www.mediafire.com/?2r30o428558h22q
MTK Rom Studio 1.1.77.146.zip - http://www.mediafire.com/?h22puc8kac6axv7
SP Flash Tool v2.1134.00.zip - http://www.mediafire.com/?ob5caeigzc1ga10
SP Flash Tool v3.1224.0.sn85.zip - http://www.mediafire.com/?5u29nf4fp4omw9n
Root_Superuser_3.1.3_Busybox_1.20.2-Update1-signed.zip - http://www.mediafire.com/?fee3e7cta5mg3fp
- Setting up the folders and phone (to make it easy)
1. Create a folder in C:\ called "GooApple"
2. Extract all the ZIP files EXCEPT "Root_Superuser_3.1.3_Busybox_1.20.2-Update1-signed.zip" to "C:\GooApple\" so you have 6 folders in GooApple.
3. And copy "Root_Superuser_3.1.3_Busybox_1.20.2-Update1-signed.zip" to "C:\GooApple\"
4. I prefer doing a factory reset before doing this.
* Factory reset can be found at Settings > General > Privacy > Factory data reset > Reset phone
5.Now enable Unknown sources, USB debugging and Stay Awake.
* Unknown sources can be found at Settings > Store.
* USB debugging and Stay Awake can be found at Settings > Store > Development.
6. Make sure all drivers are installed properly. Some might install when connecting the USB.
7. Turn off your phone and unplug your USB cable from the phone (Let the USB be in your computer/laptop)
- Backup your own recovery (not required but suggested)
8. Open "Flash_tool.exe" from version "3.1224.0.sn85".
9. Click on File > Open Scatter-loading file, then browse to "C:\GooApple\MTK Rom Studio 1.1.77.146" and open "MT6573_Android_scatter.txt".
10. Click on the Read back tab (top). (If there is anything in the list, please Remove it.)
11. Click on Add and double click on the ROM_1.
12. Now type recovery.img at Filename, then browse to "C:\GooApple\MTK Rom Studio 1.1.77.146\SPFT_UPLOAD" and click Save.
13. In the popup, select
* Type: Hex
* Read Method: Read Page Only
* Start Adress: 0x980000
* Length: 0x00500000
And click Ok
This info can be found when loading the Firmware.info in MTK Rom Studio
14. Click on Read back. Now hold the "Volume -" button and insert the USB in your phone. It should say OK at the end.
Now you have a backup of your original recovery.img in case you want to restore it.
- Installing CWM Recovery (REQUIRED FOR ROOTING!!)
14. Go to the CWMR Recovery's folder, then choose if you want the Standard CWM or the Touchscreen CWM and copy the recovery.img included to "C:\GooApple\MTK Rom Studio 1.1.77.146"
* Standard CWM is controlled by Volume up and down. Touchscreen CWM is controlled by both.
15. Open "Flash_tool.exe" from version "2.1134.00".
16. Click on Scatter-loading and browse to "MT6573_Android_scatter.txt" in MTK Rom Studio and open it. (Click OK on the popup)
17. Now make sure everything is unchecked EXCEPT "RECOVERY". (Don't forget that your phone should be turned off and unplugged.)
18. Now click on download and insert your USB cable. It should say OK at the end.
Now you have CWM Recovery installed.
- Rooting the phone
19. Start your phone and connect to USB Storage Mode.
20. Copy "Root_Superuser_3.1.3_Busybox_1.20.2-Update1-signed.zip" to the ROOT of your SDcard. And turn off USB Storage (but keep your USB in)
21. Now boot your phone into recovery mode. There are 2 methods, I prefer method #2 as it's more safe and works most often. (Someone's phone kept vibrating while doing method #1)
* Method #1:
- Shut off your phone (wait untill it vibrates to make sure it's completely off).
- Hold the "Volume +" button and the "Power" button.
- You now are in recovery or your phone keeps vibrating.
* Method #2:
- With your phone on, start "cmd.exe" as administrator on your PC.
- Type "cd C:\GooApple\ADB" (without the "") and press enter.
- Type "adb reboot recovery" (without the "") and press enter again.
- Your phone shall reboot in recovery.
22. In recovery, select "install zip from sdcard", then "choose zip from sdcard" and select "Root_Superuser_3.1.3_Busybox_1.20.2-Update1-signed.zip". Select "Yes - Install ..."
* Recovery Controls (Standard CWM)
Volume + = UP
Volume - = DOWN
Power = Select
Home = Go to +++++Go Back+++++
23. Once completed, select Go Back, and select wipe data/factory reset.
24. Now select "reboot system now".
And here we go... Your GooApple V5+ is Rooted !
Thanks again yuweng for the support !

How to Increase Internal Memory - INT2EXT method (ROOT required)
"INT2EXT on MT6575 / 77 for the extreme gamers !" for GooApple V5+ thanks to yuweng !
- NOTE: THE PHONE TENDS TO BE SLOWER AS IT HAS TO LOAD FROM THE SDCARD
Based on yuweng's tutorial : http://www.mediafire.com/view/?7zjz4onhos826bk
Download and/or install and extract these:
MiniTool Partition Wizard (Home edition) - http://www.partitionwizard.com/download.html
INT2EXT-mtd.7z (Includes install-recovery.sh) - http://www.mediafire.com/?16psto1xqw4b0s0
Notepad++ (To edit install-recovery.sh) - http://notepad-plus-plus.org/download/v6.2.3.html
ES File Explorer File Manager - https://play.google.com/store/apps/...sMSwxLDEsImNvbS5lc3Ryb25ncy5hbmRyb2lkLnBvcCJd
BACKUP YOUR GOOAPPLE V5+ WITH CWMR
1. First I installed and opened MiniTool Partition Wizard and mounten my SD card (32gb & Class10) with going in USB Storage Mode.
2. In MiniTool Partition Wizard, I selected my drive and resized it from 29gb to 26gb (FAT32).
3. Then I selected the remaining 2.5-3gb and created a new partition : Primary , Ext4 , 4kb. Don't forget to click Apply at the top left.
4. Then I extracted INT2EXT-mtd.7z and installed Notepad++.
5. With Notepad++ , I opened install-recovery.sh and changed unbind to bind in lines 61, 66, 71 and 98. Then saved it.
6. Now I copied the EDITED install-recovery.sh to the root of my /sdcard/ (Location when you open your phone).
7. Having ES File Explorer File Manager (EFEFM) installed, give it Root acces via the Settings at the bottom (check everything at root settings).
8. Next, select install-recovery.sh in EFEFM and copy it to /system/etc/ and give it full read/write/execute acces.
9. After this is done reboot your phone. For me, after the first boot it just shutted off. So then I had to power it on again and I had 2.6gb internal memory.
Hooooorah ! :good:
Thanks again yuweng for the files, info, tutorials and time !

Tips&Info
- Make 3 backups of your phone through CWM Recovery because some might get corrupt.
- Use Titanium Backup Pro or a similar tool to remove unused/chinese system apps.
- The MTK6575 can be compared to the PowerVR processor. So the PowerVR games work on the GooApple V5+.

Change BUILD.PROP for more compatibility of Apps&Games
Your phone is being recognized as a Android Alps phone which a lot of apps don't even recognize.
So the best thing you can do is change your "build.prop" a little to increase the compatibility.
For example, yesterday I bought N.O.V.A. 2 which says it's not compatible (but it is).
1. Open Root Explorer or something similar.
2. Go into /system/ folder. Make sure the folder is R/W.
3. Press and hold on build.prop then select "Open in Text Editor".
4. Next, change the following.
- ro.product.model=GT-I9000
- ro.product.brand=samsung
- ro.product.name=GT-I9000
- ro.product.device=GT-I9000
- ro.product.board=GT-I9000
- ro.product.manufacturer=samsung
5. Then go back and it will ask you to save it. Save it.
6. Now reboot your phone and try again with more compatibility !

GooApple V5+ Manual
Thanks to "Q" for looking up this valuable information !
How to take a screenshot:
Tap both the "Home"-button and "Power"-button simultaneous. If you have sounds activated, you'll hear a shutter sound.
How to force restart:
Deep at the bottom of the 3.5 headphone jack there is a restart-button. Use a small tool like a bent paperclip or toothpick to reach it.
You can use this restart-button if your phone freezes and can not be restarted using the normal power-button.
THIS IS A LIFESAVER !
Recovery-menu explained:
The Recovery-menu is a boot-menu that can be used to backup, restore, clean cache or change ROMs in your GooApple phone.
This menu can be either in English or Chinese and may vary slightly depending on what type of Recovery came pre-installed on your phone.
You can install a different Recovery-menu on your phone like CMWR / TWPR
To access the Recovery-menu:
- Turn off your phone.
- Press and hold the PLUS-button and POWER-button on your phone until you arrive at the recovery menu.
NOTE: Depending on ROM and Recovery-version, you may actually need to press MINUS-button and POWER-button to access the Recovery-menu
Factory-test-menu:
This can be used to test the hardware functionality of your phone.
To access the Factory-test-menu:
-Turn off your phone.
-Press and hold the PLUS-button and POWER-button on your phone then lose it and hold it again after the vibration.
NOTE: It doesn't always work so you really need the perfect timing.
Navigating the user-interface:
This menu you can close running apps on the background so pretty usefull sometimes.
- Double-tap the "Home"-button shows running/standby apps and possibility to close apps by long-pressing icons in deployed menu.
- Double-tap the "Home"-button at the unlock-screen will show you the music player and a button to quickly acces the camera.
- Hold the "Home"-button to acces Wallpaper and Settings faster.
- Pressing the "+"-button when using the camera will take a picture.
NOTE: Double tapping must have some kind of pace in pressing these 2. If you do it too fast, ut doesn't work.. but too slow, it doesnt work either, so it has to be right.
- "Long-pressing" an icon in the menu makes the icons jiggly so you can change the position of your icons by dragging them to a desired position or on another icon to create a folder.
- "Long-pressing" the MINUS-button can bring up a menu in some applications. - UNCONFIRMED
Trouble hanging up a phone-call?
- Holding the phone vertically during a call turns off the screen (if the light-sensor has been covered).
- Holding the phone horizontally for a few seconds, will turn the screen on again and display the "End call"-button.
NOTE: Make sure you never double-tap the "Home"-button during a call. It will minimize the calling session so you will still be calling in the background. So make sure you always press the "End call"-button.
Change user interface language
If you cleared user data when installing a new ROM, the phone is likely to boot up in Chinese. Follow these steps to change it back to English:
- Press the Settings-button (you can probably identify this by its icon).
- Select the 9th option (General)
- Select the 8th option (International)
- Select the 1st option (Select language)
- Select your language.
NOTE: If you want some influence of your native language, you can install MoreLocale2 from GooglePlayStore. Some apps will be in your native language.
How to change the IMEI-number:
To change the IMEI number, you most likely will have to use MTKdroidTools from MediaFire.com.
It has an option to change the IMEI number but for this, you will need:
- the ADB drivers to be installed.
- A new IMEI number with what you want to change the original one.
- Phone connected to your computer.
How to add more Ring, SMS, Notification - sounds on your GooApple:
- Connect the phone to a computer in USB Storage Mode.
- Create the following folders on your SD-card:
- Ringtones
- Alarms
- Notifications
- Move your own sounds into the appropriate folder.
- Adjust the sounds-settings on your phone here:
- Ring-tone: Settings>Audo profiles>General>Voice call ringtone
- SMS-tone: Settings>Auido profiles>General>Notification ringtone
- Alarm-tone: Enter your Clock-app and add a new alarm and you should be presented with ringtone-options.
How to remove the backcover and change the MicroSD:
You might want to remove the backcover to change the MicroSD card or maybe even to change the cover.
To remove the cover:
- Unscrew the 2 screws at the bottom of your phone. You need a special screwdriver for this.
- Slide the back cover up once the screws are removed.
To change the MicroSD:
- Having the cover removed, you will see the SD card to the left of the battery trapped in some aluminium cover.
- Slide the aluminium cover to the left and now you can remove the SD card.
To put the cover back on:
- Put the cover back in its place, then drag it down (instead of up to remove it).
- Put the 2 screws back

And can anyone with a GooApple V5+ please try this to fix the GPS signal?
1. Charge your phone completely (100%)
2. Download and install Mobileuncle MTK Tools from Google Play.
3. Go to Settings > Location Services and turn off everything here. Also turn off WiFi.
4. Now turn off your phone. Then turn it back on and enable WiFi.
5. At Settings > Location Services
- Enable : Use wireless networks.
- Enable : Use GPS satellites
- Enable : GPS EPO assistance -> Go into EPO Settings and check the EPO file info if it's downloaded, if not, make sure you're connected to the internet and uncheck/recheck Auto Download.
- Enable : A-GPS
6. Open Start Mobileuncle MTK Tools and go to Information and click on Full , then Cold and go back to Satellites.
7. Go outside/window/balcony and after a while, the red dots should become green.

They say it works for MTK 657x models but it doesn't work for me. I keep getting red dots instead of green.
Drivers
Hi,
My Gooapple V5+ arrived.
I'm quite lost since no manual inside and this is my first android.
Regarding the rooting issue, I first decided install drivers. As I read, the process is connecting USB to PC and wait for Windows to ask something and then navigate to MT6575 USB VCOM drivers forder.
However, Win7 recognized V5+ as an Android device and installed some drivers, including "My HTC" (?)(!)
Now I can access SD card and maybe something else (I have no idea what) but I can't connect to internet through USB
The big quiestion now for me, in order to root the phone, is how to install drivers properly, bcos we have:
drivers preloader MT65xx
Android ADB Interface
MT6575 USB VCOM drivers
usb_driver
usb_driver_MT65xx_Android_ZTE_v821
I have a Win7 x64 laptop
About the GPS, I have just attempt fix my possition with "MAPS", but despite I downloaded some file, I can't fix possition bcos I'm indoors now.
Thanks for any comments
I'm not sure how the USB thetering works but I'll look into it.
About the drivers. I do it like this: plug it in, then choose the DRIVERS folder and let it choose automaticly.
Android device is correct, but I haven't seen the HTC one though, I'd recommend uninstalling that one.
But really , it can do a lot if you just plug it in, let it search the driver automaticly (don't select any specific folder, just DRIVERS if you really need to).
Also the VCOM driver is more for when you're about to flash your recovery through SPFT which it will install automaticly.
If you need any "personal" help on rooting it, feel free to ask, I'll support you via skype/facebook/teamviewer.
And I too am using Win7 64bit
It seems that Win7 installs a Google pack of USB drivers when detects Android devices.
Maybe this one I found:
softpedia.com/get/MOBILES/Google/Google-USB-Driver-Revision4.
And bcos GooApple is not in the list, Win7 chooses HTC that has 6575 chip aswell.
I will try to uninstall "My HTC" but Windows prefer this to any in the DRIVERS folder, perhaps is more up-to-date.
Any way, automatic driver download/installing maybe problematic with this phone.
Thanks a lot for support. I will need some days to become familiar with the phone before the next level
Thank you, is a very useful guide ! :good:

Ehm it shouldn't say GooApple V5+ in device manager.
For me it says Android Phone > Android ADB Interface and when I turn on USB storage, I just get Portable Devices: G:\.
So yeah, strange it uses HTC. And sorry that I cannot explain properly how to install the drivers because I just installed a few drivers , uninstalled some and installed some other and it worked.
But the most important thing is that the VCOM driver is installed. Which will automaticly install once you try the *Read Back* method. OR this might work too:
Turn off your phone. Plugin the USB cable in your computer but not in the phone (yet).
Now hold the Volume + button and then insert the USB cable into your phone. I think now, it should install the VCOM drivers automaticly.
And no problem Anhuc ! I haven't had time to test some things as I'm in a period of getting a job for the rest of my life
Drivers Problem Fixed!!
Well, for some reason my V5+ only accept VCOM driver if press "+" when plug-in USB in phone OFF, as you suggested.
If connect USB to PC with phone "ON" it ONLY accepts Android ADB Composite Interface, as you said.
So thanks everybody for suggestions and comments. I thing the first challenge overcome :good:
PS:
About the HTC driver I had first, maybe it was bcos I had MOBILE-EDIT software, wich installs many drivers, so I had to remove it from ControlPanel/Pograms/Unistall
But after it, connected phone to PC and it installed automatically "My HTC" driver again
So removed driver from DeviceManager and also removed Google Android USB Package from PC execiting "pnputil.exe -e" in command prompt, to see the OEM# of package, then removed with "pnputil.exe -d Oem#.inf"
Seems extrange but works great. (see details here: technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/cc730875.aspx)
I have taken some screen shots of this in case someone need.
Hope may help people with persistent drivers....

Good to hear that Q and thanks for sharing the information on what was causing it !
It can always help someone else out who has the same issue.
Anyways, I guess you can get to the part of flashing the phone with CMWR right?
I suggest jus reading the first part of the Rooting untill installing CMW and start there as thats the basic thing you need to do as the files I uploaded already include the patched recovery.img.
To see some pictures, check this out : http://www.mediafire.com/view/?8mxvy0ey5yfdu59 page 16 thats basicly how to Download recovery.img to your phone. But always follow my tutorial or ask me to do it for you
GPS without signal
Yes, I downloaded averything from v5+ tutorial and carefully read and understood this excellent work.
However, manage GPS to work is my priority now.
Is there any light in the dark?
I tried and tried, downloaded EPO files, used MTK Tools and even installed an iGo My Way version compatible with Retina screen.
One hour in the field and only saw a little signal bar of one satellite (if it was a satellite) but no points (red or green) at all in MTK Tools.
Have someone seen at least a single pretty point in the grid?
Thanks for any help.

Ooh thanks for helping out.
I do get red dots yeah but they don't turn green :/
Things you could try is
Download GPS Status & Toolbox : Launch GPS Status & Toolbox. You'll see a compass and some other stats. Hit the menu button for more options.
Make sure you have an active data connection and go to "Manage A-GPS State". Then, tap the "Download" button in the menu that pops up. When it's done, exit the app.
And another thing that made me come closer was changing the gps.conf but I dont remember what tool to use. You can do it manually though. (It's located in system/etc)

I don't think so, you can still do it without losing everything.
Just flash the recovery.img, then install the rooting zip and you're good to go !
And if you need help rooting this baby, I can do it for you in 2 hours from now

But reset from 3.5mm jack and all ok again.
Will do another backup from factory setings, just in case...
what happens after installing CWM Recovery?
can work as normal with phone?
Thanks for 2h supporting

Well, something bad happened.
Afetr the backup opperation tha finished OK, it has a wrong behaviour with battery icon.
Sometimes show the pugged icon and others a ray inside.
When turn off, it finish ok and then vibrates, but a few seconds later the battery icon charging fills the scren (unplugged of course) and few seconds later disappears.
Not a big problem, but after it I tried a second backup after factory settings restore and this time when plug USB on phone while pressing "-" nothing happens. PC do nothing (not installing drivers as before) and flash_tool can't finish the last part of procedure.
I even used differnt cable but nothing. USB parameters are as suggested....
Please help!

Fixed!!
Nothing worked to make it responding to USB...
Cables ok, config of USB ok too....
Decided opening phone and release power from battery cables.
I have never did it before but succeed on it
Now repeated opperation and made a successful backup in factory settings
Again I had to reset from 3.5mm jack
All ok, no problems (perhaps battery icon, but not sure)
Will continue rooting later

ColorOS --- i'm hesitant to upload because it has few yet ignorable problems. it uses the GB/ICS's /sdcard0/external_sd approach to fetch and enum files... the effect is Oppo Music and Filemanager is failing to get the files (we can use different music player and filemanager). Also OTG storage mounts ok, but there's no easy way to properly unmount it (i.e. unmount via terminal) ... unlike LewaOS that there's an item in its "Storage" settings that can be used to properly/safely unmount the storage.
I will try again after two weeks...

ok sir... Im still waiting for my fuze...
Just bought a Fuze, and wondering if my unit is defective or it really has issues with the edges of the touch screen. Whenever I use Touchpal X, I have trouble pressing the "a" key. I need to press slightly between "a" and "s" to get it to register.
I have the same issue with some games, when tapping on the very edge of the screen wont register. I have show touches enabled, and it shows the white circle, but the game won't respond at all. Any ideas? I'm running rooted stock rom with gravity box. The only other module i'm using is root cloak for avabel online.
Anyone have similar problems?
EDIT: Found the cause. I had Pie Controls set to 15px so it was eating a lot of screen space for activation. I disabled Pie and it works fine now

I formatted my PC (due to virus) then my Backup for Cherry Mobile Fuze Q390 is lost.
Now my Q390 phone got corrupted and after formatting the phone Baseband is Unknown and IMEI is NULL. I need help by any chance any user with backup that I can use? I cannot write my IMEI because the phone its self has nothing to write on to. Phone is working can boot and etc except the baseband is gone and evidently no IMEI.

if you can get hold of a NVRAM partition from others phone (not necessarily Q390 - at least same SoC: MT6582), then you can flash it to your phone.
BUT, your phone will have the same IMEI as the source phone. So if you and source phone would use the same SP (Service Provider or network), and IF this SP is strict about cloned IMEIs, they could block this IMEI. Leaving both phones unusable to this network. So if you can get hold of NVRAM partition from somebody living abroad (i.e. foreigner), the better.
if you are rooted, and terminal (adb shell) savvy, you can write it it via dd, i.e.:
$ dd if=/path/of/nvram of=/dev/nvram
or you can flash it via SPFT memory write ("Window" menu -> "Write Memory").
1) Select "Write Memory" tab (after it is shown)
2) Select "EMMC" for the memory setting
3) Select/browse ("Open Raw Data") the NVRAM image for the "File Path"
4) "Begin Address (Hex)" = 0x1800000
5) "Container Length (Hex)" = 0x500000
6) Click "Write Memory"
7) Connect your phone to PC (must be turned off as you may already know)
The NVRAM image could be named as nvram.bin or something else. But it must be a raw image of NVRAM partition (/dev/nvram) from other phone. TWRP can do a backup of this partition by selecting it when you are about to perform TWRP backup.
If you want to temporarily restore your IMEI, you can try MTKDroidTools or Mobile Uncle Tools (apk)
LeWaOSV5.1 for CMFuze
- apps that show as 0.00kb in "All" and "Downloaded" are now shown ok
- added engineering mode to settings
- corrected some misspeling in english translation
- etc.

correct.
there's shouldn't be anything there...as it is not supposed to be a folder. for one, dd will not work in folder, so i really expect /dev/nvram to be not a folder, rather than a device file pointing to NVRAM partition (offset 0x1800000) of your Fuze's EMMC.
if you see /dev/nvram as a folder/directory (rather than a device file), then something's gone really wrong in your EMMC partitions.

Sir the multi touch for Fuze works well your device is not defective. You can't do multi touch if you press already on the left part for me it doesnt really makes sense why'd do that. Example you press arrow up button then you want to press A should you still use your right thumb well in fact the left thumb is already near it furthermore it doesnt affect when your playing games. Its just whenever your using the keyboard.

We say thank you for the much work what you put into it !! :jó:
I'm glad to see it helps you =)
Developing Linux and Windows versions of tool will be separated soon at 4pda. But I hope we'll keep publishing it together here after adding more features.
Kind dilnix, thank you it till now work with what you helped a lot. We would be glad if you would publish your work here in the additional ones because the 4pda-ra to register and to enter rather difficult if somebody does not can in Russian and he does not have a Russian keyboard. Excuse me for the bad English text. With thanks and gratitude!! :good:

Hello dilnix, I am sorry to bother you, but since I can not register in 4pda I ask you around here.
It is true that leeco has sent the source code of the x650 to a 4pda developer?.
A greeting.

No, it's not true. Nobody from 4PDA mentioned about that. If somebody got source code and keeping silent it's not good and shame on them but it's all I know.
I have success to install 5.9.025s china roms then use ML2 debloat apps. It works well and i have hide the launcher just like the tutorial. And then, when im playing games. I realize that the super manager (phone manager) has gone. Could you put back the phone manager please or dont include it in the option. Because with phone manager, the phone can enter the high performance mode so the game will not laggy. Im really disappointed because the super manager has gone. Please help.

Wiko Sunny 3 rooting (attempt) and "un-big-tech"-ing

I try to share my experience about this cheap phone (bought I think for 45€ : was the cheapest of the hypermarket, around 2019).
Here are some specs : https://www.gsmarena.com/wiko_sunny3-9733.php
First of all, this is a SPD (Spreadtrum) based device, not MTK (Mediatek). (Surely, it would have been easier on an MTK Wiko like the Jerry...)
My goal was to get root access and finally try to install a big-tech free system alternative.
I confess, I spent about one month on it. Here are my findings and the final result I could achieve.
Long story short : I could not get root (I'll explain it below). But I could "un-google" it as much as it is possible without breaking anything essential.
Here is the story and it's lessons learned, in a hopefully logical order.
1. Tried all (really all!) available "out of the box" rooting apps without any result.
2. However there is an "allow unlock bootloader" switch in the "developper settings" (once taped a couple of times on the "build" of the system menu...)
there was no way to really "unlock" it using any appliable fastboot command (tried really everything).
3. Magisk (latest or any other) could not patch the boot.img (or recovery.img).
As root access means the ability to get at some point a writable filesystem, and as this is mounted by boot/recovery.img, this is the key process here.
4. So I went to linux to modify them : tried again all dedicated tools to unpack, edit and repack the boot and recovery.img.
mkbootimg/unpacbootimg, abootimg, but it turns out, they don't repack the files in an acceptable way for this system.
Independently from change made or not (in some .rc file inside the ramdisk, initrd), those usual dedicated tools just cannot repack the file correctly, at least for this device.
Lastly, when I tried bootimg.exe (for windows) of "cofface" (https://github.com/cofface/android_bootimg/blob/master/bootimg.exe)
I could find out that it extracted an other file that abootimg and others was not even aware of : dt_image (binary having an SPRD header).
And this (avesome) tool is able to repack it with it.
But now, the new boot.img was 12Mo and not 36Mo as before. Turns out there is a huge empty (00 bytes) overlay, and a vbmeta (AVB) signature, somewhere at a precise place and at the end of the file.
So I completed and patched the file by a hex editor, to make it the same as the original one. (There were also some 2 "minor" diffs at the beginning of the file that I tried every combination with to make the device boot with it. No way.
I believe now, fdl2-sign.bin, one of the two mandatory required files to flash anything on the device (that gets allways flashed first), checks the signature of boot.img (and recovery.img), so a modification of these would need a brand new signature. (Tell me if I'm wrong: I'm not a pro) And I gave up at this point.
5. Before (understanding the above), I tried also by just changing system/vendor to make root tools available :
Mounted on Linux : strangely, when the filesystem was rebuilt by "make_ext4fs" the flashing crashed, but just unmounting it and then "img2simg" to get the android "spars" format, worked fine (despite for ex. the record of the mountpoint inside the file).
I tried to add all the necessary files (su, busybox, etc.) to "system "and "vendor"... retoutching everythig back to original time stamps, etc.etc.
but the loaded system denies access to all "new" files (and also to some others). Then I tried to change some "policies" files in /etc/selinux (like plat_sepolicy.cil), only trying to get how it works (I added some lines about my files taking as example a well authorized binary)... if ever the added binaries could be accessed even on a -ro filesystem. But nothing changed.
All file added or modified, such as a new bootanimation.zip, becomes "access denied" as well, despite adding them to policies files.
Same for some "new" sounds to media folder : they will be listed but not played (so you only get silenced wake-up instead .
6. After that I decided to un "big-tech"(BT) everything and replace as much (BT tracked) functions as possible by "clean" FOSS apps from F-Droid.
And this, at my surprise, I could get it through 100% (I believe).
The idea in short :
1 - make a clean firmware flush (perhaps with already reduced preinstalled apps)
2 - uninstall/deactivate on the device anything you want and can, replace needed default apps (by FOSS equivalent), especially the launcher(wiko app starter).
3 - edit system and vendor (on linux), delete unwanted apps (making according changes on some .xml control files doesn't change anything and only might cause problems: just deleting the packages seems enough here)
4 - then reflash only the modified system and vendor (reboot and see)
Now, for those who (I would like to say "hate" BT enough to accept loosing the shiny comfort they offer, but lets say) want to get rid of preinstalled privacy breaking BT apps, here is the howto : (with explanation for also the novice)
a) First, download the latest firmware update :
Wiko Mobile : Customer Area / Connection.
customer-world.wikomobile.com
b) Launch the app and push the start flushing button (play button). This will unpack the boundled .pac file into a temporary directory (into the app folder's "ImageFiles\_DownloadFilesE10_2C10D_0" : the suffix changes at each startup. Save this folder to somewhere else (because quiting the app will erase it).
c) Now you need to launch a linux OS, (that can of course access the saved rom files) mainly to mount and modify system.img and vendor.img.
I will detail this for the novice.
Basically, open any teminal, then install if its not yet done, the following needed tools :
sudo apt-get install e2fsprogs
sudo apt-get install android-tools-fsutils
to use Midnight Commander which will save you a lot of time, make also a
sudo apt-get install mc
Then "sudo mc".
Once in MC, do Ctrl+o to switch (back and forth) to command line
d) Uncompress the system+vendor image files, mount, modify, then umount and recompress them :
Uncompress by : "simg2img vendor.img vendor-whatever.img" (same with system.img)
Then (create some "sys", "ven" folders) and : "mount system-whateweryoucalledit.img sys -rw" (thats all, same for vendor).
It turns out, you can just easyly erase some apps (but not anything!) and they just won't be installed, or will "disappear" if they were...
You can delete already from system: in "app" and "priv-app" folders any Facebook related app or service, plus Youtube, Chrome, Gmail... Duo, Messages, TTS, Calendar, Maps. From vendor: Photos, Music, Contact (and also Chrome vendor overlays). Normally you could only deactivate them from the device, but that way they won't be present at all.
You can also edit /etc/prop.default, as follows, but honestly, I did not recognized anything really working, except the sys.usb config and mock.location (allowing fake gps position app).
ro.secure=0 ---> these 2 doesn't seem to do anything without a patched boot.img
security.perf_harden=0
ro.adb.secure=1 ---> needed, otherwise you won't get adb access dialog
ro.allow.mock.location=1 ---> allows fake gps app
ro.debuggable=0 ---> if 1: will just crash "developper settings" because of its defaults
persist.sys.usb.config=none ---> you will be free to set it
Do not try to "ro.adb.secure=0" because you just won't get confirmation box for trusted adb connection attempts and they just won't work!
Same, don't be tempted by "ro.debuggable=1" bacause you will not even be able to access "developper options" any more as its defaults will conflict with this setting an it will just crash over and over. I did it, I payed the price to start it over again...
Now, it seems, ro.secure=0 and security.perf_harden=0 does just nothing as well, without being able to modify boot.img first.
Changing eventually "ro.build.type=user" (in system/build.prop or anywhere else) to "eng" or to "userdebug" makes just the flashing operation to crash. (same by patching boot/recovery.img in hex mode (which looked attractive at first sight) but led to flush crash as well, mainly for the vbmeta thing I tried to describe above.
When finished, just "umount sys" and "umount ven"
Then recompress the files by "img2simg vendor-whatever.img vendor.img" (same with system).
(This first amputation and further, could be done perhaps later all at once, but thats how I did. Of course its about to avoid first installations but without breaking the setup process.)
e) Flash the new firmware to the device, replacing system and vendor.img by the modified files :
The modified files shouldn't be bigger than the original ones, at least not bigger than their size stated (in Mb) in the k120.xml (system:1400,vendor:300) but there is no reason anyway as after my experience all added files will become "access denied". (Should they become bigger than that you will have to change these values in k120.xml and re-pac them (using spd research tool, that will update k120.xml) before using them again, otherwise the flashing will fail.)
So now, get ready for the flashing:
Un mount the back cover of your Wiko Sunny 3, remove for a few seconds the battery, then replace it.
Now, here is something I had to figure out myself because there isn't anywhere a clear description of it, and this is foundamental to be able to flash :
First thing to do is to launch your flashing software, choose the pac file if necessary and push the action button to get ready for the device's connection.
You can wait some time, while the app unpacks the included .pac file. (spd factory/research tools lets you choose your pac file, the one downloaded refers to it only through its .ini file).
So pushing the "start flashing" still nothing happens, the flashing app (unpacks the pac file and) just waits for the devive to connect... This can last forever, don't worry.
Now, to be able to connect de device in service/flashing mode, it should NOT go into charging mode when you connect it.
Thats why, you have to connect the (computer) USB slot by pressing continuosly volume up on the device (after havig removed and reinserted the battery) AND wait until the app detects it and starts the transfer. Do not release the volume-up until it gets at least 3-4%. (Many guides speak about 3 sec or so, the only thing accurate is that the app starts effectively the transfer.) If you release it too quick, the phone goes into charging mode and the COM port used to flash closes, and you will need to repeat the operation.
(And of course you need all required drivers loaded previously. The driver for flashing is called SPRD or SPD Driver R4.20.4201: seems the latest)
If successful, the device gets rebooted.
---------
Here I'd like to ask some pros of XDA : what signal boots the device after flashing? Can it be reproduced without flashing? In other words, can we start/boot an extincted device by USB signal? If yes, how ?
---------
As the first-time setup launches, just decline/skip ewerything, most of all the final wiko/vendor offer (this keeps you safe from vendor commercial services). Just get to the home screen.
See what you have got.
f) Now, setup your anti big-tech privacy free environment. For example, deactivate google play including its service. (Yes, "big-tech haters" don't rely on this ;-)
To know where are the spies, I installed TrackerControl (version 2022.02.10 from F-droid) which gives enough info on that even without root. You will be surprised. There are "feedbacks" to google, to the vendor, and also to Microsoft, even without launching anything, just the wifi on. Even the caller app has trackers...
The best thing is that this (GPL) app lets you know what package causes the leak. You can just write them down, for later deletion.
It turns out, I could delete all of them (mainly from system.img, monted again on Linux) without that anything breaks.
I replaced the caller/dialer, calender, contact, everything, by new default apps. Replaced the Wiko launcher by the Fairphone launcher (from F-Droid).
I installed ungoogled chromium from https://github.com/wchen342/ungoogled-chromium-android/releases (chrome public). (Strangely could not install other browsers!). I replaced Google TTS by "eSpeak NG" (the final config is a little bit tough : have to download "espeak-ng-data" (voices) and push it to the "sdcard" then, slowly, it finds it and it works. (Well, ok, its not the fine google tts thats far the best actually, but its still a tts...) And yes, there is still the keyboard to tap keywords to look for. ;-)
g) When done, take and mount again the system.img file (you flashed) and take out what (following the list of tracker apps found by "TrackerControl", which are mainly (for me) : (for howto, see d) above)
/system/priv-app/phonesky // playstore : com.android.vending
/system/priv-app/GoogleDialerGo // contains trackers!
/system/priv-app/GmsCore // googleplayservices (yes it works without it)
/system/priv-app/WIKOSetupWizard
/system/priv-app/WIKOLauncher // easyly replaced (by Fairphone's 1/2/3)
/system/priv-app/WIKOInstaller
/system/priv-app/AppCloud // wiko appstarter (77 trackers)
/system/priv-app/SearchSpeachService // (google) tracker by definition
/system/priv-app/AntitheftPlugin
can be removed as well (and still some others, but its more wise to stop here, till it still works ;-)
NB : The 3 "Vital-app", probably commercial boudles, must be really present but they can be uninstalled cleanly (weather, smart-assistance, gaming).
Finally, enjoy your non-rooted, but privacy tuned Wiko Sunny 3, and install clean FOSS apps from F-Droid (or from elswhere).
One more thing: Its not because an app is "free and open source" that it won't track you : choose your apps carefully, observing all permissions they ask for.
For example, there isn't much acceptable explanation for a calculator to claim "full network access" or a game to be "launched at startup" or get "system configuration" rights.
And sadly, as we still do not have root access on this device, there isn't much control available on apps, permissions, network or system. But it is possible now to free it from big-tech trackers, as much as possible.
Of course, as usually in these cases, I cannot guarantie anything. It just worked for me like that (reproduced several times), and I think there is no reason that for anybody else it would produce a differet outcome.
Your comments are allways welcome.
