Hi,
I am pretty new to Android, bought my Asus TF300T a few weeks ago. I live in Japan so got mine here. Unfortunately there is no Jelly Bean update for this. I want it though so have been trying to find how to do it, leading me to the Asus website, then unlock tool, and the Jelly Bean file download-WW.
I have now unlocked, but don't understand how to install the Jelly Bean update at this point. Can anyone help please?

Hey folks..
i bought a TF300T a couple of weeks ago which i updated to Jelly bean so i was not able to root it ..
Now i got it switched to a new tablet because it was " DOA ".. so that was pretty lucky..
Now i have the TF300T with ICS and the Jelly bean update waiting for me..
Anyhow, this time i want to root this thing and install custom roms on it..
Problem is i cant find a guide nor anything on how to root it and update it to jelly bean and still keep root / CWM..
the only guide i found was one done with the US update..
Can anyone give me a guideline to where i should start?
EDIT: Do i have to unlock my bootloader to root?

Ok, When you say that you can't find anything on how to root, or guidelines and etc...
It's false, cause I think that you haven't really search on this specific forum.
On first, click on my sig (the Index for the TF300T/TG) and you will find all you need.
and finally you need to search and read a little. It's easy to post a question, you wait that a kindly person could give you some answer.
if you want to root without JB, don't open your wifi, for stop update by OTA
After unlock your tf300
and use NVFLASH on final

Unfortunately, you can't re-lock your bootloader, as far as I know. So your choice is either upgrade to the Asus official Jelly Bean the hard way or flash a custom rom.
To upgrade to Asus official JB:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1845377
If you do upgrade to Asus JB manually, beware that you can't flash any other ROM aside from stock-based because of changes in the bootloader, so once you do upgrade you're limited to flashing 4 ROMs, i.e. CleanROM, Jelly Bean Hydro, and 2 other ROMs that I cant remember off the top of my head.
Or, you could flash Cyanogen Mod 10 (and ROMs based off of AOSP) without upgrading to the ASUS official JB, in which case you get to experience JB without changing your bootloader. Do this if you're not going to miss ASUS-specific apps. Here's the link to CM10 nightly build:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1845200
I recommend you go through this thread as well:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1697227
Hope that helps bro.
And the next time, give a good title for your OP as ' i want to upgrade to JB' or something else, not your FB or People title who say nothing.
It will be better to give you a more appropriate help
Thanks in advance
yes thanks for the help im now on the asus jelly bean and will now look to installing a custom rom on there to get the best out of my device, and yes I must admit my title is pretty ****e and need to think before posting it lol

And do you know that you have one button :
EDIT/DELETE (down - to the right) => click
and you will see an another screen, and a another button : Go advanced (down - to the right, always) => click
a another screen, and on this screen, you can change the title of your OP
It's easy, isn't it ?

Please update if you come across a good set of instructions / tools.

Sorry I can't answer your question, but I hope you can answer mine - what Xoom model do you have? I have the UK Xoom 2 ME MZ607 and can't find anything about running Jelly Bean, it's @ ICS 4.0.4.
Are you sure about yours running stock JB, and if so can you give me some more details?
hi dumpystig
Here is info on my Xoom 10.1 Early Model UK wifi
MZ604, Android Version reverted back to 4.0.4 from 4.2.2
Build Number 1.7.1-45
Kernel 2.6.39.4.00033
I had 4.2.2 running, and i put back to stock rom for sale
but that did not happen, so left at 4.0.4
I since purchased a Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1" Wifi
Hope that clears anything..

Hi,
its been long since I visited here last time.
I am thinking to buy two Galaxy Alpha phones for my kids. They are 9 and 10. They would be using message apps and some game apps on their phone mainly, apart from as a phone.
Problem is that the Android version is still Jelly bean and there is no way to upgrade to newer version. Yes I could provably do flash roms, but it has been long time since I flashed custom roms and I would not want to do it as it would be my kids.
I know that Google stopped security patch update for Jelly Bean. Is there any drawback apart from it? Would Galaxy Alpha with Jelly Bean be still usable? I am concern about not being able to use message apps and some game apps on Jelly Bean.
Would anyone advice me please?
Cheers,
