New charging port - HTC Sensation

I've searched and searched but can't seem to find a guide or video on how to change the charging port for sensation. My port is having issues and I really don't want to return it for repairs . I've ordered the part but can not find a guide that is device specific. Does ANYONE know of a instructional guide or better even video that I can use to achieve this? Or would I be better off taking it to a shop. Local shop wants 65 dollars for labor even though I will have my own part. . Seems steep too me. I know I could do this with appropriate guide. Please if anyone can help I will much appreciate it. Also advice is welcome. Please respond. Thank you. I can still charge after a few trys it looks as if part in port is bent upwards. Wonder if I can gently try to bend back in place?

While I don't have experience in changing the USB port on this device, I do have experience in attempting to do the HTC hd2. My advice is bite the bullet and just pay for the repair. Unless you are a soldering god you will ruin the phone. I over soldered my hd2 and fried the board altogether. it is not easy at all, and you will need the proper solder and a very very tiny tip to do it. You could always try to bend it back if you can see the issue but be very very very gentle with it. I had to order a new part again before I even got to the soldering poor hd2

Thanks so much for the advice! Yeah after searching I guess I'm even kinda lucky to find someone in my town who will do the job. Plus side is he said it will be finished in 3 hours. So thanks for sharing your story. You just helped me make up my mind . I'll just bring the part over to him and pray he knows what he's doing! What a pain! The part was only 2 dollars online! But it's the labor that gets ya. Thanks so much for your response!

[Q] Inspire Digitizer Replacement

Got an inspire for an amazing price. (less than 200).
But it has a crack in the digitizer, I intend on fixing it for 40-80 dollars.
I've done this several times with iphones and arias, but I heard the Inspire is really easy to screw up and crack the screen (lcd)
Has anyone attempted digitizer replacement? Any instruction guides?
I looked on youtube but no one actually does it, they just comment on how it could be done.
All help is appreciated.
Thanks
Did you check if anyone has done it for a desire HD?

wow too much stuff to do but interesting lol, would try just for fun if my phone was not so expensive LOL!!!
I'll try it myself and make a video for the community.
It looks pretty complicated and involved, but fortunately I'm patient and the playstation network is still down, which means I have a lot of time.
If I can do it myself its $40 if not, its $145 for HTC or A person I know that'll do it for 80 and up.
Just finished doing this procedure. Never try it.... just send the phone to HTC. The good thing is I learned that I will never drop this phone for fear of having to do this again

Lol I used that same video as a guide just to remove the back cover housing and lemme tell you...just taking off the GPS cover alone was not fun. Then again I didn't have the tools that the woman had except for the provided screw driver...I had to improvise and use my nail manicure kit ^_^ Twas all worth it in the end tho. I bought the Desire HD backing to replace the AT&T one and it looks sooo much better.
I'm usually comfortable disassembling phones because I used to replace blackberry screens all the time but the Inspire makes disassembling look like dissecting human organs @[email protected] lol I'm sorry...was that too much?

got a free G2x with water damage.

I got a free G2x from a buddy. phone's water damage stickers are red but he cant remember it ever getting soaked in water. He found the phone dead and then we noticed the stickers. the phone wont turn on and since I know LG or T-Mobile wont exchange it I figured id try to repair it myself. A friend told me that I should open it and clean the corrosion with some rubbing alcohol but I cant find any help online? Has anybody tried to do that to G2x or any phone for that matter? Any help would be appreciated
The phone is most likely dead..
I know I'm going to hear some **** for what I'm about to say but when has that ever stopped me.
I'm not going to give you specifics or tell you what I would do but those water damage indicators can be replaced. You can find them multiple places online. After you replace them, its up to you to decide what to do.
Have a good day.

Yup, that's how I imagined the comments would look like. I'm just glad you beat them to it.
By the way, I'm glad I kept the G2X. Right now I'm browsing the XDA forum and playing Riptide at the same time. I do have to pause the game every once in a while though.

lol I know right... That riptide is the ****. Graphics are amazing on that game. I really think the tegra is a great cpu/gpu combo. Honestly looking at the photon @ 1ghz tegra and a skin vs the htc 3d and its 1.2 snapdragon with a skin, the photon just seems to out perform it in anything.
You could shed more light as you got rid of sense on the sensation. So both stock say bump the tegra to 1.2ghz, which one performs the best? At the same clock speed?

If you'd like to take the honest way out, there is a complete photo disassembly guide here.
Riptide is way cool on my 55" Sony. I gotta get a longer HDMI cable though, 6 foot ain't long enough.
P.S. Anyone who would receive a damaged phone for free then conceal the damage and attempt to return the phone for a new one is a thief pure and simple. If there were any justice at all those actions would result in prosecution and incarceration.
Perhaps you should make your way to a public square where you can smash the windows out of a T-Mobile store and just take whatever you want. After all, those rich bastards deserve it don't they?
We are doomed.

Not to be an ass, but isn't LG a thief? They sold us a phone with software that is horrible. Some of us who rely on our phones for simple task such as an alarm are late for work when the phone freezes. T-Mobile sold most of us a so called unlimited plan, but we get data throttled. T-Mobile claims 21+mbps, but no one has seen speeds anywhere close to that. I guess everyone is a thief. To each his own.

I agree, T-Mo has been less than honest with us. They should suffer the consequences of that breach of trust.
Not only will stealing from T-Mo make it harder and more expensive on the rest of us, but also the simple truth is... two wrongs don't make a right.

You're definitely right about two wrongs don't make it right, but I highly doubt that T-Mobile will buckle down that much on phones getting replaced especially since they know that the G2x has ton of software issues. The best thing T-Mobile and LG can do is to just make it right. It wasn't for the devs on XDA then we'd be ass'd out.

I cut a paper towel and super glue for replacement water damage stickers. They are all in the phone so you have to take it all apart to get to them all...
Also put it in a bag of rice.

All Tmobile does is looks at the sticker under the battery needed for a swap for a refurb. They all get thrown in a bunch and sent back to LG.
As long as it is visibly not RED, you'll be fine.
Sad part is one of us will probably end up with it, lol.

Am I screwed?

I dropped my Sensation 2-feet high with it's "Protective case"
And my whole screen shattered.
I didn't get insurance... am I screwed?
EDIT: It still run's perfectly!
You will need to replace the digitizer/screen. You can find them online

Think you need to get a new screen and a good internet guide to screen replacement, is not too difficult on most phones but haven't tried on this one yet so couldn't say for definate

Ive been in this phone a few times now and compared to other htc phones (Im looking at you HD2) this thing is a DREAM (not a G1) to repair. very simple to open, very easy to seperate the lcd from the digi, nothing really hiding to surprise you.
as long as you take it slow and pay attention to what you're doing you should be fine.
if you get to a point where you think you may damage something do a local search for "CPR Cell Phone Repair" and they can help you out. there's a decent chance there is one in your area, and if not you can always mail it to them
oh man just happend to me about a month ago!!
it is a new phone i had to wait till i get some of the repair shop order it for me online and fix it.
please be advaised dont think it is an easy Job, i really had bad time with the service and i returend the phone for almost 3 times to fix the screen!!!
be aware of the senstive issue that might come up from installing new digitizer/screen
i really advise you to go to the best repair shop in your area or HTC repair center will be better for sure even if it will cost you.
at least you have allot options to repair your phone unlike me, you just need to think about it.
goood luck

i dont advise doing that is not an easy JOB specailly for the lower part of the screen there is a cable and it is diffcult to be connected as the repair man said.
this will lead to a senstive issues regarding the Ring lock and other unresponsive screen issues.
Aww man that's messed up, I have that same case, hopefully my clumsy ass don't drop mine on the ground..

Broken Sensation Question

Alright, so I got a Sensation from a friend today that has a smashed screen and a broken back from being thrown at the ground. I was wondering if any one knows how to check if the board is still good? It won't vibrate so I'm guessing that means its broken. If the LCD and digitizer aren't attached will the phone even power on? I also tried plugging it into the wall charger and nothing happens. Any advice? Do you guys think its broken? Thanks!
Here is a picture of the damage, kinda shows how hard it was thrown...

Take it apart and take a good look, that's the best advice I can give. Replace the LCD (if needed) and the digitizer if the board and components look alright.

The screens the difficult part , the housing will only cost you 12 bucks off eBay. Well if you replaced the screen and housing and it looked and worked ok, you could probably get 200 for it on eBay or the forums here. So do the math and see if you'll break even
