Got an inspire for an amazing price. (less than 200).
But it has a crack in the digitizer, I intend on fixing it for 40-80 dollars.
I've done this several times with iphones and arias, but I heard the Inspire is really easy to screw up and crack the screen (lcd)
Has anyone attempted digitizer replacement? Any instruction guides?
I looked on youtube but no one actually does it, they just comment on how it could be done.
All help is appreciated.
Thanks
Did you check if anyone has done it for a desire HD?

wow too much stuff to do but interesting lol, would try just for fun if my phone was not so expensive LOL!!!
I'll try it myself and make a video for the community.
It looks pretty complicated and involved, but fortunately I'm patient and the playstation network is still down, which means I have a lot of time.
If I can do it myself its $40 if not, its $145 for HTC or A person I know that'll do it for 80 and up.
Just finished doing this procedure. Never try it.... just send the phone to HTC. The good thing is I learned that I will never drop this phone for fear of having to do this again

Lol just saw the vid. Man that voice was getting on my nerves. I think i am going to have nightmares .

Lol I used that same video as a guide just to remove the back cover housing and lemme tell you...just taking off the GPS cover alone was not fun. Then again I didn't have the tools that the woman had except for the provided screw driver...I had to improvise and use my nail manicure kit ^_^ Twas all worth it in the end tho. I bought the Desire HD backing to replace the AT&T one and it looks sooo much better.
I'm usually comfortable disassembling phones because I used to replace blackberry screens all the time but the Inspire makes disassembling look like dissecting human organs @[email protected] lol I'm sorry...was that too much?

I dropped my Sensation 2-feet high with it's "Protective case"
And my whole screen shattered.
I didn't get insurance... am I screwed?
EDIT: It still run's perfectly!
You will need to replace the digitizer/screen. You can find them online
¤Violets are red,
Roses are blue,
Wait, what?
I have no idea what I'm saying,
But you lost the game¤
Damn, sorry to see this. I feel your pain. So much for protection. It can be fixed though. Good luck with the repair.
You say it still runs perfectly? Be careful you don't slice your fingertip off! :-(

Think you need to get a new screen and a good internet guide to screen replacement, is not too difficult on most phones but haven't tried on this one yet so couldn't say for definate

Ive been in this phone a few times now and compared to other htc phones (Im looking at you HD2) this thing is a DREAM (not a G1) to repair. very simple to open, very easy to seperate the lcd from the digi, nothing really hiding to surprise you.
as long as you take it slow and pay attention to what you're doing you should be fine.
if you get to a point where you think you may damage something do a local search for "CPR Cell Phone Repair" and they can help you out. there's a decent chance there is one in your area, and if not you can always mail it to them
oh man just happend to me about a month ago!!
it is a new phone i had to wait till i get some of the repair shop order it for me online and fix it.
please be advaised dont think it is an easy Job, i really had bad time with the service and i returend the phone for almost 3 times to fix the screen!!!
be aware of the senstive issue that might come up from installing new digitizer/screen
i really advise you to go to the best repair shop in your area or HTC repair center will be better for sure even if it will cost you.
at least you have allot options to repair your phone unlike me, you just need to think about it.
goood luck

i dont advise doing that is not an easy JOB specailly for the lower part of the screen there is a cable and it is diffcult to be connected as the repair man said.
this will lead to a senstive issues regarding the Ring lock and other unresponsive screen issues.
Aww man that's messed up, I have that same case, hopefully my clumsy ass don't drop mine on the ground..
Ive got a galaxy s II. Sat on it the other day and the bottom section of the screen went dead and black and theres a tiny crack you can see at certain angles in what looks like the screen not the gorilla glass.
Anywho, I want to replace the screen or whatevers broken, any ideas ? There are replacement screens but I doubt there the lovely samsung amoled super plus jobbie, anyone know where I can get a genuine replacement from ?
Cheers

This is the cheapest one I can find. If you buy from anywhere else, make sure its oem. As for instructions, youtube has a few videos. Let me know if you get t done.

Alright, so I got a Sensation from a friend today that has a smashed screen and a broken back from being thrown at the ground. I was wondering if any one knows how to check if the board is still good? It won't vibrate so I'm guessing that means its broken. If the LCD and digitizer aren't attached will the phone even power on? I also tried plugging it into the wall charger and nothing happens. Any advice? Do you guys think its broken? Thanks!
Here is a picture of the damage, kinda shows how hard it was thrown...

Take it apart and take a good look, that's the best advice I can give. Replace the LCD (if needed) and the digitizer if the board and components look alright.

The screens the difficult part , the housing will only cost you 12 bucks off eBay. Well if you replaced the screen and housing and it looked and worked ok, you could probably get 200 for it on eBay or the forums here. So do the math and see if you'll break even

I'd give it a try, I paid 500 for my sensation its very worth it if you can fix it. Parts are not too expensive. I say go for it! Don't sink too much into it incase it can't be fixed but do give it a try! Man your friend needs anger management if he does this stuff to his devices, haha lol!
Good luck let us know how it goes ok?

I really like the phone, and I really don't want to trash it. When he told me what he did to it I was shocked and thought the are thing. I am going to order some parts this next week and I will post back with findings.

better you buy a new one, brand new unlocked sensation here cost $360
If you do try to fix it, report back on the process/success, would be interesting to know how it goes

You could try to boot into bootloader and see if fastboot works

I've searched and searched but can't seem to find a guide or video on how to change the charging port for sensation. My port is having issues and I really don't want to return it for repairs . I've ordered the part but can not find a guide that is device specific. Does ANYONE know of a instructional guide or better even video that I can use to achieve this? Or would I be better off taking it to a shop. Local shop wants 65 dollars for labor even though I will have my own part. . Seems steep too me. I know I could do this with appropriate guide. Please if anyone can help I will much appreciate it. Also advice is welcome. Please respond. Thank you. I can still charge after a few trys it looks as if part in port is bent upwards. Wonder if I can gently try to bend back in place?

While I don't have experience in changing the USB port on this device, I do have experience in attempting to do the HTC hd2. My advice is bite the bullet and just pay for the repair. Unless you are a soldering god you will ruin the phone. I over soldered my hd2 and fried the board altogether. it is not easy at all, and you will need the proper solder and a very very tiny tip to do it. You could always try to bend it back if you can see the issue but be very very very gentle with it. I had to order a new part again before I even got to the soldering poor hd2

Thanks so much for the advice! Yeah after searching I guess I'm even kinda lucky to find someone in my town who will do the job. Plus side is he said it will be finished in 3 hours. So thanks for sharing your story. You just helped me make up my mind . I'll just bring the part over to him and pray he knows what he's doing! What a pain! The part was only 2 dollars online! But it's the labor that gets ya. Thanks so much for your response!
