[Q] Where are widgets stored? - AT&T, Rogers HTC One X, Telstra One XL

My goal is to import widgets from an AOSP ROM. I have learned how to find and import application .apk files, but where in a ROM zip are widget files located?
The specific widgets I am referring to are the Analog and Digital clock widgets, for Nova launcher, taken from a CM9/CM10 zip. I figured that the location may be universal, though.
Thanks in advance for any answers! :highfive:

[Widgets] Weather

So HTC came down on Weather Widgets for looking too much like the original HTC flip clock, and have since released an update that removes said clock, or at least changes the graphics.
Now, I want to flash cyanogens latest, but I don't want to lose my favorite clock widget. I have backed it up using Titanium Backup, is that enough?
I'm an Android newbie and I've never flashed/wiped a device before so I have no idea what Titanium really does, but I assume I can install all programs directly from Titanium/SD Card after Flash, without having to worry about losing my flip clock?
Thanks everyone!
In order to save the HTC style clock widget just back up the folder "prettyweather-googlecode-com" thats where Weather Widgets stores it's skins. Then just put it back on after you flash CyanogenMod.

Thanks for the quick reply!
That folder is stored on my SD card, flashing a mod doesn't affect the SD card does it? So I should be safe?
Absolutely, I just flashed Cyanogen and my flip clock is fine (I also use Weather Widgets.) When you flash a ROM it won't erase anything on your SD card.
Beautiful! Thanks for the help

That's just your opinion and one with which I disagree.
When I had the old version of weather widget I downloaded the default skin with the skin downloader just so I could switch back to it when I was trying a load of others out. If you have that, it works on the new version (or PM me and I might be able to help )

can you help me on this. I've downloaded weather widgets from the market but everytime i put it on my home screen i just see the weather and temp readings. i go to the settings and downloaded some skins like the h7c coz i really like the flip clock (htc style) but then the clock preferences is greyed out. im coming from htc hero and i really like the clock with weather integrated and i want this also in my nexus even if it is just an imitation but i don't know how. Am i missing something?
Hi Guys,
sorry for resurrecting such an old post, but has anybody the .apk for Weather Widgets (yr.no)? I can't find it on the Market (it was still there a few weeks ago). It was the only app which got my hometown correctly.
I'm talking about this one: http://www.androidzoom.com/android_applications/news_and_weather/weather-widgets_ljka.html

Removing System Widgets from Android Phone

Hello everyone,
Just wondering if anybody here knows how to remove system widgets from an android phone. You know the widgets that come with android OS.
I hope it is possible. Thank you.
\system\app
Remove what you do not need.
most of the system widgets are built into applications that comes with. For instance, having the Home Launcher also gives you search bar. Settings.apk includes the Power Control widget and so on.
In all, it will be a daunting task to remove all system widgets and probably not worth it.

If you remove the widget apks from the system/app folder you are left with phantom widgets in the place widget list. Has anybody found how to remove these?

Folder Icons?????

Ok so you know how you can add a folder to your main screens, and then put other app icons in there. Well the folder is a stock manilla folder and i was wondering how we can change that icon to a folder icon of my choice. If anyone know how please let me know. Thanks
I know it's possible with ADW Ex, I'm not sure about other home replacement apps, but I don't think LauncherPro allows this.
You can also use something like Simi Folder or Folder Organizer to premake folders with custom icons and then add them to your homescreen as a widget or shortcut.

ok cool thanks ill have to give that a try
Launcher Pro Plus allows it, I don't know if the free version does. Go Launcher allows it too.
Folder Organizer lite is wonderful. App Organizer too.

And what about ES? Can it change icons?

[Q]Reinstall Samsung Stock Weather Widget?

How can I reinstall the Stock Weather Widget? I thought I saw a deodexed SW package for the charge here somewhere. Would I just need to drag the deodex and APK to the SD card?
Running Gummy and imnuts Kernel currently. Thanks in advance.
It may not be that easy, depending on what ROM you are running you may need the Samsung app that manages their widgets and you then could likely use the deodexed version of the weather widget.
The hard part is we don't have a key or legend to work from if we what the file names equaled we could figure it out.

I'm not sure what the answer is either, but I had always thought that the stock weather widget was some weatherbug widget?
In any case, you should check out Beautiful Widgets. It costs a bit, but it has great weather and clock widgets as well as skinning features.

[REQ] App & Shortcut Widget from HTC Butterfly

I would really enjoy being able to use this widget. I had extracted the apk file, (along with the 3x2 weather clock), and eventually got them installed in the system/app/ folder, but the widgets aren't present.
Perhaps someone would have a way to convert these to work on the M8? I'm mainly just looking to get the App & Shortcut widget, but the weather clock would be a nice bonus.
Thank you!
[EDIT]
I went over to the HTC One threads and found some apks and tried them. I got the app to appear in my app drawer but when I go to add it to my screen, but it just crashes. I have it installed as a system app and set the correct permissions. I'm guessing the apks just need some modification for Sense 6 since they were set for Sense 5. Any help with this would be amazing.
UPDATE:
I have extracted an apk that ALMOST works. I can add the widget to a screen, but it force closes when I try to assign an app to it.
I have included the apk, so any help would be great.
I pulled the apk from the Verizon M7 NuSenseSIX rom, so props and thanks to those developers.
