Hi guys, i have a problem here, i followed this guide http://wiki.cyanogenmod.com/wiki/HTC_Glacier:_Full_Update_Guide everything went smooth
i had to dowgrade as the page says as it had already gingerbread, every step went smooth, then i booted and everything apparently fine, except when i turn on my wifi it autoshuts down after some seconds (the wifi not the phone).
tried 7.2 latest nightly and same thing.
please help
this is a tmobile unit
htc mytouch 4g (aka glacier right?)
note: backed up as directed but upon restore i just get an md5 error so no going back
currently this info is shoing:
android version 2.3.7
baseband 12.28b.60.14eU_26.03.02.26_M
kernel 2.6.35.14 cyanogenmod-g295e82f
mod version cyanogenmod 7.20120909-nightly-glacier
Same problem here. I'm also using a CM7 nightly.
Under Wifi Advanced settings, its showing MAC address as unavailable. So far I've tried a "wifi fixer" on the android market, and I opened up the phone to check the two cables for Wifi.
Try reflashing probably a bad download or u can flash a new Rom such has android revolution or insert coin I recommend these Rom because they gingerbread an are most stable for glacier an really smooth

Be sure you're doing a complete wipe before flashing a ROM. Check out 4EXT recovery, as it has an option for wiping all partitions.

Thanyou, i think I have done wipe, as instructed on link, I followed exactly, maybe is not the rom as I have tried at least 3 cm versions, and 2 non cyanm, I returned to stock (downgrade version, 2.2) and still no luck, but I havnt tried the one it had, stock, 2.3, I have reflashed many times, this is a used phone, that I am unlocking for a friend, and while I was on it he asked for a rom, he got this cheap, and was not using it because of carrier lock, but I actually never checked if wifi was working before flashing it, so probably its just broken and that is why he got it so cheap lol (like 40 bucks) wil trry ota 2.3 and the others you guys suggested, just to exhaust possibilities,, but not with much hope, ty both for taking the time to answer

in my case I can't go to advanced, as it is only available when wifi is on, and I'm not fast enough to setup a network before out turns off, I cheeked someone with same problem on tmobile forums, no root, no flash,.regular ota, support said that if just factoiry reset with no sd, and before installing anything then its phone problem and needs to be replaced,
Any idea how to fix this piece of wifi hardware, are there available spare wifi chips or something? (i obviously can't return to tmobile a is used , phone from a foreign country :$

Weird thing is that wifi tethering works fine. Also I started noticing this problem after switching back to Gingerbread from ICS. I've reflashed several times with the other luck.

My dad's Nexus S keeps disconnecting from Wind and will NOT automatically reconnect to Wind. I've set it to Automatic. On top of this, *every* time I enable Wifi or Bluetooth on his device, his Wind connection drops and remains dropped until I manually reconnect.
The only way around this issue is if I manually select Wind's network in the settings menu, thereby avoiding 'Select automatically'. The problem here is that when the phone needs a reboot, it doesnt remember the last network and it needs to be manually selected *again*.
I've done a quick search via Google and there are others having the same/similar problem;
http://www.google.ca/support/forum/p/Google+Mobile/thread?tid=34411ac78e8a4ff6&hl=en
Apparently the 2.3.6 update doesn't fix this either. Is there a 2.3.7 release? I'm even thinking of rooting and flashing the phone to use a custom ROM (MIUI, its much cleaner with better shortcuts which my dad would like).
Does anyone know of a solution to this? I'm thinking of going into Wind and having it replaced (its less than a week old). Question is, if he's racked up more than 30 minutes, can he still get a straight exchange for the phone? Would it still be eligible for exchange/replacement if I tried the ICS update to the phone?
Did you guys root the phone? Ans if you did, did you installed custom rom? If so, it just might be the incompatibility with the Nexus S. If you didn't root it, the phone just might be defected. Try updating the os. It always doesn't hurt to update os. If that doesn't work, I guess you should return it and get the new one it somethign :/

At the minimum, I would try updating to 2.3.6.
Yeah try to update to newer os. And if that doesn't work, I guess you should exchange your phone or something??

I've updated my original question with more details.
But no, its not a rooted phone. Everything is stock Android 2.3.4. The phone is only about 5 days old, we got it for him on the 27th of December (or 26th, cant remember). I have installed a few applications (cnn news, wp.pl, bbc news, unit converter, etc). I've updated all the applications as well.
How can I obtain 2.3.6 and install it? Is the process difficult and would it render the phone non-returnable to his carrier for fixing/replacing?
If you have stock, the process is easy was snap if there's a avaliable ota update to your phone. Go to setting-about phone-system update (I'm pretty sure) and if there's an update for your phone, you can download and install the new rom from there.

Hi, I have the exact same problem as the original poster, except worse.
I lose my data connection when I turn on wifi, or after I reboot my phone. And once I lose the connection, I have to power off and take out the battery for it to work again. My phone was already rooted when this problem start about 4 days ago, was using stock rom (2.3.6) I downloaded for my I9020T (don't ask, minor hiccup when I was rooting my phone...)
So far I've tried the following:
1. boot to CWM recovery -> factory reset, wipe cache, unsuccessful
2. *#*#4636#*#*, changed preferred network to WCMDA preferred or only, unsuccessful (I also had issues with sending SMS, so I also updated the SMSC, which is 07916174080001f6 for Mobilicity in Canada). Also selected "Automatic" in "Select radio band".
3. I flashed the OS to cyanogen, still same problem.
4. In mobile settings, tried changing apn, toggle data connection, 2g/3g, "Select automatically", doesn't work.
5. a whole bunch of other voodoo I found on the web, but none worked.
The only thing I haven't tried yet is flashing with a stock sbf, because I can't seem to be able to find one.
The error message I see in *#*#4636#*# -> Phone info is something like DcInactiveConnection...: unknown data error (sorry can't remember the whole thing).
Also tried asking mobilicity to refresh my service, but that also didn't help.
I ran logcat in terminal emulator and searched through the log for "error" or anything suspicious, the only thing I saw were these,
1. Error loading keycharmap file '/system/usr/keychars/herring-keypad.kcm.bin'
2. caused by: java.net.SocketTimeoutException: Connection timed out
I/TelephonyRegistry( 188): notifyDataConnection: state=0 isDataConnectivityPossible=false reason=apnSwitched interfaceName=null networkType=3
I/TelephonyRegistry
3. onErrorResponse: Failed to send 5 events because of [com.android.volley.TimeoutError]
D/Volley
Tried googling all of them but didn't find anything useful.
I've been at this for the past 4 days and still haven't been able to fix this. I tried swapping in another mobilicity sim card and it also had the same behaviour, so it's definitely something with my phone.
Also, after I power down and remove the battery and power it back up again, the connection still doesn't come back automatically, but I have to toggle the airplane mode to get it to connect.
At this point, what else can/should I try? Or should I just ask them to send it for warranty?
Any help/advice will be VERY much appreciated!!!! And apologies for the essay.
Thanks!
NM, I reread your post. I have nothing for you. Sorry.
Hey all,,,I have a tmo sensation and have opensensation currently installed....the thing doesnt want to connect to mobile data...keeps showing the H then disconnects and repeats. Just happened recently and has been working fine on official nightly builds.
been searching around and seen others with the same issue but havent seen a fix for it
apn is correct
anyone have any idea's?
Found an answer to this in another thread. Apparently its a problem with the audio routing fix in CM roms that causes data issues in some devices.
I flashed: http://d-h.st/RFY this and it data is back to normal.
Did you flash that after wipe or over the top? I just wiped and flashed and am continuing to get the flashing data. Restoring back to Sense works and is an option, but the oddest thing for me was that this issue occurred like over night, without any installation on my part.

I actually flashed the superwipe.zip I had on my sd from a different rom I had installed then flashed that rom from the link and it worked great.
I think the superwipe was in the elegencia rom thread in development.
gotcha, ARHD also has the Superwipe.zip Thanks for the tip.

Hi, I've been fighting this problem for about a month. I'm certainly really frustrated.
I detected some time ago that, when someone tries to make a voice call yo my number, my phone seems not to receive the call (or the sequence required for the phone app to show the incomming call is broken at some point, beginning at the radio fw). I've tried many things, like flashing other radios, installing rils, reinstalling the rom (I'm using Revolution HD 7.0.4). The problem still happends every time.
Of course the first step I took was make a complaint to the phone company (Movistar Argentina); they make several tests, and finally change the sim card for a new one. Same as before.
The sim card and the company service seems to work fine, since when I put the same sim card in another phone, I had no problem to receive calls.
I thought full stock restore may be helpful, but I really don't know how to do that since I suspect not everything is placed back as it was OTB. For instance, I don't know how can be the radio+ril can be restored to factory defaults.
Any suggestions will be very appreciated.
Best regards,
Dario
If you can find access to the ruu for your region then you can just run that and it will restore everything to default. I'm not sure if since you are in a different country that you need a different ruu. If you can use the the American 2.47.502.7, I can provide a link. Also have you tried backing up just stuff you need from your sd card and wiping it. Sometimes there can be a file there that will cause issues.

Thanks four your reply.
I actually used the stock rom (I bought the device in America) for several months until change to Revolution ROM, so if you can provide me with a link I'll be grateful. I tried downloading the update from HTC official site, but seems to be an upgrade only application, I cant really tell. It ended up stopping with an error code.
I'll try also completely formatting the sd card.
Here you go. Make sure to install HTC sync on pc and leave it running in background. Then just plug in phone and run from pc

Thanks a lot, start downloading right now.
I've just installed Revolution 6.3.3, since I read in some other post that it comes with a RIL, and there's a suggestion about which radio version to use with it. So, after formatting every partition, sd card included, I flashed the proper radio and RHD. For the moment, it seems the phone is working fine, but can't be sure about ir since previously it also had some "god moments". Anyway, I'll keep watching how it behaves for a couple of days.
As a measure of last resort I'll install the stock rom Gizmoe kindly provided.
Thanks again, I'll report back with the results!

So far, so good
After a while, even with a clean RHD 6.3.3 installation, I'm not receiving calls again.
I'm able to make a call, receive sms, use data connection (wifi and 3g), pretty much everything but receive a voice call.
Don't really what to do anymore, I'm considering a hw problem now...

Have you tried reversing to s on. Wiping SD card and then running the ruu I provided. If it still happens with complete stock then I would agree its a hardware or sim card issue.

Ok I've just reversed to s-on with aahk-13012012. The scripts automatically downloaded HTC ATT stock rom, and it seems to be the same version you provided me earlier.
Then, updated to the latest rom published in HTC support site.
Again, as under a clean RHD rom, the first couple of hours everything works fine. So I'm gonna test it every day for 3 days in a row and see what happends.
Thanks again!

Nope, sadly not so many hours later, same problem as before.
I'm going back to RHD, s-off and root, an run an app I found in this forum that allows me to check some system logs. I'm interesting in monitoring the radio log.
Ask your carrier for a new sim. They should just give you one. That's what I would try next.

Yes, I've tried many radios and rils.
I can't really tell when exactly the incomming calls problem started, but since the last time I remember not having the problem, I changed the service provider and tried installing AOSP (aospX-1.0.0-BR4-DHD), with the corresponding radio and ril. I didn't liked it, so I went back to RHD (again, with the proper radio). That's why I thought reversing to stock sw could reverse the problems, if any of them were caused by rom/radio installations.
Now I'm back to RHD 7.0.3, and don't really thing flashing some other radio will help at all, but is there some recommendation about it I'll certainly consider it.
As allways, I'm receiving calls again. That could last for several hours.
It would be very useful if there is any script or app to debug real-time events related to incomming calls, so I can figure out what is really happening.
Thanks in advance, once again

Something strange (at least for me) happend.. Before flashing back RHD, I formatted all partitions (even made a new sd partition and formatted it). So, as far as I know, that completely wipes every peace of data.
But... my home wireless connected automatically!! no need to enter password or select it from the list of available wifi networks. Don't know where that configurations are stored, but it seems something is not being wiped up as I expected...

Can't beleive it!
I have T-Mobile HTC sensation 4G with S-OFF and 3.33 firmware.
I have tried whole bunch of different roms (ICS/JB Stock, MIUI, CM9-mods,CM10-mods and all popular here) and kernels on it and still never had WiFi working.
Usually it just says 'Turning WiFi on ...' but it never turns ON actually. Sometimes (without any visible cause) it turns suddenly ON and discovers networks (it happens really rare). Even in this rare moments the connection is unusable - it's simply dead.
What I've tried:
- all possible ROMs without any luck
- flashed different radios and firmwares
- upgraded HBOOT (to 1.27)
- WiFix
- used latest versions of 4EXT Recovery
- flashed kernels (boot.img) in fastboot
Nothing helped me.
So my question is, is there anything that I missed completely? I'd like to know some method to enable my WiFi and use it.
Try removing wifi_supplicant.conf from /data/misc/wifi/ (make a backup of it somewhere first) then reboot and check again

It was scary..
It couldn't run on Win7 machines, but finally ran on winxp. But there was a trouble it froze totally while flashing radio. I've waited more than hour without any progress. After it the phone became unusable. Fortunately after flashing recovery everything is fine again.
But still no WiFi...
Do you have any other ideas?
Hi bepcyc, I had the same problem as you on my Tmobile Sensation 4g. It seems to be working now. I decided to put this here in case it could help anyone else, I am not sure exactly which part fixed it so here is exactly what I did,
1. Restored stock using RUU according to this guide by kgs1992 - RUU Related Info
Note: I had to use a PC running windows 7 because the HTC drivers would not work with my windows 8 laptop, so adb did not recognize the device.
2. The wifi still was not working so I removed the back cover and raised the metal pins for the wifi connector a bit so it would make better contact with the antenna on the phone cover. The metal pins that I adjusted are the ones right above the camera when you remove the back cover.
I am not too sure if adjusting the pins solved the problem or if it was coincidental so I decided to let you know exactly what I did. Anyone having the same problem could maybe try adjusting the pins before running RUU to see if that fixes the problem.
I know how frustrating this was, I hope this helps anybody that has the same problem.

Hi mate,
I've been using CM10.1 since beginning. I only tested 10.2 but it's not my DD cause I like Acid Audio with Noozxoide and it's not compatible with 4.3 yet.
Since July builds I'm noting strange behavior related to GPS... Maybe this apply to your case too using 10.2...
I realised that when I charge through any USB port, GPS brakes. Running Waze for a feel minutes and hangs phone completely. I have to reboot, wipe cache, dalvik and fix permissions. This procedure brings Waze back to life. I run Waze about 3hrs a day, every day, together with bluetooth audio in my car. Everything runs perfect until due to any reason I need to connect phone to a PC USB port again. It only occurs when connected to a PC USB port. With wall charger or car charger, always fine.
Despite dirty flash or clean rom install, this pattern occurs. I flashed official 09/08 CM10.1 yesterday and got the same issue. Maybe it's something with kernel Razrteam didn't passed through yet.
It took me days to perceive that, as everything was fine for 5...6 days and suddenly and without messing with anything the issue started from sudden. I realised the only different thing I've been doing before the hang was charging phone at work through PC.
Hope this experience can help you detect something there!

NP! If nothing fix it, if you have a nandroid backup of a Motorola 4.1.2 flash it and get a GPS lock using your preferred app then do a fresh install of a CM10.1. (with a factory reset wipe). GPS will work fine. But if you do this, don't forget to backup everything as you 'll loose data.
I don´t know how to do this gps lock with nandroid, but i tried others nightlys roms, and the problems still remains!!!
I saw in the CM10.2 post thread, and other users have the same problem.
THanks again!!
