i have a simple questio why all ROM cooker`s make only wm6 and wm6.1 professional instead of improving the standard one wich was made for smartphones non touchscreen? The wm6 and wm6.1 pro are to hard to use because HTC Tornado doesn`t have touch screen..why all of you try to improve the pro version instead of the standard one?
Because 6.1 Professional has a lot more options and is a lot more powerful in general. I encourage you to get hold of a Wizard or Hermes or TyTN or one of HTC's touchscreen PDA phones with 6.1 Pro on it (I have a friend who owns a Wizard that I play with once in a while) and try it out.
If they can get 6.1Pro to work on a Smartphone, I can see how a lot of people would want it.
Of course, on a personal level, I've tried one of the 6.1Pro ROMs currently available for the Tornado and, honestly, I don't like it. It's got a lot of stuff that I want, but the interface just doesn't seem to work for me. I can't find my way around, can't figure out the button layout. If there was a 6.1 Standard that had all the options and capabilities of 6.1Pro, or if there was a 6.1Pro with a 6.1Standard interface, I'd be ALL FOR IT.
In any case, there's at least one person working on a 6.1 Standard for us Tornado users - GnatGoSplat has an *excellent* 6.1 Standard ROM that's been available for quite some time and, we're hoping, will be updated in the near future. GnatGoSplat rules.

I'm with you on this mate... Pro is for touch screen devices. Why the heck would anyone want that on a non-touch screen device? I have an HTC Touch running GnatGoSplats WM6.1 Pro - brilliant... I also have a Tornado running Gregory's WM6 Neo - also brillianr, but I wouldn't want anOS designed for a completely different kind of device on my Tornado no matter how good Pro is! Leave Pro with the touch screen devices, THAT'S WHAT IT'S FOR!!!

Why am I posting things twice? I must have got carried away with my ranting.... sorry!
pro versoon for smartphone rocks
yes but pro isn`t for non touchscreen devices...in my opinion for HTC Tornado make wm6.1 or wm6 better and do not try to make the pro version better...
I recently upgraded to a T-Mobile MDA Compact V and having spent a few hours playing around with a customised version of the HTC Touch Diamond2 interface I used the Hard-SPL to flash the ROM with an original ROM, which I would like to add is much better.
I then starting thinking whether it is possible to replace the Windows based OS with the latest version of Andriod packaged with the HTC Hero. The HTC Touch Diamond2 and the HTC Hero appear to have quite a few similarities in terms of specifications so would it really be difficult to install Andriod...???
If any one knows then please enlighten the rest of us.
Thanks,
Khaz

A lot of people are working on Android ports for WM devices. Having said that, I would wait (unless you are a programmer, someone with the knowledge to do this, or simply an adventurer with high chances of getting an expensive paperweight )
Look in the threads (or Google) for Android port +WM or something like that. Good luck
BTW, you should have posted this in the Q&A section...
just bought a touch diamond whats best windows or android & is it easy to flash back to a windows rom if i try and dont like android... and what roms do folk on here like best on this phone ? opinions please
wELL IT SEEMS NO ONE HAS THE TIME OR INCLINATION TO REPLY ON HERE ANY MORE? I WONDERD IF ITS CHANGED THAT MUCH,FOLK USED TO HELP BUT NO REPLYS,GUESS I WILL JUST HAVE TO STAB IN THE DARK TO SEE WEATHER ANDROID IS FOR ME OR TO STAY WITH WM,whoops please excuse the caps lock was on..
It's only been 24hrs, please be patient when asking a question for the answer.
Re: WM vs Android:
Android does not work 100% on WM devices so it's best to check the Android thread and see what isn't working and if you can live without it.
Alot of Android bases can work via haret on SD card so no need to flash, the nand versions you can flash back to WM via bootloader.
Make sure your Hard-SPL'd.

- You'll get better answers in the Diamond section.
- You didn't even say which model/carrier Diamond you have. GSM Diamond is different from Sprint/Alltel Diamond is different from Verizon Diamond. They are NOT interchangeable.
- Android for CDMA/Sprint Diamond is not really ready for prime time. Biggest problem is battery drain.
- You can try it WITHOUT flashing... just d/l the needed files and run it.
- The best forum to discuss ROMs for the Diamond is on www.ppcgeeks.com
- My favorite ROM for the Sprint Diamond is MightyRom 4. It is WM6.1. I see no point to WM6.5 for the Diamond.
OK thanks & sorry for impationtness would put it down to a bad day at the hair dressers or some thing but being bald/shaved that wont work so i just apologise ,yes i think looking about that i will stick with wm, i have seen the energy rom on the tube i like the look of that , the icons look real good and it seems smooth, so will have a look at some other roms and see, in an ideal world i would just get the handset of choise but i have to search for auction bargins to get my phones.. thanks Ali
Hi everybody..
It have been moths looking for the clear steps to install android on my HTC Elf, i have to tell u that i really got excited the first time i saw it running on others Elfs in videos and screen shots, i have noticed that almost all of posts are about HTC Vogue, which is the CDMA version of this model, while Elf is the GSM version..anyway!
I wanna know if the Vogue Android ROMs can be installed on the Elf as well or not?? it will be a real loss if the answer is no
Does anyone know if you can flash a HTC Incredible with a WinMo 6.5 Energy Rom Also does the Incredible have enough buttons and wow I forgot about the touch screen.
