[Q] Google Apps Issue? - Verizon Samsung Galaxy S III

Well, if any of you have seen the YouTube video of a SGS3 underwater I can now report that claims of it being waterproof are highly exaggerated..... Anyway I went swimming with mine and so Asurion sent me a new phone. My original phone had the 1st baseband version and the replacement is I535VRLG1.
Anyway, when I logged into Google with the new phone it re installed most of my apps, My original phone, which was rooted, at some point had the icons for Gmaps and Gnav change. The Gnav icon became a map with the nav "circle" instead of the blue arrow. The new phone had the original blue arrow icon that I like. Since not all my apps were restored by google I ran my Titanium Backup and restored them all, now my nav Icon is back to the map with the circle.
I realize I may be able to find the blue icon and replace it, I'm just curious if perhaps my backup had an older version of the Gapps? If so can I flash newer Gapps to a stock rooted configuration?
Thanks

Does anyone have: com.android.deskclock v2.0.2 ??

I need this for a custom shortcut that goes right to the alarm. The newer clock that came on my Evo LTE won't work. I recovered a backup from Titanium Backup on one of my devices w/o a problem. I then tried the same thing on my other Evo LTE but for some reason it just sits like it's recovering but no matter how long you leave it it never completes. Not sure what the hangup is but it appears as though that backup may be corrupt. I attempted the NFC 'push' of the app from one device to the other but no dice. I then used the 'send backup' option from Titanium Backup and on the new device it received it but there is no 'restore' option next to that backup. Not sure why as this should be an option otherwise what's the purpose to sending a backup if you can't restore it on the new device?
So, any suggestions on how to get this working app from one device to the other or does anyone have a link to the Deskclock v2.0.2? It's the one that has the more square white icon in the app tray whereas the newer one is circular in shape and more black than white.
Thanks!
Are you referring to the clock on the miui ROM? You can move your finger around to advance the timer? If yes, I am looking for that as well. I backed it up from the ROM so I can add it to a different ROM, no luck.

I've never used an MIUI ROM so I can't say but I know it's a stock Android Clock and think it's from Gingerbread but I'm not 100% sure on that as I ran custom ROMs that were of various Android versions so it's hard to say. The one that comes with the new ICS (and maybe the previous version but not sure) has a round icon in the app tray and is mostly black with white marks on it. The one I need is more square shaped in the app tray and is mostly white with a small black hands and a red second hand.
Still not sure why Titanium Backup won't let me send this backup to my wife's phone and the recover it on her phone. That would be the easiest way but doesn't seem to work. Also tried to use NFC to 'beam' it to her phone back to back and it wouldn't recognize it.

Stock nexus dialer on an aosp rom?

I was wondering if it was possible to get the new Google dialer app that comes with the stock rom that includes the Google caller ID on custom roms?
I'm running the cm11 nightly with PA gapps and the aosp dialer doesn't include caller id. I've looked around and I know that there are system apks people pulled and zips people made but the few I've tried haven't worked perfectly like I hoped. Like one I found in a tutorial somewhere included a system apk so I put it in the system folder changed permissions and all that good stuff without getting rid of the dialer I already have so when I start the phone back up I disable the first one, but the one I installed only works half way; I can search nearby businesses in the search bar like it should, but when I try to place a call it just crashes out and the call is still in progress, meaning sound is still coming out of the earpiece speaker and I can still talk, but there is nothing on the screen so there is no way to put on speaker phone, dial numbers, end the call, etc. There must be something in the original dialer apk that is required that the one I downloaded doesn't have. So I re enabled the original dialer, now taking and placing calls work again, but there are two phone icons for the two different apks in the app drawer now. I lived with it for a while but then when I updated the cm11 rom to the newest nightly it reset everything so I'll have to redo it every time I upgrade so I was checking to see if anyone knows how to totally just replace the original dialer to the one with caller ID with it working perfectly and no two different phone icons in the drawer.

Thank you, this is exactly what I was looking for! I will test out immediately

[Q] Help! System UI isn't there!

So yesterday I felt like downloading a new launcher so I got the Google Now launcher off a video on youtube --> (since this is my first post i cant put a url so ill give you the exact title for you to look up-->How To Install Official 4.4 Kit Kat Launcher On Any Android Device 4.1+, Its by DroidModderX Root Master) And in this video he says to update google search witht the files he provides. I did and right after that my phone began crashing alot and whenever I would touch the onscreen task manager icons (the 2 squares on top of eachother) It would give me an error like system ui has stopped than my notifications and home button thing went away but eventually came back a minute later. My background picture turned black too. So i thought I was smart so I decided to do a factory reset (I have a Kyocera Hydro Elite running android 4.1.2 rooted). When my phone turned on after being reset there was no notification or status bar or anything. Just the lockscreen. Please help!!!! I need this phone fixed

you will need to find the stock firmware and flash the phone back to stock.
you can not fix broken system files by factory resetting, as you have found.

[Q] New to this, just installed 4.4...

Hi All, I'd had my Xoom since release but a while ago it fell by the wayside, I recently picked it up again an spent this evening fiddling with it.
I manage to install Omni 4.4.4 and have the ElementalX 2.1 kernel so I can overclock it.
All seems fine except for a few minor things that are bugging me. On the home screen there is a white bar at the top, if I press the on the right of this bar it says 'App isn't installed' If I click the left side of it it brings up a google search bar. Any idea why it says App isn't installed on the right?
As well as that on the search bar I used to be able to press the microphone and speak what I wanted to search. This no long happens it doesn't do anything when I click the microphone.
Is there a way to delete the apps it won;t let you delete in the normal way. I'm a bit OCD about icon and I have Icons for 'Phone' and 'Messages' That is obviously not required on my tablet and weren't there with the OEM software.
Any other hints of tips for a noob?

The "app not installed" go to the play store and download "Google search"
Via normal app settings you can not uninstall system apps. So the normal way wouldn't work for phone and messages. However that Rom comes pre rooted so using a root enabled file explorer you can navigate to /system/app or /system/priv-app (depending on the application) and simple delete the app then reboot the tablet for the changes to take effect.
Or If you'd like you can use an app called titanium restore which has the ability to remove/uninstall ANY application

T-Mobile minutes notification display

My phone is a nexus 5 running stock 4.4.4. with a T-Mobile simcard. I also have the T-Mobile app installed.
It used to be that when I dragged down the phone's status bar, among the notifications was a convenient display that showed how many minutes I used and the renewal date.
For some reason this notification has now disappeared and I can find no setting in the app to change to bring it back. Anyone know what to do. Is it from a recent app update? Is there a way to restore that display?
Thanks.
SOLVED
It's a bug in the latest version of the T-Mobile app. I installed a backup of the previous version of the app, and things are back to normal.
