Questions - Galaxy Note 10.1 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi, I'm going to get a Galaxy Note 10.1 3G
I have a few question right here.
1. The sim card is normal one and not micro right?
2. What is the partition for the 16GB version? (For ROM)
3. Which colour looks better in your own opinion? Black or white?
4. What is the input voltage and ampere for charging?
5. Do you guys use screen protector? If yes, does it still feel responsive?
Thanks
Accidentally sent from my Google Nexus S

Definitely normal size SIM
I have the 32gb one.. Not sure. Available memory is 26gb
Personal preference black/grey
Not using a screen protector yet.
Cheers!

How about memory for system partition?
And can you please check the charger what is the output voltage and ampere...
Accidentally sent from my Google Nexus S

Output 5V-2Amp
Since ICS it´s the standard Android partition, nothing special on 10.1

Can you disable pen detection?

I just purchased the larger stylus holder that was intended for the 5.3 Note. I tried to use it, but it would not work without first removing the original stylus from the unit. I would like to use the new one and keep my original in the unit in case of emergency.
Anyone able to do this?

Go into settings and find the settings for the pen and uncheck the power saving setting for the pen.
OK, i tried to check that option, still the tab still detects when i remove the pen, is this option really working? I'm on build N8000XWALG7, is this a good build? How do i know which country firmware to upgrade? I am from philippines. My baseband is N8000XXLGA

I found it and it works. I can use my new sylus with the original still tucked inside. BTW... I really like the stylus holder with the 5.3 stylus much better than the origanal. Handwriting is much better. I am not getting all the extra squiggles on my letters.

I think it will always detect if the pen is removed or not irregardless of that option being checked or not. But by turning off the battery saving feature you are able to use another pen while the original 10.1 pen stays docked.
Hmmm wierd coz i tried using my other note's stylus and its not working, or do i have to buy another stylus? Both devices doesn't work when pen is dock

As soon as I went to settings and removed the check from battery saving, my second pen began to work while the original was in the dock. At least I think that as what I did to get it to work.

[Q] Internal storage not reporting free space correctly

I have a 32GBP pebble blue S3 and it isn't reporting it's free space correctly. It shows that I am barely using just over 1gb of space but only reports having 7.86 free. Not really sure what has caused this...... I haven't tried formatting the internal storage yet I was gonna do that tonight, but I was hoping someone might have another idea I could try.

Your screens look different than mine - I have a fully stock Galaxy S III 32GB in blue and it shows 32GB storage with over 20GB free.

I'm not sure of any other alternative solutions besides a PIT file, if a format doesn't fix it. I have the 32GB pit if you go that route.

I guessed a much - wonder if the space reporting symptom is possibly related to his OS customization at all.

What exactly does the pit file do. Just factory image it?

Stock Lollipop ROM?

I just recently purchased a Nexus 5 online and it came pre loaded with Android M, which I was excited for. However with me using the camera a lot, Android M is not for me. (Camera pictures flipping, app crashing, etc.)
Can someone provide a stock lollipop ROM, or let me know if there is a way to downgrade and keep stock? I am all for rooting and flashing, but with Nexus devices it's just made for stock OS.
A flashablr tar.md5 file would be preferred because I like to use Odin, but otherwise a .zip will work too.
Thanks!

Yes, I dropped my galaxy s5 and there was no external damage, but the drop damaged the internal sound card. So all audio was heavily static.
I used a website called swappa.com to buy my new phone.

The Galaxy Note 5 Attributes Thread

Hey ladies and gents,
I made this thread to have a place to post personal findings with your note 5's. For example, tell us how do you like the screen, anything weird that you noticed about the screen, the way the phone behaves, and possibly any quirks that you found out with the phone. Even things that you like and don't like. Maybe the phones camera acts a certain way in weird conditions, etc. Let us know so that we can discuss and possibly find solutions for any future quirky attributes that pop out! ?

I have noticed that when I want to send a pic to someone it automatically sends the pic without letting me type anything. Don't know if it is a bug or just the way the OS works.
I do not like the fact that I can't choose to use an app once or by defualt, it automatically selects the app for me

I agree. The default activity chooser is missing the option to use an app just once or always. Very annoying
Really? That's very annoying because I usually like to choose different media players for different media applications. That can pose a problem.

On a positive note (pun intended), the screen is gorgeous and wonderfully sensitive. My last two phones, lgg4 and nexus 6 were too dim in sunlight and the screens on the far right edge missed touches far too often. Well, on the LG touches were missed just about anywhere 1/3rd of the time.
I have noticed that when I take a screenshot with smart select and save it to gallery I cannot send it as an mms. It says unsupported media file. Anyone else had that problem/

Anybody with the Note 5 64gb how much of the 64gb do you get to use after the OS is installed? Right now I'm using around 50gb overall on my Note 3.

The size of the OS has no effect on the amount of in free user space, the OS is on a separate partition in the phone.
The separate partition is of a pre-determined size which has nothing to do with the free space on the internal sdcard.
That's why I do not see any advantage of uninstalling bloatware or other apps which we don't use or want.
Disabling bloatware and many other unwanted and unused apps is a much better and safer option.
Good luck,
Have a great day!
I hear what you are saying, but still doesn't answer his question. Regardless of partitions, you will still have 64gb to work with, so how much is available from a stock N5 64gb? I think I read that 11gb is used, but I can't confirm I don't have a note 5 yet. Coming soon. You should have over 50gb, probably 52-53. I'm sure someone can confirm.
@Misterjunky-That sounded a little rude, I didn't mean it so please don't take it the wrong way.

Ok, before adding any files to your internal sdcard you will have exactly 58,350,411,776,00 bytes usable free space.
Which means that you will have approx 58.3 GB usable free space to work with before adding any files.
Good luck,
Have a great day!
Damn, that's actually very good.

Has anyone ever noticed that the clock icon actually tells the right time? If you go to the app drawer and flip the page back and forth you can actually see the seconds hand moving.

SD Storage solution

While not as good as having an SD slot - this could be of some help. I'm sure you wouldn't leave it hanging all the time and most likely have to remove it to charge if your not using wireless charging.

I opted for the 64 GB version ... just to save from extra equipment. But there is a wireless flash drive option too.

I promise I'm not griefing but rather curious.... I am extremely satisfied with the 100 gigs of storage you get with OneDrive when you buy the Note 5. Any of my large files I have put in the cloud or if they are videos I either upload them to social media or put them on my PC for editing and don't forsee an issue with the 32 gigs of onboard storage. I guess I'm just wondering what sort of data an SD device like this accounts for due to a lack of expandable memory.
