How can we view the IMEI (*#06#), Test Code *#0*#) , CSC( *#1234#) etc using the dialer?
nothing happens when i input those codes anyone knows?
When you dial *#06# does it open up a window but no number comes up? It just says IMEI?

it worked in honeycomb 3.2 for me, not in 4.0.4, I dont think this is the only device Samsung removed this stuff from for ICS release.
anyways, you can always view youe IMEI in settings, and search a bit I have posted how to access most of this stuff.
Use Factory Mode Calculator keypad to input these codes, and/or use any cut app to choose your intent.
and be careful!!

You use a custom ROM?

Does anyone know if the Phone.apk/Contacts.apk can be changed to work how older versions of the Dialer worked, where as you dialed, contacts would show on the screen, so you could quickly find the contact. In the newer versions of Froyo/GB, it looks like it only allows you to dial the number but contacts don't show up.
Try using Go Contacts/Go Dialer. When you dial it shows the contacts as you dial like the old version of the dialer used to do
You could also try TouchPal or Dialer One, both will suit your purpose.
I really want this too. Seems insane to remove from the stock dialer.
It would be a great feature to see incorporated into new roms.

That was never the stock dialer.
For instance on galaxy s devices its part of touchwiz

It was stock on my Nexus One... it showed whatever the default contact pic was for both incoming and outgoing calls. On G2x stock dialer I just have the Bugdroid.

Hello,
Is there any place that has dialer skins/themes for the Galaxy Tab. I do know they come neutered in the US by the carriers. That has been taken care of, but now i would like something that I enjoy looking at. Apologies for a repeat question
No there isnt
Yes. Install Go Contacts. Great contacts app and you can skin the dialer too!

Go contact's is cool but do you know the way to exit it with back key? as you see, if you hit back key it take's you to the home screen. to exit one must go to settings and scroll down and there somewhere you'll find exit.

Try this one:

Is this possible? I really like the stock texting app, but I am unable to have a text sent without having to click on the touchscreen. Every other app in the world allows you to hit enter to send, but this one gives a new line. In a text. Which is pointless.
Any help would be great.
Go into settings in the stock app there's a option to send with enter click it

Hmm, I've gone into the settings again, and see no option for it. I am running stock KD1 with the stock messaging app. In the new message (aka universal composer) screen, settings only lets me choose which services to show. In the all messages screen, settings gives me a bunch storage and options, but none are related.
I am familiar with the plain vanilla android messenger app's setting for send on enter, but the sidekick I got doesn't have that.
And you have a different Rom listed on your signature. Could that have a different messaging app than me?
I understould wrong I thought u ment aosp messingin yes the stock sidekick messenging dosent allow it

Personally I prefer it this way, after having sent piles of half-finished texts from my G1 while trying to backspace or go for a letter. It's nearly impossible to send a text by accident now.
Where did Menu + M go? It should have been included.

you know when you make a call on stock android and you dial a number and you get a picture of the android on your screen and likewise the same happens if someone calls you (this is as long as you havent assigned pictures to your contacts or you are calling someone not on your contact list).
is it possible to edit something in the rom (stock or custom) so that the android picture doesnt show up on the screen?

i looked for dialer.apk in a rom but cant find it any help please?
Look in system/app

Probably not the solution you're looking for but in MIUI rom, if they don't have a picture, all it shows is your lockscreen wallpaper. I bet an alternative dialer like Go Contacts might do the same thing you're looking for.
I believe its in the framework-res apk in the hdpi-finger file

Morning everyone. I've found that when someone sends me an SMS and that SMS contains an URL, the URL is handled and opened inside of the messaging app. This is a problem for me as typically there is something that prevents the page from displaying. I can tell the page loaded because when I click the X to close the page, it briefly displays the content then I'm back at the SMS. Anyone else seeing this? Is there a way to force the url to be opened in the stock Samsung browser or Chrome?
I'm wondering the same thing. Very frustrating.

You can use package disabler pro to disable Samsung voice input and then Google will be default
Hmm....I was hoping that others had the this SMS URL problem and had solved it. It's ironic I guess....Sprint sends me a URL regarding the Note 7 recall....I can't read it because it opens inside of the SMS messaging app. I had to Copy the url into the Samsung Browser (which I really like) to see the recall info.
Well, if anyone should pass through this thread...and had the issue but resolved it, please let me know. Thanks
You can also just hit the 3 dot menu and select open in browser. Its not a solution but its easier then copying the link.
