how to remove android phone call screen pic? - Nexus S Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

you know when you make a call on stock android and you dial a number and you get a picture of the android on your screen and likewise the same happens if someone calls you (this is as long as you havent assigned pictures to your contacts or you are calling someone not on your contact list).
is it possible to edit something in the rom (stock or custom) so that the android picture doesnt show up on the screen?

That would prolly be done in dialer.apk, but I think it's coded in...

Probably not the solution you're looking for but in MIUI rom, if they don't have a picture, all it shows is your lockscreen wallpaper. I bet an alternative dialer like Go Contacts might do the same thing you're looking for.

I believe its in the framework-res apk in the hdpi-finger file

[REQUEST] [DIALER] Sense dialer app (or similiar)

I'm looking for a sense dialer app (or similar). Basically, one that will query contacts AND the call log as you dial. Do any exist?
don't think so. but you can search for NubDialer in the market - made by Wysie. Or you can also try the dialer one. it's something quite similar to sense dialer.

Dialer One doesn't query the call log or tell you the number you are calling (e.g., mobile, work, etc.). I just checked and NubDialer doesn't either.
Re: Sense dialer app (or similiar)
has anyone found an app to do this yet?

current version of dialer one does all these things.
Re: Sense dialer app (or similiar)
the search widget does this too. as you type it searches your contacts.

This isn't accurate. If I called 1234567890 a week ago, but it isn't in my phonebook, I cannot type 456 in DialerOne and have it retrieve that record. He has thrown in a new "group by call log" which will sort the query results by most frequently called, but that is it.

Right... but again - not looking for contacts... Looking for call log.
me too.
i tried "dailer one" and its not bad. it searches for contacts while you dial. but i dont like the ui.
i would prefer something more sense like...
does somebody know where to find it?
maybe if somebody could pull it from a sense rom?
EDIT: actually the ui of dialer one is far better if you set the the system wallpaper as background.
i think dialer one will become my phone app;-)

I'm working on making a theme to sense dialer, I will make a thread for it today
As all HTC apps need & use HTC's framework, none of them can be used on a normal Android ROM. The only way is installing a Sense ROM. But as people told you, Dialer One & NubDialer are the best dialers out there.

iphone style lock screen.

i used a rom a while back that had an iphone style slide to unlock screen.
i think it was virus rom or vaelpak..i forget.
is this readily available here?
i am on the phone using xda app so cant search.
can someone point me in the right direction?
thanks!

any aosp rom will have it (like cyanogenmod)
fresh rom has it, if you update using freshupdater
i don't know about the others
hmm dont use aosp stuff.
i will have to look i think it wad vaelpak that was senseless...
so does that mean its a sense thing that wont allow the sideways unlock?

It is a sense thing, but on any 2.2 Sense rom you can remove the HTCLockscreen and the original one will appear in its place. It works, but you can't use it for controlling Sense applications (music, calendar, sense alarm clock).

You have a couple options. If you have EStrongs file explorer and root and read/write turned on go to /system/app/ and delete htclockscreen.apk. or you can flash the attached file. this removes the HTC Sense lockscreen and just leaves the vanilla. If you use sense apps like alarm they wont work properly so you should download an alternative from the market like open alarm or AlarmKlock

Actually the alarm will work as long as you use the asop clock to set alarms...
Just wondering if there still isn't anyway to use the vanilla lock screen to answer calls yet?
oh i know i can just remove the apk, but oh god i hate the Vanilla lock screen... blah yuck.
ok first thing you'll say is the iphone style is nearly the same.
nope, it isnt is my answer.
You can also use widget locker on the market. it has an option for iPhone style screen unlocker.

[Q] Stock Contacts App Mod

is it possible to make the stock contacts app in the infuse under recent show only all for missed calls, made calls, and incoming calls, instead of it including text messages also. they have no purpose being in the contacts section of recents when your looking for a phone number?
any way to modify this. I know u can have it show one category at a time, but that's still no efficient.
I would also like to know about this

me too. it really annoys me showing the text messsages
Yeah. It kinda seems very silly to have it like that.

Same, its very annoying. I might even look for a 3rd party contact app when I have time.
Yeah, I REALLY hate that Samsung tweak. (Stock AOSP doesn't behave like this...)
It's a fairly easy LogsProvider.apk mod.

use the attatched logsprovider.apk file and paste it into system/app folder using root explorer. Rename the logsprovider.apk that is already in the system/app folder logsprovider.apk.stock. You can delete it if you want but i keep it just incase you need to go back to it. After you have done that, clear your logs and everything from then on should be only calls, no texts!!!!
Hi dajeoo,
thank you for the file. I was also looking for something like this. HAve you tried it on your Infuse? Are there any known bugs or issues?
I did it earlier today and it's fine so far... btw I got that file from refuse rom v1 so thanks to the developer of that....

Does this stick after a restart, OR will it only work on custom roms? I just did it and cleared everything including texts, restarted and texts are still going into the log
I've restarted my phone 2wice so far and it still functions as expected.
I'm on Infused 1.5

Carhigh,Did you change the file extension of the original logsprovider.apk file, or you can delete it.

Are there any free file transfer programs that will do this? My phreakin bank now charges $17.00 for any transaction out of the states.

Question for veteran themer...

I'm changing some pngs on my rom and I'be been able to find most of the ones I want to change. But I cannot find for the life of me the default image for logs and favorites. The image that is displayed if no picture is assigned. I changed it in contacts and it is changed there as well as history. I've looked in dialer tab activity, phone, and phone utility. ? Where the heck is it? I'm using gingerbread jw1.

Full screen caller

I am trying for a few days to modify Phone.apk for full screen caller picture but no chance...any of you has any idea, not using 3rd application just modify phone.apk...?
I decompiled application according to information I have from Xda and in apk/res/layout are those:
Call_card.xml
Call_card_person.xml...
It seems that we have to modify size of picture...I try and every time I got FC after modifying phone.apk and installing in phone......
So...maybe one of you know exactly how to do that....
