So, this is some epic idea. Now I need to spam in different random threads to get 10 posts so I can post feedback in rom thread that I've just installed on my HD2.
I know an answer to this question. I also happen to know other forums that have 0 spam and don't have this "epic" idea. Some don't allow to psot for 24 hours after registration and that is all...
What I fail to see is logic behind this. I need to spam in general sections to post legitimate feedback...

We get complaints about that rule all the time. However, it is in place for a reason and is not going anywhere. Furthermore, 10-post spammers always have their junk posts removed, and by creating this thread you've only managed to flag yourself as an account to watch for such spam. Simply answer some questions or contribute to the forum in some way and you'll be to 10 posts before you know it.

I wanted to upload picture of my phone settings and I got this message: "To prevent spam on the XDA forums, ALL new users prevented from posting outside links in their messages. After approximately 10 posts, you will be able to post outside links. Thank you for understanding! ".
so, in order to prevent spam I need to post 10 posts that I don't need? Is it sounds rational to you??

Maybe try making 10 helpful posts instead of, you know, spamming.
The 10 post rule does frustrate some people, but it serves a very valuable purpose. More information can be found from the link in my signature.

While I recognize that the idea behind the new member policy is sound, restricting new users from having meaningful interaction with ROM developers that has any chance of being seen is rather counterproductive. The message here is effectively go post 10 useless filler posts in some forum you can post to and then you can go back to the thread you had something useful to contribute to. Sure there is a wealth of information available to search but a specific aspect of a particular ROM on a particular device has no more effective home. A ROM developer for one ROM on a single device is not going to have the time to find a post in general forums to even read it let alone respond in the wrong thread to answer the person. This forum is too big for this type of policy to be effective and meaningful in my opinion.
"
..., you do not have permission to access this page. This could be due to one of several reasons:
Please Read: New members (those with fewer than 10 posts) are not permitted to post to development-related forums. The developer forums are intended for experienced users and developers to discuss ways to improve technical aspects related to ROMs and Software. While you may be an expert, we ask ALL users to avoid posting questions about using or installing ROMs and software in the Development Forums. To encourage this new Users can read but not post in these forums.
To ask Questions about developing your device, installing ROMs, software and themes you must go to the Q&A or General Forum.
Remember, your question has very likely been asked already, so please search before posting.
Your user account may not have sufficient privileges to access this page. Are you trying to edit someone else's post, access administrative features or some other privileged system?
If you are trying to post, the administrator may have disabled your account, or it may be awaiting activation."
The 10 post rule does several things. One of the most important things it does is keep commercial spam (especially spambots) out of the development forums. The DEV forums are really the heart of xda, so it makes sense to try and keep the spam far far away. The DEV forums really are for Development, so it also makes sense to give new users time to get acclimatized to what that really means and what is expected from their posts. The extra time also helps them to find their way on xda, because it just keeps getting larger.
Seriously, in the absence of the 10 post rule, the Dev forums would be full of offers for Louis Vuitton Bags, questions in the wrong place, questions that a few seconds of searching would give many many answers, bazzillions of "Thank You" posts, etc.
The answer is not to rush around and make 10 useless posts in the other forums, that is just making the problem worse. There are a lot of useful ways that allow you to get your 10 posts relatively quickly...and like most things on xda, there are already guides for this

Hi,
Great site, this is very useful to find information about supporting mods to devices!
I had a question about the number of posts, I am a junior member and as such, there are some threads I can`t post to.
However, my number of posts is not incremented anymore when I add new posts. If I search for posts submitted by myself, 6 posts are returned. However, my post count is stuck at 2.
Is there something I need to do to re-sync this?
Thanks!

I seem to have found the answer, I am using Ghostery as a tracker blocker, and it seems when active, it prevents the post count to be incremented. As long as I deactivate it before posting, it seems to increment the post count fine.
So if you haven't noticed there are a bunch of spam threads below (and also probably above once I post this) from 3 different users so far. This is the first time I've seen this bad of a spam and I'm wondering what's up with it, but hopefully all the threads are removed soon. But in the mean time I guess ignore them or report them. Also leaving a warning that the Spam takes up about 1-2 pages woth of threads.
Instead of making a thread regarding the issue, simply report the spam so that it can be dealt with accordingly.

Just an idea I'm not sure if it is a plausable idea but seeing there is so much chatter across devices regarding updates of ROM/Kernels and asking ETA's it might be worth considering some type of popup for the first post each day for logged in users that states the following :
"Respect the rules of the forums : (Hyperlink to rules)
Remember that many of the developers do this in their own time, please attempt to keep things on topic and don't ask for ETA's Developers will provide any information when they are good and ready.
Don't forget to subscribe to your favorite threads ! So you don't miss a thing"
Do you agree to this ? ( check box required here and a time allotment before allowing the box to be ticked )
This way for users who infrequently check back just to look for free stuff that people have worked hard and post baltently ask for ETA's e.c.t are forced to see some basic rules or follow the URL to the forums rules before posting fodder.
I know this would impact some users but a lot of people are regulars and help out others in threads and contribute, these people would likely just accept this once a day when they log in.
I know it won't stop many but then when a mod does chime in they can say hey look you agreed to play by the rules and still you persist in going OT or asking for ETA's and I'd deem that as fair warning.
Some forums have a rules section but its not very promently displayed nor do many people end up checking them a shorter condensed friendly reminder on first login of a day won't really hurt ?
I think there is lot of rules and regulations are there before submitting a comment. It must be important, because of avoiding such an unnecessary commennts.
