More details please. What device is it, how old is it, when was the problem appears, and what rom are you using etc...
Software usually drains battery a little more quickly if not being used properly (when and how to use it).

I have tried several wm6 roms without much problems, however lately I've noticed that browsing for about an hour drains the battery by 50% from a full charge. I flashed back to official aku 3.3 wm5 rom but the drain is still there. On standby I have no drain problem at all. The phone (and its battery)is about 30 months old, is the battery at the end of its life?
Any help appreciated
regards stretch
wifi sucks a lot of juice, but the battery is getting old if you plan on keeping the phone for a while it doesnt hurt to have a spare battery
I think you might need to flash back to the officail wm5 rom a few time to clear up the corrupt extended rom that drains the battery.
As stated by others earlier, WiFi is tuff on the battery and the drain is visibly noticeable.
If you're experiencing battery drain during normal use try one or both of these:
1. Install the SD Battery fix
2. Run the Blank or Empty Extended Rom
Extended Rom residue from a previous Rom has been shown to contribute in battery drainage & so has the SD card.

Hi,
Things that improve battery life:
- Drain the battery COMPLETELY until the phones shuts off and recharge the battery with the phone turned off. Do this 3 times. Improves battery life extremely.
- Disable repplog.exe in the notification queue with the comment "system time changed" using memmaid or similar tool (don't do this when you sync with an Exchange server OTA)
- Use advance config and enable all the options under "energy"
These are the 3 things I found in the forum that really work for me

BeeJive IM is a seriously intensive IM product that drains my battery very very quickly. I would suggest using Palringo. www.palringo.com It's not as pretty as BeeJive but your battery life with signifigantly improve.
I would also try using different radio's. Radios can help you improve battery life / signal strenth, etc. Test out all of the Raphael radios and available and see which ones works best for you.

I have tested the theory with draining the battery 3 times to it's complete and utter demise before charging. I found that doing it once worked best for me. Since Lithium Ion batteries do not have memory such as Nickel Metal Hydrate. I have found however that if my battery is acting funny to fully let it die then charge it up completely that it will return to it's normal self.
I have done a lot reseach on Lithium Ion batteries and found it's best to keep your device charged as much as it can and not let me battery get below 30% or 20% at the most before re-charging it. When I do this I get the best battery life as possible and my battery seems to last a lot longer in regards to the longevity of the battery as a whole.

I have noticed a definite decrease in battery life. I have re installed wipe battery stats and used battery calibration tool. I was just wondering if there is anything else i can do to increase my battery life?

There's about a dozen threads regarding battery life. Here's one.

I am using TWKernel 4/15 if that makes any difference and i will take at that thread and try using some of there battery life solutions and see what happens.
I've noticed in my Battery Use that it shows the camera as using 70%, but I haven't even used the camera. It seems like I'm not getting very good battery life so I'm wondering if this is draining it really bad. Anyone else have this issue?

That battery use % thing isn't very accurate, and even when it is, it's hard to understand what it's telling you.
What do you mean by "good battery life" and what ROM are you running on your g-tab?
CM10 battery life is pretty poor, anyone found a solution? I remember on defy someone improved by using stock battd folder in place of the original one, however desire s doesn't have this folder. Undervolted, full charge cycle, disabled auto brightness light to moderate use and only 8 hours. Display is main culprit according to system, maybe its getting too much voltage or something? I'm no dev its just a thought

Perhaps you should calibrate your battery with an app like battery calibration
"It's suggested, but not necessary, to let the phone fully discharge after calibration, then charged to 100% without break."
Make it twice or three time then you should see a difference.

Battery stats is a myth: http://www.xda-developers.com/andro...-battery-stats-does-not-improve-battery-life/
The difference seen is purely down to the full charge cycles done in this method, after about 5 days the battery stabilized anyway, thanks anyway

I have the same issue on Pacman (CM 10).
My - I hope temporary - solution is to disable 3G as much as I can. For everyday usage, 2G (Edge) is sufficient for me. At home I am on wifi anyway, so I perform the heavy tasks then.
I noticed a very big difference when using 2G only vs. mode "3G preferred". It seems that there is a 3G battery draining issue with CM.
3g is known to drain battery. Keep it at 2g for better battery life.

I know this trick from the defy forums, cm10 had the same issue on that phone, I'm getting the best battery life with cm10.1 build 12 with andromod kernel, using ondemandx governer gives normal -ish life even with 3g enabled
