Stuck in landscape mode - T-Mobile LG G2x

Searched around but didn't see anything.
I've rebooted a few times and pulled the battery. I've tapped it on all sides, etc. Phone is just stuck in landscape and won't rotate.
Any thoughts?

What ROM, etc...are you using? under display settings there's usually an option for auto-rotate, make sure it's checked. Also, if you're using a non-stock launcher, check the settings there for rotate, display mode, etc...

h8u so much right now lol thanks.
Rotate display decided it was going to disable itself. I have no explanation as to why but it, through it's own volition, and through no fault of my own disabled itself. It's been reeducated now.

I've found that it's usually the simple stuff, you just need somebody else to point it out. I've had my share of duh moments, too

Touch screen lag

When I unlock my phone and immediately tap an icon nothing happens. I know I've read that other people have had this problem. Has anyone figured out what causes it
Sent from my ADR6400L using XDA Premium App
Never hears of that, when I immediately click on something after I unlock my tn it opens the app no problem
I've tried many Roms and keep having the problem. Even tried different kernels and governors. I don't think it happened for the first week I had it.

You'll notice that it happens when your phone is plugged in. I don't know the reason for it, but I'm pretty sure it's a bug with the phone itself.
It happens even when it's not plugged in. Every time. It's not even a once in a while thing.
Sent from my ADR6400L using XDA Premium App
This also happens if you under clock very low with screen off. Then its slow to wake up, get notifications, and react.
I thought about that too. I don't have any profiles set and it still happens. Oh well. Thanks for the suggestion. If I can't figure it out I'll unroot and go exchange it.
Are using the sense launcher ?
-Monky_1
I had tried sense, launcher, adw, adw ex, and launcher pro. All with the same problem. Somehow this morning its back to how it should be. I have no idea what I did.

Are you running a task killer, antivirus, or setcpu? If yes to any of them that could be causing your problem.
I removed setcpu, and lookout and restarted and it still wasn't better so I put them back on. But today its still better for the first time in a week. Only thing I did different was pull the battery. Hopefully it keeps working.

Do you know if the LED lights go back to full brightness after I turn on my screen?
Sent from my G2X using XDA Premium
No they don't. They stay at the setting in the app. Paul put it out its quality
Edit: this should be in the Q&A section

Ok I installed that program
I tried it before but didn't played too much with it
Do I know if I NEED the service running 24/7 on order to work?

If your using the app, yes the service MUST run. If its built into the kernel\ROM like CM7, then you dont even need the app
You shouldn't be running a task killer anyway. Android manages its services by itself killing system apps on a regular basis can make apps that need to be running in the back ground start again wasting battery. Plus your phone will act strange after awhile. You shouldn't use them.
Again this belongs in Q&A

Moved to proper forum.
Too bad I didn't read this thread earlier, I figured this out on my own today, doing the same thing, I changed my brightness to 1 (the lowest it would stay lit) , I do think this would definitely help out on battery life.

The Touch Key Lights app DOES NOT works properly with
1) Cyan 7 mod
I am using stock Android now, it works like a charm
One touch, and the program changes the value FOREVER (even after reboots, after I re-insert the battery...)

Camera bug

Does anyone else have this issue? Since my upgrade to gingerbread on a completely stock phone, whenever I exit my camera my screen brightness turns all the way down until I lock and unlock my screen.... Any fix??
Sent from my LG-P999 using XDA Premium App
I haven't experienced this yet. Try installing the LG Cam.
Sent from my LG G2X using XDA Premium for Android
It's no fix, but an easy way to figure out a little more would be to use the stock power console widget and set it to it's brightest setting. A before and after might tell you whether the camera is adjusting the current brightness setting or toggling something else.
It is only when auto brightness is on. I'm using launcher pro as well. Can anyone duplicate this?

No. Mine is completely stock Gingerbread V21e, including the stock launcher; I'm using auto-brightness, and I don't have that problem.
Ok what is really weird is I removed the default for launcher pro to try the stock launcher, and it didn't happen. I now tried again with launcher pro and it went away. This has been plaguing me since I upgraded 2 weeks ago, and now just vanished.... Hmmmm....

G2x is still a new phone and they're still rolling out the 2.3.3 GB update (after testing and problems and bricks) I'm sure the bugs will get worked out as the phone ages. But I'm glad to hear the problem fixed itself. If it ever continues, I'd look into replacing the phone just in case its an issue with the phone itself.
The screen auto brightens when you open the camera app and goes back to normal when you close it.

It happened to me before the update.

Interesting find.

I'm not sure if anyone else knows about this, but if you hold your finger on the status bar until the notification tray starts to open and then stops opening, you can slide your finger back and forth on the status bar to adjust brightness without going into your settings. I just found this out and thought it was cool and worth sharing

I kept noticing it changing brightness randomly sometimes since I got it back in August, and I just figured it out, haha. Oh well, eitherway, I'm sure there are people out there who will be pleased to learn this trick

Before people say it doesn't work, allow me to state the obvious. You have to turn off auto-contrast.

While the idea is nice, I find it a bit tedious. I'll go with a switch widget instead.

Dim Softkey brightness? Is it possible?

Is it just me or are the softkeys really bright on the s2?
Well, ive gone on google and tried to find the answer, but seems like there is not a way to possibly reduce the brightness of the softkeys itself.
However, before i give up (i find those softkeys useful, but hard to use at night as its too bright, and turning off the function is difficult to use) I was wondering if its possible without rooting, by using a 3rd party app.
Thanks

That's an interesting idea. The brightness issue made me turn off that light all together (running CM9). I found the light so distracting when using my phone to read a book or something in a dark room at night...
I hope someone chimes in with an idea.
.
Seriously doubt its possible without root.... with root, the only ones i can find just turn them off.. havent seen anything that just dims.
Would definitely say impossible without root, as you need to edit system files to alter hardware functions. I don't believe there is a variable anywhere to edit that though, because I've only ever seen their functions to be off and on with all the phones I've used that have had them. Just my 2 cents, but I'm sure a skilled dev could give you a better opinion.
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I727 using xda premium
Darn alright thanks for your posts!
Hopefully a dev could give his $0.02, as i would believe it would make the softkeys more usable throughout the day and night.
i think over time you get use to it. i turned my keys off and i have no problem navigating.

That's true. But I think to me its that little add on that makes everything nicer. However, just my opinion though.

Use the app screen filter. It will allow you to dim the buttons. Not sure if root is needed or not tho.

Didn't work for me either, however, I like the the function of the app for screen brightness.
What rom are you guys on? I'm on AOKP B40 and screen filter worked perfectly. Much easier to dim than with Lux, and back light for keys turned off and on perfectly.

Wont work. The leds used can not be dimmed. They are a two stage light. On/off

I'm not sure exactly how these specific leds work, but I know with store bought leds, you can use what's called multiplexing which makes them flash faster than your eye can see, but slow enough that it seems as if they are dimmer...not sure if there is a way to lower the speed or if you can even make them flash at all (constantly)
You could also maybe look for a night mode from a third party app to change settings at a certain time
Sent from my SGH-I727 using Tapatalk 2
That said.. I wonder if its safe to have a an app to lower voltage/amps to these leds.
