Hi.
My TF700 has a faint buzzing / humming sound coming from the back.
I can only hear it around left dock connector or if i put my ear on the back side of the tablet around that area.
I think is screen related as is only produced when screen is on.
Does anyone/everyone has it or is some kind of defect on mine ?

No buzzing here. That seems like something is wrong.

Buzzing sounds like a short. Take it back.

Kind of, actually more like a power convertor, like the sound you can hear from some laptop power converters.
Probably there is no short circuit, more likely a bad solder or a faulty component.
It 100% has to do with the screen because when the screen is off there is no sound even if the cpu not sleeping (adb, music, ...), maybe has to do with dynamic contrast witch probably many disable but can't test for obvious reason that i don't want to break warranty so please specify if posible if you stock rom or custom.
Unfortunately send back is not so easy as the device was bought from US and brought to me by a friend and I'm on the other side of the world.
Does Asus has international warranty for them ?

Is anyone else experiencing a high pitch whine while docked? It only happens when the Transformer is docked.
I noticed this the other day, and if I put my ear close to the dock it seems as though the high pitched sound is coming from the charging port on the dock. I wonder if maybe this has something to do with my extensive battery loss while having it docked. Is this a widepsread issue that others have also noticed?
mine is silent in or out of the dock. A blessed relief as my laptop always gave off a high pitched whine.

Yeah that's exactly what I'm thinking.
Anyone else having this issue?
My dock is silent.
My dock is silent also.
I have my ear to the TF in the dock and don't hear a thing.
So when you guys have your tablet docked into the keyboard and you put your ear up to the pin connect on the keyboard you aren't hearing a high pitched whine?

I could be an age issue. After about 20 you start losing higher frequency hearing. Store around here that don't want kids hanging around use speakers that broadcast annoying tones in these higher frequencies.
I'm 19 and no whine.
I'm 22 and hear the whine. When I undock the tablet it stops, but as soon as I dock it in the whine comes from the pin connector, almost like power is exiting from the pin connector....not the most technical term and I have no idea what I am talking about, but that would be my guess lol.
Mine whines and the dock battery seems to drain excessively.
This thread will quickly turn into, "How old are you? Haha, you have to deal with the whine for a few more years, suckerr"
If the whine is persistent, swap it. To me, that would be unbearably annoying.

Would try to if I could even get in touch with Asus Support. Weeks and they haven't responded to either of my Technical Support inquiries.
I don't have the dock yet but my TF101 charger makes a whine/buzz sound if you are in a really quiet room.
My dock is emitting the anoying sound. Can hear it pretty clearly
My first Transformer had a prductionfault in top of the panel with some glue all over, no sound and no wifi antenna working.
This one have this ****ty sound and an edge bleed in the down left corners (Picture)
This is really ****ty by ASUS.

mine makes awful high pitch noise as well.
for some reason it started doing that and now the battery gets warm too. I am sensitive to those kind of noises and drives me crazy. i have to call asus for resolution. this sucks, i got it for christmas not even a month old and is defective, by the way the left usp port does not work for some reason. i love my table thought, just with i would wish the keyboard works, anyone else has this problem with a possible resolution.
There shouldn't be any noise at all, considering there's no moving parts whatsoever.
i found similar threads and posts but none with this specific problem. i have a b90 from bb, 12/11/11. yesterday out of no where, i lost sound. long story short after reboots and wipes, realized when i rotate or ecspecially shake my tf101, my speaker cut on, then off. when i press hard on the bezel in the middle, they come on briefly. sometimes they stay on.
any insight or answers to solve this so i dont have to do the rma process would be greatly appreciated. after purchase from bb for 299 ( cheaper build to reduce price maybe) i became an asus fan. now, i am really dissapointed in quality since other then this, my tablet is physically flawless and hasnt been dropped or damaged.
edit: both speakers do work when they decide to come on, and heaphones work. thnx in advance
I have cut out and removed my right speaker because it was dead, waiting on an order from asusparts.eu for a replacement speaker
It wasn't a loose wire, it was the connection to the actual cone that was bad, pressing in the middle of the speaker brought it to life for the first time since I bought it, but nothing I could do to fix it, they are more or less sealed and too tiny to fix
so you believe its the speakers? they both seem to work, they just aren't outputting sound until I shake the tablet, push, or sometimes face down they work
Why not just rma it?

Couldn't say for sure, but it sounds like something you could fix yourself if shaking it brings it back on, if you don't mind losing warrantly opening it, but bear in mind, my speaker replacement has already taken 2 weeks and they are not expecting parts until the end of february, so RMA might be quicker, depends if you can put up being without it for a while
honestly i dont want to be without my tf. silly huh. its weird though i just discovered that like i mentioned, headphones work fine, however after i unplug the headphones the speakers immedfiately output sound and continue to do so until i change to another app. e.g.- while watching netflix, then back out and open a game with sound, it doesnt output untilni plug and unplug headphones. this seems to be the best way to get speakers to play.
they donteven seem to cut out with movement afterbthe headphones are unplugged. only when exiting out of current app, then attemptingbtonopen a new one. what is the issuer here?
im lost ast this point. rma aside, this has me curious now
id probally be willing to do it myself, if i knew exactly what i was replacing or repairing or rigging. i purchased a kit with the neccesary t5 torx, and phillips to remove bezel.
how tight should the screws be on the bottom of the tf. i dont want to overtighten. got some petty hope that tightening the screws will help. more sillyness im sure.....
this stinks though cvuz this just happened. you know? thnx in advance.
also lookimg at bluetooth speaker as an alternative
Speakers working after you remove the headphones but stopping again once you launch another app ?
You tried a factory reset in-case its a software / firmware bug ?
Screws just need nipping up, not tightened too much or you`ll either thread the holes or snap the head of the screw
Just RMA it, man.
Last night I was using my shield tablet and I heard a noise when I touched the screen...thought it might be the speakers so I turned them down and could still hear it, so I put my ear to back of tablet and can hear buzzing when the screen is touched or when an app is running, and it I play a high graphic game its pretty loud.
Is this normal sound of the K1 processor? Anyone else had this before? Wanna know do I need to return it or not!
Thanks
Same here.

I'm curious about this too. I also thought it was speaker buzz but it's not.

Guess no one helps here...found this though.... forums.geforce.com/default/topic/785841/shield-tablet/noise-near-from-the-speaker-opposite-side-from-hdmi-/
Seems like its normal to hear the processor and nothing to worry about!

been reading about this and couldn't stop until i found a satisfactory answer, so i kept digging and found this :
" This 'whine' or 'squeal' is the sound of these things ( inductors, coils or chokes ) physically vibrating, and it is a sign that they are poorly insulated. However this does not mean they have a shorter lifespan than a coil that does not whine and you really shouldn't lose sleep over it.
Why do they only whine when the PC is under load? What you're hearing is an effect of the PWM frequency, and as you pull more current through the inductor it induces a greater magnetic field in itself and in turn vibrating more aggressively.
Will it go away? Well, Possibly. My 8800GT squealed like a piglet in a housefire for months, and one day the noise disappeared completely. Either some characteristics of the circuit had changed or the windings in the coil had shifted.
Can you stop it? As most people know, you can stop inductors whining by chucking hot glue at them, putting high voltage putty around them, or soaking them in resin and waiting for them to set. Most (apart from PSU) inductors in PCs are covered anyway, so you can't properly silence them.
"
cheers
So I was just sitting in a quiet room when I noticed a sound, I brought my tablet up to my ear to find that it was making this sound that kinda sounded like water rushing through a pipe, not like sloshing or anything if you know what I mean . . . I also noticed that its not coming from the speakers as when I put my ear up to the SHEILD logo it seems to get louder as well as the fact that when I lock the device it stops. In dunno what it is or if I should be worried as obviously the device isnt liquid cooled and it fosnt have any fans either. Any ideas?
I've heard this once. I rebooted the tablet and that took care of it.

Mine also makes these sounds, especially while gaming. It is noticeable when the volume is off. Sounds like a buzzing to me. The sounds are there regardless of ROM and OS Version.
It's coil whine. This is a know issue. Don't worry about it. RMA don't solve the problem(except if the buzz is high). The buzz is very low for me. Only ear on a quiet room.
Does anyone else have an issue with the vibration motor making a weird noise? Almost like it's not stuck in the phone properly. When I squeeze the phone it stops, as soon as I let go the sound returns.

Sounds like you have a problem,my vibrate is quite loud but not as electronic sounding as yours.Mine is more deep bassey almost
If it also makes that sound when flat on a table or in your hand instead of on the case, then something is wrong indeed.

Yes, it does it whenever the phone vibrates. Makes no difference if it's in the case, out, flat on the table etc. Only stops when I pinch the phone.
I'll start a chat with Oneplus for a repair order
Oh **** that's not good. Mine sounds tinny but solid. Not as nice as phones like the LG V30, but acceptable. Definitely that sounds bad. Take it back for warranty replacement IMO
I had the same problem and had to reduce the intensity of vibration via settings. Working is acceptable since then.
Only that it scared me when it suddenly started up.

Sounds like you have a unique vibrator that no other phone has. Embrace it or... You should probably replace, because that's an actual moving part, and if not to spec, it could lead to a catastrophic failure, whatever that means.

That's one way to look at it. You're a glass half full kinda guy
I've send it back to OnePlus for repair monday, should have it back tomorrow. Happy for the quick repair by OnePlus.
I have the same exact problem. The strong vibration setting causing it but when I put it on medium its fine.
*Man, it would take like 2 weeks to get my phone back, I don't know if I should sent it for repair or not. :/
I have the same problem. Contacted OnePlus via live chat and was told this is normal and it happens on her OnePlus phone on strong vibration setting.
I decided to check on YouTube to see where the vibration motor is located. Put the phone down on a flat hard surface, applied a little pressure on the bottom half of the phone by holding phone by the sides. This seems to have 'fixed' it for me for now.
Looks like it is not 'normal' behaviour as the lady in customer services suggested. Probably just a slight quality control issue.
edit: seems it was temporary 'fix'. Rattling is back.
My launch-week OP6 just developed this issue. Leads me to believe it might be something like an adhesive working loose over time. Thank you for this thread. I've put my call vibration on medium (was high) which seems to alleviate it.
I have sent my OP6 for repair. Dropped it off at the local UPS service location, it is going from the UK to Poland. Lets see how long the turnaround will be and what, if anything, they do to fix this.
Checked the RMA tracking today and apparently the fault has been fixed. Spoke to someone on OnePlus live chat who said the vibration motor was faulty and has now been replaced.
Took a total of 4 days to receive the phone back. Vibration motor replaced and no longer rattles when set to 'Strong'. Now just restoring apps and data on the phone.

OnePlus provided a return label to send from UK to Poland. I packed the phone in the original box for protection. Not necessary to send back in original box but has to be packed securely.
I have the same problem with the strange vibration sound.... But it only happens sometimes.
The noise comes from the metal power button and volume button. Nothing to be worried about. Its annoying but you can fix it by using full back cover.
