When I take a screenshot using the s pen I am given another screen to edit/crop etc the screenshot. I don't see that editor when I use the screenshot button on the bottom tool bar. Is there a way to edit a photo or a screenshot like that after the fact?
I'd like to take a few screenshots using the button at the bottom tool bar. Then, go back in one by one and edit them. But I am not sure how to bring up the little editing tool.
I know there are other tools, like the photoshop, but all I need to do is quick crops and little notes and save. It is perfect for what need.

I know that you can edit in different apps by going to the gallery and pulling up the screen shot folder, then selecting one of the shots. Try it out.
Porthole, same question! If you will know how to do it, please, update this thread
Try long-pressing the screenshot button.
It works for me.
The easiest way to do it would be to do a new screenshot whenever You want to edit any photo oder already screenshooted screenshot with the stylus ......................
davp, if I long press the screenshot button it just makes another screenshot

There is also a thread on this in Q&A

Im not entirely sure im understanding.
if i want to edit a particular screen i.e edit as soon as i take the screenshot, i can either do it with the pen and button longpress, OR, i long press the screenshot button on the taskbar, which both methods leads me straight to edit, whereas a short press on the taskbar button just takes the screenshot and no edit
Are you saying, that when you push the task bar button, it take two screenshots, in which the second one goes to the edit funtion, becuase if so, its not how my one does it, actually im gonna doulble check that to be sure. Edit, nope, doesnt do it on mine
Sorry, im having a bad comprehension day today
Edit, ok after re reading the thread i think i understand
You dont need to do two screenshots with the taskbar button, when you,ve found what you want to screenshot, longpress the taskbar screenshot button until the edit screen comes up,, no need to take two screenshots, as this method takes you to edit first time
Nope I can take screenshot with simple editor tools on top by two ways:
1. Hold S-Pen button and long-tap the screen
2. Hold the screenshot button in menu
After any of this operations I will have screenshot with editing tools. After that I edit some stuff and press SAVE. But if I want to add something AFTER THAT, I can't open this "simple editor" again. I should made another screenshot on top of it and so on.. Sorry for my bad english, but I think you should understand me.

Nah, your english is fine my friend, its my comprehension skills that are laxx.
I understand now, at least i hope i do, and i dont think our tab can re re edit as far as i know, the only way i can see doing what i think your asking is to open the snote app and edit what you can from there, but its not as good for what your asking in my opinion
These are all great ideas. I didn't know about the long press on the tool bar button. Still, it would be nice to know how to open this program after the fact. If anyone figures this out, please post.

Wow. My post disappeared. Posted this last night - you can use the gallery or any other picture explorer to open the screen shots folder and edit them from there.
Hopefully a dev extracts that editor somehow...

Hi everyone,
I pulled the Browser.apk off my phone because I want to do a simple edit to the menu. I opened up the .apk to take a look and saw the xml files. That made me think what I wanted to do would be easy. NOT !
All I'm wanting to do it take the menu and change the useless "Goto URL" menu button and change it to a "Home" button. Since all you have to do is start typing to go to any URL, that button is sitting there wasting space and could be put to better use (at least for me).
Would that be possible?
Can someone tell me how to start?
Thanks.
Well if there were no physical keyboard (magic) there's no way to go to a web page besides that button. I suggest, if you ever plan on updating to 1.5 or any future build with a soft keyboard, then you should leave it like it is.
BTW the xml files are compiled somehow.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=479019
if you want to change the function of some button, you'll have to change the source and compile yourself.
Thanks everyone.
This looks like a good exercise that will help me learn a bit.
I might give it a try (keeping the original for future upgrades).
Thanks again. Now I'm off to figure out the first steps
This file is used to have your HD2 immediately soft reset when you do a long press on the endcall key.
Why immediate? Because sometimes it happens that the device locks up in a way you can trigger keypad actions but do NOT see anything on screen (included the confirmation dialogue for the reset), that way if you need to reset you have to remove the back cover.
For someone like me, who switches the battery often, the least times it's needed to peel off the panel, the longer the plastic of the chassis will last.
So well, download this file:
View attachment EndKey.exe.zip
and RENAME IT TO EndKey.exe REMOVING THE .zip EXTENSION, it's NOT a zip file!
I am on an ubuntu laptop right now and since "compress" is not one of the options on the right-click menu I couldn't be bothered to open the archive manager and compress the file manually so i just renamed the exe for the upload sake
Then copy the obtained EndKey.exe file under \Windows\ overwriting the current one (which corresponds either to your stock actionscreen, or to whatever other utility you have installed that hooks on longpress endkey) and to test it just do a longpress endkey, the device should immediately softreset. If not, you got a problem
If you want to go safe, before overwriting the file, rename the original one
Credits for the exe file (which is just a softreset utility renamed to EndKey.exe) go to whoever is its author, I don't know Found this "SR.exe" file among the preinstalled apps on my custom rom so I thought I could as well reuse it for a more useful purpose
[UPDATED INFO]
Apparently this method met with favour a lot of you, and others suggested/integrated it to make it even more useful.
First of all l3v5y created a cab for it here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=6376602&postcount=5
If you still need to shutdown the device here and there several users suggested XDAShutDown, with several kind of skins:
1) http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=591149
2) http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=6389730&postcount=25
And browsing through xdaportal I found another shutdown tool that looks good as well:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=6335326#post6335326
If you still want a confirmation dialogue before softreset instead of having it trigger right away:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=6377877&postcount=15
Great idea, thanks for sharing!
Cool man you did good job, this is what i am looking for
Thanks
thanks! simple and useful!
Here's a cab that should hopefully achieve what the described process does.
great idea. but how do you shut off your device now?

Look. This is an app, that makes the "endkey" to reset the phone,
NOT the "switch-off" key.
So, if you want to turn your phone off, you simply press the power button on the top of you device.

Thank you Ephestione for the great soft.
Thank you L3v5y for the cab.
This is really useful.
How could have HTC simply forgot the "Soft Reset" function ??!
Ephestione,
Do you think it could be possible to add a confirmation message before soft reset.
I think it would be useful and more secure.
Many thanks

Well... I released this... err... "ripoff" for the HD2, we are not lucky enough to have a shutdown button on the top
Anyway, I was away just a couple hours and I see two pages of replies already, I am very happy you liked it fellas (and thanks l3v5y for powering it up with a cab)
Anyway, I'd like to reinstate that my job went only so far to check how longpress endkey function was managed, and renaming an exe file that someone else created... in the Creative Commons language, it would be a very simple derivative work Stil,l if you want to show appreciation, create a dropbox account with the referral link in my sig and I'll get 250mb more
EDIT: BTW, to restore the original action screen, stock from HTC; just delete the endkey.exe you copied/installed from cab, it will get replaced by a 80k exe which is the stock screen
EDIT2: @l3v5y, deleted my exe, installed your cab and moved it to sashimi's auto folder anyway you don't need to make it reboot, since the reset function is active right after the installation/filecopy

well, all I did was rename an exe... tell you what, there is a tool called "hd2connections" which is a collection of exe shortcuts to toggle BT/wifi, reset, shutdown, and stuff like that (search for it on xda).
You can talke the softreset exe from there, rename it to EndKey.exe, copy over to \Windows\, and you'll see a confirmation dialogue asking you if you REALLY want to softreset. It's in french, at least in my installation, but still comprehensible
Anyway, I expressely chose NOT to have a confirmation, because of the times I need to softreset, the faster the better, and this way if your screen locks up in a crash and you can't see the dialogue, you can softreset anyway (at least you should, didn't happen yet to test it )
great stuff, thanks a lot.

Ok So i have Cookies Home Tab (Newest version) and Cookies Home Tab Editor (also newest version) installed on my HD2. On the home screen i press menu and press edit quick links. next i added the quicklinks i wanted. but i accidentily added one i didn't want. but now i don't know how to delete the quicklink. there is a choice to press Tap to ass/Remove. I press it on the quicklink and a little red x pops up in the bottom right corner of the quicklink but I can't delete it. HELP
ok, get your pen and paper ready.... this may be a bit confusing, but you will get the hang of it quickly.
once you select the quick link you want to delete.. look in the lower left corner, and press....OMG.. are you ready for this.. DONE.
once you see the little red x, do you click 'done'?

yes i did THAT......doesn't work. you don't have to be snarky. The only way i could remove the quicklink is if i completely uninstall Cookies Home Tab and do it the regular way where you hold the app and drag it and let go to remove it. but that is too big of a hassle.

First of all I would like to thank the users below for letting me to use their work
BT73 for his OP "Making Your Action screen like me",
lyriquidperfection for his great Touch tools for HTC apllication,
Marcdu81 for his very useful HD2connections cab and
Dinik for his great HD2 Iconset
makeveral for letting me integrate his very useful ram sweeper in my cab.
In "EndKey replacement" I used their work or some of their work, edited some things and I came up with this app as a result.
PURPOSE
The purpose of this app is to replace the EndKey function with a more useful and with more options one.
INSTALLING
Just install the cab and reset.
EDITING
You can change the functions of the buttons by editing the keys that reside in [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\HTC\Biotouch\ActionScreen] with a registry editor.
1. Open HKLM\Software\HTC\Biotouch\ActionScreen\APP_0-11. Each number corresponds to a button
2. Change "Path" to point to your desired app.
3. Edit "Param" if you want to pass parameters to the app.
For more editing, like background and buttons please see BT73's OP
UPDATE
Now when you press a button you also have an icon showing up. Thanks to k8sh's idea
UPDATE 2
I replaced the camera button with Enter bootloader. Preview below.
UPDATE 3
I made the buttons to get pressed like k8sh suggested. see preview 3
UPDATE 4
Background changed to black.
Different key press, now the button gets smaller when you press it. (see preview 4)
Changed rotation.exe and now only changes clockwise and if you press again back to portrait.
UPDATE 4
I replaced some exe's that handled the connections with JMLcomm. Now it's smaller in size and flight mode and DATA on/off should work for everyone.
New GTX style
UPDATE 5
RAM Sweeper is now integrated to cab and replaces the rotation button
PREVIEW
GTX Style thanks to colossus_r
Looks good, will have to try this out.
Thanks!
This is so awesome. Thank you for sharing! And thanks to BT73, lyquidperfection, and Marcdu81 for making this simple but extremely useful add-on possible.

Got it. I was doing a short press only before. Long press definitely works as it should.
I also noticed that the window only pops up for a few seconds. Any reg tweak to make it longer or stay since the app can be exited by pressing any of the hard buttons?
Also when you press a button (icon), you can't really tell that you are pressing it right?
I forgot to add that data disconnect does not work for me. Is this the same issue as Marcdu81's HD2 Connexions? http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=6074894&postcount=101
All in all I like it and I will be using it. If I follow BT73's steps I can substitute a few buttons with ease?
good job man
Thanks

1. For the window popping out for a few seconds I haven't seen any reg entries that could change that. Although I'll try to find if there's anything we can do.
2. For the buttons not showing what you press I did it on purpose because I didn't like the result when I putted some icons. The bmp format (used by the app) looses all the transparency from the icons I use. I have something in mind and when its ready I'll post an updated cab here.
3. No it's not this problem as launching DataOnOff.exe from the action screen does not involve any shortcuts. The only shortcut to the program is written in registry and it's correct there. DataOnOff.exe can take several parameters (try running it from \windows\actionscreen folder without any parameters to see a list of available options) I use "-gprstoggle" which should toggle on and off but it doesn't work correctly to my phone either. It's only disconnecting the GPRS and not connecting it. (that's not a problem for me though as I only want it to disconnect).
Thanks for your feedback and your thoughts.
I edited my post and added that the data on/off is actually just Data OFF. It does not work for data ON. This is the same for Touch X Data Disconnect (hence, the name). Does Marcdu's work as Data On/Off or is it one-way only?

I just realized that it is also not an issue for me since if I don't have wifi, gprs will be activated automatically by whatever app that accesses it, if off.
I have an idea for the icon when pressed, the icon must already have the background as that of the action screen because of the transparency then perhaps changed it to grayscale or whatever is best for an icon when pressed. (See attached figure).
However, a plain dark background must be used like the one you are using now.

Hey thanks for the acknowledgment! I installed the v2 and there are a few kinks, the pressed icons are a bit misplaced relative to the original colored icons. I took screen shots of all the icons (zip file) so maybe you can play around with the x y positions when you have time?

Here is another suggestion. You can crop the pressed icon so that there is a little more on top (screen shot) and you can align the icon with a slight offset in the vertical direction (so it looks like it is moved downwards only when pressed, covering the icon label entirely). I attached another screen shot of what it will look like when pressed if my description does not make sense.
It's only a suggestion. You always have the option to ignore me.

Actually, I don't even know what the boot loader is for. Maybe if I do, I will choose that one since Scilor came out with this new tweak where you can use the volume key to take photos and it works for me. But it may or may not work in some phones so you probably should not include it even if you want to (and it is only version 0.1).
Silly question but in the awesome Note 3 commercial making fun of the iPhone with Lebron James they use the popup pen thing and then easily select him on the screen, add it to a background, sms it, etc. You can see some edit stuff up at the top. I tried all of the apps and none of them look like what they show. What app are they using for it?

Literally S-Note. You sure you looked through all the apps
Also, for selecting him, he held down the button on the spen and then traced around him. Then he pressed the thing that looks like a magnet in the top left to activate what is essentially a magnetic lasso.

S-note actually gives you tutorials to fully use the awesome features present in our note 3. I suggest you try them out a few times until you know how to do it yourself...
idiots
No matter how many forums I go to everyone seems to have the same "stupid" disease! If I ask how to do something it seems they give you every answer but the right one! So for all you non - idiots here is EXACTLY how you put lebron james in the sky like the commercial. And I'm not just going to tell you "it's a app!" Wow! Really?? Ok step 1- Google clouds than go to images of clouds. Than find a nice one then hold image then select save image. Then go to your gallery. Find your cloud pic and share it with your s-note.(when you share it with it s-note, it will copy pic to your s-note clipboard) Then Google "lebron dunk". Then find a nice one, hold image, than save image. Then go to gallery find your lebron dunk pic. Then remove your s-pen, hold down s-pen button as you hold s-pen on screen. Then trace around lebrons figure.(if you do it right you will see a line of dashes as you trace him) After you trace him it will give you options. At the bottom of screen share it copy figure to s-note. It will once again copy to s-note clipboard. Then go to s-note. Then click on + symbol and start a new note. Then once your in a new note there is a small pic symbol and +symbol at bottom left hand corner of page.click on that.click on images. Go to gallery then select your clouds. Then your cloud will appear then you can stretch the pic with cursors horizontally and vertically so that the cloud takes up whole page. Once you have a full cloud on screen click your pic and + symbol at bottom lefthand corner button again. Then go to clipboard. Choose your cutout of lebron james pic. It will appear on top of your clouds. You will also need to stretch lebron so he Fits nicely in your clouds. And whalla!!!!! From here you can either save it your s-note by clicking checkmark at top righthand corner of screen as a new note and rename lebron or you can go to air command and do a screen right and it will save to your gallery. And that how you do it. EXACTLY HOW!! NOT " UM ITS An AP!! OR DUH, ITS S-NOTE! NO **** SHERLOCK!!! I hope this helps.

The irony in your comment is that simply he asked what app they used and you did exactly what you said was stupid. All he needed was the name and you gave him a load of crap that wasn't even part of his question. Take your own advice to heart next time.

Ermmmm, before you go off on another one, grammar and spelling make posts easier to read! And yes, you should use 'then' rather than 'than' when describing the method used to achieve a goal.

I count 6. I go on an entire rant( for the people with an amazing vocabulary yet the brain of on orangutan, that means I went on and on about a particular subject). Wow! The only thing you got out of all that was my punctuation? Anyways, you've got to know when people ask for help, surely there has to be a better alternative(better way of doing something) than directing them to youtube or user manual???? Furthermore, saying s-note will send an average person toying for days to try and figure out how to do that. Well that is unless your a ****ing nerd and have nothing better to do than go to Starbucks and sit on your laptop and check people's grammar. And Mr Rogers, "irony and "load of crap shouldn't be used in the same paragraph. I mean you're trying to be smart but also sound like a dumb redneck at the same time. I'm just saying. And mullet mister, what kind of word is errmmmm??????I I used poor grammar and your speaking alien. Tell you what if my name was mullet mister I wouldn't be talking about anyone. Then then then then then you fix the problem then you figured something out without a custom built retarded detour than you say goodnight because you have a life and are not a devoted member of xda. Now that's 7 then's. Not counting the previous 6. (Previous- the one before) ok so I counted all my then's. Where's my note 3 ***** then? That's poor grammar and a "then" for you. 22
