Videos come out plain white while watching Youtube videos on non rooted Wildfire S! - General Topics

Hello everyone.
I have been following this site for quite a while gaining knowledge from other users but now I have come across an issue that has been answered but not for a non rooted device.
I frequently use the Youtube app on my HTC Wildfire S and have done for at least a year now and today, every time I try to watch a video, the screen is just white. Sound is still playing and Youtube becomes quite unresponsive.
I've been looking at other posts about this and some people mentioned that their camera's were plain white as well and now I have the same case.
What is going on???
Please remember:
My phone has never been rooted so it has never had any custom ROMs installed.

try to remove battery and insert it again, it work on friend with same problem..

This problem also exists on cm9 & ics you can try to go to settings -> apps -> youtube and delete data
it works for some time then you have to do it again, maybe it helps

My Omnia7 with mi7rom tango crashes while i'm playing

Hi everyone, this is my first post on this forum, and I tried to find issues like mine but I cannot find anything.
This is my problem: I flashed the rom (read the title) two days ago and it's a very nice rom, but today I installed the game squirrel (via xap) and when I played for 4/5 minutes my phone crashed and I started to see the pictures of some of my facebook friends (I've facebook in the contact list) in the whole screen, there were 10-15 profile pictures of the same friend in the whole screen. Then I tried to lock and unlock the screen and I started to see some parts of the lockscreen dragged for the whole screen.....so the only thing to do was to reboot the phone, but when I turned it on after the "samsung omnia 7", instead of the Windows Phone logo I saw the whole screen red...so I removed the battery and finally the phone turned on without any problem...After half an hour I played with Hamsta rocket (downloaded in the official marketplace) I had the same problem, but I hadn't to remove the battery....
I'm very confused because it could be a problem of the .xap file but if I saw the problem also with an original game....WHY?
Hope you are not bored by my post...I've ever had this forum like a "problem solver forum" but this time I had to write my experience because no one seems to have one like me...however, thanks in advance
You should probably be posting this in the forum thread for your specific ROM. It's definitley a ROM issue; apps don't have enough permissions to screw up the phone like that normally.

blue screen flashes while viewing or recording 720p videos

please help me , i can only flash jellytime and fallout only , because any other rom in the world have this issue which i am sure that nobody else has it ,
this issue comes when i start recording videos in hd ( 1280x720 ) or viewing them ,
note
the blue flashes are allover the screen over the player itself which indicates that this is in my phone not the vid itself , also the vid is very good when i watch it on pc ,
also 720p movies of res 480x720 do'nt have this issue
please is there a kernel or anything to do with it , i need to install the amazing sabsa 8.5 rom but the vid recording sucks :S
Why do you view it and just leave ??
Because you haven't bothered to search - this is not exactly a new problem. Of you want fully working video recording then go back to one of the GB-based ROMs as I believe this problem exists in all JB-based ROMs, although I haven't been keeping up with the Dev threads too much recently.
Also, please don't 'bump' your own thread.

I've searched in so many combination of keywords, but found only this thread.
I use an ICS based rom, not a JB-based, and I've got still this problem, even I use the "half-official" ICS RUU's rooted version... I changed to a tweaked version of this (ICE DS v5.2), and the problem is still occurring.
I don't really know why, because if there is a kernel for this phone and the whole rom created for it, not just another model's modded and ported rom, why the hell does it suck....

GB to ICS - What I lost in the Fire

I've had ICS installed on Desire S for the past week. I'm a bit disappointed at some features being missing. I was using standard GB with Sense 3.0 - nothing special.
Well here's my list of troubles - maybe someone can help me with them, or at least they'll be out there for the benefit of anyone taking the dive.
Browser no longer opens default app: Whenever I've installed a special purpose application (Wikipedia, IMDb, Google Play) and I search on the browser, I no longer get the option to open the page in its dedicated app - instead the page loads and I end up using the browser. Most of you might remember the browser on GB used to ask the standard which-app-would-you-like-to-use question, and whether you'd like it defaulted or just once, but it no longer does that.
The mail widget doesn't show the same as the app - I've got Mail configured to sync with Exchange on 6 folders. The widget has stopped showing the different folders - the app still shows them when I select "All Messages" and this was the default view on GB. I've looked for settings near and far, but can't find any to control this.
HTC Sense no longer has widgets to download: I miss the hourglass timer (countdown) and the battery widget.
Youtube widget now occupies 3x2 instead of the sleaker 4x1. Is it YouTube or Sense, I don't know - but I'm not completely satisfied by this change.
To be fair to ICS tho, I believe it's quicker and lighter on the battery - I haven't felt the common complaints of slower. Also, a browser issue that some people had complained about is non-existent in my case - Good for me!
dont know about the mail question ,, but for browser , clear data and clear defualts in setting>apps>browser,,,
htc-sense : yes it is a little wierd but unfortunately , u cant download more htc widgets on sense 3.6 ,
youtube : since i moved to ICS youtube widget is shown like this , on any ics rom,,, so its youtube, not sense
As far as I remember you can set default apps for actions somwhere in the settings. But the truth is that ICS from HTC is really annoying and battery life was worse for me than on GB.

Are you rooted ? Try this.

Before i had problems with crashing links and apps weren't opening correctly.
Now for example i click youtube video in facebook app, it opens browser loads that address and asks what app to use. Checked youtube and don't ask in future.
Now works correct ;]

The one you're talking about is in Settings > Apps association.. but that doesn't include the apps I'm installing.
Apparently the response below from remusator is the right way to go... At least it sounds right to me. I'll try it and report back.
To Root? Or not to Root? That is the question.

Its sounds very likely that this is the right solution to follow... However, I'm not rooted. Would you recommend for or against (well, I think since you're rooted you probably will recommend it) but what are potential losses from rooting. I was against early in my warranty and OTA was still an option, but I'm not sure I have a case any more. Shall I just go ahead and root?

root it now !! no risk , it is very, very easy ,, u can get rid of the stock buggy ics , and can have latest android 4.1 jellybean ! ,Sense 4 ! ur phone will be very fast and lighting , can play any HD game bceause u can overclock your cpu ! ,,, but you may lost ur warranty :silly:
You will loose your warranty, however there are methods how to put the phone in original (afaik).
Anyway, most of Desire S phones are probably out of warranty already.
Rooting doesn't exactly mean installing custom roms, btw...
But it comes hand in hand, and it means freedom. You can make whatever you like with your phone.
Rooting on gingerbread was pretty easy and straightforward.
You root only once and install custom recovery. Then you can flash every rom you like (Desire S Development section), even prerooted, so no need to root again ;]
I've started my investigation on rooting, but I'm wondering about S-on/off are those needed also. Would those be enough to modify the build.prop file? What about upgrading bootloader.
Apparently I have too many questions so if you can redirect me to a guide about all those... The 101 of everything root/bootloader etc. Is appreciate it.

You can also find a complete guide thread here. Read as much as you can before you're confident about rooting. If you follow instructions carefully and read the tips to avoid bricking your device then there is very little risk to rooting.

Quite a lot of questions about my OPO

There are some strange difficulties I'd like to solve but won't without help. The First one concerns actualisations - my current version of CyanogenMod is 12.1-20150914=NIGHTLY-bacon, soo the newest one. However I would really like to know why every two weeks when the new actualisations are available, there are always three of them? so with the one i installed came also ver 20150913 and 20150912, should all 3 of them be installed one after another?
2. Using google chrome my phone struggles to play a video from quite a number of players including liveleak, dailymotion and a few more I forgot now, if anyone knows how to fix it I'll be much obliged.
3. I think my dear friends is getting a bit senile =[ freezing once in a while (but still very rarely) and recently it rebooted in a very weird way - I got the black screen, android logo and suddenly it was on without loading (the whole process took about 5-10sec). Again the solution is greatly welcome.
4. Is the jellybean finally available on OPO? can't seem to find it
Huge thanks for all help, I appreciate it and wish you all best of luck, take care!

1. No, all three don't need to be installed, only the most recent one. I'm not sure why you're getting notifications for more than one.
2. Can't comment on this, I have no such issue.
3. There could be countless causes for this, it would be virtually impossible to give you a solution.
4. Jellybean? That's an old Android version, it's several iterations old now. This phone was released on KitKat (4.4.2). Why would anyone create a ROM based on an outdated Android version?
2. it plays a video and suddenly it freezes, sometimes the sound is still playing, sometimes the browser crushes but the video stays on my screen frozen and the sound still goes on.
4. I meant marshmallow, of course, i'm not good with these sweets names

Well Marshmallow hasn't even been released by Google yet. There's a port of a dev preview but it's by no means stable. Marshmallow will be officially released at the end of the month, then we should get some ROMs a while after that.

Software mods of any kind wreak havoc on my screen mirroring. Not the way you would!

I recently posted a few different times a query about the following problem in specific developers threads the kernels of whom I had experienced the sams problem. I made a few people frustrated because I didn't let it alone that noone was responding there. I havs come to find that it is the same on any kernel change and furthermore is the same with the stock rooted deodexed rox with stock kernel i am running now.
To save time I am going to paste here and edit from one pf my posts from the other threads....
........
I posted the question a couple of months ago if anyone else was experiencing issues when NOT JUST USING SCREEN MIRRORING, which works just fine for me, but when using screen mirroring & then employ an video streaming app (OTHER THAN YOUTUBE) like NETFLIX or hULU or HBO GO. I am getting an issue where I get sound across the stream but no video except the progress bar and volume controls. otherwise it is black screen. the menus even work fine for selecting a video but once it loads it is black, also if using HULU there is a 5 second video that introduces what series you are watching before the program starts. this will run with video but nothing but black screen +controls when program starts.
Does anyone else experience this after rooting or software modding. I am running as close to stock as I care to n920tuvs4dph2 stock deodexed rooted with stock kernel.
Next I will be reying stock with auto root. But I love some of these kernels out there and I am also inclined to keep a backup of the stock for when I want to mirror and flash kernel when I don't. But a fix would be nice.
I of course lost mirroring altogether when flashing current rom but a single line of build.prop editing rmedied that, but when trying to stream a netflix video ... BLACK.
PLEASE TEST THIS IF YOU HAVE THE TIME!
If you do not have a samsung TV or a Roku on which to test this then I encountered identical problem when trying to stream from a paid service to my laptop when using sidesync. Which I believe most anyone can test.
I would greatly appreciate your feedback on this and remember that all other elements of screen mirroring work fine except this. Alos streaming from You Tube works with video.
This particular feature fail has plagued me during whatever Spears changes i have made
Also please let me know which model phone (mine is Note 5 Tmo) you are using''
Thank you soooo much in advance!!!!
Found an answer HERE I had come across the fix of disabling hdcp in build.prop but didn't know own what it really meant. Basically hdcp is DRM or copyright protection and when you alter your stock software the apps that use hdcp will not function properly. There is no current or expected fix.
