Xperia Arc (LT15i) Andoid 4.04 root - General Questions and Answers

This a question about rooting an Xperia Arc (LT15i) recently upgraded to Android 4.04 using PC companion.
I have tried a number of methods to root my phone. I appears that all of the excellent software and guides (Doomlord etc) do not work if you have Andoid 4.04. I have tried to flash a rootable version of 4.04, or 4.03, but this does not work, or have not found the correct method. Most of the files that are supposed to do this do not have .tft extensions so flash does not accept them.
I have 2 specific questions:
1) Has anyone successfully downgraded 4.04 to a rootable version? If so I would really appreciate specific (simple!!) help.
2) Any news that Doomlord, or another expert, is making a one click method to root on 4.04?
I hate bloatware!!!
Lastly, I have considered using some of the custom Roms, like Ice Cream Pureness, but I'm not experienced enough to get this installed!
Thanks in advance.

[Q] Xperia Ray Questions (downgrading firmware)

Hi people,
I'm very new to Android and xda forums and I've got a question to ask.
I upgraded my fairly new Xperia Ray (stock unrooted) from 2.2.3 to 2.2.4 recently and would like to downgrade it back to 2.2.3 because of the lack of CRT effect and also the new firmware seems to drain battery life a lot more. From the research I've done on these forums,
1. can I download the generic world 4.0.A.2.368 ftf file and using flashtool to do it?
2. also, after flashing to the generic world 2.2.3 firmware, will the stock operator bloatware be removed? or do I have to root my phone to do so?
3. the bloatware from my operator can be uninstalled but somehow they auto-reinstall on reboot all the time. is this normal?
Thanks in advance for any help & answers.
Cheers!

Hot to downgrade my mini pro sk17i from ICS 4.0.4 to GB 2.3.4

Hi experts,
Purely i'm new to this blog and also the android platform. I don't even know about unlocking bootloader and all that stuff (just heard my friends saying). I have an xperia mini pro sk17i and was having GB 2.3.4 at the time of purchasing. Now when official update for ICS 4.0.4 had came,i updated without knowing that it will affect my xperia's performance. Now i started getting lags in games which was very smothly running in previous OS (GB). I would like to switch back to GB and want to root ( also from my friends conversation) the GB.
I need a complete guide for this because i should not end in a brick state, whether to do an unlock bootloader, or flash it, which tools to use and all.... Kindly help me guys.......

Maybe this is Stock but it is 2.3.4 and is stable but you have to unlock bootloader
You need not unlock the bootloader to downgrade. Just use flashtool and get your GB ROM. Have a look at here http://mytechencounters.wordpress.com/2012/03/17/root-your-xperia-phone-without-voiding-warranty

[Q] i5081 never been updated

Hi all.
I have watched the NOOB Video. I have scoured the forum. I have looked at other Android sites. I,m at a loss.
I have recently been given an old stock GT-I5801 that was never updated and network locked to Orange. To be able to use the phone I unlocked it. I gave my rooted xperia x8 running a hacked 2.2 to my son, as I read that the I5801 had an official Froyo 2.2 update. I installed KIES, updated as requested when first running the software, and it doesn't recognise the phone. I tried uninstalling/re-installing KIES and not updating it, I found that the phone had two Home screens (orange and TwLauncher) I tried connecting using both.
I have found instructions on how to put the official firmware update on not using KIES but the links to the firmware its self are broken.
I decided to update to a Android system 2.3.7 / CyanogenMod 7.2, however the instruction require I root it, the instructions to root are for Froyo 2.2
I'm going around in circles, I'm at a loss. can any one point me in the right direction to get at least Froyo 2.2 official on this phone. Thanks.
P.S. I may of ignored the part in the NOOB video that tells us to be brief...........sorry.
Just flash cm7 or any rom with odin, check the flashing guide in sticky thread.

Well if that's the only way, would been nice to have a fully working 2.2 rather than a hack with issues. I'll go look into the least problematic one, cant be any worse than 2.1 stock.

GT-I5801 has indeed been updated to Froyo and Froyo is one of the more stable firmware/ROM for our mobile.
You can download any stock Froyo ROM of your wish from the link http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1497261.
Esle, you can look up to this thread to use any of the Custom ROMs which have better features than stock ROMs http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1234591
I prefer Kisadworx or PuruKisadHybrid.
Download Kyrillos rom or any rom flashable via Odin. Just flash it no need to root as many roms are prerooted.

[Q] Rooting Xperia Mini

Hi everyone. I'm new in this website and I REALLY need your help. I want to root my cell phone (xperia mini st15i), and I want if possible to give me a trustworthy video so I can root it step by step. The reason of this thread is having a video from you guys that I know I can trust. My build number is 4.1.B.0.587 Kernel version is 2.6.32.9-perf and I'm using Android 4.0.4. Hope that you'll help me and not being pain in the ass. Thanks!
There's a sub forum for xperia mini. Better to ask it in there. I had the same device one year ago. Easiest way is unlocked the bootloader and install a CWM added kernel and flash superSU zip file. There are many ways to root it without unlocking bootloader.

Rooting Xperia L 4.2.2

Hi community, I have flashed Android 4.2.2 Generic World FTF using Flashtool to my Xperia L C2105, now I want to root it, but I don't know, how to do it. I have found this topic: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2307983 and there is reference to thread with 4.2.2 root, but I can't go on this webpage, there is some error.
Can somebody give me some tutorial how to root XL working on Android 4.2.2, or explain me?
I have also found Motochopper method, somebody told me that it is right way to root my phone, but I'm not sure because I have read somewhere that Motochopper works only on some Motorola devices.
Maybe I will sell my phone in 3-4 months so I'll need a warranty back, so there should be a way to unroot the phone.
Sorry for my english
Thanks for help, greetings.
The methods that exist to root 4.2.2 firmware on Xperia L are considered unsafe :-/ Therefore the page was removed by xda's mods
And the motochopper method you read about was meant for android 4.1
To unroot you can always restore your device to original firmware, using pc companion, Sony Update Service or flashtool
Ok, thanks. When you say, that root on 4.2.2 is unsafe, do you mean that I won't be able to flash soft back at all? But does some method to root 4.2.2 exists?

Unsafe means those software are suspected to be malicious, more info http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=46246819&postcount=1
Okay, thanks. Someone can close the thread, nvm, I'll wait till there will appear some safe and working way to root.
Thank you all.

You can try this method...root 4.2
Rooting using Kingoroot and vroot is risky.. It and IMEI number of your device to their server in China.. And we don't know what it does.. So be careful and don't use these 2 methods
