Hello
I was going through the system folder (stock deodexed UCLF6) in root explorer and came across this file :
/system/lib/libxt_native.so
What caught my attention is that ALL the permissions for other files in this directory are set to "rw-r--r--" exept this one ... which has the full permissions rwrrwwrww "or such"
Can somebody check the permissions for this file in their ROM ?
Is it normal for this lib file to have all pemissions ?
Thanks

Simple as that.
Goes for HTC EVO 3D too, as well as any 540×960 android phone.
Animation ported from "Google齿轮" MIUI theme.
Make it:
/system/customize/resource/bootanimation.zip, or
/system/customize/resource/TMOUS_bootanimation.zip, if you have a T-Mobile Sensation, or
/system/customize/resource/VF_bootanimation.zip, if you have a Vodafone Sensation.
nice one.... thanks
Thanks a lot for this.
Just renamed the current bootanimation.zip file, copied this one into its place, rebooted and it's working fine.
Cheers!
Seems i can't copy the zip file to the system folder.
Got an error about "read only"!
What am i doing wrong?
(sorry about bad english, i'm dutch!)

permissions?
Yeah i think it has something to do with permissions but I don't know how I can change this.
Tried to Google it but couldn't find it.
Ps. Using ASTRO to copy the files.
Sent from my HTC Sensation Z710e using XDA App
Use es file explorer from market (better than astro imho). Put on root option and mount system as writable. Then you can rename original bootanimation.zip and place new as bootanimation.zip. if you don't like new one, delete bootanimation.zip and rename original to bootanimation.zip

Thanks for the info m_speksnijder, with ES Explorer it works!
New bootscreen looks great!
I think I am going mad I have flashed 4.1.7 and cant seem to find where to put the boot amimation? I thought I would have to replace one that is already there? sorry if a stupid question but if you can help it would be great
I have something caled downanimation in system/customize/resource but that is the only zip file in there, do I just to copy this file to this directory and reboot?

Using ES file explorer. Put on root? Do you mean root your device? If that case, I am rooted, and all that.
But I can't find System folder :S
Open ES, hit menu button, scroll down to "root options" section, turn on both options (root explorer and mount file system), exit menu, klik on the blue star on the left in de topbar and click on the "phone" icon. Then navigate to "system/customize/resource" or "data/local" (depends on the rom your using). than follow my earlier post. If you're done, turn of the option "mount file system" just to be sure you do not delete anything when scrolling around in your system partitions.

And what happens if I accedentaly delete something when scrolling down?
Thanks works like a charm. I change permissions just in case.

Attached Google Talk files that worked for me (from TouchWiz 1.0.2 ROM). Put the lib file into /system/lib and the apk into /system/app. Change perms to 744.

I am trying to follow these instructions however I can not find the /system/lib and /system/app folders. The Google Talk stock app vanished when I flashed TCP's rom on the phone, so I am trying to reinstall it this way, since it is not on the market.
Where are these files usually located? Do I need to format my files differently or something?
/system/app
/system/lib
ANYTHING that is not /mnt/sdcard (/sdcard) or /ext-sd requires ROOT access and an app that will look at ROOT
ES File explorer or root explorer
you WILL NOT see these folders by just plugging into your computer, nor will you see it with basic file managers

Thanks for the help,
Ok i downloaded ASTRO file manager, but when i try to paste into the app folder it gives me an error message that I have a read only file system...
Make sure you have r/o where it says r/o or r/w. this way you can paste it.

I know I'm VERY! late with this answer, but I have to correct you. With zArchiver (file-explorer and zip/7-zip app) you can access androids system folders. On a S III mini I can copy the ringtones/notification-sounds or the start sound( on the micro-SD-card for example). It is possible to copy other files too, but that didn't make any sense for me. btw: phone is not rooted.
P.S. Also worked on a non-rooted Huawei Y 625 @ Android 4.4.2 . Of course I can not copy files INTO the system folder(s) but read-acces is definitely possible without root permissions.

Access to /data is forbidden in Android unless you have root access.
/system is read only, and limited.
My quote from above did say you wouldn't see any of these from a computer. And the OP was trying to place files in /system, which is read only.
Is there some reason you felt the need to bring up a 3 year old thread to say I'm wrong, when in this thread, regarding the original post, I am 100% correct?
I Want To Add New Boot Animation. I Download One With Zip File I Want To Paste It In System/media Folder. With Root Explorer I Am Not Able To Delete Old File Or Paste New File Or Change Permission. Please Help.
There should be a setting to mount R/W in Root Explorer if I remember correctly...then you should be able to change permissions.
I Checked Everything. Nothing Happens.
Solved : I Download An App Called Mount /System From Playstore And It Worked. Thanks A Lot

I had the same issue, i used this >> https://app.box.com/s/z0a12rt18gm3dtfqqndl
I got it from stock odexed 4.4.2 rom here on xda and please check the sha1sum of the file, it should be 1A008709F0945E8EACA2166D143622EB8D94C3D0
Otherwise the updater script wont install the update, also use es file explorer or any root explorer to replace the file and set permissions to chmod 755 and shell access, more info here - http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=48333174#post48333174

Just use es file Explorer, cut the file in ur system/bin/debuggerd and take its backup on sdcard, then paste the given file, change the permissions to the one's like given in the second post here - http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=48353992#post48353992
You should be having root access in es file Explorer with partition mounted as r/w

Okay, so one of the issues currently with the leaked firmware is that some apps (e.g titanium backup, file explorers, etc) cannot save files to the extsdcard due to a incorrect parameter in the platforms.xml
So here is the fix:
Method 1
1.) Download the extsdcardfix-flashable.zip below and save to sdcard
2.) Reboot to recovery (CWM/TWRP)
3.) Flash the zip
4.) Reboot
Method 2
1.) Download the platform.xml.zip attatchment and extract
2.) Navigate to ~/system/etc/permissions
3.) Replace the platforms.xml with this one
4.) Set permissions as RW-R--R-- (644)
5.) Reboot and test if apps now have access to external storage
And NOTE this may or may not work so do so at your own risk!

Eh? those permissions not equivalent. Which should it be ?
rwxrwxrwx == 777
rw-r--r-- == 644
I set permission as the original file was...
rw-r--r-- == 644

I use "ES File Explorer". The best Tool for Filemanipulation (copy, paste, delete) I know.
Can You upload me original platform.xml? I change file and i have error...
after i replaced file i missed that permissions changed... then i had to reset default to get everything working :/ bluetooth stopped working and i had terrible glitches and freezes.. even when i changed to 644... so secont time i just added media_rw line by editing permissions.xml and now it worked flawlessly
I noticed that even now when i have rw acces to sdcard not everything is working as in 4.3 - for example solid explorer does not see by default external sdcard :/ but it is only beta so i can live with it
Works like a charm!
Thx for this
Works. thank you so much

I had problem before with Sygic, now, everything works just fine..
Thank you very much!!!
Works perfect! This is what I needed to really give CM a try.
I was able to get my Go Backup file and restore my apps.
Sorry,
But how can I do the step 4?
I changed the file, but I don't know how change these permissions...
Could someone explain it to me, please?
Ps.: sorry for bad english.

What explorer are you using? On most of them you just have to long press the file and it will display the menu option (copy, move, delete, PERMISSIONS).
Click on permissions and you will find where to check the option you need to make RW-R-R.
I use Root Explorer by the way.
Ok,
So I change only the permissions of platforms.xml file?
Is that right?
