Trying to root my Inspire for the first time using Bubby's SuperOneClick method.
However, I am getting an error message during the install telling me "Main Version is old! Update Fail!"
If anyone has had this same problem or knows of a way to fix this and continue the rooting process it'd be much appreciated!
Thanks!
I don't think its updated and won't root gingerbread if you're on it so you'll have to use the hack kit

You could also use the DHD downgrade folder I would post the thread but I can't for some reason you can search its floating around this forum somewhere

Update: After searching for a new way to root with GB installed, I need a lil help on which method is best to go about rooting. Thanks in advance.
I could not get this file down "RUU_Saga_HTC_Thailand_1.35.1113.2_Radio_20.28d.30. 0805U_3805.04.02.01_M_release (omit).filefactory.com/file/cbce...327_signed.exe" as I am in China.
Even I used a proxy link, failed again.
Could anyone get me a valid link, THANKS IN ADVANCE!!

I have had my HTC One X for AT&T for a week now. I noticed that paulobrien has found a way to root the One X. Unfortunately when I go to htcdev.com I get this message while trying to unlock my bootloader.
"We're sorry, but it appears your attempt to unlock the bootloader on this device has failed. This could be caused by several factors including simple errors in the entry of the unlock token, problems with your device, or a lack of manufacturer support for the unlocking process. Please see the specific error code listed below, and try again if necessary.
Error Code: 160.
Error Reason: MID Not Allowed."
I remember getting this message with the HTC Vivid.

I also get this error when attempting to unlock the bootloader. Any ideas?
you cannot unlock bootloader yet for AT&T, it's known fact right now. root is independent of the bootloader too, so just cuz we have root doesn't automatically let you unlock bootloader. just give it some time, maybe in a month or so.
I thought it wasn't possible to unlock if you was on ATT

it's not possible. all we have at the moment is root, we'll have a bootloader unlock in some time i'm sure, either sanctioned or unsanctioned.

Give a man a fish vs teach a man to fish.
Sorry about your cancer. You might want to get that looked at..
But, it turns out that it wasn't working because of my OTA update to 2.2.. So even the tutorials in the development section won't work until someone figures how to get behind the new update.
Just thought everyone should know!
Also, I know how to search, I just wanted one of you guys to do it for me. Thanks!

Did you even read how to unlock a 2.20 htc one x?
Did you read the 3000 threads here on how to do it?

ok i will as soon as i can
Unlock tokens are extremely sensitive. Why do you think HTCDev takes security precautions?
Anyone who steal your phone can use your token > unlock = factory wipe and sell your phone.
well after much frustration i unlocked my bootloader and rooted thanks everyone for your help i guess it was something wrong with the servers on the site.I tried 2-3 times and got the same error invalid token but the 4th time i tried again and was succesful
i can't get to unlock bootloader!!!!!!!!! whenerver i enter the token it says "404 page not found"
Keep trying. Even i faced a problem. It said, "Invalid Token Length".
I tried once again, all worked fine.
Errors occur sometime, need not worry.

This is the answer. HTC Dev is not helpful in the rooting process. It makes things harder than they need to be and it let's HTC track that you have rooted the phone so you can't claim warrenty.

i got the answer from HTCdev:
My name is Enrique and I am a Technical Support Agent for the HTC Written Team.
I'm sorry to hear that you are experiencing difficulties with this process.
The reason for this is that during the last few days it was possible to experience short time outages in services provided via web page www.htcdev.com.
To receive the unlocking file, I would like you to perform the following steps:
1. Please check spam box in your email.
2. Please try to unlock your bootloader using different email address to receive the unlocking file.
3. Try to unlock the bootloader again during the next couple of days.
I am confident that this will resolve your query, in the unlikely event that this does not please call or instant chat to one of our Technical Support Agents who will be waiting to guide you through step by step.
