What's a good tablet for root users? - General Questions and Answers

I get paid on my bday and I'm thinking about getting a tablet but I'm not sure which one i should get, mainly for custom roms.
Any suggestions?
Long ago in an EPIC GALAXY far, far away, this message was sent using xda premium, and it just got here.

Would hugely recommend the motorola xoom, loads of custom roms and mods, check out the forums and see - http://forum.xda-developers.com/forumdisplay.php?f=945

When installing the keyboard to system/app are you also pushing the lib file to system/lib? May be worth a try.

whats wrong with the gingerbread keyboard? there are many themes for it too.
Some people feel the multitouch of the DX keyboard is more responsive and key size and spacing are better for those big thumbs.

Again I have a stock Nexus S, I really plan on leaving it like this until another Google update or maybe the next version of CM update. As of now though is there a, method to get the Droid X keyboard on a stock unrooted device?

I dont know if someone engineered a data/app apk or not. May take some searching but to the best of my knowledge they're all flashable or pushable packages for rooted devices.

I had tried flashing the keyboard from the Droid X Gingerbread leaks but it alwsyd brings me a force close when I am about to use it. Why is no one porting this? I really loved the Droid X keyboard on my Vibrant.

The thing is most of these keyboards were ported to froyo. I haven't seen any porting of the gingerblur keyboard yet. Did you try the lib file as I had recommended?

A word of caution: PA is like crack - once you get the DPIs set up the way you like all other ROMs lose their appeal!

[Q] Roms etc.

I recently purchased the galaxy s3 and am quite happy with it, put adw launcher pro made a few tweaks got the jellybean update and am satisfied with everything it does.
My question is what is the need for flashing new Roms or rooting the device? What is the purpose and benefits?
I'm new to all of this and would love some briefing!

What tablet to get?

Looking for a new 7-8 inch tablet and don't know what to get. I'm in the US and I want something top of the line and new. Other than the nexus 7 2013 what should I get?

If you don't want something from Asus, your next best bet is probably a Samsung Galaxy 3. That said, I have a Galaxy 3 and my wife has a Nexus 7, and I definitely prefer the Nexus 7.
Waiting for my Nexus 7 to arrive

Thanks! Is this thing still pretty active? Would just like to get a nice stable custom ROM set up...

Not really much, we have cm11 but without working cameras that's in general named some things for the ltet217s which is really about it. Theyres a custom touchwiz ROM from mijah that's really just themed and that's about it...

I cant even get odin without some other bs. You got a clean zip?
Sent from my SM-T217S using Tapatalk
Check out the nocturnal rom once you get rooted. It's themed and runs really smooth that and it's one of the only ones available. This is definitely not the most popular tab out there but it's pretty solid. I have no complaints and I'm used to the best of the best when it comes to Android phones. Plus it's another device to root and play around with. Sorry I don't have an odin, but I'm pretty sure there is one in the development section. Samsung devices are pretty easy to root, probably the easiest out there.
