hello WhatsApp worked until yesterday but today it gave me problems despite being installed does not send nor receive messages ... is there a way to make it work as before? sorry for my bad english,i used google translate because i'm italian
May be setting/applications/whatsup and delete data
Or use app like android assistant and delete cash
Or try to sign out then sign in again
Or Uninstall app then reinstall again
Send bug report to developer
Reboot after every attempt

Hi,
I recently got my Nexus 5 and tried to activate whatsapp in the device.
I'm able to install the app, but when I type my number and click "OK", I'm getting an error message saying that
"Unable to connect. Please check that you are connected to the internet and try again. Please reboot your phone if your connection problem persists"
I tried rebooting the device multiple times, uninstalled and installed the app and also tried installing the app from the whatapp site, but the issue still exists.
I tried sending the SMS to my own number thru Hangouts and i'm able to receive it successfully.
Please let me know if there is anything that I'm missing here. or let me know any other troubleshooting steps.
Thanks in Advance!

No worry mate..
do this.
Uninstall the whatsapp and install it from play store, DONT OPEN the app.
tether your friends data(internet)and then open the app and do the settings.
This happens due to bad signal or poor internet connection. I faced the same issue.
Press thanks if I helped you.

If he'd be on ART the app wouldn't even open and it would FC. So I suppose he is on dalvik.

I have tried ART & Dalvik as well,
In ART, I'm not even able to open the already installed whatsapp and update from Play as well is getting failed.
In Dalvik, I'm getting this problem.
Also, My data connection seems stable as I'm able to browse and update apps from Play store.
Lemme know if I'm missing any thing here.

Facing force closes with art and whatsapp. given its the only app broke after the switch, im falling in love with viber.I will not go back to dalvick, the phone with art seems so much smoother and fast!!! before making my contacts move torward whatsapp alternatives, I just wrote to whatsapp an email asking if a fix is about to come.

Whatsapp isn't broken anymore on ART. You have to uinstall it first and install it fresh from the store.

Yeah man I had that yesterday... Even the older versions of whatsapp (50) didn't install after I had read that they worked. I had to hard reset cause when I switched back to dalvik the install was still giving me problems.

This problem only occurs for whatsapp ? that's strange..
yep strange, have over 80 apps installed and whatsapp is the only one witg art issue

It's because you turn on the developer option
The format is solution for your problem

anyone want to use art and whatsapp, try purity rom. whatsapp works with art enabled, even all my apps that previously didn't work now working great. (md.emu, snes9x)
authentication done, but...
Now the whatsapp login issue is fixed on my Nexus 5,
I used my friends 3G as hotspot and was able to perform authentication.
But still(on 2G), I'm not able to send or receive any chats.
Any feasible solution for this?
It must be your carrier blocking it? Because it works fine on 2g here, I just checked.

Uninstall and reinstall
May be uninstalling and reinstalling the google play services app should solve this issue.
I was also having the same problem and did the following :
1. Open app settings
2. Goto and open settings for Google play services
3. Uninstall updates
It said that it was a device administrator so I removed it from administrators, you may not encounter the same. It also said that do you want to recover factory version to which I said yes. It has been fine since.
I am using Samsung Galaxy S4 gt-i9500 with cyanogenmod 11 nightly
Dear all,
Something strange is happening since I have installed a new ROM in my phone. Once I install the Facebook app, and insert username/password, there is a pop up that states that I will receive an SMS with a confirmation code, but it never appeared.
Does any one of you guys have a solution for this?
Thank you in advance for your help!
Sam
Try to un and re-install! In the future, use Titaniumbackup for all your apps.. Saves you alot of trouble.

Hi. Thanks, but done that with no sucess.
Do you know which folders are kept after uninstalling FB? Maybe there is some information there that is broken and if I could delete it it would be solution.
Thanks for the help.

hi, I'm italian then sorry my english
I have root permissions and i unistalled the stock messaging(aosp) apk because i have also hangout but i think that i have cleaned a system file because I can't sent sms in hangout in fact when i try to type a text message the application quits. I try to install message app from playstore and the problem is there too.
how can I fisx it?
Maybe not the solution you want, but this Modified Stock Messaging app should work:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/android/apps-games/app-stock-messaging-sliding-ui-extra-t2825144
You can just re-flash (dirty flash) the whole rom, that's the easiest option.
In bocca al lupo,

Hi guys,
Quick question... I got this phone three days ago... I rooted it mostly to delete some of the bloatware... The thing is, I tried to delete the apps on the system folders, but it won't allow it... It returns an error message saying it is not possible to delete the files...
Anyone knows why this is happening and if there's a workaround?
Thanks!!!

why uninstall system applications,it is not recommended either one developers that is risky.
try this application work good.Make sure the app you are going to uninstall is not a system app.
Code:
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=zsj.android.systemappremover&hl=en
install and Open Root app delete on your android phone and,Tap on System apps and tap on Pro when prompted to choose from Junior or Pro mode.
Scroll through the list of system apps and tap on any of the apps which you want to be removed from your phone.
Next tap on Uninstall to remove the unwanted app and again tap on OK to confirm your selection.
In case the app cannot be remove properly, you will see the following error. Tap on OK and then tap on #1 to force uninstall the app.
Now the unwanted app / bloatware will be removed from your android phone.
What!!!!!!!??!????

What version are you running? How did you get root?
Hi guys...
First of all, the "What???" wasn't meant for this post, for some strange reason when I replied on another forum post it did here... I'm really sorry about that...
Anyway... The phone was bugging and the root wasn't working right, that's why I wasn't able to delete the apps... I wasn't trying to delete system apps, but things like Google+ which I don't use at all...
Anyway, I'm on a D2306 from Brazil... I flashed the 4.4.2 global to get rid of the carrier apps, but I probably did something wrong while flashing and rooting it, so it was't working... I reflashed it yesterday and did the root again and it worked flawlessly...
I deleted the integrated apps I don't use and the phone is perfect now...
Thanks for all the help...
That's first thing I also do after rooting. There is so much delivered with the phone, and not few of it completely useless to me.
I think the advice not deleting system apps, hmmm .... what is a system app? Sony Home? SystemUI ? Or Google+, Gmail, Maps, Sony Select, ... all in system and unremovable without root. I understand that we need to be protected from doing harm to the phone we bought. But still I think the phone should come with a kind of admin function or semi-root to remove what is not needed. As it is it has more the smell of forcing people to using certain things.
For other apps I have different needs than what is supplied. I am lucky I can change things. As examples, for email I can use a normal email program such as K9, for sms I can use an sms messenger that actually does give repeat notifications, such as Evolve, QuicPic to me is the superior Album at 1/10 of the size, for navigation and maps I use Mapfactor bcs it has real offline navigation, and so on and on.
