I have tried team eos nightlies 132,139,141, Codename android 3.4.0, and cm10 experimental versions. In every case there are laggy transition animations such as when entering and exiting an app. This only happens to me in jellybean as cm10 and team eos 2 were fine. I normally don't over clock, but I tried over clocking to 1400 and the problem still occurs. The same happens on an other Xoom that I have tried so I don't think this is just me. Is there a solution?, are others getting the same problem? Thanks
P.S I am comparing the lagginess to my single core 1 ghz xperia play which doesn't lag at all on cm10
You can change the transition scale in developer options to .5 and that should help. I always switch mine to .5 or .75. The .75 isn't available on all ROMs though.

Thanks, but that doesn't real.y solve the problem... Are you saying that you have the problem too?
On other devices, not my Xoom.

Change it all to .5x
Window animation scale
Transition animation scale
Animator duration scale
That should fix your issue.

That is more usable than upping it to 5x, but the problem still occurs . Would the disable hardware overlays do anything, or force gpu rendering?

I'm sure everyone has by now seen the cool animation that Gingerbread uses when the screen is turned off. What if the same animation was played in reverse when turning the screen on? Is such a thing even possible? To me it does seem a bit strange that this animation is only played when turning the screen off, because real CRT's used to do the same thing both when turning on and turning off.
If it is possible, I'd love to see it implemented. Further on down the line as an added bonus, I also think it'd be cool to replace the animation for launching or closing an app with a CRT style flicker, similar to what happened when you changed the channel on an old TV.
Edit: Looks like most custom ROMs are already way ahead of me for the screen on animation. Good work!
This is on CM7...
(except its really not as good as you'd think)

LeoGinger v0.8.4 has this implemented for both screen OFF and screen ON animations. Here is the link for ROM if you want to flash it and check it out: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=10518585&postcount=1
Okay, that's cool that CM7 has it. What about other CRT style animations for the transitions? Something similar to the Pip Boy 3000 from Fallout 3 would be awesome.

I think he/she meant lies in that it is cool, as in so cool he turned the screen on and off repeatedly to watch it.

[BUG] No CRT Lock animation if "Window Transition" in Spare Parts is "Fast"
I don't think I can be much more clear than the title. I just installed Apex 6.4, and went to change the speed of the phone's animations to how I like them using the Spare Parts app. Now, I can set the Transition Animation to however I like with no ill effects. However, changing the "Window Animation" causes the CRT-Off animation to stop working whenever you lock the phone.
I realize this is a terribly minor issue, but I didn't find the Spare Parts thread, and I apologize if this is in the wrong section
and the screen on effect will be affected by the transition speed.....

Your problem is that the animation for screen off only works at one speed. If you change the speed it no longer will work right. That app was made before the animation was added so it might not work with it. So you can either leave them or lose the screen off.
I changed the speeds to "fast" and lost the animation.
I wondered how i lost that feature. Thanks!
Hello,
I recently replaced my TF201 (Transformer Prime) with a TF700 from BestBuy.
I am impressed with how many problems they fixed, such as GPS, WiFi, and also impressed with the full HD screen!
The one main issue that bothers me is certain animations seem to stutter and are generally much slower than my TF201 was. I am even comparing it to two TF300 in front of me (one on ICS, one on JB) and the TF300's animations are so much more fluid and responsive.
1) One that is very apparent is screen rotation. If I am on the stock launcher with the default wallpaper with default icons and widgets if I change orientation it takes a long time to actually start changing orientation and the animation is not fluid and stutters. If I do the same thing with a TF300 in front of me the the time it takes to start changing orientation is 3 times faster, and the animation is completely fluid - I cannot see any stuttering or framerate drops.
2) Certain menu transitions have the same stuttering problem (although not as obvious since the transitions are fast). Pressing System Firmware Update is an example.
3) Also occasionally using certain Live Wallpapers (such as ASUS DayScene) will cause the Recent Apps menu to stutter a lot.
I just want to see if it is all TF700's that suffer this issue or if it is just mine.
I am running locked, stock OS, and rooted. Also have latest version from ASUS.
If anyone can test the scenarios I mentioned above and reply to this post it would be greatly appreciated.
Thank you!
I disabled the "Turn over to mute" and "Turn over to activate" settings under Settings > Gestures and i would swear my phone is actually performing better than what it was. Can anyone confirm this for me?
It could be a placebo but I notice it. I had already turned off flip to snooze on mine but left flip to mute on. I had lag when changing from Chrome back to the Homescreen prior to turning off the flip to mute setting. After turning it off it did not lag. In an attempt to recreate the issue I cleared the memory and did it again with no apps running in the background as a baseline and had lag with flip to mute on vs off when going from Chrome back to the homescreen. Also tested it when opening and scrolling through the app drawer. I can't wait for 5.1 update, if it comes...
After switching to Apex launcher, and turning off the other two gestures in the Settings, I have had no instances of missed double taps. It was pretty reliable to begin with, but yes, I was noticing some drops. But those are now gone.
I know everyone is complaining of UI lag - which is indeed present. However I decided to do a more real world test. I loaded up WatchESPN, OSMonitor, Play Store,
Gmail, Firefox (with Engadget open), Two camera apps, Hangouts, Play Newsstand, HBO Go, Google Photos, ES File Explorer, N7 Music Player, YouTube and MX Player. After loading all these up one after another, I started Nokia Here Maps - and asked it to locate an address on the other side of town and compute point to point directions to it. It took what seemed like a blink of an eye, and it was back with the route. I then turned WiFi off ( so that it cannot hand over the task to a server in the cloud ) , and asked it to compute another route, and again it was back within a second, with multiple route alternatives. So - to me - this is a more real life use case - I will actually be using the device a lot in this fashion - and for that - it is performing quite well. In general I have noticed that the UI lag does not get worse with the number of apps loaded. So when it come to real heavy lifting, I think the device is doing pretty well .
There is a YouTube video out there today, which is claiming that the Alcatel did better than a Galaxy S6 in running multiple 3D games simultaneously. I will myself never play any games on this device . For my applications - I find the performance satisfactory. Of course, this clearly has all the 5.0 performance issues, which I am hoping will clear up with 5.1 / 5.2 update.
You may want to go under developer options and try things such as disabled the animation scales or lowering them from 1.0 to .5 and possibly enabling gpu decoding of 2d content.....disabling the animation will give the ui response a bit of snappiness.
If you are running nova launcher it has it's own animation settings under "look and feel" and you can choose the "faster than light" option....I disable all the animations...I'm interested in gettings things done..not gimicks and "flash". I'm sure apex has similar settings.

I already have animations down to 0.5 - I am not touching anything else there. Apex has a setting to speed up some animations as well.
What is a good way to test the browser ? I am using Firefox - with adblock plus.

When the phone is rooted I'll use adaway....what exactly do you want to "test"? I use lightning+ browser(lightning browser (without the +) is free) which is always nice and snappy.
I've found, that turning of the OS "vibrate" on tap functions seems to have improved performance for me. At the very least it feels better. I feel like i was getting 2 different vibrations when using keyboard, and it would double tap things by accident as a result. You also need to independently turn off vibration on the keyboard if you want it gone completely.
Has anyone noticed that transition animation scale keeps on reverting back to 1x after it has been set to 0.5x ? Does this qualify as a bug ? Or is there something I am missing ?
BTW - even with the third party launcher, I am getting unresponsive double-tap ( wake only ) occasionally, and unset/set the option always brings it back. This is something that Alcatel should be able to fix - clearly a software issue.

Never had that problem, I've been using nova prime and double tap to wake works perfectly.

Hey everyone,
I recently upgraded my S10e to Android 10 over official OTA. I am running stock FW without root or unlocked bootloader.
I am experiencing a weird "bounce" animation when I swipe in and out of recent apps (except from the Home application). I am using the latest Android 10 animations in the nav settings as you can see in the screenshots.
Can you please take a look in the video recording and let me know if you see the same?
I have set my animation scale to 0.5 under dev settings btw.
Thank you!

Having the same, pal
How are you animation speed options set in Developer options? I've read somewhere that setting them too low on Android 10 causes these glitches.

Excellent catch. It was actually due to the "Animator duration scale". After I changed it to 1.0, the glitch is gone.
Thanks a lot!
