the only thing i want to know is which phone has the best development on roms and generaly everywhere?
Stop with these threads. Enough. They both run ROMs. They both have a good amount of development.
you could just say both and finish there and not to be so rude to me .
And you can use the search function like the rules say and dig up one of a hundred threads with the same title and the same questions that end in the same flamewar.
Please see the sticky in this section for such questions. Closed.

I have in the last few months purchased a htc desire to replace my motorola dext (cliq).
With my previous phone I have plenty of modding experience (if anyone knows anything about the cliq they'll understand)
But due to the rules here I am unable to offer my advice and knowledge wih rom issues, of which there have been a few with desire roms.
If any mods read this, can you please remove the restrictions in place on my account, so I can participate actively in the htc desire development section, and be able to help out fellow modders.
Regards
Ryan

Running in to the same issue with Xoom.
I've been working on this for over a year but I can't post cuzz of the newb rulls.
As far as I'm concerned we're all here to learn from others and let others learn from ourselves.
This is the only android forum I've come across with this ridiculous rule in place, restricting the sharing of knowledge because I'm deemed too " inexperienced".
Just because I'm new too XDA obviously means I'm new too android as well. Its a joke.

Guys, it is so easy just post 10 postings (you can do that in an hour) and all restrictions are removed. It is easy as saying in a posting "i agree" or " wow, interesting" do 10 pointless postings and you are good to go
Thanks for the advice, but its not really the point.

Don't make pointless and meaningless posts outside of Off-Topic.
Also, try to contribute
I am in the same boat wanted to post but I guess Ill need 9 more
interesting
interesting ;-)
the only posting limit before 10 posts is development areas. (about 1/6 of the forums)
if you are a developer, use you vast knowledge to help 10 people
if you have a question about something in development ask your question in Q&A
but search first. it is better to reply to a pre-existing thread than to start a new one!
(this thread case in point)
there is no reason to complain or spam post " i agree "
Interesting! (sorry, needed 1 more)

That rather highlights the foolishness of having a 10-post restriction. Just about anyone will look at this and go, okay, let's just post 10 worthless messages and get around the restriction. In the end it does nothing to promote a better quality of user while at the same time clogging up the general forums with messages that are a complete waste of time and disk space. Like this one.
10 post restriction
I agree totally!
9 more to go!
And now theres people wanting to change off-topic to also having the 10 post restriction? I dont get it

Loving this forum,

Am I supposed to get to ten posts when I don't have any questions, and I'm not allowed to post in the Dev forums.
I created this account for the sole purpose of giving feedback and helping people in android dev forums, and I can't do that until I have ten posts. *meh*
Got the same problem dude

How about answering some questions in here. Dev sections aren't meant for questions.
If I see some good ones I will. But I prefer to give answers I know about. I have one phone, and some experience with the HP touchpad. And I've installed only one rom on each. Those are what I feel I could help with best. Ah well, maybe in their general forums I'll see something useful for me to do.
Same problem right here :

Just making an observation. There is a dedicated Q&A forum and those question threads never get moved.

Not true.
Half of the time I post something not a question, it gets moved there.
Yes Xda has defines the category where to put the questions according to the category of questions or you can ask Xda by sending them an email.

Corrected. But it's true. It's mostly composed of which phone to buy threads.

I agree with you halfway. Certain mods have trouble distinguishing between an actual question and a statement meant to spark conversation of debate. Too many posts get moved to the Q&A section that don't have a definitive answer. Just because a post has a question mark in it does not mean it belongs in Q&A. Posts about phones get moved to Off-Topic when the description of Off-Topic says "anything not about the phones". It is a broken system.

A lot of mod move good threads for no reason and keep pointless ones that could be answered in one reply.

Thanks you noticed, it seems new members do not care about reading the rules and posting in the right section.
For us, just a bunch of Mods, compared with the more than 4 million members is almost impossible to do our work without members help.
Hope this thread helps members to make a bit of conscience before posting.
Thanks,

Can I just install new roms, kernels over or on top of whatever is currently on my sd card.
Sent from my HTC Sensation 4G using XDA
You go into recovery and find where it says wipe/format all partitions (except sd). You could download the superwipe zip. Should be in the sensation android development forum and its posted all over the place. You gotta know how to find it by now. I would post a link but I'm doing this from my phone. hope this can help you out a little bit more on your path to learning how to use android. I got a little testy with you and I'm sorry. Ask as many questions as you need to ask. Its best to wipe unless the developer says you don't have to. Just delete the old rom file off the SD card.
It's alright Um not trying to make a lot of posts.I just competely new to all this.I have a qwestion that I'm embarrassed to ask where is the thank you button at for U can thank all of you.and.thanks for the information.
Sent from my HTC Sensation 4G using XDA
Thanks button is at the bottom of each post a person makes. Not sure of where its at if you use the xda app.
In the xda app thanks button is found by lightly pressing and hold on post, then a menu comes up with thanks button right there. Hope this helps!

Seriously? The Q and A forum is being ruined by questions? The guy's trying to learn, and he's anxious to do so. Sure, many of his questions have been answered before - but have you tried XDA's search? It's awful, especially if you're new and don't know certain terms yet like super-cid or AOKP/AOSP.

Maybe I was just a little pissed but surely there's no need to open this many threads, everybody was a noob at one point and he can still just get all of the information that he is asking for from the already existing threads.
Sorry.... but you shouldn't open this many threads....
is that necessary to full wipe the device?

On May 25th there were 4 separate threads opened regarding questions that have been answered MANY times. Thanks to the mods for cleaning it up.
For me, if xda search doesnt work great... I just use google and add xda on my keyword... Works well... Q and a is a best place to ask but dont abuse it... I rooted my sensation before i even join xda.... There are other members also that are asking questions, and their thread is being push far behind because of abuse like this... Im just saying be considerate of others as well...

We used to have topics discussing next phones to buy, ubuntu porting to this phone, monthly cm7 stuff, etc.
Someone moved them all to the questions forum because... They had question marks in the title?
There used to be at least a couple posts per topic a day in them, now nobody says anything.

This is due to the disproportionate amount of users to moderators. As new moderators are added so are more forums. The moderator system has just been overhauled and things are going to normalize.
The policy is that ALL threads that ask a question go in the Q&A. even if is about a ROM, app, theme or accessory.
If you feel that your thread was improperly moved, then just report it for a review.
