I had the pleasure of testing a SenseUI based "NXSense" ROM on my N1
Problem is, I had several widgets I really freakin' loved
-the HTC Clock
Beautiful widgets and Weather clock donate are popular recomendations as alternatives but I fail to find them succeeding at one thing: integration. Also, they all cost money which I'm not really okay with considering there should be a way to rip the apk from the SenseUI roms??
The HTC clock thing was using GPS/location to get weather, i hit the date and it opened up calander, i press the time and it brings up my alarm clock and an already inbuilt timer and stop watch. I absolutely loved this.
-Friend Stream
I've used other social network apps.. This one is just so much more simpler. Add accounts, post from widget, done. all networks update. Nothing I've used yet is this well done.
-Activesync Widget for the inbuilt mail app... man that thing was a nice setup. I'm willing to pay for alternatives as this one is work related. My MS Exchange email was so easy to read from this widget
Bingo
Well I think you hit the nail on the head - integration - in fact from my understanding the HTC widgets are very integrated into Sense. And as such there is not a way to port them... something to do with the Framework if I recall reading that somewhere correctly. However Beautiful Widgets does basically the same as the HTC clock but does cost money, and Fancy Widget is identical in look, no idea about functionality. As far as friend stream I know of no alternative, however LauncherPro Plus (also pay) has some widgets that look like it, but of course they are not the app.
However, I am pretty much permanently converted to Sense ROMs and won't be leaving NXSense anytime soon haha
Welp I guess HTC sense rom it is.
launcherpro plus has some sense widgets including on similar to friend stream. it also has facebook twitter calendar bookmarks and people sense widgets too
From my understanding - using friendstream 'n stuff without porting the HTC Sense environment wont work, so either use a sense rom like MicroMods, or live without friendstreem :/
Yup launcher pro plus has it and I love it. Plus I'm using beautiful Widgets for my clock and it does exactly what you say

So I bought launcher Pro Plus and ended up flashing to a SENSE UI ROM
I still have a conflict. I just dumped $3 on Launcher Pro Plus, and I'm not exactly happy with its widgets. It doesn't have a FRIEND STREAM widget, it has a FACEBOOK widget :| Not really happy about that
Now when I'm using Launcher Pro Plus, which by the way is way superior as a launcher to any stock launcher, I cannot use any HTC Widgets. Instead they're locked to the HTC Launcher. Very, VERY angry with this.
Is there any way I can get the HTC sense widgets on Launcher Pro? The stock launcher sucks, it lags, its slow, I can't add rows or columns (#1 reason why I like Launcher Pro), and the list goes on.
Someone please help

For Launcher Pro Plus, there is a Twitter Widget, a Facebook Widget, and a Friends Widget which combines the two.
There is no way to use HTC Widgets with a different launcher than the HTC Launcher. Likewise, there is no way to use the Launcher Pro Widgets with a different launcher than Launcher Pro.

Well here's the thing, the HTC Sense Friendstream also has Google Buzz and Flickr Updates in there *pulls hair out* D:
I think I'll stick with the Sense based ROM as I absolutely love the Gallery integration with my Flickr.. but man oh man I really am upset at the lack of those widgets.

launcherpro does have a friendstream like widget that has both facebook and twitter on one widget.
I have tried some various custom roms and kernels over a couple of weeks now, but for different reasons i feel most comfortable with rooted stock ROM.
Now I am wondering what system apps is safe to remove?
I'm not using any of the included apps i think, except for Google maps, GMail, POP3 Mail and Internet browser.
I'm gonna use Titanium backup to freeze the apps I don't use and I guess i could just try for myself, but if anyone had a list of safe apps it would be a great help.
Thanks.
Well i'm on LBC but i froze:
Car Panel
Connected Media
Reader
Talk
Wifi Hotspot
Seems fine. No reboot or anything.
You can freeze just about anything, things like music, live and magic smoke wallpapers to HTC sync applications, to app sharing etc.
I'm on LBC and I've cut the apps that were preloaded with by half, there is waaay too much unnecessary bloatware.
Thanks guys, this is my list of frozen apps so far:
Amazon MP3
Android Live Wallpapers
Black Board
Bookmark Widget
Calculator Widget
[STOCKS]com.htc.dcs.service.stock
Data Dashboard
Data Roaming Widget
Dock Mode
Facebook
Facebook for HTC Sense
Flickr
Google Search
Home Screen Tips
HTC Hub
HTC Hub Sync
HTC Likes
HTC Likes Widget
HTC Report
HTC Sense Live Wallpaper
HTC Slide Show
HtcTrendWidget
Live Wallpaper Picker
Locations Widget
Magic Smoke Wallpapers
Mail Widget
Messages Widget
Music Visualisation Wallpapers
News Widget
Peep
People Widget
Photo Widget
Setup Wizard
SIM Toolkit
Slate
Stocks
Stocks Widget
Tell HTC
Twitter
Wood
I'm still working on it though so I'm sure the list will be twice as long when I'm done
This is my second Android app. I develop this little app because I prefer 3rd party launcher (e.g. Apex) than existing Sense 4 Rosie. Existing hacked Sense 4 Rosie (full version) currently doesn't support non Sense widget correctly and is less feature-rich than many other launchers.
Even if you install a 3rd party launcher, Rosie still consume your precious memory as a system service. But if you freeze Rosie and thus release it from memory, you'll lose your lockscreen app shortcuts. After painstakingly reviewing the codes in HTC shortcut components, I found that Rosie actually act as a content provider to supply information of its launcher bar shortcuts to lockscreen. So without Rosie, lockscreen has no information to construct its shortcuts. Therefore I wrote this little app to replace the role of Rosie as the content provider. What's more, it allows you to select your own apps with a simple config screen and store the data separately. And it doesn't stay in the memory permanently.
Installation instructions:
Uninstall Rosie (Freezing doesn't work because Android doesn't allow two content providers of same type) ** You're reminded to make a backup first **
Install HTC Lockscreen Shortcut Provider
Run Lockscreen Shortcuts
Select your app for the 4 shortcuts
Hit back to save settings and notify HTC lockscreen

** I tested this app on my Incredible S and Virtuous Infinity 1.35 but I believe it works on other devices too using Sense 4 as base **

- Added broadcast message to HTC lockscreen so no reboot is needed!
Awesome work!

I know to this might seem pointless, but someone has to know how to manually command/launch the HTC weather animations.
I use ADW launcher and Widgetlocker lockscreen replacement, which can command the home screen weather on unlock, but with only 3 phones: Sprint Evo Design (GB); US Cellular Hero S; and Thunderbolt (GB).
The common thread between them seems to be their Kernel: 2.6.35.10. But the ICS upgrade for the Evo and Tbolt (which changes the kernel) breaks the weather animation (incredible 2 on Kernel 2.6.35.9 won't work either).
Kevin (widgetlocker app creator) said in his thread that HTC changed the way it commands the home screen weather, eliminating his ability to command it with his app. I'd like to be able to run the animation with my Inc 4g and Htc one, but can't (no I don't want to use HTC sense as my launcher).
So my questions are:
1) If you use an aftermarket launcher and lockscreen and still have animation on unlock, what phone do you have and what Kernel?
2) Do you know of any other app (besides Widgetlocker) that commands weather on unlock?
3) Does anyone know of a way to use Tasker (or some other program) to command com.htc.weather.wallpaper to run?
Yes I know beautiful widgets, HD widgets, and Fancy widgets, all have their own animation. But I'd like to use HTC's and hope someone can show me how.
Thanks.
