The HSPA+ Glitch. - AT&T, Rogers HTC One X, Telstra One XL

I was on AOKP, getting LTE coverage. Everything working fine.
Made a backup, and wiped data. and flashed ViperXL (wanted to test)
I decided to go back to AOKP, so I used my restore. Upon restoring I could only access 3G/HSPA networks, no 4G/LTE..
I downloaded cleanrom based on 4.0.3, wiped everything. Flashed, booted up. The icon says "4G LTE" now, but I am not getting any internet, and yes the internet is enabled. What can I do now?

Try deleting and re adding the att pta APN? Can you get into *#*#3646#*#*?

AOKP is like CM10. You need to come from a 4.03 ROM before flashing them. I'm assuming Viper is probably 4.04. Flash CleanRom 4.0 or any other ROM based off of 4.03 and then wipe reflash AOKP.

[Q] Rom Issues

I just rooted my thunderbolt and installed a few different roms. The problem I am having is that even with wiping the roms are not fully installing. For example I tried Bamf and did not get the power controls on the drop down, then I wiped and installed Asylum and had still had sense ui. Any ideas what i may have done wrong? Never had any issues with roms on my DX or Fascinate.
Thanks in advance,

Verify md5 sums. Prior flash.

how do i verify md5 sums when downloading through rom manager?
donwloaded new rom, checked md5's wiped everything. worked like a charm.
Thank you sir.
Got Das Bamf 1.6.3 remix loaded up and have not been able to get a 4g signal since.
using this radio: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1057933
md5's matched
Is this the wrong radio? Or is there something else that i can check?
did the whole *#*#4636#*#* thing and it is set to CDMA +LTE/EvDO auto
Did you DL the radio and flash that as well?

yes, I flashed the radio above in Hboot, booted up phone, deleted PG05IMG.zip from sd card, rebooted to recovery, wiped data/cache dalvik cache factory reset, flashed Das Bamf 1.6.3 remix from sd card.
Mine did that when I first flashed the radio as well...I used ROM Manager to fix permisions and rebooted, waited a few minutes and it came back. I really don't know if this did anything to solve my problem.
Can't really hurt to give it a shot.

still just 3g. maybe it is just one of those verizon 4g outage days in my area.
Make sure that LTE is still enabled. You will have to check your modem settings because it may be set on CDMA Auto.

If you're on BAMF go to wireless and networks then there should be a category to toggle data types.. Do LTE mode and wait for 4G to pop up then return to cdma/ LTE auto.. Or download the lte on off app from the market and switch there

[Q] NS4G - 4G Stopped Working

I have had a Nexus S 4G for about 2 months now, and earlier today, the 4G functionality just suddenly stopped working. It was working fine, and the connection dropped, so I went into the settings to reconnect, and now it just stays on "Initializing".
I was running the 8/31 nightly build of CM7 at the time.
I have tried the following, to no avail:
Reboot
Flash a different CM7 build
Update Profile/PRL
Wipe cache/dalvik cache
Nandroid backup, full wipe, flash stock ROM
At first I thought it might be a problem with Sprint, but my sister said 4G works just fine on her Evo, so I'm thinking it's a problem with my phone.
Does anyone have any suggestions as to what I could do to fix this, or should I just return it to Sprint and exchange it? I've had it for less than 90 days so it should still be under warranty.
Is your sister at the same location?
Sent from my Nexus S 4G using xda premium
Yes she is.
Based on what you have said, there isn't anything that should have caused 4g to stop working. I would take it to Sprint and see what they say. Unrooted of course
Sent from my Nexus S 4G using xda premium
Update on the situation...
In preparation for returning it to Sprint, I "unrooted" it following instructions I found on AndroidCenteral (basically downloading the GRJ22 build images and flashing those via fastboot). Strangely enough, that fixed the issue.
I've now rooted it again and am back on CM7 with no problems. Just to ensure the problem wasn't a file in the backup, I'm reinstalling everything rather than restoring a backup.
Still have no clue what the problem was, but it's working now.

APN won't stick

I have a Nexus S I9020a and I'm running brainmaster's jelly bean ROM with the air kernel. My APN settings will not save. Right now I can not get data or make phone calls. Sometimes if I toggle airplane mode I will get data but its not permanent, if the phone reboots then the APN settings are gone.
I know its not the Sim card because it works in my old iPhone.
Any help is much appreciated. THANKS.

No AOSP ROM for me

It started I think after I put the 1st JB TW ROM on my phone (eg Incubus). Since then, every time I try out any AOSP/AOKP based ROM I lose WiFi.
Wipe and format everything (data, cache, dalvik). Install AOSP/AOKP ROM, do the initial setup, get WiFi working and then after 1st reboot -> no WiFi. I tried many ROMs based on the above platform. Same thing.
If I toggle the wifi on/off/on some times I get the wifi back but just until the next reboot. Sometimes when I try to toggle the wifi screen freezes.
I odined back to stock. Unrooted and locked. I rooted and unlocked and right away I reinstalled a CM10. Same problem.
When that happens there is no wifi network found and scan finds nothing (i have many netorks around me). It is like the wifi service is not present.
I tried different kernels and different radios. No go.
All the TW stock ROMs (ICS or JB) work fine.
Any idea? Did you hear about this anywhere?
Thanks for your help.

Try wiping System before flashing AOKP as well. Wipe them a few times just to be sure. Im thinking that possibly recovery doesnt always wipe like it should but im not sure.
I did it.I tried too many times not to get it right at least 1 time.

I tried the last CM10 from Sep the 23 rd.I don't know which version is that.

Well, I have news. Problem not solved but something new came up.
I had a nand of an official cm10 from Sep the 9th. I recovered and voila the wifi works perfect. More than that. I dirty flashed the nightlie from today and everything works fine
I then wiped and format again everything and flashed the CM10 from today. WiFi lost again after 1-3 reboots.
By the way if I reboot after losing wifi next time I get a screen with activating which stays there forever. Also my phone no and MIN are gone.
I recovered them but the wifi is still gone.
I live in Ca so I'm in roaming if this is of some importancce.
Can somebody mimic this? Fresh install of CM10 official and then reboot.
It does the same for me for any AOSP AOKP JB based.
I have a netgear router that provides wifi service on 2.4 and 5 Ghz on both bands 20 and 40 Mhz. The SSIDs have different names.
I specified already that when that happen I cannot see any other wifi around me and there are many.

[Q] [SOLVED] Loose mobile data and APN's after any/every JB flash.

This happens every time I flash a JB ROM.
Everything else seems to work fine.
But...
As soon as I disable wifi, my mobile data greys out and I have no internet connection. If I re-enable wifi, my mobile data comes back.
If I am out of wifi range, mobile data greys out and no internet connection.
When mobile data works....it works.
Looking at my APN settings shows no APN's at all. It will let me populate a new APN, but when I press "save" it just goes away and leaves nothing. I've tried rebooting after also.
My IMEI information shows up in the settings screen. Not jibberish.
Flashing back to stock restores my mobile data fine.
Mobile data works fine when I upgrade to ICS from GB before attempting JB.
The phone reacts to flashing exactly as the instructions indicate.
This has happened every time I try to go from ICS to JB.
I tried completely wiping (int sd and all)my phone before flashing (over and over again) and I'm following andros instructions fully.
While on JB, could using Odin to restore an efs backup I made while on GB help this? Is it possible to just upload the backup without returning to stock? I tried to restore the efs backup with Root Explorer but it didn't fix anything obviously. And I can't seem to even connect fully using EFS Pro (won't see com ports on the Qualcomm screen). Nitrality is an app that claims to backup/restore the efs folder but I haven't tried restoring one yet.
I'm not even sure the problem lies within the efs folder.
Ive gone through this a million times and it is the same no matter what I do or "try". It is the same for me with any JB ROM.
Searching the forum has gotten me this far, but now I'm stuck. Any help would be greatly appreciated as I refuse to accept failure.

Does anyone know of a similar app that supports the Infuse?

idk..this may sound silly but if you want to try:
1. go back to stock gb
2. take out sd card
3. factory reset
4. cm9 flash twice..run it to see it imei and data is intact. then boot into cwm. factory reset
5. flash a 4.1.1 build..check imei and mobile data.
6. then flash 4.2.1 build
...disclosure: i'm guessing
Re: [Q] Loose mobile data and APN's after any/every JB flash.

I first re-downloaded all my ROM's and GAPPs on the computer.
I've been able to keep mobile data all the way to 4.1.2.(Paranoid) But after that it's as I described:
IMEI shows up and is correct.
No APN's listed and can't save a new APN.
"Mobile Data Status" shows disconnected.
If wifi is on and connected, mobile data "works" fine, but still shows no APN's and disconnected in settings as above.
Resetting to default APN says it completed, but nothing's there. I tried rebooting after and checking.
Wanna hear something really strange...
Since I knew I was going to have to go back to stock once again, I decided to step back to 4.1.2 just to see what would happen.
4.1.2 installed fine and my mobile data was once again working correctly.
Still working on it.

very odd...I guess your phone doesn't like 4.2.1.
Good luck with it, though.
Sounded like you've pin-pointed the problem to a change from the 4.1.2 to 4.2.1.
Im losing it all after i went back to stock gb 2.3.6
I changed the APN settings on my device as http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1791526 advised. I'm running 4.2.1 AoCp and my mobile data, MMS, etc. all works fine.

mine would loose its imie. i would have to flash back to stock gb and then cm9 let it boot up and then flash cm10 4.1.2 if i flashed another rom before cm10 4.1.2 my imie was gone.i could flash any4.1 or 4.2 rom after flashing cm10 and be fine.

Thanks but nope.
This happens every time even when starting fresh from stock.
I am not altering the ROM itself before flashing in any way.
Immediately after flashing a 4.2.+ from 4.1.2 the APN's are not appearing. But my IMEI info is.
But if I go back to 4.1, the APN's are there so I'm thinking the APN's aren't being deleted during the flash?
In the process of flashing, I've made sure all the ROM's "worked" and the APN's were there before stepping to the next one.
I feel like I'm insane.
Re: [Q] Loose mobile data and APN's after any/every JB flash.
Can anyone tell me what controls the migration of the APN info when flashing from 4.1 to 4.2?
Also, what controls the addition of new APN's and where are they saved?
Is there any place I can look within the ROM or kernel to help see if the APN info is really missing.
Personally, I think the APN info is there, but something is not installing completely when flashing.

It's working!!! :good:
I grabbed the UVKJ6 modem, flashed it, and APNs are displayed and working.
I've tested with 4.2.2 versions of Beanstalk, Paranoid, SlimRom, PAC, and The Collective's (shout out to dman who spoiled me with Zeus).
Tried to re-download and install the JB version of my trusty UCLB3 modem, but it would not work (for me) with any of these ROMs.
I've never been so happy to have my notification bar freeze! Lol.
I'm assuming this all has something to do with the stage of development for JB? Idk.

I had to flash a different modem. Not sure why, but it fixed my problem. What I did was:
1. Downloaded a few different modems from http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=31097259
2. Reboot into recovery.
3. Select to Install zip from SD card.
4. Locate one of the modem. (In the folder).
5. Flash the modem.
6. Clear cache and dalvik cache.
7. I selected to fix permissions. Probably don't have to do this. But I did.
8. Reboot and test. If it doesn't work, flash another modem and try again.
If no modem works, then its probably not the modem. Hopefully you removed the SD card when flashing from ICS to JB. And hopefully your IMEI # is showing and correct.
It goes quick. I hope this works for you. If you need more detailed instructions, just let me know.
