Unable to Root properly - Samsung Galaxy R i9103

Hi friends,
I've a problem with rooting my R and need some expert advice.
I'll explain my problem in detail, coz it might be complicated...
So, here is what I did to root my phone
(followed this guide: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1406880)
1. Flashed CWM 4.0.0.2 via Odin
2. Made a Nandroid backup
3. Installed Superuser-3.1.3-arm-signed (is this a problem?)
after that I installed "Root check Basic" to confirm if my device is rooted. But the app stays at the screen saying "Please wait for Root Check to complete. System appears to be very slow" and Nothing happens (waited for about 30 min)
After that, I read somewhere that I need to install Busybox. So I tried installing it from the market.
At first, I tried installing from STEPHEN (STERICSON) app, it installed successfully but doesn't open and stalls my phone for some time then I had to terminate it from task manager.
the I tried installing second Busybox by JRUMMY APPS INC. In installed and opened successfully, downloaded the busybox but stops at the following screen
{
"lightbox_close": "Close",
"lightbox_next": "Next",
"lightbox_previous": "Previous",
"lightbox_error": "The requested content cannot be loaded. Please try again later.",
"lightbox_start_slideshow": "Start slideshow",

"lightbox_download": "Download",
"lightbox_share": "Share",
"lightbox_zoom": "Zoom",
"lightbox_new_window": "New window",
"lightbox_toggle_sidebar": "Toggle sidebar"
}
and when I open Task Manager it shows the following apps are running (Superuser is greyed out?)
Did I make a mistake somewhere? please help me guys.
I've my nandroid backup, should I restore it?

I'm Sorry, even I didn't want to make a new thread, but I couldn't find the answer anywhere.
I checked the link you gave to me, but it seems only for ICS.
I'm on GB 2.3.5 and all I want is to root my device and nothing else.

Its ok buddy. Since you are in GB, i think the Superuser u used might be the problem. Gud that u tuk a CWM backup before trying to root. Now follow the below steps.
1. Restore the CWM backup which u tuk before rooting.
2. Reboot the phone. Now check whether the phone is rooted or not using the root checker app. It shud be unrooted (obviously) :silly:
3. Reboot into CWM recovery.
4. Flash the zip which i have attached here.
5. Reboot the phone. Now check whether its rooted. It should have been rooted. You can later install Busybox. I prefer Stericcson's

You're right, the super user was the problem.
But is it safe now to update it via play store?
Thank you selva, you made my day

Glad you got a fix mate, I'll go ahead and close this one up for now :good:
EDIT: Oh and yeah, you should be fine to update from Play Store.
Thanks!

ShiftRRv1.0
Shift Root and Recovery will be able to root you're phone in a pretty safe manner. The program is designed to only flash the eng boot if the MD5 checksums are correct.
This does it by simply pushing / pulling the hboot from the phone and checking the MD5 as if you were to manually do it. Only this just does it automatically.
Check Root:
This will just run a quick and simple SU test to make sure you are or are not rooted.
Root:
You will click on this to install the ENG Hboot and load the correct files after the Hboot has been flashed.
Install Recovery:
You simply select the recovery image you want to use with your HTC Evo Shift. Leave the phone at the home screen and click install. It will auto reboot you to bootloader, flash the zip then auto reboot you to recovery to make sure it flashed successfully.
Backup / Restore WIMAX:
This option lets you quickly and easily backup your wimax keys to your home pc. It will also let you restore your wimax keys to your phones partitions.
[WHAT THIS PROGRAM DOES]
When you click on root, and click "NO" for this phone does not have a ENG Hboot. The program push's the ENGHboot from the Hboot folder to the phone and push's busybox. From there it gets a temp root shell. It then cross checks the MD5sum on the phone itself using busybox md5sum /data/local/eng_hboot if the MD5Sum math's it then proceed's with the dd if cmd. Once the dd if cmd is done. The program then sends the dd if cmd to /data/local/eng_hboot_check, it runs the cmd busybox md5sum again and verifies that the MD5Sum matches if so everything went well, the program cleans up its mess off the phone and alerts you its safe to reboot. IF IT FAIILS it will try 1 more time. The program is designed to check the HBOOT md5sum and verify if its the ORIG hboot if it is not and the MD5Sum doesn't check between the ENG and ORIGINAl it will attempt to flash the original and notify you if it succeeds. IF IT FAILS AGAIN. IT WILL NOTIFY YOU NOT TO TURN OFF YOUR PHONE AND COME HERE FOR FURTHER INSTRUCTIONS. I ADVISE YOU TO LISTEN.
After this YOU MUST REBOOT THE PHONE.
When phone is powered up again Click Root again this time select "YES" that the phone has a ENGHboot, this will get temp root again and push all the needed files, "SQLITE3", "BusyBOX", "SU", "Superuser.apk" to there proper location.
If YOU CLICK "YES" and didnt have the ENG Hboot thats fine it simply will temp root you and push files to your phone, but when you reboot they will be gone. Just start from the begining again and do it again.

Thanks for sharing. No need for me to try it now but if I ever replace or need to re-root. Really like the option to backup wimax keys too.

Im giving this a try now
It "did its thing" after rebooting the program is still "waiting" and the phone is booted. Hmmm help?

I was trying to root, and I have windows 7 64 bit
Where is the link ! someone please give me the file , pretty please please please been waiting for this !!!
I don't know if this is what it's trying to achieve or not. I don't know how to do it either. Judging by all my previous phones, an all in one script could be written to do everything the s-off, root, and recovery post is telling how to do. Just a "simple" batch file and some support files and presto, it's all done!
Zip everything needed together and just unzip and run. I could probably teach myself by ripping apart other all in one packages and adjusting my port to follow loosely what they are doing but I just don't have the free time to spend on that project. By the time I would get around to doing it, someone else would have finished it. I just don't know things like telling the phone to reboot into different modes so it could continue it's job. I can visualize it in my head but making it a reality is completely different. Doh!
Anyone know where the download link went? I've been having trouble with rooting my phone and wanted to try this, but theres no download link in the first post (unless my computer decided to stop showing links).
Link was removed temporarily. Learn to read guys, sheesh
On a side note, I'm pretty psyched about this OP, since I haven't had the ambition to sit down and root my phone yet. Just curious, are there any files that would need to be downloaded prior to using this (such as the ****-root.zip used in the other root method)?
Oops, saw everything except "removed temp..." in the first post.
It looks like there isn't anything extra that needs to be downloaded. Looks like the OP figured out a way around it.

Possibly the recovery files ( clockworkmod 2.x or 3.x ) and have HTC sync set up to even connect the phone I would guess.
Sent from my PG06100 using XDA App
Sorry guys will work on this again in a few days girl is supposed to be going in to labor today...
On the side note the issue that I ran into is that running rageagainstthecage from the windows side does not give you root. It actually disables usb connection between the phone and the computer. I was trying to make this so you didnt need anything other then the program. But now with that being a problem z4root would be needed to obtain at least temp root but if i doesnt drop you to # then it still will not work from doing it automatically using arguments. That is what i'm trying to resolve first..
Ill get back to you guys on it, and ill even add the option to restore wimax keys.
That's what I was thinking You have to Temp root with Z4root first.
Since The manual root requires super user to work.
Dude!!!! thank you so much for this. Been wanting t root badly but was afraid to try the other method. Good luck with baby!!
Perhaps someone brave could test it out by temp rooting with visionary/z4root and then running the program? If you posted the download link back up.

[Q] How do I root the AT&T Avail (ZTE Z990)?

What I have tried:
SuperOneClick (all versions) <-- Siege Tanks Were Doomed
Gingerbreak <-- Just sits there
Z4Root <-- doesn't do anything
Rageagainstthecage <-- doesn't work
tried flashing Clockwork mod via tcard like works for the ZTE Blade, phone pretends like it is working then reboots and no change, trying to start using the power button and vol - yields nothing.
tried cooking my own rom with the kitchen make the update.zip file
Do adb reboot recovery
the phone comes back to the android system recovery <3e>
I select the option to do update.zip from sdcard
I get:
verifying update package...
installation aborted...
I need root access to remove the AT&T preloaded apps that won't uninstall won't stay killed and are hogging all my space on the phone (limited storage). I would also like to be able to upgrade to 2.3.7 from my current 2.3.4 and possibly make my own roms.
I have emailed ZTE Chinese support to see if I can get an non pork filled rom the Indian who answered their tech support line didn't have an answer and told me not to flash the ZTE roamer rom (if I could even find it) because it will brick my phone. They have been no help!
What am I doing wrong in the android recovery (I have tried both installer scripts)? Is there a way to rebuild the system.img from the system folder that was created in the kitchen because I might be able to rebuild it into the .bin file that the phone will accept from a sdcard with the built in update feature?
Ok so I figured out how to repack the system.img I then dropped it back into the folder and used zte-pack.exe to build my .bin file. I go to the tcard update and it fails verification...is there a signature that needs to be made? I didn't see an option in zte-pack
i got the same phone with at&t....was unable to root it either, but i only tried super one click...
good luck and share, if you find a way.
Not sure if there is away as of yet. Just did a fast search and it seems no root has been done for it yet
try another time z4root
I am unable to root my XT928 either...Good Luck!

There are detailed instructions for rooting, unlocking, other ROMs and more on a Russian site but I don't understand much of it. If anyone can help out it would be great!
I'm prevented from posting links here but search for zte Roamer unlock.

we know about this - i'm fluent in russian. none of their file links work - it's an old thread on 4pda forums. you can use translate.google.com or several other engines, to translate web pages in real time.
according to ZTE although they share the same model numbers they have different radios (IE GSM / CDMA) and flashing the roamer to the avail will brick it. Apparently ZTE has not gotten the concept of using distinct model numbers yet...
I was able to get root by simply entering *983*7668#. watch the screen and you will see a message that says wait a few minutes for root. I then installed superuser and Titanium Backup proceeded to remove the apps I didn't want/need, I was also able to backup everything else that I wanted to!

Amazing man! Thank you!
Question: I have my 8GB MotoActv which I thought I rooted correctly (SuperOneClick says "My device seems to be rooted already when I try reroot it") (ADB shows #) but, I'm not able to install certain apps, delete files with Root Explorer, etc.. "Basically NOT getting (SuperUser Access)
I love the way I have everything set up on my device at the moment and would hate to start from scratch is there a way I could just reroot it with Superuser Access?

Do you have superuser app on your device? Because if you get adb with the device it already rooted but we need to install the superuser app to manage the permission here is the file
5) Download the Superuser APK if you don't have it:

Thank you! Going to try this as soon as i get to my a210.
.... Placeholder ....
And you can just press the 3 point?, Only root, the kernel does not need to unlock me ....
Probably not. It dumps a CWR image to /dev (overwriting the factory recovery?), which is boot, so you have to be unlocked.
CWR is used to mount /system (rw) so that adb can push Superuser and some other binaries.
I got stuck, after loading up CWR. My Windows 7 (x64) couldn't recognize my A210 while CWR was running. Downloaded USB drivers through the Android SDK, and the Acer USB drivers, but neither of them did any good i continued with the rooting process (so that it could clean up after itself) but nothing got pushed to /system (which is no surprise, seeing my tablet was unrecognized). So, now i have an unlocked bootloader, no root, and i'm unable to get into recovery... nothing happens, if i hold volume down, while powering on. I have to press the reset button, to restart it properly.
Could it be that there are no drivers for Windows 7 x64?
Edit: ok, i've read through the topic at android-hilfe.de, and got it working (had to manually install the driver). Now i have root! Thank you!

What exactly is your question?
I don't know if it will work with 4.1.1, because I do not have 4,1.1 on my tablet! You have?
I get everything back to its factory state, or even be the standard kernel?

Hy everybody
I tried to root my A210 yesterday using your program. But I point out some difference between what happen and the "how to".
First, I didn't have 4 option when I start the tool. I just have the bootloader option and a root option.
Following the "how to", I first activated the open mode to boot.Then, I choose the second choice (root) and that's when it didn't follow the "how to" document. My A210 did restart and boot to a*SCHLEXEDEELER edition but it never ask me to restore my data. And when it get restarted, everything was as it were.I also didn't have all the part about installing the driver because my PC still detect the tab as "adb interface".
I aldo never had the section about mount and unmount system.
Then the*SCHLEXEDEELER tool ask me if I wanted to install the custom recovery. As I was pretty scared of what might happened, I answered "no". So the tool ended.
I cheched on my tab but I was still not root so I did all that stuff again but choose "yes" instead of "no" for the custom recovery.The*SCHLEXEDEELER tool printed out many lines but one caught my attention.
It was something like :"data\tmp\cwm[...].img : no such file or dir".there is a file called "cwm[...].img" (the [...] is because I don't recall the exact name) in the folder in wich there is the*SCHLEXEDEELER tool.
But I didn't suceed in making it finding this file.
And when I checked whether I'm root or not, it turns out that I wasn't.
Any ideas or suggestion?
Still, thanks a lot for your job.

FIRST OF ALL you don't read the thread correctly:
The "How to" of Heroturtle is NOT for V2.0 Final Edition!! Do not use that "how to" !!
So here is what the tool do if you select root:
Start your device into bootloader (fastboot mode)
Flash boot.img to your device via fastboot
Pushing binary files like su and busybox to your tablet
READY!
It's important that you have install all drivers correctly!
The 4 points are from the Versions before and are not necessary anymore now.
If you have done the root process, you must install SuperUser from the PlayStore! After that you have root!
Use only schlexedeeler Tool V2... You are confusing something and write about things that no longer exist in the new version!!! No restore my data. etc...
Sorry for my bad English
schlexedeeler Kernel 1.1, Not mount USB - NTFS format....

I will try to install super user tonight and see if it's good.
I'll write a message to keep you inform about that.
thank you for your quick and pertinent reply

Did not see the circle, Only to colored bars full at 100%.

What is going rong? How can i check if i have rooted my phone?
Thanks.:good:
make sure you have the drivers intalled correctly,when you open flash tool make sure you open as admin and put the superuser zip on the main bit of the sd card,not in any folders and should work,when you reboot to see if it has worked you will see the superuser app in the app draw.
I´m looking forward to try your rooting method since i only want to get rid of the three annoying buttons at the buttom, but is there anyone who could tell me how to do a BACKUP in case something goes wrong and i want to get my phone into its original form? there are a lot of threads about it, i know, but i didnt understand them. could one of you please tell me how to? THANKS :good:
Still can not root it.
My friend thanks for your time.
But i still can not root my phone. I had try deferent computers but nothing. Is it possible to find some other drivers? Because at the procedure i am hearing two times the connection and disconnection of the USB. (At Xp and Win 7). I made all the steps as you describe. I believe that is a driver problem but i do not know how to resolve it. Any suggestions? Thanks again for your time.:good:

Good night to all, sorry for opening this old thread but I'm in a biggest problem(not for you guys). Explain the problem:
I want to root my phone, a Hero H2000+, following this tutorial and others. When root is OK I try to backup the system with CWM Recovery but the backup doesn't make full. The backup always stop in the Backup system... and this doesn't continue. Because this doesn't continues I restore defaults in the Android system, but when the phone reboots it enter into recovery mode(CMW Recovery) and then "Formatting /data" and "Formatting /cache" and then??? It doesn't reboot, this stay here. On this stage I was bloked but following this tutorial my phone now reboots when enter to CWM Recovery and reboot and reboot. Fuc**** loops!!! What can I do to revive the phone???!!
The CWM Recovery I used is ClockworkMod 6.0.2.8 with Scatter and flashed with SPFlash Tool v3.1222.00.
Thanks a lot for the replies
Update: I flash again with another ROM I downloaded from a China page and the phone boots OK. If someone wants the ROM stock, please send me a MP and I will give you the download link.
Thanks and sorry for the post. I'm very preocupated!
