I'll go first
I've been making an app using aide
It has several activities all with a different layout
Before this morning they all displayed right but the first build I ran this morning the layout would just default back to my main and I can't find any errors in my code
Then just a few minutes ago I was working on an activity that plays an audio stream I ran the app and now that activity doesn't display the proper layout either
I ran a logcat but I still can't find anything
Anyone else have this problem
I'm using the free version with around twenty files could that be the reason

Source code and layout XML
The link in the live activity is to a server that is currently off but was on last night and working
I also imported this into eclipse and it still didn't work right I have no idea what to do
Sent from my Samsung Infuse running PA Jelly Bean using the xda-developers app

I finally figured it out
In my main activity I had my setContentView under onResume and for some reason it would force all other activities to us its layout
I moved it to onCreate and its working like a charm

I went back to try using SlideScreen again but now I cannot view any facebook updates. It tries to display them (I assume a summary / single item) but then crashes. The full normal Facebook app is working fine.
Wouldn't mind going back to SlideScreen but this puts me off.
There's a bunch of stuff with this launcher that just doesn't work. Even if it works how it's supposed to, it's just not very intuitive. The concept is good, but the execution is horrible.
That's strange...it worked a year and a half ago. Maybe it needs an update?
Sent from my SGH-T959V using xda app-developers app
Of course it doesn't work...
First: It's a DEAD APP. Shut down by the developers. So no, there won't be any updates.
Second, stuff is not working because other apps (such as Facebook) and your OS (Slidescreen was built for 2.2 Froyo) don't work the same and don't have the correct access points for SS to talk to.
Third: Google also changed and closed off access to key parts of some apps (Gmail, calendar, etc), which complicates or closes off information. This is what ultimately shut down the project...the app couldn't get info from the stock apps to do its thing.
Was an amazing concept before it's time, and would make the Android phone a serious WIN for many people I know and work with (which it IS NOT now). Until Google and Android re-open access and permissions, or a development team can handle trying to rebuild it with other apps in mind (Maildroid, K-9, Kaiten for example), then I'm afraid it's a dream.
Way to necropost a six month old thread.

And you should have left it dead. The post you replied to was from October last year. (insert sadly not created facepalm icon)

I like this app anyway and would be very grateful for a successor
Hopefully swipescreen will pick up where this one left.

Yes, and I for one am glad the previous poster added the clarification details, regardless of how old the thread is, since I was looking for SlideScreen TODAY (having been a couple years since the last time I used it).
Not sure where people get the idea that just because a thread hasn't seen activity in a while means something useful/helpful can't be added to it.
And that is your opinion

ICS Torch Activation Code

I'm making an app for school that is a "door control" for a light sensor that opens a door. My app worked fine on gingerbread, but now it force closes on ics. Has the method changed? If so, what is the new code?
Sent from my ARCHOS 80G9 using xda premium
It depends on which hardware you're on. There's no default codes unless you're using a common framework as for cyanogenmod. Those codes are vendor implementations and tied to the hardware they're running on.
Each vendor uses its own codes so only someone with the same hardware can help you about that but remember that it could even be left out from ics as many devices don't have it
Solution is to link to a market app using a shortcut or an open intent

Apps not compatible with Android JB 4.1.2+

Post your previous installed apps not compatible with Android JB 4.1.2+, I have some use to work with ICS not on JB 4.1.2+.
If you have some apps you think is not compatible don't hesitate to post it and i'll try to add them all to our list.
Here are the list of some apps:
1) Point Inisde
2) Wikitude
3) Battery Time
4) 3D Bowling
5) Screen Filter (Post by SIGMAxB)
6) Crime Story (Post by Rayk1080)
You can add screen filter to your list never mind thought it was 4.2

alternate keyboards reset to as-built on device restart
As of today, 1 October 2013, all alternate keyboard reset
to as-built default on power-off or device restart.
I used to use SwiftKey as an alternate keyboard.
SwiftKey continues to work as expected.
HOWEVER ...
If you power off or restart your device, it resets to the default,
as-built keyboard instead of whichever alternate keyboard I
have installed.
I've tried multiple alternate keyboards.
They all get reset on power-off or restart
so the trouble is not with SwiftKey.
My phone is a Samsung Galaxy Note (i717).
My carrier is AT&T.
This might be a problem with Android 4.1.2 itself.
It might be a problem with the Samsung "enhancements".
It might be a problem with the AT&T "modifications."

I believe that's an app issue because I installed 4.1.2 before and I was able to use fb and twitter without any problems.

Personalize Google now and App Ops

Hi
As I am playing with my Nexus 5(I just transferred to Android from iPhone), I came up with two questions:
1) How do I personalize Google Now? It seems like anyone can activate it.
2) I saw 4.3 has App ops in the setting, which I cannot find in nexus 5.
Please if any one can clarify my questions.
Thanks!
2) >settings >apps is still there

Sorry I'm quite new to this, and I saw that, but that is different from the App Ops I saw from 4.3, where you can set the permission to each app (such as location access).
Thanks!

Google Now cannot be "personalised" as such. Not by options anyway. It will react to your searches and positions. Once you use the phone with Google Now activated it will learn your work and home positions and times and tell you how long to work and when you should leave to get there on time. It will also do many many other things. Searches with Google Now will personalise it more and more.
I have never seen that app ops option but I do recall something about cyanogenmod having the ability to change an app's permissions. Maybe the 4.3 you saw was actually someone using a custom ROM called CyanogenMod. I'm sure it won't be too long until they release a version for the Nexus 5... If they haven't already.

Android 4.3 had the hidden feature called 'app ops', but you could only open it with a different launcher like Nova. This allowed you to set the permissions for every app installed. As far as I know 'app ops' is not available in 4.4 anymore.
The only reason I ask about the personalize Google now is whoever around me have the same phone saying okay Google and all the phones pop with Google now.
I thought it should tailor to your voice to avoid this happening.

Help. Default applications won't stick.

Just like the title says, when I select a default app i.e. chrome for Web links or the YouTube app for opening YouTube videos, it won't stay set even though I select "always" when it pops up to select which app to use. I have even gone into the default applications settings and cleared it so I can select it again and that will work for a short while. I never had this issue on KitKat it only started when I switched to a Lollipop ROM (specifically MOAR 6.1). I have reflashed the ROM several times and even tried the stock OA6 build but the issue persists. Is this something others are experiencing on Lollipop or is it just me?

+1 Same here on my Samsung Galaxy Note 3 - N900W8 running stock Lollipop 5.0. Anyone find a solution?
The only thing that helps at all that I've found is freezing the other apps that are listed when this happens. This works for basic web links but anything that will open in a specific app but could also be opened in a web browser will do the same thing every time.
